I don't think so, quad core CPU for mining is useless because you won't be needing that much core power, in fact a dual core processor is more than enough for mining unless you want to do CPU mining which requires higher end CPUs, for GPU mining the vram and processing power of the GPU is all you need

1. Update the BIOS first
2. Don't bother using SLI cos it won't work for mining, it will interfere with each other if two GPUs are inserted in the available pcie x16 slots, use riser for one instead
3. This motherboard has other slots available two to three x1 pci slot available so connect one GPU on the x1 slot and another in the pcie x16 slot

The best motherboard I've used so far is a Brandless mobo from China with 8 pcie slots onboard, the last time I bought a B250 motherboard It has an issue and I returned it back to China, wasted my time and I was angry got my refund days later, use whatever works for you that's all I will say, some are even using old skool mobo with ddr2-ddr3 rams and they have no issue

I would always go for the newer GPU architecture when possible,same hash rate but better efficiency from the GTX 1660 Super.There is not much to think about,6 GB is still good for some time to come as been said until 2024 and even if ETH mining goes away (which I highly doubt it) the 1660 S can perform better in RVN mining and with less power consumption,so this is better compared with the RX 580,that 580 has an old 2016 or 2017 architecture don't remember now.
It doesn't matter anymore since ETH pow mining won't even last long till DAG file reach 6GB so yes 1660s with 6gb vram are good buy for many other altcoins than AMD cards, I believe that Nvidia cards supports more algorithm than AMD, the only AMD that's better is HBM2 memory AMD cards like Vega 56 |
