41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Libertarians and Governments will swap what they think about bitcoin, in future! on: May 24, 2014, 05:49:19 AM
If you create a new public address and somebody sends bitcoin to it, there is NO WAY for anybody to determine who owns that. Could be anybody in the world.

If you SEND bitcoin from an address, you are more easily tracked down as which nodes received the transaction first. It still would be very difficult to find the exact IP address it originated from.

Am I wrong and if so how?
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: How die hard are you? on: May 23, 2014, 07:11:37 PM
Need some help. How does a person respond to these polls? I'd like to participate but am missing something. Help please.

How does one vote in these polls? I can't figure it out. Thanks.

Watched the video. This guy is an arrogant ass.

Be careful though. Would you send cash to somebody you don't know on the other side of the globe? Sending bitcoin is the same as cash. If the other guy decides to rip you off, what is your recourse? If he claims he never received it or that you sent it to the wrong address, what is your recourse?

I think bitcoin is far better for face to face sales at least at this point.  Maybe some sort of escrow service will be used for online purchases but right now you are relying strictly on the reputation of the receiving individual.

Caveat Emptor!

46  Economy / Economics / Re: Ron Paul Doesn’t Believe Bitcoin is “True Money” on: May 03, 2014, 05:50:31 AM
Ron Paul is not going to tell you why Bitcoin is not money. He will not answer the question -guaranteed. And his loving loyal followers won't press him to answer the question. Ron Paul is for Ron Paul.
Ask him why libertarians want the government to control women bodies but leave corporations alone.

Libertarians do not want to control women's bodies. Conservatives do. There's a difference.

Simply said, Libertarians are for anything that increases freedom and against anything that decreases freedom.

Legalize drugs, that's a personal choice.
Legalize gay marriage, marry a darn chair if you want to.
The only purpose of government is to protect individual rights. That means police, military and the courts. Absolutely nothing else.

Off my soapbox. This is not the right forum.
47  Economy / Economics / IRS says we are are criminals now on: April 30, 2014, 08:04:05 AM
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-14-21.pdf

According to the link above, if we pay for pretty much anything with Bitcoin, we are obligated to report the trade of "property" to the IRS and issue a 1099 MISC to the receiver of the Bitcoin.

Further, all miners are required to report mined Bitcoin as income.

Does anybody see this being efficiently enforced?

Is this going to be yet another law that the administration is going to "selectively enforce" depending on whether or you not you donated to the correct campaign?

Tyranny is nearby.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / More anonymous than cash. Can Bitcoin be used over the web safely? on: April 25, 2014, 03:33:15 AM
As a recent victim of Bitcoin fraud, I realized too late that sending Bitcoin to an address is the equivalent of sending cash in the mail to someone you don't know.  You need total trust on the part of the recipient that they'll deliver what they promise.

It seems to me that there needs to be a completely unbiased website that evaluates the trustworthiness of every Bitcoin merchandiser and publishes the results. Sort of like a Better Business Bureau.

For a face to face exchange, Bitcoin remains ideal though.

Any thoughts?
