I'm beginning to wonder if all the people complaining about a lack of educational material on cryptocurrency, are the same people that spent zero time looking into ICOs before diving in the deep end??

eToro Survey: 44% of Investors Identify Education As Main Barrier To Crypto Trading

A new survey from eToro has found that nearly half of online investors state that a lack of educational resources is the main reason for not trading crypto.

The global investment platform commissioned Provoke Insights, an independent market research and strategy firm, to conduct the online survey among 1,000 online investors between the ages of 20 and 65. Notably, it found that education is a key barrier to investors from buying cryptocurrencies, with 44% indicating as such.

Even among Millennials a lack of education is felt, with 40% saying that the main reason they don't invest in cryptocurrencies is due to limited educational resources. However, despite the 2018 bear market, it hasn't done much to slow investors' interest in the industry. In fact, the survey found that 97% of both Millennial and Gen X crypto traders said they are interested in learning more about cryptocurrencies.

Online investors are still keeping their eye on cryptocurrencies, but this survey revealed that there is a serious lack of educational resources available to those who would like to invest in or learn more about crypto, said Guy Hirsch, the U.S. managing director at eToro. As we move toward a future where assets will become increasingly tokenized, it's important to give investors access to the resources they need to invest in the assets they want and truly consider crypto assets as part of their long-term investment plan.

According to the survey, there are limited ways investors are keeping up-to-date with their crypto learning. This is through their online trading platform and social media, at 67% and 43%, respectively. Regarding social media, YouTube and online crypto chat forums seem to be the most used avenues.

Seeking Financial Advice

Of note is the fact that Millennials are more likely to seek out financial advice compared to Gen X or Baby Boomer online investors.

Those within the Millennial camp who plan on using a financial advisor for buying or selling products such as stocks, ETFs or crypto assets is noted at 19%. Yet, only 11% of Gen X and 12% of Baby Boomers indicated they would do the same. Looking six months down the line and the results are only slightly different: 23% for Millennials and 14% for Gen X.

When it comes to those who don't invest in cryptocurrencies, 73% of Millennials said they were more likely to invest if advised by a financial advisor, along with 58% of Gen X and 49% for Baby Boomers.

This makes sense as the top of the Millennial generation is approaching 40 and is starting to accumulate a significant amount of wealth and are looking at their investments over the long-term, said Hirsch. Financial advisors have a lot of opportunity to tap into crypto as an asset class. There is clearly a demand - especially among Millennials - to include crypto assets as part of a long-term investment strategy.

DNotes EDU – Cryptocurrency Education For All – Accomplishments of 2018

2018 has been a very busy year at DNotes EDU. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing support and positive feedback. Thank you to everyone in the cryptocurrency, cyber-security, and financial industries that create amazing and easy to understand educational video content that can be shared with the world via Youtube. We are especially grateful to DNotes Global CEO Alan Yong, Chief Technology Officer Theodore Hauenstein, and Chief Communications Officer Ken Chase, for their unwavering support of this project.

After six sleep-deprived months of research and writing, we unveiled a total makeover of the DNotes EDU platform in February, 2018. One of the most important aspects that had to be dealt with, was to fill in the missing pieces between what a new user understood about cryptocurrency, and what the industry referred to as “beginner level” or “user friendly”. What we found to be missing was the first 20 floors of a high rise building, that was trying to support a penthouse perched on top. There is still a lot of work to do, and it would go much faster if we worked together to support trustworthy projects.

We have always believed that the need for a basic level of financial literacy is paramount in understanding how beneficial cryptocurrency can be to the everyday user. The new module format at DNotes EDU has twelve sections that cover the most common aspects of personal financial planning, and eleven that deal with digital currency.

Without addressing issues such as these, the ever elusive mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency may forever remain unattainable.

It’s an honor for me to be associated with a group of volunteers who have been working relentlessly in building an incredible educational platform as the linchpin to mass adoption of cryptocurrency for global commerce. I am in absolute agreement that, “We have always believed that the need for a basic level of financial literacy is paramount in understanding how beneficial cryptocurrency can be to the everyday user.” Congratulations, Chase and Brandon for a job well done.

Proposed Bill Would Prevent Cryptos from Being Defined as Securities in U.S.

https://dcebrief.com/proposed-bill-would-prevent-cryptos-from-being-defined-as-securities-in-u-s/

That is great news! As always amazingly well written with all the pertinent information Ken. Well worth a read.

According to Davidson:

“In the early days of the internet, Congress passed legislation that provided certainty and resisted the temptation to over-regulate the market. Our intent is to achieve a similar win for America’s economy and for American leadership in this innovative space.”

