41  Bitcoin / Mining support / Want to see examples of a riser setup on: June 26, 2011, 06:50:54 AM
I just got a new motherboard and it has 2 PCI-e 16x slots, and 2 PCI-e 8x slots. I would like to run 4 cards but don't have a lot of experience with risers. Does anyone have a setup that they can post some pictures from?

You need a secure savings account for large chunks of bitcoins and use the active one on your server for day to day transactions to minimize the amount you lose if you eventually get your wallet stolen.

44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin client display merging income from several addresses on: June 26, 2011, 06:32:03 AM
I'm pretty sure that every time you do a transaction your wallet generates a new address. All the addresses that display in your bitcoin UI are attached to the same wallet. This is a security measure so you can't duplicate transactions.

I, of course, could be wrong.

I like it!!!

Thanks! I'm hoping to add more tutorials to it in the very near future.

Is there anything that I should cover? Any reoccurring topics that I can dive into?
46  Economy / Services / Re: Advertising on my site on: June 26, 2011, 02:42:25 AM
I am looking for around 1 bitcoin for this sidebar and 2 for the main content banner per 1 or 2 months. If the site averages less then 300 hits per day I will give whoever is advertising another free month. I am open to other formats of advertising as well but I want to maintain the friendliness and usability of the site as well.

Also, I will be posting more tutorials and stuff for the community continuously as well so that will boost things.

I have an offer in on the sidebar for 1btc so you would have to beat that + the value of mid post advertising.
what about 1.05

I'll give you a banner post in the middle of all the pages for that, and keep the sidebar for the other guy.

bitcoinprofits.us is where I will be launching an info product about bitcoins, for marketers.  "Make money with bitcoins" kinda stuff.  But first, they must know what it is, and what it isn't.

Added - Make sure you make a links section to add everyone to your site.

bittalk.tv

Atom and I just started a Bitcoin podcast today. Your linking would be appreciated.

I added you and am listening to your podcast right now. I thought if was going to be so nerdy I would listen all the way through for a laugh but it's actually really good and I intend to continue to listed. I think this will be really good for the community.

Thanks a lot Trader Steve! I haven't had time to check to see who all put links up but I will probably be making a list of all the people that are participating by putting the links on their site so we can make sure everyone is getting a fair exchange of links.

what about a add that like scrolls with the page

They annoy the shit out of me so I'm not willing to do it to others.

I'll go sidebar or or I am willing to put 468x60 banners within the post. I can do both if I have multiple people interested.

Where would said advertising reside on the page(s)?  Size?  Image or text only?

I would like to keep it on the sidebar - 160 x 600. If the money is right, I might be willing to work with you on other options.

I would like to sell advertising on my site. I'm currently getting between 200-400 hits a day and they are very interactive users. There in no minimum offer that I will not consider.

Hey....I'm not afraid to say it...I spent days of screwing around with the GUIminer program and couldn't get it to work. I'm not exactly an advanced user, but I finally understood how to set it up correctly after finding your website the other day  Grin I like how well your site is coming along.

Not everyone is an expert when it comes to these things. I'm trying to make the bitcoin community something that everyone can get into and on top of that, they can learn some new things in the process. I'm glad you got what you needed from my site and I hope you enjoyed it.

am i missing the point and cant i just put the bitcoins on my usb stick and then keep my usb stick in my safe ?!?!
thus having no need for a e-wallet ?!?!
cheers dom

The problem with that is when you need to access your wallet you will be putting it back on the same system that might have trojans already. The reason we use a bootable edition of Ubuntu is because it's clean and you get a brand new OS every time. That way every time you go to use your wallet, it's at no risk of any Trojans.

I have a detailed guide on my site in case you feel a little bit overwhelmed.

If you already had the GUI set up and then added another card, you might have to delete some of your config files in the app folder and reinstall. Just make sure you back up your wallet before you go doing anything crazy.
