Nobody called this today, it's in freefall at the moment with a huge order of almost 10,000 coins up around the $10 mark.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fake bid wall at $12 vanished...now watch the one at $11 vanish. on: July 05, 2011, 07:03:56 PM
Damn............down to 11.1 right now.................glad I sold to an outside buyer at $18 each, this is nuts, but I have a great chance to buy in as I have $850 coming into Dwolla by 5pm tonight. I'm pumped, hopefully I can get a ton of BTC.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You have 5 days mtgox on: July 03, 2011, 09:20:53 PM
Try one of the other exchanges and hopefully you'll have a better experience.
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PAYPAL SCAM ALERT, scammer is John Binns and paypal. on: July 03, 2011, 09:19:29 PM
I took payment from a guy via paypal, but it wasn't through ebay, and so far no problems, but it's only been about 3 days. I knew the risk going in, got his phone number, address, etc. etc. and these horror stories will keep me from dealing with ebay and paypal in regards to these types of scams. Whatever happened to seller protection though? And what about all the people selling gold and silver through ebay?

47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is just fine - working as intended on: July 02, 2011, 10:32:55 PM

can't help to notice these "bitcoin is fail" threads.

sorry if you're not getting rich because you bought a shitload of em after you saw it on a news website.

people are buying and selling goods with em.

there are exchanges that deal with em.

donations are being made with em.

it serves a purpose to all who use em.

it has some hurdles to overcome.

but in the long and short -

bitcoin will survive as long as we want it to.

...just sayin...

Agreed, it's way too easy for people to get negative and try to bring this thing down when it's really just begun. Too many people thought they were going to turn a quick buck and make out like a bandit on the way up. This thing is young, give it time.

Love the videos and will continue to watch.
49  Economy / Speculation / Re: How I know that the Bitcoin boat has sailed on: July 02, 2011, 06:31:10 PM
Yes, another thread about the falling Bitcoin price.

I know the ship has sailed because I have finally put money into Bitcoins and every investment that I finally get around to making is at the end of its hayday.

Back in 2001 I finally bought some dotcom stock so that I could get in on the millions that everyone else had been making for the past few years...I had followed it closely from early on and finally bit the bullet and jumped in. That is when the dotcom bubble burst. I lost all of my investment.

I did see the gold thing skyrocketing back in 2005 so I knew that it would go up. So I dropped $20,000 in when it was $400 per ounce. Then my company, SAIC announced that they were going to IPO in a year and that they were offering employees share purchases up to $20,000. So I waited while gold JUMPED to $425 and sold sold sold...and put all of that money into SAIC's IPO at $42 per share which eventually split and dropped and I eventually got my money out at $18 per share.

Then came housing...I bought a house in 2007 at the height of the housing bubble. Fortunately I bought my house in Texas which was not as expensive as other places, needless to say, I lost money when I sold it 2 years later. I sold that house and bought a house in Florida...needless to say, the Florida market is not doing all that great right now.

I found out about BitCoins about a year ago and tried to get the mining to work on my computer but after it rebooted once it started coming up with errors so I gave up on trying to mine, back when a Bitcoin was worth less than a dollar.

I have always planned on getting some Bitcoins but just never got around to it...until this past week. I finally got money transferred through my Dwolla to MtGox and bought at $16.00 per BitCoin.

Expect BitCoin to now crumble like all of my other investments.

I have also been looking into land in Costa Rica...

Yes!!! I'm just about to buy more BTC......maybe I shouldn't?
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Huge Television Ad for Bitcoin on All the Major Networks on: July 02, 2011, 06:29:11 PM
I think that without a serious improvement to the client and usability, attracting "normals" to Bitcoin in droves is a recipe for a flop.
I couldn’t agree more. We don’t even have encrypted wallets yet, nor do we have mature exchanges. Really, the entire ecosystem needs work. Even the bitcoin.org website doesn’t look professional at all. I don’t want to see more bubbles and pump and dump, thank you.

Let’s consolidate and make Bitcoin ready for the next wave BEFORE it hits.

Agreed 100%
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Huge Television Ad for Bitcoin on All the Major Networks on: July 02, 2011, 06:22:07 PM
Will there be a section in the e-book written by Carlton Sheets explaining how to make millions in real estate with no money down?

A late-night TV ad that sells an e-book might spread the word, but what word will it spread?  Bitcoin will be forever associated with the Ronco smokeless ashtray or pocket fisherman.

The "What is Bitcoin" video is superb.  No, it's brilliant.  Use that.  Pay more for airtime, play it less, and don't sell it like a salad shooter.

This, if you want bitcoin to look like a late night infomercial scam then doing this to bitcoin is a great idea! This has the potential to crush bitcoin before it ever gets started. How did facebook become popular? Through word of mouth, not through late night infomercials that cheapen the product. This will relegate bitcoin to cheap scam status.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Huge Television Ad for Bitcoin on All the Major Networks on: July 02, 2011, 02:11:09 AM
A bitcoin infomercial idea that was thought up by tv producers that are mainstream...........color me not interested. Having a bitcoin infomercial that airs late at night will more than likely make it look like a joke. Let's think about who watches tv at 3am........
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: CRASH! on: July 01, 2011, 11:50:02 PM
Why are so many sellers giving in at these lower levels?
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need to open a Tradehill account on: July 01, 2011, 10:53:30 PM
Tradehill are now trading in AUS $$ so I want to open an account.

Who's got a referral link for me to click and what are you offering?

Referral links in sig.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Report Volume 18 (Eureka!) on: July 01, 2011, 05:58:38 AM
Nice video and keep up the good work, I was interested in mining until the recent difficulty increases, and I had also checked out that site, but the cost versus potential BTC's seemed in favor of buying over mining.
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin7 introduces security certificate on: July 01, 2011, 03:40:25 AM
In order I would rank it Mt. Gox, Bitcoin7, and then Tradehill. I just don't like the user interface of Tradehill at all compared to the other two, and the only reason I have Mt. Gox over BT7 is because of the number of users.
57  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy or Mine? on: July 01, 2011, 03:35:22 AM
Buy, use the referral links in my sig to do so  Wink

You do realize how small 10% of transaction fees are? Probably not enough to troll the forum.

But enough for you to troll with your website which has your referral link to your Tradehill account referral? Ahhh I see..... Smiley Either way no big deal, I only have 1 Tradehill referral, but I do have 11 to Bitcoin7, and the more people involved in the community the better.

59  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to Bitcoins, having trouble getting them. on: July 01, 2011, 02:47:42 AM
We live in such a nasty world.

So true. But bitcoin's issues here aren't any worse than cash, it's just easier for you to do business with anyone anywhere.

One method of getting bitcoins you don't hear much is Ripple. Ripple is basically a peer-to-peer clearinghouse for credit transfers, bitcoin is just one of the currencies supported. It only attempts transfers between folks who already trust each other, but it creates a web of trust so credits can practically be transfered to anywhere once you've got a good trust network.

If you worry about being scammed, you should check it out.

website? also, do you just transfer money to someone for bitcoins?

Sign up for one of the exchanges, transfer funds from bank account to liberty reserve or dwolla, take funds and put them in your account at BT7, Tradehill, or Mt. Gox and then start buying bitcoins. If you need a referral to Bitcoin7 or Tradehill check my sign below.
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox - Trading Halted - How Long Can this Nonsense Carry On? on: July 01, 2011, 01:55:44 AM
Come on Mt. Gox! Sign up for the other exchanges people, this is nuts.
