41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 13, 2017, 09:32:24 AM
I was speaking about byteball at a meetup tonight and i was told that it is inspired by iota. I can see iota is referenced in the whitepaper. So i am assuming the statement was correct. What makes it different. Im sorry if this has been asked before. perhaps you can point me in the right direction to learn more.

While I have outed myself as a massive FANBOY of Byteball I want some basic information availabe to everyone. I would point out that your meetup is a good representation at the current level
of awareness.

There may at some point arrive hard pissing matches who was the first.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directed_acyclic_graph
The concept is as you can see ... older.
It is hard to say who started development first.
Iota was the first to announce their project.
Byteball was first to arrive on marketplace.

Here you can look at some of the early mostly impartial or partially partisan writeups which are only somewhat outdated:

mostly impartial but be aware that tangleblog has a "buy Iota" written on its front page.
http://www.tangleblog.com/2017/01/03/byteball-vs-iota-token/
with related discussion
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1888773.0

byteball partisan
https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@jimmco/byteball-vs-iota-battle-of-two-dag-cryptocurrencies

Here is another discussion the Iota reddit had on the topic of comparision
https://www.reddit.com/r/Iota/comments/6l06su/iota_vs_byteball/
you can use it to contrast the previous two articles.
Takehome messages here is for example that "Byteball 1% premine" vs. "IOTA 5% Devfund" are again partisan statements.

Portabella (one of the byteball witenesses) wrote the following summary:
https://byteroll.com/comparison-iota

If i can add my 2 cents to the current situation:
Both are independent projects. So comparisions are a bit ... funky.

Iota is a full funded ICO "foundation driven" investment vehicle with a 'mostly' clear cut specific (read: limited) usecase in mind.
It has made a lot of people alot of money and expect that any attack on it is an attack on them. Most of the links I have
given you are from Iota related webpages. They discuss the issue alot more than the Byteball community.

Byteball is a community driven ambitious young fresh take on what a Cryptographic Project can be and is currently
bootstrapping itself into existance. It has a long way ahead of itself and the projects I have seen myself convinced me
to take a strong stand in it. Future is already here, it is being distributed as we speak and more independent development is
in several chaotic pipelines. We can see what sticks. And we can get it done without running after any ICO maddness.

In Slack the question of Lightning Network was raised, too. Here is a snipet.

Bakibyte: The essence is not in DAG, the essence of the scaling. Everyone screams that their technology is steeper, only the technology can not be modeled, it can be copied. There is no reason to assume that the DAG is the solution to the scaling problems. Bitcoin can be scaled simply by increasing the block and this will increase the data for storage. Byteball will also be scaled by increasing the storage of transaction data, what's the difference? Do not always repeat the DAG, as if pronouncing a drug. There are crypto-currencies with good technologies, but generally with a poor implementation.
The bitcoin can be scaled as follows. The use of LN will give any number of transactions and if you fix transactions in the block chain of the transaction once a month and increase the block to 50 megabytes, you can serve 500 million users.

Me: We can bath in as much essence as you want. Lets have a lightning drug session then:
You just got a private key bounced your way. Haven't changed a thing to the underlying Blockchain. Public ledger need not update. No further mining required - until you do.
But don't worry. It will take the next Blocks (picture busses) when they:
1. Have free space
2. You payed for a ticket
3. They leave the station.
Is that as elegant as a private fast shuttle that leaves when you need it?

The LN transactions will have to prove their safety in the market first. LNs stopped scaring me a while ago. Put them into action  please!
The great once a month mining sounds a bit like my monthly paycheck. All proper accounted for - once a month.

And the once a month mining will not scale Back the hardware or the fees, otherwise 51% attack becomes a problem again.
Look, Blockchains successfully threaten the world economy by decentralisation. But at a price of running around with a handgranade without a fuse. Its its fate waiting at the gates. No amount of LN will get them out of this chinese fingertrap. And there is no LN without an underlying Blockchain.
And at that moment of "the great accounting" you will have to wait extralong for all other transactions. Somehow it does not sound that appealing to me.
*takes another toke of DAG... Jummy*

I was asked if I still believe in Byteball.

The fundamentals are as solid as can be. Development is happening unhassled by the constant proclamations of death. It is still a big cognitive dissonance for me to look at the price and the project. Whenever I bought the price dropped more.

