41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important is it to keep your bitcoin investments secret from others ? on: May 11, 2023, 04:08:23 PM
Bitcoin or not, isn't there an expected level of secrecy and privacy in all your financial matters? Even if it's your closest family and friends, there are some things that must only be between you and your bank or lawyer. Whatever is the advantage of announcing all to sundry your Bitcoin investments? There may be exceptions but there should always be discretion... and humility.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Bitcoin will become stable currency? on: May 11, 2023, 04:00:05 PM
I was thinking about Bitcoin as a currency a lot lately and I have some doubts about how currently we see its future.

The problem is, in order for Bitcoin to become a currency everyone will use, it should be stable. I know that you might say that people will still use it because it's not about stability, it's about freedom and technology. I agree with that, but Bitcoin needs to be stable in order for people to treat it like money, and not like an asset.

Just look at what people are saying right now, experts say that people shouldn't hold USD because inflation is just 5% a year, but imagine if you have bitcoin that can go down like 5% a day because some whales sold it. It will be problematic for people to use it on a daily basis because of that.

I know that people say that when Bitcoin will be adopted, it should become stable because there is a limited amount of it, but I don't see how it's gonna happen. From what I see people treat bitcoin as an asset to invest and hold and I can't imagine that will change in the future.

Why do you guys think Bitcoin will really become the "money of the future" and people will actually use it like one?
From what I see, I think it's possible that people in the future will still trade bitcoin or try to buy as much of it as possible to manipulate the market.

At this point, its volatility is what makes bitcoin BTCitcoin lol

But seriously speaking, if Bitcoin is stable then there may not be a need for it. If it was stable, then might as well use fiat. Though to be fair, Bitcoin was currency first before it was an asset, an investment, something to profit from.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thesis: Blockchain: decentralization of money, power and the state on: May 11, 2023, 03:51:25 PM
Wow, this is really impressive and must have taken up so much time and research on your part. I have downloaded and started reading it and found your introduction really interesting. Now that I think about it, the blockchain is the natural evolution of all the technological evolutions the world has gone through. If I am understanding it right, the blockchain presents a new way of looking at history and how it will be perceived and understood in the future.

I will try to finish this and give my thoughts.
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Liechtenstein is considering to accept bitcoin for government payments on: May 11, 2023, 03:38:37 PM
There are many rumors of countries and territories allegedly legalizing Bitcoin that is good to hear a government actually integrating it for the use of their population. Of course, there are still concerns about the high fees and congestion but the bigger news that will impact people is that the government and its officials are accepting cryptocurrency, practically legalizing its usage. This has the possibility of creating a rippling effect of other governments doing the same if they see that it has no negative outcomes for Liechtenstein.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Awareness: Bitcoin logos on T-Shirts on: May 11, 2023, 03:29:10 PM
One of the influencer in my country has started the business of selling the shirts with bitcoin logo on it. This will not only help him get some business but at the same time, it is a step towards the crypto awareness.

Kudos to him for taking steps in promoting Bitcoin despite the severe limitations of Bitcoin in your country. Maybe, add information packets in every purchase or link this forum to his shop for more awareness of Bitcoin to his customers. Though, he has to be very careful as to not be targeted, harassed, or worse for doing something like this. Hoping for continued success with your friend.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid a scam project? on: May 07, 2023, 06:17:38 PM
There are so many ways and tools to avoid a scam project. For example, if you would like to invest in a memecoin or shitcoin, you can use this tool, https://tokensniffer.com/ to scan and monitor the contract address. Always check if the project has the following, Roadmap, Whitepapter, Team Members if they're doxxed, and Social Media accounts. Just do your own research and use your common sense when dealing with this kind of situation.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still hunt for airdrops? on: May 07, 2023, 02:02:40 PM
I do love to hunt airdrops, but not knowingly. It's evolved compared to the past, where what you need is to sign up, paste your wallet address, and invite users to register under your link to accumulate some tokens. Right now, you're like a beta that needs to contribute to their platform by testing and bridging. I would also like to participate in the recent airdrops, but I need to do some research or watch some videos on YouTube to understand the projects.

