Does P2pool make everyone else's cards run hotter?
There should not be any difference between mining on a P2P pool vs regular pool when it comes to card temperature. Have you changed your card settings at all?

Mmm,... well I was sitting comfortably at 76C mining mintcoin, came over to DGB and now it goes up to 83C. Also I'm not sure why I always get waiting for work from pool which ever pool I try. Seems I have a choice of mining P2Pool and getting too hot or not using a pool Sad
Interesting, you could just be getting work quicker. What kind of cards are you running?

Sapphire R9 280X Dual-X

I've worked out the pool problem so i'm back mining again.. stupid typing error that I couldn't see  Embarrassed

So waiting to see what temps they get to pool mining again.

Is it normal to get more rejected shares using P2Pool? Also my GPUs seem to run hotter

Yes, it's normal due to the increased work utility. Best way to minimize stale shares is to select a node with a low latency. More info here:

this may be dumb question but when i'm looking at P2P site and they state put payout addresss in as username and -p x or -p xxx... does this really mean you type it just as or am i missing something?

Anyone having trouble with Dedicatedpool.com?  My miner keeps saying waiting for work and no servers available. Most likely problems is url is wrong ( which it isn't i've checked 4 times)  Also I was thinking about trying P2P  so is there a best place to go for that?

The best place, is the one closest to you.

Amsterdam is the closest server I know of so far.  Does anyone know of a UK pool or server? or good P2P I should look at

Any suggestions on what the best exchange is.. not just for mintcoin as i'm keeping what little i have for now but for all sort of coins, once i point my miner at something else I'd like to start trading and eventually make some £ back so i'm looking for a good exchange and one that will pay out to GBP £ or at least pay out to an international banking number

Can someone tell me how the 'minting' works?

So how does the 'minting' work once it switches to PoS?  Do it require you do anything but sit there with a wallet and a balance?  what happens if you encrypt your wallet?

Anyone get a problem where it says "waiting for work to be available from pools" when you start the miner

Using sgminer with same .bat file that worked couple of days ago just fine

Lucky you lol mine is all over the place right now, can't seem to break 690

I used cryptobadgers undervolting guide and mine currently run at 1100/1120/1100 fairly stable i think

http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/10/undervolting-in-linux-via-modified-bios/ <---- link to guide

I'm going to do some more structured testing over the next few days. I'd be happy with 710 at this point

Does anyone know if I use TRIXX to change settings e,.g GPU clock while sgminer or cgminer is running would i see the effects? or do I need to restart the miner to see if there is any changes to my hash rates etc

Also if I've got my cards at 673/693/692 kh/s and sgminer says total kh/s is 2.050 mh/s with a WU of 2000 it fluctuates but each time i work it out i'm getting aroudn 90% khs/WU but interestingly after 26096 accepted shares i've still no rejects.. should i mess with it.. i've never seen the miner with no rejected shares before... is that not good?
I don't know the first thing about mining so correct me if I'm wrong but those seem like some pretty sweet settings if there are no rejects.
 Grin

Welll this is what i'm wondering.. the cards themselves are

677khs / 802WU
646khs / 624WU
697khs / 571WU

so I would think some improvements to the cards could be made, but over all its 2017khs / 1991WU  65008 accepted shares and still no rejects

any more thoughts?

Any had it when they are changing settings on the cards and the card starts doing 300kh/s and no matter what you change it too after it doesn't change from that Sad.

EDIT:

OK i think thats because when sgminer crashes or the drive fails i hadn't restarted the computer each time.

Next question can you use TRIXX to change the gpu clock while sgminer is working, or do you need to restart sgminer to see if what you've changed makes a difference

Same as any other scrypt. Your problem is not algorithm difference. Problem is somewhere else.

Any suggestions?

How is it WU can be higher than kh/s?

I have sapphire Dual0x 280x x 3 and I was also wondering what hash rate and WU I should expect to be normal Also what kh/s / WU is a good ratio

I have one card that spits out a kh/s 720 ish and a WU of 780ish.... in my very limited understanding that doesn't seem right
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] Custom MP Code ✈ DigiShield v2.0 Mandatory Update ✔ on: February 26, 2014, 09:21:54 AM
I've never had to deal with an update, being still new to all altcoin stuff.  I've downloaded the new wallet from the post Digibyte put up, and of course I have not addresses, I am assuming as I did not have any DGB in my wallet and had only used 1 address while trying to set up my miner that it doesn't really matter and I am essentially starting from fresh right?

Also what happened to pickaxe pool.  I had a few DGB on there (459 maybe) not much at all i know but it was just what I earned while I was testing but I can't even load up the site now.

Rather than downloading the whole new wallet what should I have done to keep the addresses I had generated ( thinking of future updates when I actually have a wallet with something in it to want to keep)

1. if you didn't have any coins or generate any addresses yet, then it's ok to simply start fresh. Otherwise make sure to keep the wallet.dat file (also back it up regularly) as that is the file that contains your private keys -> the stuff that uniquely identifies you as the owner of the coins in your wallet.

2. pickaxe pool appears to be down. As far as I know there was no announcement or anything. I think they are having issues with their server and or hosting provider (again?).

I take it don't have a wallet.dat file in the wallet folder because i've not yet sent any coins to my wallet and or backed it up yet??

OK something i didn't expect, leaving Digishield version over night and my 2 addreses i've generated appeared. And when I load v1 the addresses aren't in that wallet any more.  So presumably I can delete V1.1 now?  Where would I find this .dat file normally?

EDIT: OK I've found the .dat file and presumably it picks up the addresses because of that file right?  Next question  Am I better off using the back up wallet button within the wallet of simply copying that .dat file to another location for security.. or is that the same thing

...so much I don't know sorry for all the questions Sad
