Just wanted to say I sent some money to intersango--into their new Metro Bank account--on thursday, and it showed up at intersango just fine an saturday. That's a little longer than it took with transfers using the old Lloyds account, but maybe this little delay was just an instance of teething troubles...? Anyhow one trade later, and I'm a btc or two to the good now, so thanks intersango peeps!

I'm running python 2.7.1+ and jackjack-jj-pywallet-db5f0e9, on ubuntu 11.04 64 bit. I do...
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:twisted-dev/ppa $ sudo aptitude install build-essential python-dev python-twisted python-bsddb3
... and so far, so good. But then...
$ sudo easy_install ecdsa Processing ecdsa error: Not a recognized archive type: ecdsa
I had a hunt around in synaptic, and the links in jackjack's first post in this thread, but no joy. Arghh, I have had this working before in debian squeeze! Anybody got any ideas how to fix this up for ubuntu 11.04?
edit: Just for the record,
# aptitude install build-essential python-dev python-twisted python-bsddb3 python-setuptools # easy_install ecdsa
... does the job in debian squeeze (32 bit). I just tried it.

seems there is a problem here too. I've been stuck on a confirmed reward of 0.96934018 BTC since this morning--it's now 6PM here. I'm watching confirmations roll past 120, one after the other. My GPU is whirring away, and my stats page at bitcoin.cz is showing my shares, but there's no change to the reward. I gotta go now, unfortunately :-O
Update: All good now. Thanks Slush :-)

I just wanted to drop in to say that following a short, apparently HSBC induced black-out, intersango got me all my money back a few days ago, as I always expected they would. And I am now some number of bitcoin to the good :-)
Thanks guys :-)

: "Transfers made to our HSBC account on or after the 19th which have not been linked to your account will be delayed. HSBC has unexpectedly closed our account. They did so without any warning. We are working on alternative banking options, but of course are having trouble quickly opening a new account. Transfer made into the account after our records stop but before the account was actually closed will be delayed until we can obtain the records. "
Wow, that sounds bad. What's the latest? Obviously, I transferred a hundred pounds over on that day, and it isn't showing up at the intersango accounts page. :-O
This must all be very frustrating for you guys.

Used to work, but no longer. Bitcoind is running fine.

Donald_Norman,
That looks better to me. I would go along with the Terms and Conditions if Term 12 was amended as you have suggested there.

Donald_Norman,
Sorry for the lateness of this reply.
As far as I can remember, there was no Terms and Conditions list to tick while setting up an account at bitmarket.eu. I just set the account straight up some number of months ago, and started trading. I have made loads of trades there and not had a problem with them yet.
In fact, based on my experience, I would say both bitmarket.eu and the old britcoin.co.uk are/were offering good services, regardless of the fact that--as the poster above has pointed out--their respective methods of moving btc and stirling around were/are different.
BTW, it occurs to me that maybe the *indemnify and defend* stuff was part of the Terms and Conditions list that had to be ticked in order to enable participation on the old britcoin website. If so, all I can say is I am a bit more careful/paranoid now than I was a few months ago! Back then, I might have not bothered reading the lawyer pages. Things are different now though.
Again, Thanks for all your efforts Donald_Norman :-)

: "Give me a couple days."
Take your time, I'm in no rush whatsoever. BitMarket.eu is just fine for me in the meantime. Take it easy :-)

Edited because my writing sucks: I reckon it's nice for the Occupy* movement if there are firm commitments for small but regular donations. Occupy Together have forsworn donation taking, and are (for now) asking willing supporters to send donations to the Occupy Wall Street bitcoin addy: http://www.occupytogether.org/2011/09/23/aboutusOccupy Wall Street have of course expressly asked for bitcoin donations: http://nycga.cc/donateAccordingly, I will send 500 mille to Occupy Wall Street every day whilever the protest is running. My first donation is here: https://blockexplorer.com/tx/86acccec70d61b729d3e5738b55af6d8a4e9c64eebc6c108fbcaddf8a1a04caaOn its own, it ain't much. But if others would be prepared to do the same, then the total sent to Occupy Wall Street might amount to something substantial. And remember, it isn't the amount, it's the regularity that counts here. And of course, just because you send 500 mille per day, doesn't stop you making bigger donations as and when you feel like it. Anybody with me for just 500 mille per day? The addy to send to is: 1Q7DQVTubbUqr5by2YoZJRKCEzj9D3LQ9w

Term 12 was the only thing that stopped me signing up. Allow me to have another go at that paraphrasing:
'You agree to defend Intersango['s] parent, affiliates and employees from any cost we may incur as a result of (x) as well as but not limited to (y).'
It's really that "as well as but not limited to" that seems a bit dangerous. It looks like a punter at Intersango gets landed with the responsibility to defend anything anyone connected with Intersango does that could land Intersango in the shit. Including the parent company! That seems a bit of a weird catch-all.
Again, Thanks Donald_Norman for bearing with me on this. And max respect for the coders at Intersango. I've never had any problem with them.
|
|
|
It isn't the coders I'm worrying about at all. It's the lawyers. To paraphrase:
'You agree to defend Intersango['s] affiliates from any cost we may incur [blah blah]'
I agree to "defend" some random affiliate? What's that all about? I'm not trying to be awkward here, or stir any ill will. And I definitely would recommend Intersango if user experience and interaction with Intersango coders were the be all and end all. But either I'm paranoid, or stupid, or else that term 12 ought to be reworded. IANAL, otherwise I would make a suggestion as to exactly what that wording should look like.
EDIT: forgot to say Thank You for your earlier reply Donald_Norman :-)