9 Pandas' trip to the Berlin Major ends with their defeat against Team Liquid in the Lower Bracket Final! If the 9 Pandas banned Alchemist in Game 3, they might have a chance to upset Team Liquid.

It's already set Gaimin Gladiators vs Team Liquid for The Berlin Major Grand Finals! Will Team Liquid avenge their Lima Major loss, or will Gaimin Gladiators win back-to-back titles?
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Favourite MEME COINS? on: May 07, 2023, 01:18:53 PM
My only favorite meme coin is Dogecoin because it's backed by the influence and connection of Elon Musk and ranks in the top 8 on CoinMarketCap: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dogecoin/
And recently, shitcoins and memecoins have been booming out of nowhere using popular cartoon characters like OGGY the Cockroaches, Bart the Simpsons, Perry the Platypus, and many more. Do the developers know that there is a higher chance that they will be sued by a copyright claim by the original creator of it.

Congratulations to Aljamain Sterling on defending his Bantamweight title against Henry Cejudo, that was a pure class performance by him. And it's time for the upcoming title match between Aljamain Sterling vs Sean O'Malley. This would be a banger, but we need to wait until September. And also congratulations to Belal Muhammad for securing his Welterweight title shot.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin doesn't give you instant 100 percent profits on: May 06, 2023, 02:13:00 PM
Bitcoin is becoming more mainstream due to the pervasive nature of social media, and with social media comes the modern snake oil salesman offering an instant cure. That may be the case for new people here, or new people in Bitcoin - their first impression of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency is through social media and crypto influencers, and got the wrong impression that is the road to riches.

If you are only starting to learn about Bitcoin today and trying to search the experiences of other people, there's a great chance that you will be bombarded with influencers promising instant wealth, or YouTubers or streamers exposing crypto scammers - you may surmise that crypto may be a scam but at least it's instant money. That could be the cause of some of the people here wanting instant gratification, not knowing that many members have been on the grind for many years.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Take good care of yourselves on: May 06, 2023, 02:03:30 PM
You make good points, one cannot really enjoy the fruits of their labor when they are dead. I have seen people urging others just hold, to never sell, just accumulate, and work harder to buy more but don't spend it - and for what?

Money is meant to be spent - be it needs or leisure. Spend it, use it, save some of it, and utilize it to better your life and the lives of those you care about. Buy things that you need but also things that give you pleasure - be it food, clothes, tech, or travel (of course, in moderation). You are more than your job so work to live, not live to work.

We do not hold the future, we do not know what awaits us there but what we have is the present to hold onto and to care for, might as well enjoy living in it.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How useful is Bitcoin to the youth? on: May 06, 2023, 12:09:58 PM
It would certainly be useful since it can be the purchasing power of the future. And yes, I do agree that the benefits and the advantages - one, being convenience, should be highlighted to encourage more people to use it. The youth is the key to broadening the use of cryptocurrency, it not only being mainstream but also as a greater alternative to fiat for the masses. For that to happen, accurate information and how to use crypto must be taught to them, since many of them does not how it works and they may be receiving information from crypto influencers who are only on it for a quick rugpull.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Opportunities as a gateway to Community service on: May 06, 2023, 11:59:13 AM
You're a good person, OP. You went above and beyond with your actions in helping the indigenous community in your province, a sector of the population that is mostly ignored by the government, and if not ignored - antagonized. You sought to help the marginalized with a year of your hard-earned money, a great sacrifice since it seems like the price of everything went up. I hope your actions inspired the local government of that indigenous community to actually help them. You have certainly inspired me and many people from this thread.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had a time traveling machine, then? on: May 06, 2023, 11:49:24 AM
If you could travel back in time today, what would you do?