Great efforts. While this bill is largely symbolic, it this important that our political leadership is mindful that to maintain or gain competitive global advantage we must provide “certainty and resist the temptation to over-regulate the market. Our intent is to achieve a similar win for America’s economy and for American leadership in this innovative space” as we did during the Internet era. I strongly believe that the job and wealth creation will far exceed that of the Internet.

Conference Update:

Out of nearly one hundred conferences I have attended in various industries over my career, The Family Office Super Summit, we just participated in Miami, is by far the best. It was very productive and delightful. We enjoyed the time spent and made many new friends whom we will treasure for a long time. Raising investment capital is a long process and about building trust and sustained relationship. We have certainly found the right group to work with.

I am sending out nearly 200 personalized emails to a list of new contacts from this conference and thought you might be interested to have a sneak peek:

Dear ______,

It was a pleasure meeting you in person at the Family Office Super Summit in Miami last week. I am honored to be among a distinguished list of speakers and thought that Richard and his team did an excellent job. Hope you found it equally as productive as I did and looking forward to seeing you again next December.

DNotes Global is positioned very differently for long-term strategic reasons. DNotes is the least hyped, most undervalued coin in our industry and never participated in any ICO.  I have been involved in this project, self-funded, for the last five years with a highly motivated team relentlessly focused on building DNotes as the inclusive trusted digital currency to gain mass adoption. Here is a link for your reference: https://dnotesglobal.com/DNotesGlobal-A-Generational-Opportunity.pdf

We are very strategic in building a fully integrated ecosystem, as a vital part of our foundation to be a major global corporation. It will involve three rounds of funding. In progress is the first round using Reg. D 506 (c) to raise $5 million from accredited investors, followed immediately by Reg. A+ Mini-IPO Tier 2 to raise $50 million from accredited and non-accredited investors worldwide. The third round is a full-blown IPO in 3 to 5 years. This is a big and bold global project that is purposeful with significant positive world changing implications.

Mass adoption of digital currency will not materialize without the full participation of women. CryptoMoms, which we founded almost 5 years ago, has evolved to become HERo. A new website will be launched in the next week or two. We love to have your support and sponsorship. Here is a link for your preview: https://nextgenhero.io/

I know that you are an influencer in our industry and have done great work. Any help you can offer in our funding efforts and getting DNotes listed on a major exchange will be very much appreciated.

Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

 Best regards,
Alan”

Bloomberg: Proposed Chinese Crypto Could Increase Beijing’s Control

https://dcebrief.com/bloomberg-proposed-chinese-crypto-could-increase-beijings-control/

This is a very slippery slope of immense risk. It will lead to significant lose of assets and privacy. In brief, this will negatively impact the cryptocurrency issuance nation, its citizens, and others who do business with the subject nation – including foreign visitors.

I cannot think of a wise case for any sovereign nation. The true value of digital currency using it ingenious underpinning blockchain technology is the issuance of a defined limited supply of currency governed by algorithm in a decentralized entity not controlled by anyone, for everyone globally, with pseudo- anonymity.

Seems lively  Cheesy Do you already have any impressions? Will the conference meet the expectations?

Absolutely, though they have very little time to give us any updates the general read is: It is a full house. It's pretty fast paced, understandably as there are so many people there. They have handed out a lot of materials and business cards from the DNotes booth. The expectation is that potential investors will do their due diligence on us and get back to us later.

Anxious to hear from Alan on the Family Office Conference!

The Family Office super Summit just ended with great success. Of the near 100 industry conferences that I have participated in my career, this is among the top, possibly the very best for our situation. They promised 1,000 and over 1,200 showed up. I meet with more people of significant substance that I ever imagined possible over a 48-hour period.

We had wanted to reach out beyond our industry in the pursuit of DNotes’ vision to build an inclusive trusted digital currency that provides a generational opportunity for everyone worldwide. That can only be accomplished with various rounds of funding and the participation of many high net worth investors. We found the right group and will work very hard to win their trust and develop a strong relationship. Many have already eagerly connected with us. Our time and investment have been well spent.

We met many new friends and gained great respect from them for our projects. There are also many opportunities for joint venture. With some follow-up I believe that this show will yield great result.

My wife, Lucy and Tim (TeeGee) were most helpful supporting our efforts at this show. Dan (Denver Dan) had an opportunity to spend a full day with us yesterday. That was another great day with much to share and learn.  We always enjoy spending time with DNotes’ supporters and never turn a great steak dinner. We have a fantastic time.

Lucy has already convinced a few ladies to joined HERo that we planned to launch next week.

The next generation of CryptoMoms is here, as we have evolved to become HERo. We have expanded our efforts to be inclusive of all the women worldwide, enabled by hyper-connectivity. Hero is non-political - designed to promote entrepreneurship and transformational technologies for women of all ages. We are committed to the belief that knowledge, entrepreneurial endeavors, and a positive mindset for responsible self-empowerment hold the key to empowering women to close the gender gap and reach their full human potential.

