41  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Work management on: August 25, 2018, 08:44:49 AM
I do a little work with bounties, at least i do when i have the time!  Roll Eyes

I tend to stay away from bounty work within this forum actually as i don't want bounty reports on my post history at all and i have quite a busy life and young children, so i literally do not have the time to sit and do bounty reports and report every link etc etc.

What i found to be a useful site which is a kind of 'done for you' system was Bounty0x. A lot of their campaigns are straight forward and self-explanatory. You join with your social media links etc, follow the instructions which are usually simple and the system keeps a record of the vast majority of your work. Thats if you trust the system!

A lot of younger folk are too reliant on technology so they most probably wont follow my next bit of advice and that is to be 'old school' and physically write everything down. Buy yourself a journal/diary and keep a log of everything you do. It takes seconds and in the event of catastrophic failure on your computer at least you have logged the work you have done.
42  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mexican pursuing Colombians...Are hatred and fear leading people?? on: August 24, 2018, 02:24:10 PM
For all the technological achievements and scientific breakthroughs we have had, i do actually wonder if we have evolved since world war 2 as a species.

I hear what you are saying about Mexicans and Colombians, but this is happening all over the world too. I'm from the UK and i'd say we are very liberal here (mostly) and certainly diverse with many people from all cultures and creeds living in harmony. However, since Europe have been in the Schengen agreement, where you can move freely throughout Europe without a passport, i think things have drastically went downhill. We have all the trouble going on in Syria and the Middle East, Islamic State massacring innocent folk, the mass migration of refugees and other people who have jumped on this 'bandwagon' who are simply economic migrants. There is trouble all over the place, hatred is brewing and a lot of it is being swept under the carpet by the Mainstream Media. We have an epidemic of drugs on our streets, which causes gang related violence and death. This creates more hatred and i fear we are spiralling out of control as there is a shortage of police and public services to deal with this.

Social media plays a big part in creating hatred too. You have people on the far left and people on the far right with huge amounts of support for either side- more hatred!

Its being bred everywhere and i think a lot of it is a clash of cultures/beliefs/education. As guybrushthreepwood said in his post, a lot of hatred and violence is to do with a lack of education, or it has been bred into them from a young age from people with twisted and bitter ideology. I don't think there's an easy fix for it either....unfortunately! I fear for my 2 young sons growing up in this world i really do.
43  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Successful ICOs have these in common on: August 24, 2018, 01:10:45 PM
Investing in any ICO at this moment is pretty risky as opposed to 2017 when it was the trending thing to do.

If certain people were to work on and release another project the 3 main things i look for are:

1.Team- who it comprises of and what have they done in the past with other ventures. This is usually a fairly good indicator that they have the ability to make a product that works/will make money, it also indicates that they are trustworthy and not there to specifically grab peoples cash and run.

2.Use case- If the project is unique or has a better chance than a competitor (because of point 1) then i'm interested. I'm not into fantasy stories of "we are trying to do this" or "we aim to disrupt that", i look for solid fundamentals and actual real life use case where you can look at something and think "WOW".

3.Fund allocation- If the first two criteria are satisfied then next I ALWAYS look at this. To see how and where the funds will be spent, specifically how much the team and advisors are keeping for themselves. I tend to think the lower the number the better. Anything over 20% i am simply not interested as i deem it an unsafe investment.

I think Security Token offerings will be the next big thing by the looks of it, so i'm not really looking at ICO'S unless its something truly groundbreaking.

So thanks to both. You encouraged me to make my very first post in here.

Hey Helena. Thats awesome to hear and i'm very pleased to see that you have received your first merit too!  Wink Jetcash is a good guy and makes a real effort to clean this place up from the serial sh*tposters.

Honestly, the vast majority of being here is just common sense, if you have an interest in crypto (or a bit of an obsession like moi!  Tongue) you can honestly learn a lot from being here and just browsing. I tend to stay away from certain sections because of spam etc, and no doubt once you find your feet here you'll do the same.