I do not belong to the people that scream for marketing. There is so much marketing for short term adrenalin markets going on that our plea for a good long term community is only heared by the select few that check for facts. The ICO-Altcoin craze will go on several months longer. After that there is time to tell the difference between shit and shiny.

We grow from the ground up with the rain of airdroped magick internet money. Face that fact. And with the long airdrop you have a inflation at work that is baffeling to behold and "unfair to the unexpierenced avarage guy who can plan for next 3 days market spike".

Get your mind ready to speak not of cryptos but of Blockchains and DAG. Let people ask: what is a DAG. And then you can speak of Byteball.

Do I still believe in Byteball? I wouldn't be here otherwise.

M'kay mate. Send me a nickel when you are there  Grin But until then check your bags regularly for mold before all your bytes rot away lol joke.
No kidding, I am caught with my jeans so far down that it can be considered baggy. But guess whats exposed?

Tell you what, if you are in crypto and do not have at least two Balls noone will take you serious. To some it is pride, some see it as a sign of being well informed about future developments in crypto while some see it as evidence that you had a good amount of BTC at some point.

Send a Post adress for the Nickel, BTC transactions take forever.

It will be a cold day in hell when Byteball achieves a new ATH.

Oh, you are so cute. Stone cold attitude. Wait I will let you have your moment now and will have mine when the next ATH is here.

That day may be cold, it will be hell and all Blockchains will be in it.

In wallet exchange for Blackbytes ... not one but 3. Enough said.
But yes not on an exchange so technically you are correct.
47  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is PayPal now feeling the pressure from Bitcoin? on: September 27, 2017, 08:00:05 PM
Just let me know when you do ebay & webshops with a click n password.
Just used Paypal 3 times today. I will not copy and paste shit or wait
for 6 blocks to be mined in China while the transfer fees are  Tongue Tongue Tongue

Sure bitcoin is ... was ... well it is valuable. But somehow this blocks put
chains on commerce.

48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 27, 2017, 07:29:58 PM
This coin's consensus algorithm is so similar to IOTA's!

Maybe because they are both DAGs. Now guess who was first and who copied Grin

Now find out for yourself who is the ICO and who is a community-driven project.

After that look who is all open source and who is hiding part of the code from the net.

But wait, there is more ... just let me say, you have come to the right place.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 13, 2017, 05:02:16 PM

this is not to be taken too seriously, but don't discount it either.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 06, 2017, 03:12:23 PM
I think Iconomi will be some time soon sorry they sold "early".
Still, no one got broke taking a profit.

As I read their statement, it actually seems like they still increased
their position in Byteball?!

Anyhow, I am not pleased with their behavior. I wish they would have
been stronger hands. I will look forward to their future reports to see
if they are made of the stuff that manages to hold money, not bleed it.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 14, 2017, 05:31:35 PM
Creating your own public asset on Byteball has become increasingly difficult and costing a complete MByte! (see https://byteball.market).

I want to give you a preliminary introduction of the EHT 7.0
Early Having Tribe of Byteball.

I created some units  Wink

They are already listed on the marketplace but not for sale.
https://byteball.market/#!/assets/oH0KLsVylJmqockFTyjbLaF4Yc3uTMAlpUOQ2AJV+Fs=

As for preliminary info, I refer you to:

https://ehtzeveno.wixsite.com/eht70

My intention is to raise awareness for Byteball and produce some smiles.
I will be on holiday for the next 2 weeks since I suddenly am too rich for work
                                                                        /unfortunately not true=1/

I am considering to turn this into a monthly reward for dodge-coiners. I think they will like the humor and free coins Wink

Comments? Thoughts? Feel free to PM me.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 12, 2017, 07:30:01 PM
And suddenly a 109btc sellwall on bittex.
I suppose get it while the offer stands?
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: July 09, 2017, 11:07:55 AM
Hello AlehandroTheGreat,

congratulations to your large Byteball holdings. Please let me point out some things about
the dynamics of Byteball in this open letter:

Byteball has chosen to solve the inherent problems of initial distribution in a somewhat
unique way: The airdrop method. It rewards the people who already have a (considerable)
stake in the Bitcoin world. I think Byteball managed to attract attention to itself and its interesting
alternative solutions of P2P cryptotechnology rather successfully.

To discourage a "hit and run" interest it also set up the 20% payouts for those who are willing
to continue holding Byteballs. This surely entraps the profit-seeking part of our reptile-like brainstem.
If you can be driven to panic with a short term view of one Sunday night I am sorry for you, because
I consider this part of the fundamentals a rock solid way of building an initial relationship and over
time a familiarity.

