Question:

Is there a pool preferred method for selling BTC? I am gonna have to pay my hydro bill soon... and TheMadhatter doesn't have any Canadian Dollar Visa's left on his site. Sad (going through US banks is not really an option... Just looking for a small transaction to something I can use online).

Thanks Smiley

It seems like the higher the hash rate goes, the less and less I am getting per 24 hours.  Pretty bad luck.
Definitely some bad luck today! So far I'm .6BTC less than I should be for 24hrs!  Sad
We've had a lot of long rounds today!

True.. but look now, 3 blocks in 20 minutes isn't too shabby at all Smiley

Still not even a month old.

Well, we have been advertising all over about the exceptional pool we belong to... (ok well I have, and my cats agree)

Nonetheless, I've seen comments around the forums about the quality of the pool web front end, and our payouts are great, plus you never quite get that feeling that someone is just milking you for fees here. Smiley

Keep up the good work!

Thanks

Yea, quite a bit.

I concur... from 1700-1800 PDT (pretty hard core)... I'll have to scroll back farther to see if it hit earlier too.

Edit: Around 1000 PDT as well... then light scattering throughout the day which is like dust in the wind.

Maybe they want their mining rig too. Dont be selfish and get your cats their own miner for cat stuff

Lol wouldn't surprise me... its there revenge for me training them to use the toilet... instead of a litter box. So far its been going ok.

We jost solved an 8 hour block :S

Yeah, I woke up and found someone had turned my computer off, and it was good timing for me, I only lost out on about 2/3 of one round. Last time that happened I missed about 5 rounds.

Came home from work, and found my main one off... Apparently, my wife thought it would be a good idea to put the cats in the spare room... Sigh...  The power button is in such an orientation, that they turn it off when walking on the top of the chasis. I guess it was putting out too much heat for them... lol.

WooHoo! 100 Blocks!  Grin

I managed to get .2 btc off of that 8 hour round with 1.7 ghash/s....

Yep... But on average I am getting about 1 BTC a day at the new difficulty with about 8-850MH/s.... You win some and you lose some on the short term... then you have blocks that get solved in 3 minutes.. So some days you just have to take it in stride. On average this pool has done quite well.

I've noticed my per round payout has been getting smaller too! Even after the difficulty change. I also notice that the pool hashrate is getting much faster, which translates to your shares being a smaller % of the total round shares!

Right but at the same time the number of solved blocks per time t goes up so you get paid out a smaller amount more often.

Right, but the difficulty has increased, so now (all things being equal) it will take more work to solve each block. so that will tend to counteract the more frequently, except if ones compute power scales with difficulty... as we are knew it could seem that way for the first few increments in dif... however, relatively, my hashing power is getting smaller.. so the payments will drop in size... and thus i'll make less as difficulty increases. (so will anyone whose compute power is static)

Difficulty increases will keep people who consider it, from going hog wild on new hardware... unless BTC value scales with difficulty... which it won't do in the short term. And I don't know enough about the BTC economy to make any long term predictions whatsoever.

Hello everyone;

Just curious if there is any expected ETA for being able to buy / sell BTC through the pool? I like the pool and would like to do all my BTC stuff within it if possible. I know it sounds naive and funny (perhaps lame) but I do have a bit of a feeling of trust with our Pool leaders.

So thanks again for all the hard work, and hope everyone is having a good weekend!

If it was sitting in your system anyway, and you nabbed a lower wattage one, mobile version, what have you... per watt expended the half of that cpu die that is a gpu would be more efficient then any other cpu out there. So in essence a little baby llano could take a 6 core i7 with ease I would imagine. (in mining duties)
51  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Help me building a new PC - 5850 vs 6950 vs 6970 on: June 18, 2011, 08:56:10 AM
I have 2 6950s one unlocked to 6970 and one not unlocked.  Both are running at ~ 900 MHz and are within 3% of each other performance wise so there is not much difference.

Hey here, are you sure your unlocked 6950 is

a: equipped with the extra shaders (verified through GPUZ)

b: not throttling?

