41  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Mga kapatid: Share ko lang tong research ko (Portfolio Strategy for Beginners) on: May 15, 2019, 01:22:53 AM
FYI, this is not a financial advice. This is solely my opinion. I hope it can give you a good insights.

This strategy requires a little work, 100% simple, safe and effective. Let's assume you have $1000 as a capital.

You invest 50% of your capital in Bitcoin, in this case it's $500. Why Bitcoin? Because Bitcoin can evolve into a credible alternative to gold as a store of value. Bitcoin is also scarce. In order for something to be valuable, let alone be a good form of money, it needs to be scarce. Bitcoin total supply will only be 21 million in total, nothing more. Bitcoin also the Godfather of all crypto, its market capitalization and dominance is number 1. It's been here for 10 years.

You invest 25% of your capital in EOS. Yes, EOS. I am not shilling EOS, FYI. A lot of people doesnt know what power behind EOS, a lot of people think that it is just an ordinary blockchain like others. But what they dont know is that, EOS is the largest blockchain in dapps ecosystem, check dappradar.com for your reference. For me, i think of it as a usecase. Developers are building dapps on top of EOS. This is huge, to be honest. What's the use of blockchain if nobody is using it right? It's number 5 in market capitalization, so it is safe as well, more stable and proven.

You invest 25% of your capital in BNB. Yes, Binance Coin. Because it has strong fundamental developments surrounding Binance. Yeah they got hacked lately but Binance Coin remains strong, price as of writing still at $23.  Why BNB? Because of their strong fundamental developments, they launched Binance Chain, they said it will not compete against Ethereum but who knows right? I believe soon they will launch their smart contracts, which will be direct competitor of Ethereum. Binance chain is more faster than Etherum. I believe Binance Chain will be the next Ethereum so i think BNB will go higher. Plus, they are doing a quarterly coin burn which makes BNB scarce moving forward.

Summary:
$1000 investment
$500 BTC
$250 EOS
$250 BNB

Advantage: You only bet on crypto that has solid fundamental usecase and potential.

Disadvantage: The more stable the market, the lower the profits. However, their potential might be higher. Patience is a virtue. Good things happen to people who wait.

"when you buy a coin that has an enormous supply (~1 billion) you can be sure that in long run the only direction for it is down." So you are just basing on supply then sir? I am pointing their usecase, i prefer usecase than supply. You can rant whatever you want but usecase gives more value than supply. EOS has 1B supply but developers are building dapps on top of EOS compared to other blochchains. Wanna know more? Go to dappradar.com sir
if you don't like to see other people's opinion and call it rant then don't post on a forum. as for the supply it is not supply alone, it is the demand that comes with it. no matter how much "usecase" you think EOS has and how much they build DAPPs they are still one in a dozen that are doing the same thing. not to mention that DAPPs don't really have that much real use cases in real world to begin with.

Quote
"as for your last option, it is terrible because it is centralized and worst of all the centralization is on an exchange and we all know exchanges all have an expiration date." Terrible? Can you explain to me how is BNB performance over the last 2-3 months? Is that because of just pump and dump? Or it is because of fundamental progress?
centralization is bad no matter how well the token performs. it still can fail in an instant if when they go the same route that MtGox, Cryptsy, and dozens of other big number 1 exchanges went before them.

No sir, i like your opinion, that is why i am trying to argue, dont think that i am just arguing out of nothing, i know if we argue on some things, we will learn more on it.

no matter how much "usecase" you think EOS has and how much they build DAPPs they are still one in a dozen that are doing the same thing. not to mention that DAPPs don't really have that much real use cases in real world to begin with. Yeah, dozens are doing the same thing but they are the number 1 on it. DAPPs dont really have much use case in crypto? Seriously sir? Wow, big words for a crypto investor like you sir (i assumed).