Let me finish with a little outlook for the future: What will make people stay with Byteball once the
airdrops have finished? My first answer was, that the run for the exit will be catastrophic. A true
crypto armageddon. Everyone will just sell, the price will be 0 and it is over.

Actually I guess that you were hoping for another answer. While the price will certainly drop HARD at
that point I think that its past record of:

- having arrived in the (atleast) TOP 15 Cryptoprojects (distribution being complete)
- being fast
- proving reliable and secure

two more fundamental will come into play:

- big bitcoin holders that know how to hold are engaged
- only 1 Million Byteballs exist. Show me any crypto which works with such a low total supply! It is like
reinforced Bitcoin fundamentals on steroids and partially also responsible for the current high price.

Best regards and let the panic RIP

Flow

-bonus: perhaps one more major exchange could add this project.

I managed to short the drops to increase my hodling by 2%.
And if I smell another drop i might do it again, yet I would
really hate to have to do that, because eventually I will be overrun
by more bulls resurging.

I think with new month new cash the situtation we are in might change
55  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 26, 2017, 04:43:12 PM
Sitting here and I am shivering. I swear i did not intend to destroy several billion of market cap with my stupid bear joke!
56  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 26, 2017, 04:10:21 PM
I don't need charts. They are for noobs to stare at them and get self hypnotized when they can't handle the truth.

Charts sure have this tendency and whales make their own market. Can you elaborate a bit on ... "truth"?
57  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 26, 2017, 03:53:43 PM
I think it drops below 2k for a short while. You might see some bitcoin traded at 1500 before this correction is done.

You've sold your bitcoins at 1500? I feel sorry for your loss.

I really do not hope that it will not go that deep. I shure smell some denial though.

IF you need a strong chart indicator take a look at the "Williams Alligator" forming
in the 6h graph.

Here have an excerpt from tomorrows newspaper:

27.06.2017

Two cryptoinvestors died in a routine trade on tuesday on kraken.com after their marcet situation turned out to be a bear, authorities said.
The accident took place with a denial trading sentiment. Both were highly experienced and had never had a bear deploy from their parachute pack before.

Local police said that the moment the trade was pulled, a bear released. “We don’t know how long it had been in there, or how it survived,” one officer on the scene said.
“But it was very hungry. It began eating the bitcoin investors mid-plummet.”

“The cause of death was being eaten by a bear. They never even reached the ground,”
58  Economy / Speculation / Re: I feel we are in a mini down trend for a maybe 3 weeks to 2 months. on: June 26, 2017, 03:16:07 PM

I think you are all in denial... its just ETH .... not a bubble. 10000 $ end of the year...

So the question is:
Can you bear the heat?
59  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 11, 2017, 02:32:47 PM
@talkbitcoin

don't get me wrong. Ethereum has a long way to go to build anything close to the trust bitcoin has gained.
I am in it for the long haul and no I have not gotten rich, yet. I think Vitalik is probably in more trouble/minute
than he bargained for and I would not for the life of me want to be in his shoes.
Satoshi was smart not to give his identity away. Vitalik ... well, time will tell.

And it isn't that Bitcoin didn't have its shares of mishaps and major scams.
For example: I do not shed a tear for the GLBSE (Global Bitcoin Stock Exchange) and all its mining contracts.
I view the token sales as nothing more than GLBSE all over again and hope that it will end better this time.

I still chuckle from time to time at what people went through with Butterflylabs or Mt. Gox.
You remember the time when the coins from the Deep Web Drug market Silk Road where suddenly
up for auction and the price had to deal with the sudden availability of more Bitcoins?
I still cry for the sudden disappearance of ASICMINERs Friedcat cause it did loose me a true fortune!
Do you remember Bitcoincourt? A shame it never manifested, we would still need it.

edit: spelling

Ethereum's market cap is rising so fast that if Bitcoin's price does not increase soon, Ethereum will be number 1 in Market Cap. That will be a sad day for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin deserve that. Slow, pricy, china centered. I used to like Btc, but not anymore. I make transaction with HYPER inflated fees and wait 10 years for confirmation to go through... F* it...

Last night I waited 12 hours for confirmation at the standard fee.

I understand that the miners want to turn a buck and that they are throwing around
massive amounts of energy and hardware...

Somehow I wonder if this is still elegant enough for the top of the
line cryptocurrency.