I assume that you do have the shaders unlocked, and not just an unlocked bios flashed with fused shaders, but the second point is more my concern. I have heard of a lot of people who have unlocked the shaders, and found they also needed to bump up the power level via CCC or other at least a few percent (its the -20% ---> +20% "Power Control" slider in ccc)
52  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6950 dilemma - breaking 320 MH/s on: June 18, 2011, 08:51:33 AM
Running it in a linux box so haven't been able to try afterburner or anything, I will have a look for a signature from another 6950 does anyone know of one with higher than 840 peak GPU?

The Asus one i just got has a 950 mhz top out in CCC, haven't tried going much over 850 with it yet though... i'll let it burn in first. Also, I am gonna try and see if an unlockd MSI AB will let me go past 840 on the XFX.

Shaders aren't quite everything... power usage, efficient use of your type of shader, and achievable clock all count as well.
53  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PC wont POST with 5830. on: June 18, 2011, 08:05:40 AM
Once it boots on onboard video, does the machine see the video card at all? If so, can you install drivers for it... If so.. then can you mine with it??? See where I am going with this?
54  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~390Gh/s] Bitcoins.lc - No invalid blocks, Instant payout, EU, IPv6, 0% fee, LP on: June 18, 2011, 07:57:40 AM
By any chance has the difficulty risen over the past day or two?

Also, I've noticed that either we're solving less blocks proportionately to the pools Compute power, or something... seems the payouts are smaller per day (yeah I know, its a crummy way of thinking about it... but it seems that either difficulty went up, or we've been less lucky or something.

Any ideas?

Oh and I added another 300MH/s to the pool. Smiley my other 6950 arrived... and i just 'borrowed' a new box in for it, as i can't order a new power supply till the weekend is over. (Mine only has 3 PCIE cables... a 600w Silverstone Strider)
55  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: New Catalyst 11.6 Drivers available on: June 18, 2011, 12:15:20 AM

The question stands, does 11.6 fix this?

I can confirm this issue has been fixed Smiley

My 6950's still crash on Videos (WMP & WMPC)  and games. so no it isnt fixed.

What priority are you forcing your miner to run at? I was having issues until i dropped the priority so that if something else gpu accelerated tried to hit the gpu for some juice... it would have a fighting chance. Else, it can just sit there waiting to get in, but never have priority... Add aero to this schmozzle... and crashes would be expected non?
56  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PC wont POST with 5830. on: June 17, 2011, 11:59:27 PM
Nor could I, I was just digging around myself... You may be out of luck. If you plug the card in, does it automatically try to disable the onboard? or will it boot if onboard is left on, and the card is just in? Also... does the PS have all required power connects? Like your not running any two molex to 6pin adapters or anything right?

57  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PC wont POST with 5830. on: June 17, 2011, 11:47:38 PM
Hmmm.. i'd say there is something up with the PCIE slot you are putting the cards into... If neither  'modern' card will work, it could be an issue with the signalling, and it being an older not so standard PCIE 1.0 slot? Remember, both of the cards you mention are PCIE 2.0, and so should be backwards compatible.. but perhaps it is a case where they are backwards compatible with a slightly newer slot then you are sporting on that board.

I'd recommend looking for the latest BIOS flash for your mobo, and flashing... (use the old card)

See if that allows it to boot with your new card.

Smiley

Well I am hoping to get the crappier xfx one to at least clock up to 900... and the Asus one I just received has the bios switch, and is probably unlockable... but.. its just a shame that the xfx one is neutered like that.

However, considering that it's summer, and the one 6950 running all out warms the room up noticeably... perhaps I'll be happy with both churning away at 840ish in crossfire. Don't exactly want to have to have the fans going more then 75-80%.
59  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Let's dispel two Windows GPU mining myths.. on: June 17, 2011, 10:55:26 PM
5 GPU though... So Windows still somewhat had to handle 5 GPUs... now it depends on what the drivers showed windows, but it is technically 5 GPU...

Looks like by and large, we've been pretty lucky... When I check stats and see 1min blocks... I grin inside Smiley

(and outside too, makes people wonder)
