Finally the match between RCB and KKR is postponed because the players from the KKR camp test positive but i am not sure how that happened as i thought they were in a bubble throughout the tournament and it is interesting to see how the BCCI will deal with the issue if more players starts to test positive and how many matches they will be extending or will they be forced to stop the tournament and continue at a later time.
The foreign players will be affected badly as the flights are suspended and some countries has banned even citizens from India and if the BCCI plans to pause the tournament they will be stuck in India until everything is sorted. I was expecting something like this. They can't just lockup 2,000 people and then do 24x7 surveillance. At least one or two individuals will get tired of the isolation inside the bubble and go out for some adventure. The same thing happened with the PSL as well. And members from multiple franchises have now tested positive for CoVID 19 (CSK and KKR), which means that the infection is spreading inside the bubble. I don't think that the BCCI now has any option other than to postpone the tournament. As of now the today's match has got postponed. Maybe the next step will be the postpone of the league. Already few players have left the league for health reasons. Ashwin is one among them, and in a tweet Ashwin's wife had mentioned of her family members ten of the tested positive for covid-19. The spread isn't under control, through any means this can happen and has happened. I don't think BCCI will postpone whole league. BCCI was already thinking about continuing IPL in UAE if Covid situation get worse in India. Now situation is getting worse and it might take quite time to recover from it. So I am thinking they are going to move on UAE venue for both T20 world cup and remaining IPL. Also their is no sign of relief from covid. |

There are rumors that the T20 World Cup will be shifted to Dubai, if the COVID 19 situation doesn't improve in India. I believe that this is a good move. I would even say that the ongoing IPL should have shifted to the UAE, as many of the players were forced to leave the tournament in between due to issues with bio-bubble. I also think other countries Cricket Board will be quite unhappy if T20 World Cup going to happen in India. |
