41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥 PureVidz.net: Decentralized Streaming WebTorrents 🎥 VIDZ - Trading Now 🎥 on: January 19, 2017, 08:13:52 PM
Ok, i am all for this but we have now under 40 movies, that's hardly the pace i thought they would show up. I am getting lots of rejections and don't know what i am doing wrong. Maybe a small tutorial would help the flow of movies? Btw only files i've got in mp4 without converting are porn... lot's of it.

The files we have rejected either have no seeders so when tested did not populate any torrent data or were not in the proper format. All submitted content must have a healthy amount of seeders (preferably 50+), the file must be a mp4 video and must be encoded with h264 video, aac audio. Finding compatible files is quite easy by searching any major torrent site.

As for old items being removed, we have continued to improve the responsiveness of the service and to make sure it can be more reliable at playing videos (there was some problems with torrents sometimes requiring you to refresh the page for them to play). We are continuing to improve the underlying code but we did notice a lot of early submitted content was very low seeder items (1-3 seeders meaning of those people go offline the file is not available). Listing items on the site that could fail to play based on time of day is not what we want for the service so we are being more strict about how many seeders are required to ensure maximum compatibility and uptime.

Here is a quick and easy tutorial for those with no technical knowledge.

-Download WebTorrent-Desktop. If the torrent plays in that it should play in our site
-Go to your preferred torrent tracker site such as pirate bay and search for an item
-Find a item referencing h264 or simply put the magnet link into webtorrent and confirm its a mp4 file
-Right click the item in webtorrent-desktop and copy the magnet link
-Submit the magnet link to the website

While it is appreciated if you seed the file in the long term to make it as fast and reliable as possible, if you are pulling a torrent that already has 100 or more seeds it should be in no way required and once submitted you can remove it from webtorrent desktop. I simply suggest using that as a test as it is easy to use and will quickly let you see if a torrent is compatible.

hey guys, by writing

30% after the release of our website with core functionality

    Account Management
    Media / Video Management

in ANN

is that meant purevidz will implement 'media' like music, TV/NetFlix series, ebooks e.g. ?

That means we will expand on your account management options. Updating your passwords, tracking what content you've submitted and its status, if you're a moderator approving new items submitted to the site, etc. The scope of our project is video only. While music would be easy to add, there are already many, many streaming music sites out there and so we plan to keep our focus to movies and television for now with the possibility of a XXX subdomain for those who are interested. By keeping our focus on specific content it will allow us to grow and advertise easier.

I will say I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but I think you are confused about how the uploading works. Adding a magnet link from say TPB into webtorrent to check if it works is true. Where I think you might be wrong is after that. Copying the magnet link from the webtorrent client is a different link than the magnet link on another torrent site like TPB. I have actually tested it out by adding a new movie on the site and playing it. The downloading on the site ONLY comes from my link, meaning I would be the sole seeder until someone else could download the webtorrent magnet link. Then there would be more seeders. You cannot use torrent seeders for this.

I think the reason for it is this

Say you are downloading a torrent from a standard torrent client and a webtorrent client and you map the beginning and end of how the file is downloaded on both platforms, it would look like this:

WebTorrent:
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A                                                                                                                  B

Straight across in a stream as that is the only way to handle a stream

Standard Torrent client:
   ||||      |       |||||            |   ||            ||||     ||||||||||              ||||       |     ||||
A                                                                                                                  B

Standard torrent clients cannot stream as it takes the most available pieces of the content until it equals 100%

This means, until you allow others to download those webtorrent links, you would have to rely on the original seeder/poster of the webtorrent link. They cannot remove that link and they will have to seed it.

I think it is funny how people think they are going to be completely destroyed in WW3. Maybe that is a common thought process for Europeans, since they are always the ones in the middle. The truth is that most governments realize the need for civilians, even in a country they are fighting. Unless we have another Hitler or Stalin at the helm I don't think it will be as bad as you think. There is more precision in battle now. No one just drops bombs on major cities in hopes of crushing the enemy.

But in the off chance of the worst case scenario, there are two options. Move to the rural areas. Or, move to Africa or South America. Don't move to northern Africa, it is too close. Move to central or south Africa. All of South America is pretty much the safest continent in a WW3 scenario. You only have to map out the possible areas where war will occur and stay away. If you are European and do not wish to move that far, I would also suggest Iceland. Beautiful place and has no enemies.

Places to avoid in WW3:

All of Europe, Russia, China, The Coasts of the United States, India, Pakistan, Korea, Japan, The Middle East. Most think of Europe, but all of these regions will see land grabs while the main powers of the world are distracted.
45  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which is the best economic system? on: January 18, 2017, 05:17:04 AM
The real problem is seeing it as right or wrong, black or white. Economics is not like this. Neither is humanity. More like varying shades of gray.

