41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to find out a legit ICO? on: February 10, 2019, 07:24:35 PM
I have to admit that it is not the easiest of jobs trying to vet and an ICO for legitimacy. Personally, the first place I will start will be the whitepaper. I actually do carry out a critical examination of what the project has to offer or if the project is actually feasible. What I do admire most is when the team already has a working product independent of the ICO. The next in line for me is often the profile of the team members and then social media presence. I consider the amount of people following the project and how committed the team is to positive public opinion through regular updates.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lesson from bear market on: February 09, 2019, 07:14:06 PM
I can say with all confidence that the length of this bear market has left everyone bewildered and there is no one that can claim not to have learnt a lesson or two during this period. My most profound lesson is the fact that one needs to learn to make right choices at starstruck times. This is best shown in the fact that I did not know when to cut my losses. As an investor or trader, one needs to absolutely learn how to diversify and hedge funds. I've made stacking up of some altcoins which seem to have good potential a priority as I look towards the incoming bull market.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you thing Cryptocurrency can last forever? on: February 09, 2019, 06:36:30 PM
I think we are actually moving too fast. Forever is a really long time, don't you think. There is nothing more difficult than predicting if something is going to last forever. It is really difficult to determine. The cryptocurrency industry especially is surrounded by loads of uncertainties which is best depicted by the extreme price volatility of cryptocurrencies. There is absolutely no doubt that the blockchain technology which is the building block of cryptocurrency has the potential to be a revolutionary development in the long run. The conclusion is that we have to take everything one step at a time.
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reasons for Satoshi's anonymity? on: February 07, 2019, 01:58:39 PM
I am of the opinion that the second scenario seems the most likely. The so called Satoshi Nakamoto will most likely have a huge stash of Bitcoin and would not want to call unnecessary attention to himself when he can surely enjoy in riches away from the limelight. If he were to reveal himself, he would most likely be a target for several anticorruption bodies who would hardly believe he came up with the technology for honest reasons. How about the possibility that the mysterious founder of blockchain technology is dead, we just might never know the truth about it all.

46  Economy / Marketplace / Re: $1 Billion Dollar’s Worth of Cryptocurrency Stolen in 2018 on: February 06, 2019, 08:22:37 PM
I really think that all these news are often spread to reduce public interest in cryptocurrencies because that is what our government really wants. I don't believe the amount stolen in form of cryptocurrencies could ever be a match for the fiat currency that has been stolen through various means during the same time span. I really do believe that investors need to take out some time to read about cryptocurrencies so as to fully understand the risks associated with what they are getting into. With this, people will be able to come to terms with events that go south.
47  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How long do you think this BEAR MARKET will LAST? on: February 06, 2019, 07:24:47 PM
I do not think that the duration of the bear market is something that can easily be predicted. However, I am of the opinion that the prevailing bear market could last for a few more months. I think the max should be by the close of 2019 or the turn of 2020. Another misinterpretation I often see is that people believe bitoin should hit the $20,000 mark before we can officially say that the market has hit a bull run. A bullrun is simply a substantial upward trend in price values over a period of time. Breaking another all time high will be a long shot but it is something we all hope for.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Government does not like crypto? on: February 06, 2019, 06:17:19 PM
I think the major reason why government bodies do not like cryptocurrencies is mainly because they have no ounce of control over how operations are carried out within the ecosystem and also because they can not impose tax on crypto transactions because of it's anonymous nature. The government will naturally prefer people to work for them for some form of payment so they can take back some of the money in form of tax. Another reason is because of the ease with which funds can be laundered through changing fiat into cryptocurrencies. We can actually agree that the government has a right to be worried about cryptocurrency.

