Just paid out today's PoA!
Activity is picking up a little.. 37 total users so far. For a total of 191 actions.
probably had 100+ entries so far, and I weed out all I can but I could use a second set of eyes/ someone with more experience in doing it. I'd like to know what techniques you use.

Anyone good at weeding out duplicate addresses?

I'm not sure what it is you are doing, but would this be useful to you?

I've been a die hard supporter since the inception of NOBL. NOBL has been my coin of choice for mining, that's it, since January. I mine with Poolerino and Lifeforce and had great success with them both. I'm investing in the developers and the community. That's a big deal to me. It builds confidence. I don't mine to dump, I mine to use. While the the price has dropped, I have wondered about my investment, but this community and the regular updates and transparency from developers like Rofo make me feel much better about where I stand. Keep up the good work guys and I appreciate your efforts to stand apart from every other alt coin.
+1 Gizmo. I can vouch for you as I have been mining from the beginning also without dumping any (I still mine 24/7). It's interesting how similar our attitude/thoughts are towards Noble and Jason. I think the Noble community as a whole have similar views and that is one of our best assets.

Although it's uncomfortable watching the value of your investment diminishing 1 satoshi every few days, if we forget about the price for a short time and think about what Rofo (and the Noble community) are accomplishing it makes it all seem worth it again. IMO even IF we were to fail, it was still worth it because we did it the NOBLE way without cheating, stealing, scamming or screwing anyone over!

P&Ders will always get the recognition they don't deserve (thanks to human nature) in the short term, but if we outlast them then we have a great chance of long term success by slowly filtering to the top.

I think it's worth mentioning that I also support Dnotes. For those that don't know, they have a close community also and the developers work like Rofo.
They did a halving of mining supply a few months ago and the price went up from 250sat to over 1000. Is a halving something Noble should look at doing as a intermediate progression before POS?

Iam waiting for Confirmations since hours now?
Whats wrong with the network?

The network is fine, last block was found 2 minutes ago
http://chainz.cryptoid.info/nobl/

Is it a deposit to an exchange?

I'm not sure everything is fine. Network hashrate skyrocketed to over 3Ghash. Difficulty shot up to 42. That's not normal. The massive influx of mining power could have a negative affect on the blockchain.

EDIT: Transactions are confirming as normal and right now the blockchain is all good. Crazy things happening with Noble price and mining though.

hi, i just made a purchase on http://www.noblemovement.com/marketplace

i have not heard anything back- is it a legit website? do i have anything to worry about? i emailed but no response... its been a few hours now? have i been ripped off

Nothing to worry about. Noble marketplace is headed by the Noble dev (Rofo) and is 100% legit. They are busy, just be patient and you will hear back from them. Plus it's the week end! They need time off just like the rest of us Smiley

^^^ Save your money and buy 10K worth of noblecoins. Then in a couple years you might be able to retire.

Yes, you are probably correct.

But, you guys that are responding to my posts saying my investment in asic miners was a waste of money are just proving my point. You are not willing to do anything that will help the future of the coin unless it will get you BTC ASAP.
That isn't how investments work. You get out what you put in, and right now Noble needs well distributed powerful miners backed by dedicated individuals that do not dump to market.
I made a concious decision to step up and do my part to help Noble get through this tough time with the hope that it'll have been worth it in years to come.
Sure I could have bought a $hit load of Nobl for the cost of the miner, but that would benefit no one but myself. That's not going to help the network, and probably cause more people to dump if someone is buying.

Rofo has stuck in there through a lot of crap and if the community isn't willing to put their necks on the line for no short term reward, we'll be going nowhere fast.

Quote
GPU miners are generally un-professional.

Explain this please. Does it mean you are a "Professional" since you bought into asics?

After reading my post all you take from it is that I claim GPU miners are unprofessional?
I never said I was professional. But, anyone that is willing to put their money into expensive hardware that does nothing but mine scrypt coins will be making that decision with a more professional mindset than the average fickle GPU miner.
Some GPU miners are just as dedicated and 'professional' as the best of us, but most dump a coin as soon as it's not popular and/or profitable before moving onto the next fad.