My belief over time has made me a believer in capitalism, socialism, and communism. The problem is that countries tend to choose one. I believe economy should be a constant circle, always moving in that order. Capitalism to build the society and economy, socialism as the transition, communism as the distribution to create a unified equal society, then back to capitalism when the time comes to advance even further.

But we all know how humans hate structure. Man I wish I was Vulcan.

I really wish there would be support for .avi and .mkv

I was thinking the same thing. I have a huge collection of mkv. But I will say they are mostly high quality 1080p with flac audio, which would amount to 10gb and up for streams. Probably not a good idea for a beta site.

There's also the problem of not being able to use subtitles on foreign films, which limits what movies can be added. But I'm sure in time they will fix these little problems.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥 PureVidz: Decentralized Torrent Video Streaming 🎥 VIDZ - Trading Now 🎥 on: January 18, 2017, 03:35:59 AM
Aren't all the movies and shows here actually torrents in the background? So, anything you find on any other torrent site, with a few hundred seeders, and a few thousand leechers, in the proper format (mp4 or whatever it must be) can actually be submitted and suddenly anyone can stream it ?

So, for the bounty hunters, all they really need to do is scour their regular show supplier, or "the most resilient in the galaxy" ....

You can't use a regular torrent client, so you can't just use a regular torrent link. You can download a movie or show from a traditional torrent site and then submit them, but you need to use a torrent streaming client and create a new magnet link. Most movies released before this year will be submitted by random users but once the site gets big enough the big prizes will come from pirate groups that get the newest stuff first.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Switzerland and cryptocurrency on: January 17, 2017, 07:17:43 PM
Didn't Ethereum move from Canada to Switzerland to avoid regulation and prying eyes?  Switzerland has always been known for a safe haven for money and unscrupulous activity.

Yeah, that is true, but look what happened after 2008. When you have a central figure in tax safe havens, it is much easier for countries to know where to look when they want to come down on it. It may sound good, and many altcoins have started to move to Switzerland on that premise, but what happens when the governments want to come down hard on cryptocurrency? Or just spy on it, infiltrate it. They only need to keep their eye on the growing altcoin district in Switzerland.

I truly believe it is a bad move and over time could create a regulated system that looks just like the banking system. Governments have infiltrated Swiss banks for years. They just don't make it known because they also use those banks for their own shady business. I bet the US alone has there eye constantly on both Switzerland and Panama and it would only take a quick transition to spying on altcoins. That is, if they haven't started already to infiltrate.

I'd rather a home base of operation in a country where everyone would have to be up front about transparency, instead of a country where banks make secret pacts with governments that the people never know about.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Switzerland and cryptocurrency on: January 17, 2017, 06:49:03 AM
Do you trust the home of banking to be the new home of cryptocurrency?

Is this be a good thing for the future of cryptocurrency or will this just ensure that the banking system continues to control currency?

51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥 PUREVIDZ SALE IS COMPLETE- 85+ BTC INVESTED. THANK YOU EVERYONE 🎥 on: January 16, 2017, 02:12:24 AM
Hello everyone,

We've been steadily working towards our goals over the last few days and are happy to see we've been listed on at least one exchange so far. Since we requested a paid listing we're hoping Yobit complies in a timely fashion and adds us on Monday as per their stated guidelines.

We've updated some of the account management features allowing users with weak passwords to change them and also allowing users to further secure their account through the user of Google Authenticator. You can enable two factor for your account by logging into your dashboard and clicking Activate. On your phone, install the Google Authenticator app and scan the QR code provided. Then enter the 6 digit code and click activate. When logging into your account, you will also be prompted to enter this. If you do not have two factor enabled, you can leave the otp (one time password) field blank.

Password recovery via email will be added tomorrow, however of course this will only work if you're using a valid email. If you aren't and you lose access to your account, you'll need to contact us personally. No feature we add will forcibly require email validation. We believe this is an important step towards users maintaining their anonimity in our system. If you do want to register with a valid email address while protecting yourself, we advise using a service such as Bitmessage which is free or make a secondary email not directly associated with yourself.

Since the crowdfunding process we've been working hard to reach the point we're currently at where the site has its core functionality completed. Users have been helping grow this platform by uploading videos and as such we've made things a little more straightforward by adding a reminder about the requirements of video/audio encoding at the bottom of the upload page. If your content was rejected, you should now have a clickable delete button. In the next major update, we'll be mandating it so that when a moderator reviews your content if it's rejected a reason must be stated as to why since as an uploader we know it can be both confusing and disheartening to have your content rejected and left pondering as to why.