50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can Bull run bring about the resurrection of ICOs and dead Altcoins? on: February 05, 2019, 07:36:09 PM
My answer to this is undoubtedly, "yes". The only reason why ICOs are really down is mainly because of the prevailing market conditions. The bear market is also a major reason why most projects keep postponing their token sales to future dates with the hope that the market will improve in the long run so as to enable them meet their softcap easily due to the increased confidence of investors. I believe the expected bull run will come and dead altcoins will rise as a phoenix out of it's ashes. I'm stocking up some tokens that seem like trash as I believe the improvement in market conditions will come.
51  Other / Archival / Re: What's your all time favorite cryptocoin? on: February 05, 2019, 07:18:16 PM
Bitcoin will definitely be at the top of my list for reasons that anyone can guess. This cryptocurrency was actually ushered in the dawn of a new age of currency type. I also believe almost everyone heard about Bitcoin before actually learning about the technology behind it. I also value Bitcoin because of the trust people seem to have in it which makes me feel it will endure the test of time. Ether definitely comes in a close second on my list because the blockchain on which it is based has faster transactions processing time compared to the Bitcoin blockchain. I believe XRP is also starting to win me over.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: why does coins change price constantly? on: February 05, 2019, 07:12:57 PM
I do not think this phenomenon should be starange to anyone who has a fundamental understanding of currencies and how they work. The only constant thing with cryptocurrencies is price fluctuation. To further understand how much prices of even fiat currencies fluctuate, I will challenge you to download any app that enables one deal in binary options and attempt to use the demo mode. The only thing with cryptocurrencies is that price fluctuation is often more sudden and could change a lot in a short span of time. As I've said before, investing in cryptocurrencies is not for the faint hearted. If you can't cope with loosi6some funds, it's best to stay off it.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Most Promising Altcoins to Invest in 2019 on: February 04, 2019, 07:57:44 PM
It is a known fact that buying into altcoins is not for the faint hearted. The point is that there are always risks and some of the top choices for people at the moment are ETH, XRP and NEO because these are top coins which don't look like they are going into Oblivion anytime soon. For those who are interested in ICOs, Bluenote looks like a really good project which is sure to drastically reduce the effects of climatic change on our everyday life by tackling a major cause of this problem which is carbon emmisions from buildings. The IEO is still on at the moment though.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is crypto bubble bursting finally? on: February 04, 2019, 07:47:21 PM
I think it is too early to be drawing conclusions because of the current state of the market. The major thing to look at is that cryptocurrencies aren't the only investment to have suffered a lot over the past few years. For people with a bit of experience in cryptocurrency investment, it is a known fact that cryptocurrencies could be largely volatile. That is the exact reason why we have been seeing a number of projects looking to back up crypto assets with valuable commodities. My conclusion is that we will definitely see another bull run, the question we should all ask ourselves is, "Will I be ready?".
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto ATMs on: February 04, 2019, 07:23:13 PM
Talks about crypto ATM's is one that had been attracting some attention over the past few months. I've had enough time on my hands to do a bit of reading about cryptocurrency ATM's in general and it definitely one which makes for interesting reading. There are a number of good features intended to be introduced through the implementation of cryptocurrency ATM's which includes reduction I exchange fees and also the ability to seamlessly change cryptocurrency to fiat. If you wish to learn some more about what cryptocurrency ATM's could offer, you could try to read about the "Alcedo" project.

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Real Solution to Dumping on: February 03, 2019, 10:36:12 PM
This is a question that has always played out on my mind for a while now but the bitter truth is that there is no perfect solution to dumping as this is mainly controlled by prevailing market conditions. A key method of attempting to limit dumping is by ensuring that tokens have a specific use case before hitting the market as this will ensure buy orders are rolling in. Another reasonable method is the locking of some tokens for a fixed period of time in order to ensure demand exceeds supply of the tokens. All this should actually play their part in ensuring that price of the specific tokens remains stable.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Now is the time to buy! on: February 03, 2019, 10:20:05 PM
There is never a perfect time to buy cryptocurrencies but I actually do not think there will be a better time than this. From this point on, I feel the market conditions can only improve. The point is to actually stock up on the cheap if there's some extra cash so as to be sure that the bear market is of some benefit to you. In buying, the first stage is probably trying to find some promising ICOs and then look out for the hype around it while doing intensive research on your own. Then you just have to hodl and hope the bull comes soon enough so you can make some cool profit.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust celebrities endorsing cryptocurrencies? on: February 03, 2019, 09:57:25 PM
The simple truth is that many of them are just shilling, that is to say, they do it all for some form of reward which is not often disclosed. I'm not by any chance implying that no celebrity can be trusted. I do trust some though, as they might just see the potential in a project just like any of us and seek to bring it to public attention. If I was launching a project, I'll personally like a celebrity to endorse it because that alone has to potential to pull in more investors than you could fathom.
