41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: irc Chat with KARPELES(MtGox) from today 25th Feb on: May 09, 2014, 03:51:58 AM
Fun Fact #2: Has anybody try to see if there's a hidden messages in that cat photo that Mark keep referencing to?

Actually, BTC_Truth has suggested quite specifically that there might be something in the image file. I had a brief look at the hex dump, but nothing jumped out at me. Perhaps BTC_Truth can elaborate further?

42  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Filing injunction by May 16 to release seized Mt. Gox bitcoins on: May 09, 2014, 03:48:26 AM
Interesting, but what sort of action would this be?
43  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Filing injunction by May 16 to release seized Mt. Gox bitcoins on: May 07, 2014, 10:13:51 PM
That is a very interesting article, thanks for posting it.

Raises the idea that in fact it was a government seizure of the cold wallets back to the level of possible, rather than a crazy conspiracy theory.

45  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SaveGox.com on: May 01, 2014, 04:09:22 AM
Soon after the MtGOX database leak, a website came up that posted some tantalising results, such as the identities of the most successful traders.  The website was suddenly taken down by the author without explanation.

What was that site? And does anyone have a copy of the database that was involved?
46  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SaveGox.com on: May 01, 2014, 04:06:40 AM
If they deliberately disclose any of the personal details you would need from their accounting system, like bitcoin addresses conected to specific accounts, I am going to sue them to hell and back.  Please list all your own details here, if this is important to you, and people can start digging from that.

Unclear what you consider personal details here. Simply the fact that a particular bitcoin address was used to withdraw funds from a specific Mt. Gox account?
47  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SaveGox.com on: May 01, 2014, 04:05:05 AM

The police can get subpoena all the internal accounting records, emails, and bank records of MtGOX and any persons they have evidence to suspect.  They can get connection logs and access non-public databases of various relevant data.  These things alone gives them immensurably more chances of finding the culprit than all the internet detectives put together.

A hired expert will have access to all that data.  Plus he will have the obligation to work hard to get to the bottom of things and avoid half-baked conclusions, PLUS he will not have to fear being sued by the people he finds evidence against, PLUS he will not be easily bribed by guilty parties.  (Soon after the MtGOX database leak, a website came up that posted some tantalising results, such as the identities of the most successful traders.  The website was suddenly taken down by the author without explanation.)

I repeat my question: what useful results have the crowd detectives obtained so far, in this or in any other bitcoin scam?

But the experts can be hired by the police or the court, preferably prior to any settlement. There is no reason to accept the terrible deal proposed by Sunlot Holdings to hire experts.
48  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SaveGox.com on: April 29, 2014, 04:56:20 PM
Well I didn't ask about the info after an audit. That's just a story, and we've had enough stories. The bitcoin community has proven themselves to be the best at auditing the block chain. No amount of 'professionals' you throw money at will convince us that the story you're telling us is true unless you release ALL of mtgox's wallet addresses.

Yes, exactly, if these people are serious then release the wallet addresses that were lost/stolen. It is simple enough, and they will be found eventually in any case.
49  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SaveGox.com on: April 29, 2014, 04:52:42 PM
Hey guys!

I'm on the SaveGox team. If you guys have questions for the team, please post them.

I'm opening this thread because Goat closed the other one.

Thanks,

-Jon

Mr. Holmquist, I must admit I have to admire your nerve (some would say temerity) to post here.

I agree with Nagle, perhaps let's first get the criminal and background records on the team.

Perhaps you can also clarify then when Bruce Fenton first became aware of the financial troubles at Mt. Gox? And precisely what information was made available to him on that date? And more specifically, whether it included any information which would have led a reasonable person to believe that Mt. Gox had lost customer funds. I am very curious about this latter question, as I imagine a number of courts may be as well.
50  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sunlot is buying Mt. Gox, hopes to make customers whole! on: April 29, 2014, 04:45:59 PM
There is no mention of Sunlot risking any of its own money in this deal.  They are taking 83.5% equity in the new company in exchange for $10M of the creditors money, at no risk to itself?  How is this an appropriate deal for the creditors?