I'm thrilled that fellow newbies can take a little inspiration from other fairly new members too, don't be afraid to reach out if you need help here- we're mainly a friendly bunch!  Cheesy

Looking forward to seeing more of your posts in the future.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin prices spiked to $ 6,900 when BitMEX turned offline. on: August 22, 2018, 09:05:44 AM
It is absolute price manipulation without doubt.

See the amount of shorts that were stacked at an all time high? then as soon as Bitmex goes down for maintenance-BOOM!

You can do all the TA and charting that you want, there is absolutely nothing you can do in cases like this. Not helpful at all for the future of crypto seeing this sort of manipulation and blatant robbery.

Just my opinion BTW.
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up easily. Newbie to Member in less than 2 months! on: August 21, 2018, 03:45:58 PM
I confuse this is a for merit post. I saw tons of posts like this, in Meta and in this board, they try to make the post is their own unique content but all posts have same meaning, same advices.

With all due respect here Xiaolongnu- how you can say that about my post when i looked at your post history and you are quite simply a serial spammer and nothing else! Your post history is littered with bounty entries and spam. People like yourself are everything that is wrong with this place and you should really think before you write/speak!

Ironically one of your "friends" has merited your post which is an absolute disgrace really. There is nothing meritable about anything you say or have ever said on here.

Not that i really have to justify myself to you, but the fact there are MANY positive responses (one of which just bumped this thread up weeks later, so i seen your post only now) tells its own story. Meaning it has gave a little bit of hope and inspiration to others who are at least trying to be part of the community!!  Roll Eyes
47  Other / Off-topic / Re: WHERE CAN I GET THE MERIT? on: August 21, 2018, 10:40:53 AM
There is an absolute abundance of information scattered across virtually every section of this forum regarding Merit.

Try actually having a look first to see if you can find the answer to your request. Honestly this is not rocket science its basic common sense.  Roll Eyes
48  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to select a good bounty campaign! on: August 21, 2018, 10:10:09 AM
Nobody can say with certainty which campaign will be a good one. You can have a good idea which ones are crap, but finding good ones at present is pretty tough- particularly with the current state of the market.

I think you have to go with your gut instinct on a lot of these campaigns, i don't even trust the vast majority of these ICO websites that rate these projects- how much are they being paid to say they are good?, sure you can use ICO websites as a guide, but common sense and using your own due diligence (if you have the time and patience) wins every time.
49  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie's Guide to Getting Merit (Proven) on: August 21, 2018, 09:52:55 AM
OP, I've posted similar things to yourself on here too, and been told that its nothing new or has been said before etc. Yes, it might have been said before, but where is it now? probably dozens of pages back where nobody is going to see it.

If we are to try and improve quality posters here, people need to hear success stories. I'm very much like yourself, never been here before May (when i joined) and i dipped my toes in the water and thought i'd post a few things and to be honest i liked the community and the excitement (and the despair! Angry) surrounding crypto. The fact that i know nobody in real life that is into crypto, finding this place filled in a lot of gaps for me. Where i could converse and share opinion with likeminded people.

Point i'm trying to make, is there are hundreds/thousands (presumably) of new members join here every day, and a lot of what you see is moaning and complaining about the ranking/merit system, this is extremely discouraging to a lot of people, so there needs to be a balance of positive news from people like ourselves who are willing to join the conversation, spread positivity and try to improve the sentiment in the  community.

People need to realise that, and stop with the doom and gloom as it only breeds more negativity.

Good post mate, and i hope you continue to be a valued member!  Wink
50  Other / Meta / Re: What should be included in a newbie welcome message? on: August 20, 2018, 12:42:55 PM
I think it needs to be emphasised that failure to adhere to the rules in which you mentioned will result in a permanent ban, maybe in a big bold font such as this

WARNING: FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE RULES WILL RESULT IN A PERMANENT BAN!

Or if you fancy a little more bold approach...

DO NOT SPAM MOTHERF*CKERS!!!