It starts with you. Join us. Together we can change the world for all genders.

Yeah, worldwide alexa rank has improved by about 200k positions in 5 weeks also. Pretty solid effort.

This is quite impressive considering that DCEBrief currently has a small fraction of the writers that leading news outlets like CoinDesk do. CoinDesk has been steadily declining in traffic for some time now, while DCEBrief is just getting started.

DCEBrief has great growth potential. There is a lot more that we can do. Our team has been doing a very good job and we are most grateful - especially to Tim for all his extra efforts.

Primoz, [27.11.18 08:29]
I can't wait for the recovery of the market and DNotes reaching its full potential, then it will be Christmas each month🎅😎😀

I know that it will require a little more patience, but considering the general situation on the market today it is understandable. I believe that DNotes will come out of this general crypto crysis/mess as one of the winners💪😀

Alan Yong, [27.11.18 09:37]
Thanks, Primoz. I believe we will. That's why we are not slowing down but full steam ahead. Our participation at the Family Office Super Summit in Miami along will cost us   $15, 000. Since this is an amazing reach beyond our own industry, I believe that it will be well worth it. We are also spending a lot of money on PR. Others may use that to buy a handful of Bitoins to pump up the price. We are focused on doing what is best for DNotes over the long-term.

Crypto Bulls: Bitcoin Price Is Correcting, Not Collapsing Bubble

https://dcebrief.com/crypto-bulls-bitcoin-price-is-correcting-not-collapsing-bubble/

While this may not be a bubble bursting, it is a major correction.  Unrealistic expectation and massive creation of “value” out of thin air is never sustainable. In that regards, this is a healthy correction. It is a much need reality check.

But make no mistake, the industry and its under blockchain technology is here to stay. We have only witnessed the formative stage of an ingenious technology that has many world-changing implications. It is a natural progression of the technology evolution that started with the emergence of personal computers, wireless communication, and the Internet. Digital currency is the future of money.

I have no doubt that this is a generational opportunity for everyone worldwide. There are many great projects. But most of the coin tokens happened to be pointless pipe dreams they are over-shadowing the rest of the industry. Unfortunately, in any major corrections, everyone is painted with the same brush.

This is a great time do your homework and re-balance your portfolio. Remember, great projects of substance are verifiable and sustainable. They are likely to have been around for some time. Good luck.

I definitely appreciate your commitment to excellence.

Quote from Alan today:

Thanks, wiser. We must remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence and trustworthiness.

The negative headlines about our industry have been appearing with increasing frequency. While it is going through a painful correction, the sky is not falling. It is always healthy to make an adjustment after an insane period of price manipulation to unsustainable highs.

The technology is just as amazing, with many more viable projects in development. I intent to write a few articles that are positive and inspirational.

Our launching of HERO (evolution of CryptoMoms) is expected to be very inspirational and positive).

Hero VISION:

Our vision is to nourish and support a positive, welcoming, and resourceful environment that fosters the creation of a hero culture where change, equality, and opportunity start with you. It is a culture that inspires and empowers you to take full advantage of the benefits offered by a new digital age of global commerce and collaboration.

Quote from Steve Cass Today:

I was just trying to think of the price history of DNote and for the life of me cannot think how i would find out. Any idea's someone?

Quote from Alan Yong Today:

Sorry, I don’t have much time to spare. But I did look at CoinMarketCap. It seems accurate for the most part.

DNotes started trading at Allcoin at $0.9947 cents with a market cap of $23,715 on March 8, 2014. What is striking was the price stability with a progressive higher high and high low for the first few years.

We were among the top 50s then until ICOs began to take off. We have always been about substance, not fluff. But it did not matter when investors were more interested to make a quick buck.

We are always committed to building a solid foundation for DNotes to gain mass adoption as the inclusive trusted digital currency for global commerce. Over the last 4 ˝ years our efforts have been relentless. That tradition will continue with growing intensity.

Despite the severe industry down trend, we have no doubt that DNotes will be among the few left standing, when everything is said and done.

Great post Alan, and thank you for always keeping it real!

Many of us have seen this coming for a long time, and I  am very proud of the work that has been done by our team to educate people on the risks of investing in cryptocurrency, and in particular ICOs. It was not an easy path to take. When it seemed like the rest of the world was promoting often illegal and/or fraudulent ICOs, we were willing to take a stand and do the right thing.

As far as what will happen next, I believe history will repeat itself and only the strong will survive.

