I find it a little disappointing that dcgirl has only negative things to say about UTC in the Cryptsy chat box these days, but I have to say, after the beating she took from some folks here, I can hardly blame her. It would be hard to walk away from that drubbing and feel anything but contempt.

Perhaps there's a lesson there because she would have been a great ally for UTC in the long run.

If UTC's POS payout has changed from the 20% per year, someone should update that on the main page. It might be a good place to explain the stake minting checkbox on the UTC wallet as well.

Go Team UTC!

I'm done trying to help you guys with suggestions as everything you don't like is FUD this, Troll that.  There are much worse things that I could have brought up that I tended to keep in PM's instead of publicly posting it here.

I mentioned what I did as a gentle reminder that multipools aren't necessarily a good thing for POW coins, and especially not for coins that have such a small mining base as is.  You think 200 miners is awesome, but most of them don't have much hardware behind them.  When your main pool goes down, you have about 2.4 MH on the network.  That's about two 290x mining farms away from being 51% attacked.  And don't tell me they aren't out there.  There are people out there that do exactly that when they see the opportunity.

You guys are like a cult now.  You don't even realize it.

I think you have a very valid point. Everyone seemed pretty concerned about that back when the mining pools were lopsided. Not being a miner, I don't have much to add to a solution other than to say I hope other members of the UTC Cult of Deliciousness take is seriously. Smiley

So how are you guys getting the word out to the mining community about UTC and CryptoTrain?
cryptotrain good
I like . I like Cryptotrain. As much as high speed utc

Oh me too me too. I think I'm developing a crush already.

Oi, she is mine I was here first  Grin

KC

Wait...what?...Is CryptoTrain female? That might explain the excellent communication skills. Either way I'm still crushing. Tongue

Hell I'm not even a miner and I like this new UTC payout multipool. What I like even more is the fact that the CryptoTrain Dev actually seems motivated to making it work.

We need more of that.

i just released wonderfull news about a powerfull group who will back the coin, and somehow some individuals want to spin it into something negative again...

very interesting  Grin

So we go a pretty solid week of positive energy here, and you make a relatively positive announcement about the future of UTC which includes handing over some of the management tasks and marketing to build more capital AND people still need bitch and moan at you.

It would be pretty funny if all that negativity didn't come at a cost to everyone else invested in UTC. Getting investors with the right resources was/is a smart move. Let's hope they meet your expectations and we see UTC increase in value.

Thumbs up!

This is excellent..and it's well within the scope of the current logo that we could update to this version. I love this.

I'm not a gamer or game developer, but it seems like we, and by "we" I mean the people interested in the long term use and value of UTC, need to come up with a game or game of chance that takes specific advantage of UTC's transaction speed. The transaction speed would need to highly relevant but not critical to the game strategy in case the user has minimal bandwidth speeds.

For example, not a great one either, but if you had a coin with instantaneous transaction speeds and a gambling site to to support it there would be no need to deposit money or coins into an account on the site. You could place your bet in a game from a personal wallet without the risk of some site owner running off with your money or a government agency locking you out.

Anyway...just a thought.

More brainstorming....less bickering. Smiley

cheers!

Bumface,

Marnie is right here. It's not that you have anything to hide but if people come here to check out UTC, they may only see a portion or glimpse of a discussion thread. Depending on what part of the thread they see, they may not return to to see how it was resolved and left with a negative impression.

Better safe than sorry.

Grin I can help with 50k to bump but I don't want to do it alone. I will join when we have a group and do it together.

I'll help as much as I can.

In terms of marketing the coin, It seems like the smartest thing to do right now if focus on the ASICS resistance attribute of the UTC and how it relates to the pending SCRYPT-ASIC apocalypse. Is UTC being positioned to attract GPU miners that are going to get pushed out of mining LTC and company?
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: June 02, 2014, 06:23:56 PM

I remember back in the day...*insert eye-roll* when Feathercoin blew up over the addition of check-pointing -among other things. They did a relaunch and managed to claw their way back into existence. The relaunch might have been over something earlier though, I'm too busy to go back and reread the thread history. Anyway...just thought that might be something to consider although I have no idea how that might be done.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: June 02, 2014, 03:56:01 PM
reading the altcoin news at the 'Altcoin Herald' and read a few interesting articles'

We all need to stick together and work twice as hard! ULTRASMART our Community Leader what would you like us all to do next please :-)

I completely agree!

As a long time UTC supporter it would be nice to see.... No...it's IMPERATIVE for the long-term survival of the coin, that whatever leadership bubbles to the top here brings this community together. Reading this thread is just painful, not because of the coin price, but because of the childish name-calling, finger-pointing and in-fighting over the current price and the IPO, in addition to the complete disrespect that a few people heaped on the most valuable asset UTC had, dcgirl. The UTC community should be doing whatever needs to be done to get her back  in addition to new Devs capable and willing to moving the coin forward and get it back on the road to success..whatever that means in the alt-coin sphere these days.

