However, after reading your reply, I checked that I had the latest version (v0.1.2.2-gd0cbc83) and added the wallet application to my firewall permissions.

Then downloaded/added the config file to the appdata/sprouts folder and still nothing. Also note that there was not an already existing sprouts.conf in that folder or anywhere else on my computer before downloading from your link, so I was not "replacing" the file, only adding it for the first time... What could that mean??

Then I made those 3-line adjustments to the config file.. played around a bit and I just cannot get any connection.

I'm currently looking on Google to find out how to determine which ports I have available to modify these details and I'm confused as to what IP address I should add here..

Hi oogone, there is also at least one other coin done this as well (lower staking reward) and things don't seem to be working too well for them either at least not in the short term.

I am not trying to shoot anything down just looking for other possible options other than handing over 40% to an unknown (to put it politely) or going down a road that does not resolve the dilemma (lower staking reward).

Yeah, I'm having the same trouble, I downloaded and opened the wallet, copied the address and sent thousands of SPRTS to it and then realized it had no connection/peers duh!

The transaction has been confirmed as verified on Sprouts Blockchain Explorer - CryptoID.

I've tried a few things and still nothing. I cannot find the config file or anything as I've read you can ad IP addresses to the list or something.

Anyway, thanks oogone for that detailed guide Any further insight anyone can share, that would be great!

I got the new wallet (Windows 10 x64) but I think it is somehow not working,
once there are no connections and I still didn't receive the 100 SPRST that I sent yesterday.

The first thing you need to do is to make a backup of your wallet.dat file, before you do anything else.

To do this:

Navigate to c:/Users/user/AppData/Roaming/Sprouts.

In that folder, locate the file called "wallet.dat", and make a copy in any secure folder on your pc. This will be your backup. (guard it well.)

Next:

Check the version of the wallet you installed by clicking on the "Help" button, and then on "About Sprouts". The correct version should be v0.1.2.2-gd0cbc83
If that is correct, go to next.

Next:
See if there is a file called sprouts.conf in the same folder as mentioned above, and it should contain nodes to the network.

If not you have to create one with any text editor like Notepad.

Just copy all the nodes from https://chainz.cryptoid.info/sprts/#!network - /Satoshi:0.6.3/Sprouts:0.4.2.2/Sprouts:0.1.2.2(v0.1.2.2-gd0cbc83)/ - Nodelist,

And save the file in the above mentioned folder as sprouts.conf. Be sure  about the naming of this file, don't forget the "s" at the end of sprouts, don't capitilize, and don't save it as sprouts.conf.txt.

Next:

Restart your wallet, leave it for a while, and see if you get connections.

Keeping sprouts minable and as an asset but the pos produces a new sellable coin.

Anything supporting the environment and the companies concerned with it is something I want to see thrive! I'm wondering if there is anywhere I can read more about partnerships involving this currency or perhaps a platform that interested parties will use? I understand that in crypto things have to move step by step but I'm just having a hard time learning more about this coin. In particular I want to know what makes it more viable than other coins that can be used to create apps or sidechains and thus could feasibly be used for many purposes, including green energy assets and even use IoT tech or financial tech to make their platform very effective.

I guess I'm having a hard time understanding the real "killer app" and roadmap for this coin. Im looking for the functional use of it. Best of luck to you!