Well, if I could travel back in time I will obviously buy a lot of Bitcoin, hold on to it, then sell when it peaked in the present, profit, etc.. But that did not happen, so now what? So many what-ifs, and so many uncertainties as you have said yourself but what happened already happened. We can speculate about the past as much as we want but we cannot live in the past, just learn from the regrets and lessons it holds. Besides, even if one can go back to the past, will they remember the future they come from? Will they retain the knowledge they have now? What if one single action causes a domino of a different future, like a butterfly effect? So many possibilities, but no assurances.

In the far future, this question will be asked again and the many answers will be the same, many repeating sentiments of "what-ifs" and "if only's" but the past will remain unchanged and you can only go forward.
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE VIEW OF SOME PEOPLE OVER BITCOIN on: May 05, 2023, 03:41:25 PM
Some people don't see Bitcoin as a normal currency and think it's too risky because its value can change a lot. They also worry that it's used by criminals for illegal activities like money laundering. However, other people think Bitcoin is amazing because it's different from traditional currencies and could change how we use money. Nobody knows for sure what will happen to Bitcoin in the future, but people are still talking about it and interested in it.

To add to that, many people are still 'traditionalists' concerning money. People are more secure if they can see and touch money, to actually hold a physical manifestation of it. People want consistency and fiat represents that for them, even if the only consistent truth in the world is inconsistency (and that holds much truth when it comes to money.) That line of thinking also makes people fear the 'new,' cryptocurrency represents that fear for them. Even though Bitcoin exists for more than a decade now, many people are still finding out about it now so it seems new to them and therefore cannot still be relied upon. There are also people who knew about cryptocurrency because scammers have been exposed and went viral or were on the news, so not really a great first impression.
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does the world still see Bitcoin as a scam, or is it just a lack of interest? on: May 05, 2023, 03:31:57 PM
Does the world still see Bitcoin as a scam, or is it just a lack of interest?

To offer some perspective, the 'world' does not see Bitcoin as a scam now nor were they uninterested but because many people do not know of its existence. If you are someone who uses or was raised with the Internet it seems impossible that there are still people who are unaware of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency so maybe you feel safe to assume that people who do not use or buy crypto think it's a scam or is not interested. Many people in my country are only coming around now about the concept of digital wallets, so even if Bitcoin is around for over a decade, it will take longer than that to fully make people aware of its existence and much longer to educate them about its advantages and how to not fall for scams and frauds.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - what is your plan when we reach $100k? on: May 05, 2023, 03:10:43 PM
Realistically speaking, sell it when Bitcoin reaches $100k, maybe not all but might as well profit from it while I still can. Time, effort, and money have been poured onto Bitcoin, I was there when it was below $100, and I'm still here when it is so much more than when it started - I have been waiting and holding patiently for years. So, if ever it does reach $100k, a life-changing and life-altering amount of money, I will sell what I can and hold what is left because ultimately that is what Bitcoin is - money. And what is money but a thing to be used and spent, to purchase things that will help and improve your life, and even the lives of others?
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The purchase Bitcoin during its early stages. on: May 05, 2023, 02:42:41 PM
Trust it. You've said it yourself that was a lack of guarantee in Bitcoin in its early stages so you have no choice but to trust it if you purchase it. You may have been curious about it the first time, or heard about it through the grapevine and decided to check it out and purchase a small amount and hope it will appreciate in value - that is trust because you hope it will do what it promises. Or, maybe you went all in and bought a bunch - that is trust because, with your money, you put confidence in Bitcoin that it will someday be fruitful.

And even if you decide to buy now - that is still trust because you rely on it that even if it crashed, it will always blow up back again.
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fall of crypto influencers. on: May 05, 2023, 02:31:12 PM
Conmen exist as long as there are people who can be conned. They just changed how they call themselves and right now they call themselves "influencers" and time will come when they will fall but they will just call themselves something else. The good thing is there are always people who expose these conmen, scammers, and/or influencers which is evidenced by the numerous exposés by civilians on courts of public opinion like Youtube, or people who were scammed and went to judicial courts to get justice.

And it's not really conducive in Bitcoin discussions to call people who went looking for advice in good faith about crypto "stupid." They already paid for their naivety by being led to fraudulent information about crypto, hopefully, they get smart about the next time.
