42  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [REFERENCE] Magazines & Newspapers with Bitcoin Articles (Pre 2009 - 2019) on: June 20, 2019, 06:42:18 AM
Prediction: now that Facecoin - the shitcoin to rule them all - has been announced and is starting the long process of being digested by the popular media, most major magazines and newspapers will regularly print articles about cryptocurrency.  I think that the specialness of bitcoin/crypto-focused articles ended today, and collectors in the future will most highly prize publications on or before June 19th, 2019.  We are now in a new era.

One more:  GQ June 2014 has a great article on Bitcoin:  https://www.gq.com/story/bitcoin

It's not on the cover but it's a great article with an excellent lead pic Smiley

45  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Establishing A Will -With Collectibles In Mind on: April 25, 2019, 03:36:13 AM
Thanks for raising this very important issue.

Many of us are paranoid (for good reason!) so we can make the mistake of using a security system that is far too complex for our loved ones in case we die.  If they can't easily figure it out, then they are more likely to go onto google or reddit and look for help - and quickly get scammed.  So it is important to do a "test run" of your security system with your heirs to see if they can figure it out without any input from you.

There are a bunch of new multisig security systems that are easy to use and provide very strong security, such as the Casa system:  https://keys.casa/
These can help a lot with estate planning while preserving security.

49  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] New Yorker and Economist Bitcoin Magazines on: March 26, 2019, 12:11:05 AM
Looking to sell these two Magazines (preferably as a bundle).
The New Yorker is said to feature one of the first articles written about Bitcoin (2011).
The economist magazine features Bitcoin on its cover and includes an inner article too.
Both magazines are in good nick considering their age but signs of wear are normal and can be found.

Looking to sell both for 0.065BTC
Shipping worldwide for $15.
Will entertain offers for each individual mag.

Thanks Smiley

Cool magazines!  I love reading these early articles about Bitcoin.

51  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Casascius Error Coin, First Day Funded (Proceeds to Zephers Family) on: March 21, 2019, 06:44:06 PM
How many first day funded coins were made?  I've never seen one come up for auction

I generated this (warning! big file) some time ago. It shows that 70 coins were funded in the first funding transaction. Second transaction funded 60 coins, 4 blocks later.
Third funding transaction (83 blocks later) funded 39 coins. And so on..

So you can even say that a certain coin is a

First funding transaction..first day or
Second funding transaction..first day...etc

Kinda of born on the same day..but who was first?

Interesting Anduck!

Agreed, this is really cool Anduck!  Smiley
52  Economy / Collectibles / Re: ANN - Lightning Anniversary Polymerbit Bills on: March 19, 2019, 03:47:49 PM
Slightly confused about the format.  So if you aren't one of the top 50 bids then is it a donation or will the people who aren't one of the top 50 bids get a refund?

This is what they wrote  50 Lightning Bills - The 50 largest BIDS will win the bills.  All other bids will be donated.

From what I take is if you are one of the 50 top bidders you will win, if not your bid will be a donation.

Thanks Krogoth   Smiley

54  Economy / Collectibles / ANN - Lightning Anniversary Polymerbit Bills on: March 15, 2019, 01:02:35 AM
Ok Lightning Fanatics!  Since March 15th is the anniversary of LND Lightning implementation Mainnet release we want to share a special project created anonymously!  A ONE OF A KIND Limited Addition Lightning Network Paper Bill created by Polymberbit!  The bills are being auctioned by Lightning enthusiast twitter user @lightning_hood who runs www.lightninghood.com

https://imgur.com/a/vvcQD7J

The bills are being auctioned off here:  https://btcpay.lightninghood.com/apps/4MRvm7WscMEHrGrvGEjrTiGsUrt/crowdfund

There are only 100 bills printed and each bill has a specified Serial number.  50 bills are being auctioned and 50 are being given to prominent Lightning developers and educators.

The purpose of the bills are to showcase where the Lightning Network came from in a very nice quality bill form designed by an anonymous creator and made by www.polymerbit.com .  Around the bill you will see many Lightning Network projects in the space.

All proceeds will help fund two important projects in the space.  50% of the proceeds will be going directly to @renepickhardt for his Lightning Network Book project and the other 50% will be donated to @btcven.  See the below links for reference.

https://github.com/renepickhardt/The-Lightning-Network-Book

https://www.bitcoinvenezuela.com/

These bills will be auctioned off to the top 50 bidders, the MINIMUM DONATION will be $5.99 to receive a Bill.  Once bidding ends, we will email everyone to get their address of choice for us to ship too.  Come grab them right off the press!  ⚡️⚡️

**Disclaimer - There is no actual Bitcoin on/in these Bills**

Cool set of rare magazines!

Worth noting that Bitcoin Magazine has announced plans to re-start physical printing of their magazines in 2019:  https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/welcome-regenesis-bitcoin-magazine/

This will probably increase the profile & value of the original series over time.

I’m never saying no to a good looking crypto- related collectable.
Great idea, as long as you make sure all of us collectors are able to get one Cheesy
Perhaps you can get casascius to make one last round of coins, similar to his superbowl coin.
As the first one who created physical crypto coins, that would definitely be a great thing!

Cheers,

Great idea Bavi!   (To ask Mike Caldwell of Casascius to design it)

Love the idea for a 10-year anniversary coin.