51  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEED HELP: I'M ON DAGGER'S TIP on: August 20, 2018, 11:52:20 AM
There you go buddy. I can see you're not a shitposter as i went through your post history, and thought on that basis you were worthy of the merit that you needed. Congratulations on getting to member rank (when your activity catches up!  Roll Eyes ) and good for you... you are off the daggers tip now!  Grin
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i want earn money on: August 19, 2018, 11:09:29 AM
i want earn money

What a charming way to open up your account on here and introduce yourself to the community!  Angry

The vast majority of people here want to earn money. There is an absolute abundance of information within this forum that can help you to make money. I'd suggest you have a good look around and find out how its done rather than posting silly posts like this.

Educate yourself first- worry about money later.
53  Other / Meta / Re: [THE LUCKY LIST] Just the right amount of MERIT on: August 19, 2018, 11:01:23 AM
OP, Its all well and good making a list like this, the reality is though its not going to change.

Like anything in life you have to be in the right place at the right time. These guys were here before you so thats just the way it is. We don't have to agree, but you have to be realistic and accept that they were here before you and before the rule change so if it was fair then, its fair now.

Nobody is keeping you here and nobody is stopping you from leaving.

The fact that you dont have any Merit tells its own story. You are here simply for money/bounties etc and dont want to participate until you want to moan about the system. Only one person can make a change and thats you.
54  Other / Meta / A suggestion to encourage/recognize good posting behaviour on: August 18, 2018, 07:44:40 PM
Hello everyone, hope you are enjoying your weekend!  Smiley

Since i joined this forum, i have literally lost count of the amount of times i have seen asking about how to rank up and how to get merit. It seems fairly straightforward to a lot of us here as its not exactly Quantum Physics. Put the effort in consistently and get rewarded (hopefully).

Where i see a lot of people going wrong here, is the belief that it is impossible to get Merit and rank up in the forum. When you start out here you are a little fish in a big pond so it can be a little intimidating and hard to get recognised initially. Or, what i have seen a good few times now when i have trawled the site looking to give out S-merit and some posts are decent but not quite meritable. I wish there was a way i could signal to the person who's posts i have seen that they are nearly there and definitely on the right track.

So i came up with an idea- a system to recognize posting behaviour.

The Traffic light system

Spam/Crap/poor: If you seen anyone posting crap, this would signal to the member that their posts are not really what we are looking for, and depending on the person (i.e. if they have a good attitude) it gives them a chance to change their posting habits to get on track.

Somewhat agree/ok/on topic: This is to highlight that that the profile user is posting correctly, is relevant and on topic, and there post is of a reasonable standard.

Great post/merit worthy/good standard:To show the profile user that they are definitely on the right track, their post history is decent, and someone to watch.

Rules/Requirements (to be debated obviously)

  • In order for a member to use the system, they must have attained a required level of Merit or rank (this is to ensure fairness and proof the member who is awarding is indeed trustworthy)
  • There would be set amount of these per day/week/month that a user can send
  • The 'traffic light' would be displayed on a users profile beside their name, if it were green it would indicate to a merit source (or someone who has S-merit) that this person should be looked at to potentially receive merit (at givers discretion obviously)
  • Leaderboard, whereby a member who has been voted  throughout the course of a day/week/month could see what they have achieved and to show transparency

Why am i suggesting this?

Firstly, let me just say this is just theoretical. I don't know if this could even be put in place as i dont know what the forum is capable of doing with regards to changes or what is possible.

The reason i'm suggesting this, is a LOT of people who i have came across when i have been looking to send S-Merit were very nearly there but not quite Merit worthy. Some are posting good content and getting no recognition. This system would encourage the user to continually post good content as they are officially on the radar if they are in the 'green'. It would encourage the people in the 'red' to post better or be forever ignored, and would show the 'amber' that their input is noted and they actually exist.

With the amount of people here, it is very tough to stand out from the crowd. Some are no doubt discouraged that they are not able to rank up as they are not receiving Merit, this gives support and hope to those who are making an effort. It discourages those who spam, who will then NEVER have the right to moan again as you could point them immediately to the fact they are posting crap via the in-house traffic light system.