I ran thru the top coin pairs on Cryptsy to see which ones might have unlisted charts on Bitwisdon and found the ones below currently active. There's probably more, but the only one I really wanted to find was UTC/BTC which isn't active....Yet.

So Bumface... Who do we need to bribe to get Bitwisdom to add UTC, even if it's unlisted?

Am I the only one who found this version of the UTC wallet flagged by Malwarebytes with trojan.installMonitizer?

I downloaded the one from xwebnetwork and it was clean.

Direct download mirror: http://xwebhosting.org/utc/Ultracoin-release-1.0.2-qt.rar

I know these can wallets can give false virus warnings, but they usually aren't specific.

58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: April 21, 2014, 06:51:35 PM

I want to make it perfectly clear that Ultracoin is changing into a new better version of itsself.Weak players have been replaced by strong and capable individuals such as Dcgirl, xwebnetwork and Jakoblight.Mistakes were made but Lessons were learned. If i could go back in time i would do certain things differently, but im not a coingenerator making useless coins,so i made some mistakes. This is how we learn.

I made UTC and i am sticking with it for the rest of my life.I have been very fortunate to have people on board now who share this vision.Together we will emerge victorious in the altcoin market by continuously https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=413978.msg6326450#msg632645 re-inventing ourselves. This active Team can always use more people so if you feel you have something to add, or a specific task you want to do or are good at, let us know at ultracoin@outlook.com.

Team UTC is working very hard every day, to bring new innovations, Dcgirl is finalising the arbitragetool that will expose many opportunitys for profit, we are developing in game payment plugins starting with Minecraft (30 million people community and 500.000 servers).

WhOOP WhOOP!...Go Team UTC!

So if you go use egifter to buy a gift card for say...a pizza, you can now pay with LTC or Doge in addition to BTC. The problem is when you pay with LTC or Doge you have to wait for for coin confirmations before you can get the card. Needless-to-say it can take 10 to 30 minutes for a confirmation before the purchase goes thru and you get the gift card.

This isn't a big deal if you aren't in a hurry, but we're talking about dinner here and you want your pizza yesterday. Adding another 30 minutes to the order-and-eat time is appetite peril and barrier to buying giftcards for food, or anything for that matter.

So...Hey GoCoin...pssstttt...YOO HOO...OVER HERE....UTC....30 second transaction confirmations. You can do better than making us wait even longer for something to eat.

.

This is definitely something UTC should try to achieve. The main issue is the egifter processes payments through a third party (either coinbase or gocoin, depending on the currency). So we need to keep pushing to get a payment processor to sign us up - moolah.io or gocoin.com. Please email them, tweet them and do anything you can to help!

Can someone intelligently explain this to me?

UTC has 30 seconds confirmations right? 30 seconds for 1 confirmation. 1 confirmation is not enough to ensure that the transaction is secure on the blockchain, right?

Even if it were 30 seconds, and UTC is basically fully confirmed... 30 seconds to wait for your payment for a pizza? In what world is that going to fly?

Am I the only one who feels like this thread is a time-machine for 1-2 years ago when so many people were on this forum trying to figure out how crypto works? I feel it should be easy to see lessons learned from the hundreds of crypto coins out there created before UTC. I mean you do realize there are other coins faster than 30 second confirmations, right? I feel I must be missing something...

OK, to clarify...the purchase was for a giftcard, not a pizza. It just so happened that the giftcard was for a pizza Chain. I'm sure everyone can get from point A (buy giftcard) to point B (use giftcard) there.

It really doesn't matter if it's 30 seconds or 6 seconds or 1 confirmation or 10, it's relative to what is currently available...i.e.the competition. It's relative to who has the initiative to push UTC onto an available payment platform SO PEOPLE WILL USE IT. If Gocoin allowed me to pay for the giftcard with UTC my entire transaction for buying the giftcard would have been less than one minute instead of 10 which is a pretty healthy reduction of total transaction time.

I'm sure most of us understand how crypto and the underlying technology works, but at some point we need get outside the technology and apply basic business and marketing principles to make opportunities happen. Doge has been successful at this by using their foundation to represent the coin and its interest. Their foundation has become a genuine non-profit business entity which gives Doge a public face and point of contact for business interest. I'm not suggesting this is mandatory for UTC's long-term growth, its just one of many options various coins have pursued.

By all means though, if you feel like UTC is operating in a time machine 1-2 years ago then tell us how we can move the coin forward through market adoption, word-of-mouth or magic beans for all I care -just be constructive. Tell us how we can benefit from the lessons learned via other cryptos. Seriously...I want to know because I want UTC to be successful and I'm sure we are all open so good ideas to move it forward.