It is an absolutely terrible deal for the creditors. I have no idea why any serious person with experience in finance would think this would work or be accepted by the administrator or the courts. It is a joke.
51  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: gox and the 20 percent payout? on: April 29, 2014, 04:42:50 PM
My point is that ALL of this is pure speculation. 850k lost Bitcoin = speculation based on MtGox comments. 200k Bitcoin found = speculation based on MtGox comments. Missing Bitcoin belongs to customers = speculation based on user comments. How do we even know that any of this is real? At this stage, the one thing that remains clear to each MtGox user is the fact that they can no longer trade, and that their funds are tied up somewhere.

Yes, precisely, it is all speculation. One key item would appear to be combining the leaked information and the blockchain to figure out what happened. Ala this effort on reddit http://redd.it/244s29.
52  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: On-the-wire byte map & OP_CHECKSIG diagram (knowledge donation!) on: April 11, 2014, 09:57:01 PM
Can we get the .svg files posted for the OP_CHECKSIG diagram somewhere? The png available at the wiki is quite small and difficult to read.
53  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Karpeles ordered to the US in order to defend Bankruptcy on: April 03, 2014, 03:56:32 AM
Sounds like the judge is not anxious to grant them bankruptcy protection unless he shows up for deposition. Would be nice to finally hear some answers under oath from MK.
54  Bitcoin / Hardware / [SOLVED] Cannot reach configuration page of asicminer block erupter cube on: March 28, 2014, 04:39:11 AM
Starting to work on USB port access. It appears the USB port has a Silicon Labs CP2102 USB-UART convertor. Drivers are available on this website: http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx.

Under MacOS X, this driver does install and presents a serial communications port as /dev/SLAB_USBtoUART.

The serial port settings appear to be 115200 baud, 8 bit word, no parity, 1 stop bit.

Watching this port shows output indicating the device periodically starts into a boot loader, an number of tests, ending in 'All tests done! BE Cube started'.

Pressing the factory reset while powered on produces the message "Config saved!" then goes through the same sequence.

This cube has now started presenting the configuration page periodically, whenever it doesn't show that it is running the self test via messages on the serial port. It is unclear if this was due to yet another factory reset with a prolonged depression of reset button, or solely due to waiting until the 'BE Cube started' message appears on the serial terminal and then accessing its web page. Once on the page, reconfiguration to another ip address was possible.

During mining the serial port outputs a sequence of a,b,c,d letters, in a mixture of upper and lower case.

When the cube cannot reach its mining pools, it appears to periodically reset, and during self test cannot be reached on the LAN port.

Therefore, if a cube appears unreachable, checking its serial port is useful as one can wait until it says 'BE Cube started' and then try and reach the configuration page.
55  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cannot reach configuration page of asicminer block erupter cube on: March 28, 2014, 03:50:32 AM
My blades are mining just fine but I can't reconfigure user/pass for other pools now.  I'm stuck mining Maza, lol.

I was kind of hoping I could dump these on eBay soon but I won't unless I can solve this issue.

Out of curiosity, you mention blades here, are they basically the same interface as the cubes?
56  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cannot reach configuration page of asicminer block erupter cube on: March 28, 2014, 03:45:53 AM
Yes, this cube that is having this problem also was previously working.
57  Bitcoin / Hardware / [SOLVED] Cannot reach configuration page of asicminer block erupter cube on: March 28, 2014, 03:24:03 AM
Hi All,

Having read through most of the posts in this forum concerning keywords like those in the title, I thought I would start a new thread for those block erupter cubes which are really unreachable on the LAN port.

That is, I have a cube hooked to a LAN with a computer on the 192.168.1.0 subnet. I have factory reset the cube multiple times. The cube powers up and has a link light on the LAN interface, but is not reachable at its nominal address http://192.168.1.254:8000. Furthermore, it doesn't respond to a ping or to a broadcast ping.

What is the best procedure for trying to get one of these to work under these circumstances? Is there a known method of using the USB port to interrogate this or reset the firmware? Any documentation on the USB port?

thanks,
58  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gox to Announce they found 670,000 btc? on: March 25, 2014, 10:34:03 PM
Mt. Gox is not going anywhere until the Tokyo District Court and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police are through with it.

Nah, they have only made an application. They can just cancel the application. Court has 0 power if they now come out and say we are being acquired and everyone will be made whole.

Really?
That would be one heck of a story.

It is correct that the Japanese court has not yet ordered commencement of the civil rehabilitation procedure. They have only provided a protective order for Mt. Gox based on their application.