How can you say that the DAPPs doesnt have much usecase in crypto? THEY ARE THE FUTURE OF CRYPTO. That is what Blockchain is solving right??? Solving centralization? That is why companies are building blockchain technologies, so that people can build DAPPS for our daily lives. Decentralized banking system, decentralized Uber, decentralized Airbnb and etc., these are potential DAPPS in the future. How can you say DAPPS doesnt have usecase?

a terrible idea specifically due to the last option.

generally speaking investing in things that go down whenever bitcoin price goes up or down is a bad idea and you can never call that a "portfolio" because they are linked all to bitcoin. and when you buy a coin that has an enormous supply (~1 billion) you can be sure that in long run the only direction for it is down.

as for your last option, it is terrible because it is centralized and worst of all the centralization is on an exchange and we all know exchanges all have an expiration date. so when that date comes the price of the coin you were bag holding tanks hard. we have already see the Binance hack and how that affected the market. not to mention the fact that it is a 100% premined coin.

"we have already see the Binance hack and how that affected the market. not to mention the fact that it is a 100% premined coin." Oh yeah, they got hacked and affected the market. Seriously? Have you seen BNB performance after hack? What is the price of BNB now? $23-$24? Hows this for a hack result? LoL, if you are pertaining to overall market result, yeah market blew out, BTC now at almost $8000, total market cap is now $234B

Is that all you can argue sir? come on sir, you can do better than that sir. Have a nice day.

I disagree with no knowledge required, if you are to invest in crypto you should still have knowledge on hoe cryptocurrency works. If you are only going to invest qithout any knowledge about crypto  you will just surely lose your money. Imagine a newbie who doesn't even know how the market works, how to trade, how to secure their money, when to sell and buy again, and a lot more.

Hi Sir, just to clarify, i am not saying no need for knowledge to invest in crypto, what i mean is that, this strategy i laid out, you dont need to worry on knowledge in implementing it. With regards to your point in having knowledge in investing to crypto, i 100% agree on it. You laid it out perfectly sir, thank you for your input.

p.s. I removed the "no knowledge" in my post to make it more clear Smiley

Hey guys, what kind of trading strategy do you use? and Why? What's the effectivity rate?
49  Economy / Trading Discussion / BTCUSD: Sharing my analysis, hope I can help you in your trading on: May 13, 2019, 10:58:45 AM

BTCUSD on the daily chart remains bullish above the March 25 low of $3948. The price also trading the 200 day moving average which helps confirm that we are indeed on a bullish uptrend.

I would prefer to enter long position on a pullback. If we measure using Fibonacci retracement tool from March 25 low up to yesterday's high of $7450, we can get the $5451 to $6224 (38.2% to 61.8% range). I suspect that many will enter new long position at this range aiming for the July 24, 2018 high of $8648.

Hey guys, just want to see your idea here. Guys, what is a good portfolio %?

Are you guys following most people are doing? Like 50-75% BTC and rest altcoins?

Mine is all altcoins and losing quite a bit now Sad

I had the same experience in 2017.
I had good profit from bitcoin and decided to buy some altcoins, hoping to increase my profit.
It was very bad decision.
When the bitcoin started to fall, altcoins lost even more value.
If I left all the funds in bitcoin I would lose much less.
After this experience I invest now only in bitcoin and I sold everything else.
Bitcoin is unstable but other coins are even less predictable

Yes sir, that's exactly what happened, I mainly invested in altcoins, and now i realized that it is the worst decision. You guys really help me realize this now. I am planning to wait until i get breakeven on some altcoins i invested lately and convert it to BTC and hold it long term instead. Thank you so much sir for sharing.

52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think IOTA has the potential to dethrone Bitcoin? And why? on: May 13, 2019, 06:56:44 AM
Well, bitcoin had been trusted for so long since bitcoin ia the first successful crypto to be created. It is to far ahead from IOTA as a currency. However, if we talk about IOTA's technical aspect it really has potential.

