41  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT NEWS - Warren Buffet declares Bitcoin as a BAD INVESTMENT on: March 03, 2014, 06:57:31 PM
Honey Badger clearly doesn't give a damn.
42  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt.Gox Bankruptcy - CNN States 1.75 Million BTC Lost on: February 28, 2014, 09:03:09 PM
sounds like they added 750,000(clients) and what was supposed to be 100,000(company), but they saw 1,000,000.  Sad that armchair bloggers are more scrupulous than MSM and have been for some time.

My solution: (Steal this idea)

Someone build a "skin" plug-in that sits on top of the articles, people can use the skin to rate sentences one by one. True, False, half-truth, unverifiable, etc..  the aggregated input is then calculated, and the plug-in will display the community consensus on the quality of the article.  You can look up authors past scores. You can see the score for a single sentence.  Contributors would get compensated by revenue generated by ads the plug-in presents while editing, maybe some contributors input is worth more than others.  If only there were some mechanism or system out there to handle the micropayments for people doing the work.. hmmm.....if only....
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Curious- Does Satoshi really own over 1 milion of BTC? on: February 27, 2014, 04:27:23 PM
Satoshi = Mark Karpeles.

I lol'd.  Satoshi's genius would never have allowed Mt. Gox's accounting issues to happen.

This subject again............
It doesn't matter that he owns 1M coins, because he cannot spend even a small amount of them without revealing his identity in some fashion. He clearly wants to remain anonymous.

I personally think he's(if a single person) is dead or hiding in plain site with no public ties to bitcoin or they(if a group) agreed the destroy the private keys for the coins they mined in 2009. I also believe he was already well off and wouldn't want to sell them for fiat anyway.

I personally love the mystery of it all, you have to realize how many enemies he would have, because bitcoin can potentially be very disruptive to many established oligarchs. Comparing Satoshi to these copycat developers is a non-starter.. they were motivated by different factors.
44  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt. Gox - To resume withdrawals Feb 20th - New ATH approaching on: February 17, 2014, 08:39:35 PM
It's been 72hours since I sent my urgent SEPA transfer (which guarantees same day from my bank - and shows same day when i do this to bitstamp) and it still isn't showing on my gox account. I'm inclined to agree that I will miss the window, and price will have normalised before I get chance to get a few discount coins.

ho hum.

Why oh why did you send money over there?Huh Did you also sent BTC to Gox in the last weeks when the price over there was +20% ?
Itīs a trap, you will get fooled. I hope not so.

I sent cash

You are a braver man than I, the last day I sent money to gox was the exact day their funds were seized.. luckily I was able to cancel the dwolla transfer and started my slow exodus from gox immediately afterwards.  I'm still not sure if I want them to survive or not.. at least long enough for everyone to pull out LOL. I just hope MtGox isn't letting stolen/sheep/SR2/cryptolocker btcs to get laundered to you... we don't need that...
45  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't fall for the trap, the real crash has not begun yet! on: February 14, 2014, 05:58:42 PM

46  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox SCAM? $38million disappeared. Large sums affected. on: February 06, 2014, 06:10:00 PM
BTC Gox quickly losing popularity.

FTFY.

This.

I had been slowly withdrawing BTCs from Gox since 2012 and had my first issue with the very last withdrawl in early January. They got me my coins eventually but it was a bit scary and they were unresponsive until i woke up one morning with a deposit in my local wallet. They had the best trading platform at the beginning, and had good yubikey/2FA security. I hope they get it resolved, I truly don't believe they are/were fractional reserving, that would be a very, very dumb thing to do. I also hope they get their issues with the US Govt sorted out and USD withdrawals get back on track. As you can see, I'm full of hopes but keeping a skeptical eye on this.
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lamassu vending machine on: February 05, 2014, 04:05:19 PM
I can vouch for adub's knowledge and first mover(USA) status here...I am also waiting in line for a Lamassu and researching how it will work IRL.

I think it all depends on the state of the online exchanges in the future. If they still suck, then these will make a lot of sense.

These vending machines will make sense in areas where AML/KYC/BSA regulations aren't as tight or become clearer, that's why we don't have any installed in USA yet. I'm thinking it will be a good way to get <$1000 worth of bitcoin on the spot, but not ideal for dropping 40K into, although i suppose it's possible. I think it's too early to call for Seattle, to be honest, but in Canada you should be good to go, research what the Robocoin guys did and emulate that.  good luck!

48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin microtransactions are it's eventual demise? on: February 04, 2014, 10:08:43 PM

What $0.40 fee?  Average tx size is 682 bytes.  At 0.1 mBTC per KB that is $0.08 rounding up to nearest KB (current version) and $0.05 using actual size (planned for future version).

I may have to research this a little more, I sent .00042 to a charity as an example for someone and it charged me .0005 mBTC, not sure my why tx size was so large..it was through my blockchain iphone app so i ended up paying $.40 to send $.32.

Edit: .00092 was taken out, clarifying post
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin microtransactions are it's eventual demise? on: February 04, 2014, 06:28:03 PM
This is why I still support litecoin even with the ASIC drama going on.  Paying $5 in bitcoin is not really feasible right now given the $.40 fee but paying $5 in litecoin is a $.02 fee.  I think they compliment each other, for now, until the BTC devs figure out a better fee scheme than what exists today.  Their is room for a single crytpo wallet that lets people store and use the various coins that make it through this year with valid support/dev.

and if you get paid in BTC, your "salary" doesn't go down every month, you still make the same in fiat terms, bitcoin is just worth more.  Ask Andreas if he minds...
50  Economy / Speculation / Re: SEEMS LIKE LARGE BTC HOLDERS TRYING TO KEEP PRICE AROUND $800 on: February 04, 2014, 03:45:53 PM
Historically, bitcoin has stable more than it has been volatile. 2012 anyone?

Also, bitcoin was NOT created to be a fiat pump/dump machine like stocks and people who treat as one are clearly not seeing the long term picture here and just don't get bitcoin. I didn't get to where I am by trading, I did it by making a decision in 2011 to buy and hold bitcoin for at least 4 years, no matter what happens.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CheapAir.com accepting Bitcoin for flights! on: January 24, 2014, 09:45:11 PM
They use coinbase API if my memory serves me correctly.  Pretty slick, I've used it twice so far.  Haven't done International flight but should be booking one in the coming months.. will report back if any issues.

I put this together tonight to raise money for Sean's Outpost, and, of course, as a shameless plug for my consulting biz site I'm bootstrapping.

Please spread the link or use those QR codes in a similar fashion to what 1HiMom did if you lucky enough to be going to the Super Bowl.

The "Bronco18" was completely random.. I tried to make a "Hawks25" but it was taking waaay too long Smiley

I told him about BTC in 2011 but he never got involved. Hates himself for it. I know many people like this. Most of them still have not got in at all!

I can't tell you how many people I know like this. They keep asking me and I know they are still open to the idea, it's just a steep learning curve.

Had to get a bit creative (electric car/special fuel plates) and my buddy already owns BITCOIN for VA.  I think the globe is a nice touch, tho Smiley