As i said, this is just an idea- one i think could solve a few problems here, and will certainly improve the quality forum wide!  Smiley

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Oh, and sorry for the long post!  Roll Eyes
55  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quality Post on: August 18, 2018, 09:25:16 AM
I'm no expert here, but a quality post (in my opinion) is something that other fellow members find either useful, informative, educational, funny, or perhaps a mix of all of the aforementioned.

You don't have to try and re-invent the wheel, just make content that you think will benefit others. I've made posts before that i thought were useful and no one made a comment, so don't get upset if this happens. Some will be winners, some wont be.

If you need an idea of quality posts, look at the guys who have lots of merit and understand why they got merited for their posts. There's usually a common theme- they are high quality, well thought out posts!

This does not mean copy or plagiarise their work, it is merely to give you an idea of the required standard.

Best advice i could give you, just be patient, educate yourself, learn what not to do on here, and write some quality posts.

Good luck.

56  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to launch a website related to crypto..need suggestions on: August 17, 2018, 10:39:06 AM
Good for you that you want to get busy with a website, before diving straight in is to do some research on what it is that you actually want to do with your website, and who it is that you are targeting.

Its all well and good wanting to make a website about crypto but you have to remember that there are millions of crypto related websites out there and to stand out from the crowd will take some serious work.

What you are best off doing is to find something that interests you within crypto and concentrate on your chosen 'niche' and build your content around that. I will be honest, if its just a crypto news website it will be lost in amongst all of the other websites that have been running for a long time with lots of content.

Pick a niche, a specific coin, mining, trading tips, a favourite exchange, a favourite wallet, basically, something that you are passionate about, and tailor your content to your chosen niche.

This will give you a better chance at standing out from the crowd.

Advice: I'd have a look at learning some basic SEO to get started, without this you will struggle. I donn't say this to discourage you. Its just being realistic and will help you in your pursuit!  Grin

Good luck!

57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The EFT and ETF thing is causing a lot of confusion. on: August 16, 2018, 06:49:34 PM
I think an ETF being approved for Bitcoin would undoubtedly be a positive thing for crypto in general, as it would give a little more trust to crypto from the bigger investors perspective. That said, why anyone in crypto would actually want an ETF (for themselves) is absolutely beyond me.

Give me the actual Bitcoin with the private keys every single time! Smiley
58  Other / Meta / Re: Is Bitcoin Talk's love affair with shitcoins over? on: August 16, 2018, 09:45:49 AM
In all honesty i think 90% + NEED to die if crypto is genuinely going to appeal to the masses. I'm kind of contradicting myself here as i have been happy to try and make few $$ off the back of shitcoins (i'm sure i'm not the only one!  Cheesy) but i know only too well the vast majority will wither and die.

Too many scammy 'coins' are jumping on the bandwagon, trying to make a fast buck with blatantly crap projects. Once a lot of these are rightfully flushed down the toilet then i think Crypto will be taken seriously. The crypto space in dire need of a good clean-up!

59  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF, Is it really needed? on: August 15, 2018, 10:38:02 PM
Although i'd love to see an ETF granted at some stage, i really think crypto needs a real good clean-up first!

There are too many scammers, crooks and thieves that have been catching out people who are new to the space. Not to mention all of the blatant scam ICO's, ETH 'giveaway' scams or other joke coins/tokens which have suddenly appeared on the scene.

In my opinion if we are to be taken seriously as a community, then all the crap needs to be washed away and build from there. Then we can start focusing on an ETF.
60  Other / Meta / Re: HOW TO AVOID SPAMMING on: August 15, 2018, 10:20:46 PM
As the Pharmacist quite rightly said, spammers wont be reading this as they will be doing what they do best...spamming!

On how to avoid spamming, i think people who join this place with the sole intention of spamming should be booted out of here or go through a probationary period to prove their worthiness here. This forum is littered with spam unfortunately and the only way to stop it is to put a stop to the people/bots who are ruining it for the genuine folk.
