http://www.smh.com.au/business/what-are-bitcoins-20140805-100lql.htmlCoinarch CEO Jeremy Glaros sits down with Llew Jury to discuss the basics of Bitcoin, the opportunities it offers, and how Coinarch's products fit into the Bitcoin ecosystem. A start in the right direction for Bitcoin news in Australia...please excuse lack of technicality in the article as the editor desired more simplicity in an attempt to reach a larger audience.

My 2 satoshi's worth:
btc-e (pretty reliable for the most part, unknown people behind it a fairly large concern) bitstamp (reliable, solid) cryptsy (has it's issue(s), but best overall place I've found for my alt trades)

Can you sue liquidators for wasting 100k of our money and being inactive?
I've worked with liquidators on a professional level in the past. They make real estate agents look honest. The strategy they seem to react most to is anything press related. If possible you should look to get something published in the jurisdiction they are working in (NZ from memory).

To expand on that point, it is just like regular exchanges and lending. Credit risk gets built into the price so sites/exchanges that have high credit risk (ie you might not get your money back) have a risk premium. In this case it means that you'd be more willing to pay more on a trusted exchange rather than spend less to buy at an exchange that may or may not go out of business (eg MtGox).

Any news about when things are back to normal?

Out of interest, how long was BTC-e down for?

What's the Aus version of The Guardian, or do you literally mean the Australian version of the Guradian? haha. I imagine he means the Australian edition of the Guardian: they now publish online a UK, US and Aus edition. Spot on, www.theguardian.com/au. I find it the most efficient way to get world and aussie news. Fairfax papers have gone completely backwards in the last decade.

I think I'm like all of you guys that it dropping a bit isn't the worst thing that could happen. Having said that I don't want Mt Gox to collapse as that will take a long time for the community to recover.

There are always going to be bumps in the road on a journey like this. I was almost expecting much more carnage and chaos with the Mt Gox announcement. It appears that one user just wanted to liquidate their holdings (potentially accumulated a many years ago for a pittance) and didn't care what price they were getting out at.

Don't forget that the Internet will fail also, "The Internet? Bah!" (1995 Newsweek) http://thenextweb.com/shareables/2010/02/27/newsweek-1995-buy-books-newspapers-straight-intenet-uh/#!u5Hzx. Whenever something so revolutionary as bitcoin hits the public consciousness it is very difficult to accept and imagine the new world that is getting laid in front of us. I remember when I first used the world wide web back in 1995 and was blown away by the possibilities, most of which I could never imagine (online banking, social networks, etc).