This article is from 2011, but is even more relevant today:

5 Successful Companies That Survived The Dotcom Bubble

The dotcom era was a speculative bubble formed by the rapid rise and interest in internet companies. During the five years leading up to the peak, many businesses were born with the primary focus of gaining market share through brand building and networking. The theory was that out of a collection of like companies, one was bound to "make it", and businesses and investors alike were more than willing to put their bets on the table. Getting big fast was key to survival, as companies raced to acquire substantial market share, sacrificing profits along the way. With an unprecedented amount of individual investing, the boom pushed the Nasdaq Composite Index to an all-time high of 5132.52 on March 10, 2000.

On March 10, 2000, the Nasdaq reached an all-time high of 5132.52, after which the index faltered until October 9, 2002, having lost 78% of its value.

The next day, the bubble popped and one company after another imploded, fueling an internet sector freefall that lasted for the next two and a half years. Businesses and investors were forced to acknowledge that venture capital and initial public offerings did not guarantee income or make up for the lack of sound business plans. With the spectacular rise and subsequent crash of many of these dotcom companies, few were left standing after the dust had settled.

The 5 companies were Amazon.com, Ebay, Priceline.com, Shutterfly, Coupons.com

As always, it’s great to see you on the forum, Chase. And thanks so much for your support.

Thanks for sharing the dot com article. It is very telling. We should have learned but we didn’t.

What would I do if I were a partner of a Hedge Fund with some dried power left?

I would be working twice as hard to identify the 10 most likely coins to be left standing after the dust settled and I would go all in. The technology and industry are here to stay. What is different is that there will be many more new players and it’s going to be massive.

We are well positioned to be an industry leader and strategically built to weather the storm. We are always advancing along a well-defined path because we have a clear vision – mass adoption of DNotes as the inclusive trusted digital currency.

Tons of interesting news coming out amongst severe recent price decline.

The bot is really cool -- being able to trade any pair on Bittrex and Stex is a very handy tool. It's a great demonstration of how DNotes pay can work, and I can only look forward to a shop full of partner products where software companies add DNotes pay as an additional accepted currency for their product.

Yeap, I lost from the drop, but I believe that from that type of terrible falls, I will learn lots of things from them, and those falls will play important role in my life in future.
Dnotes pay worked fined.  Grin

Welcome motienvolam, the markets have had a significant impact on everyone recently. I hope you get the opportunity to recover from your losses.

Thank you for testing out DNotes Pay, we greatly appreciate it!
Thank you, motienvolam,

I certainly hope that there are lessons learned from this worst correction in our industry’s history. Market value declines of (90% to 95%) are common. Blockchain Hedge Funds may be losing 50% to 75% of their invested capital, with some rumored to be closing shops.

It is not pretty, and the worse is not over. SEC law enforcement on ICO tokens could drag on for a few years. This will put a damper on our industry.

I went forum hopping the last few nights, to get a more personal feel of the state of our industry. Painful – to put it bluntly. Many of the bitcointalk forums I frequented before are almost deserted.  Many seemed to be caught by surprised, but the level of blame game and infighting appeared to have subsided. Obviously, the level of energy has declined noticeably.

Reasonable people should have predicted this. I am sure more than a few of us did. But overall even reasonable people could be wishful at time. If we were one of those to get rich quick, we could always come up with a few reasons to make it justifiable.

In the real world, true value cannot be created out of thin air. Great ideas are not worth much. (I price them at around a dime per dozen). For a pretty good idea – I would pay for your cup of coffee if you would pay for the tips.

Our industry has a serious valuation problem – sometimes it defies logic.  Unproven ideas, with the right promoters have been valued by the $100s of millions, sometime $ billions.

Love and hate are divided by a thin line. It can be taken to the extreme end of the spectrum, in frustration, fear, and confusion. Although we are losing retail investors by the wave, I hope that we will not ended up with more haters. We must stand up to protect the technology which I truly believe presents a generational opportunity for everyone worldwide.

As I have said before “The Culture of our industry Sucks, but the Technology is Awesome.”

Since the day of launch on February 18, 2014 one of our missions was to cultivate a different culture – one of trust and respect. We have done very well in that regards and will continue that tradition for generations to come. We are most grateful to all of you for your support and inspiration to make this possible.

Possible lessons learned:

Ideas by themselves are not worth much. Don’t just follow and be sold on hype and pipe-dreams. Do your home and focus on facts that a verifiable.

Investors do not like uncertainties. It leads to desertion and extremely caution.

We live in a world governed by the rule of law. And that will not go away.

Trust is invaluable in financial services. If we were to disrupt banks and financial services, we must be more trustworthy than them. So far, our industry has done worse, not better.

We believe that the technology is awesome. The industry may be taking a pause, but at DNotes, we are going full speed ahead – taking a very different route since day one.

In stead of showing off “great ideas” we have been building great projects CryproMoms (evolving to become “HERO”) DNotesVault, CRISP Reward, DCEBrief, and my book “Improve your Odds – The Four Pillars of Business Success, and more.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to You ALL!