Our next major steps moving forward are to further refine our services making things easier to use, more fluid, etc. We expect our next major update to occur in about 2-3 weeks from now, but we'll be releasing small updates a long the way instead of everything at once to make it easier to identify if any new feature causes issues which will greatly help with testing.

After this update occurs we'll then be aiming to open our doors to the public and starting to allow other developers to cooperate with us in terms of improving our platform. If you're a developer yourself, feel free to reach out to us personally and let us know what you'd like to see in terms of api functionality and it will be taken into consideration. We're also looking for web UI/UX designers so please reach out to us if you're interested.

We'll be looking to address Twitter bounties this week, we thank you for being patient about this.

Thanks again for your support.

You guys, are awesome. Nothing inspires the people more than a hard working dev team.

We should get Kim Dotcom on board some how. This is right up his alley.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the world needs Ripple XRP - Whitepaper on: January 16, 2017, 02:00:39 AM
From what I gather you are basically just creating a new credit card company with ripple without the cards. You are not in any way trying to change the current system of finance/economics. Basically it is a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Also, ripple would not survive the collapse of bitcoin. Neither would a large majority of altcoins. I guarantee you that most of those banks that are interested in ripple will eventually carve out the bits and pieces they like and establish their own systems and leave ripple by the wayside.

And if you want people to listen to why you think your xrp is good and necessary, try not to come off as condescending.

We'll see in time. But I'm pretty sure wars will be more numerous, more important and more costly in 4 years than now.

I am not sure about it. Trump has stated that he is against unnecessary military interventions. But it needs to be seen whether he can silence the warmongers in his own party, such as John McCain and Lindsey Graham.

The guy that said he likes war isn't the warmonger? Boy we live in interesting times. Full of unicorns and delusions.
54  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who will win WW3? on: January 15, 2017, 07:41:19 AM
According to me if there would be a World War III would be the United States and Europe which would take away her because even if Russia and China have more resources the United States is Europe are more powerful and more advanced than them.

If there is a World War 3, with the US/EU fighting against Russia/China, then I think the latter will win. The US/EU has the technology, but they don't have the manpower. On the other hand, Russia has the technology and China has the manpower. A Russia-China combination would be lethal.

If Trump is intelligent, he must prevent Russia and China from getting in to an alliance.

What you are not realizing is that WW3 if it were to happen, would be a technological war. War fronts started to disappear in WWII and now they are almost nonexistent. It will have multiple fronts and the union that has the best technology will destroy the other.

I will also say the idea that there will be no victor is probably true. Even if someone comes out on top there will be rebuilding for decades after for everyone. You don't have to march into a territory to destroy it anymore. Miniature nukes and waves of drones will spell bloodshed for everyone. Electronic blackouts will kill many. It will not be pretty and I pray it will never happen, but humans are inherently stupid and forget, given time.

I will say one or two places will achieve a much better status if it did happen. Africa and South America would see a rise no one has ever seen. They are building the newest cities and infrastructures that will go well beyond the 21st century and there are many African nations that are already pegged to be top economies in this century, along with Brazil. Given a war that would once again distract Asia and the west, those continents would have much more freedom to rise. Just read up on the untapped resources in Africa and you will understand why china is pouring money and resources into it.

Seems strange to have this pop up after people questioning the huge releases of xrp by the foundation and questionable code. Me thinks some crowd control is in the works.

ripple is garbage. It has been garbage since you could get it by lending your cpu to research. And that was a loooong time ago. It has no real necessity. It is trying to be in between old currency and new and it just isn't something people need.

59  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: January 14, 2017, 08:00:23 PM
If you are debating whether the christian god is more real than the Islamic Allah, or vice versa, you are retarded. They are both the same god. They are a universal god, with differing views on how that god said things should be and how one thinks Jesus is a prophet and the other thinks he's the son of god while being god.

Fun fact, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism all pray to the same Abrahamic God. And did you also know that that god is believed to have been one of many gods from an ancient religion. Some references in the Torah to demons actually may be references to other gods from that former religion they broke from. That is also why you find one of the ten commandments explicitly states it is forbidden to pray to false idols, or other gods. So they didn't outright state the Abrahamic God was the only god, but the one true god. And since they conquered all of their region for centuries, they successfully suppressed all other gods from this former religion.

You see similar cases in the Egyptian religion when a king tried to change the religion from many gods to just a religion focused around Ra. Of course in that case the Egyptians rejected that idea and switched back to a religion of many gods soon after that king died.

That's why I reject any human knowledge of gods, as they sound less like masters of the universe and more like regional sports mascots.

I agree with the sentiment towards yobit. I don't know about you, but for some reason I always get a cryptsy vibe whenever i'm on it.

But I will say I guess it would be to use yobit to get the ball rolling on interest from investors.