I agree sir, potential to grow yes, but to dethrone Bitcoin? This is not happening. I doubt it, that btc will get dethrone. BTC is already matured and has store of value.
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the Next Bitcoin Bull Run Started? on: May 13, 2019, 02:48:50 AM
I think he hast started some months ago, when it was at $3500, after that the price only moves one way, so, we can be sure we are on the run but the question now is how up it will go now? Make your predictions guys.  Wink

I dont think it started months ago, for me I believed it started when the price crossed the 200 day moving average. This is major indicator even for forex and stocks. I think it happend first week of April. Although i still think we need further price corrections to around 5800
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think IOTA has the potential to dethrone Bitcoin? And why? on: May 13, 2019, 02:40:32 AM
There's technically a possibility. But will it? I don't think so. Bitcoin is simply too far ahead in terms of almost everything for an altcoin to surpass it. Heck, I don't even think Ethereum will, even though it has slightly more possibility. But then again, it's still possible for IOTA to do so, and if it does, then it means the cryptocurrency markets just went full retard.

Sir, what do you mean by technical posibility? Because for me they IOTA is universe away to bitcoin.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think IOTA has the potential to dethrone Bitcoin? And why? on: May 13, 2019, 12:57:02 AM
I do not think IOTA has the potential to dethrone Bitcoin. At the moment IOTA does not even have a working product. They can handle 25 TPS (significantly more than Bitcoin) and provide free transactions only because the IOTA Foundation runs a closed source Coordinator node that is completely responsible for determining what transactions get added to the Tangle. This is how they solve the double spend problem and provide security to the network. However, this is no better than if I were to create a cryptocurrency by hosting a MySQL database behind an Nginx server I control. I could make similar claims to the IOTA Foundation in support of this cryptocurrency. I could provide free transactions, I could say I could way out-scale Bitcoin, Ethereum, and any other decentralized cryptocurrency, and I could boast about the much smaller environmental footprint of my centralized setup.

Bitcoin has the obvious first mover advantage and they are completely different in too many ways to list here. A good way to see Bitcoin is like physical gold. Yes, it's money, but are you going to use it to buy a cup of coffee? Difficult to use for small transactions, but a definite store of value. Based on the blockchain protocol so at present, unhackable. IOTA was designed differently, and for a different purpose

Nonetheless, do you think IOTA can dethrone BITCOIN

To tell you honestly, no oway IOTA will dethrone BTC. BTC is the great great grand father of cryptocurrency. It survived 10 years already despite FUDS and government issues. BTC will always be at the top. Nothing can dethrone bitcoin. THis is me okay?  This is my opinion.
56  Economy / Speculation / Re: Little dip in bitcoin market, will it be recovered reach 10k on: May 12, 2019, 10:12:55 PM
I just noticed the price chart and saw that few 100 USDs of value fall down for bitcoin. Will it be recovered in a future day or tomorrow?

Thinking to exchange some coins, I do not want to loose the peak value chance, will it reach 10k Soon.

For me i think the btc price seems a bit high. I would prefer for a short pullback before entering a position. 10k is just around the corner, but patience my friend, lets it simmer for few days.

I am really happy as  well, however, all my assets are in Alts, i bought alts before BTC moved higher. Now all my alts are not moving. Any advice?
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Rising, Scams Rising on: May 11, 2019, 11:26:43 PM
To be honest, scams, thefts and exit scams are common in our crypto community, the only way to reduce  this is to get laws from government which most people dont want, but they still complaining about scams. We need laws to protect us from scammers.
59  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to recover when you are down 90% of your portfolio? on: May 11, 2019, 01:13:34 AM
Personally I would start with converting the shitcoins to Bitcoin, you would need a 10x to break even so about 50k Bitcoin (which will happen if Bitcoin succeeds), I would personally also dollar cost average in to lower your break even point. None of this is financial advice but if you believe in Bitcoin this will help recuperate your losses.

This is simply a nice advise and to say is coming from a newbie is worthy to commend. If I have such advise on a losing portfolio, I think I would like to convert too to bitcoin because bitcoin is the most trusted coin.

How about using the remaining 10% of my funds to another Altcoin which is kinda have potential? What can you recommend on an altcoin which is worth investing the remaining 10%?
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Hack and The Rollback on: May 11, 2019, 01:11:28 AM
I am glad that binance didnt pursue rollback, otherwise it will have a bad remarks in blockchain technology.

But i think, the safe  thing to do now is for people to make sure they store their assets in their own wallet or cold storage.