Miners buy asic hardware that is 'locked' to a select few coins.
Take LTC for example. The price is dropping fast, but the hashrate and difficulty is rocketing up as more asics hit the network. These miners choose LTC and will probably have their hardware working on LTC until it can no longer compete with new miners or cover it's electricity bill.

The point I am trying to make is that GPU mining is great to get a fledgling currency off the ground easily (and test new concepts), but once it is up and running (like Noble is now) it's past the 'startup' stage.
Stage 2 requires a more professional and efficient approach.

Many people have said we need to change algo to avoid asics, but have not offered any insight as to how they would contribute to the future of Noble.

Personally I'm hoping Noble stays how it is and we find ways to secure the network without forking.

I recently invested in 100 Mhash of asic mining hardware to do my part. I have been bouncing around the various mining pools for the last week to keep the balance in the network, and so far I have had a positive effect.
I never sell my Noble, so it annoys me when people paint all asic miners with the same brush. Not all of us dump as soon as the coins are mined. I put a lot of money into my asic hardware, and if Noble is forked to make it temporarily asic resistant I'll be slightly pissed off.
If I have no choice, I might turn my power wasting, heat producing inefficient 280X rig back on. But then again, I might not. Despite how much I believe in the Noble Movement...

GPU miners are generally un-professional. If Noble is not treated as a business and expanded to become immune to pathetic attacks on the network, it is at risk of being left behind and forgotten.
If every one of this Noble community vowed to contribute 10 mega hash to secure the network, we would truly OWN Noble, and we would take some serious steps towards becoming one of the most reputable currencies in the crypto world.

Hopefully then growth and adoption would be exponential.

Something bad is happening?

Both Poolerino and Charity mining pools are completely down. 44% of the network hashrate is "BlackCoin" Pool, and 46% is "unknown". Difficulty dropped to 3 and is now 4.5 and network hashrate is at the lowest in about 1 month.

Are we under yet another attack? This time with even more brute force?

I'm not spreading FUD. But the way I see it, the current mining situation doesn't look good unless Rofo has something in action that I am not aware of.

49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: June 05, 2014, 06:41:15 AM
I'm frustrated again today in mining our coin (NOBL). The last time that my pool (CoinMine) found a block was more than 5 hrs ago...

Experts, can you shed light on this? I'm a newbie in this passion of ours... every explanation is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

aha, the explanation above makes sense... thanks...

The high difficulty (20-30) will take a large chunk out of your mining profitability and because the total hash power is so unbalanced, it will make it much harder for small pools to find blocks and then get payouts.
Just hang in there and keep mining. More than likely the crazy high hash rate will drop back down if the past few weeks is anything to go by...
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: June 05, 2014, 06:04:22 AM
So what has happened? ASICs have flooded our network? This would not be a 51% attack since it is on our blockchain correct? So that means that price should be following suit no?
I'm thinking the same. Last time during 51 attacks there wasn't any spikes in diff in our blockchain.
Somebody suddenly wants 100% of the mined coins or is just playing with our 1-block retarget?

Other ideas?

I'll remind you all of this comment.
I am mining Noble with 14Mhash (I know it's not enough), but have more asic hardware arriving early next month. I won't say exactly how much hash power I will have, but lets just say it should enough to slam the 51% attackers as long as my fellow miners keep their rigs mining too.

I never sell Noble and will do everything I can to support the network, just like I have since day 1.

IMO the fact that someone wants us dead, shows that some see us a genuine threat. If we are a threat but don't fold under the pressure, that puts us one step closer to guaranteed success!

Dig deep guys (pun intended). Rofo, has gone above and beyond to make things happen. Give what you can in return and mine the hell out of Noble!
If this is you, I'm jealous of your hash power Backlash! Wink

Unfortunately the 1500 odd mega hash that is currently unaccounted for is not me Sad When I said I was going to bring more hash power, I wasn't meaning $250,000 worth of hardware! I would announce it on the forums if it was me.
It is very unlikely a group of individuals would decide to put that much mining power into Noble as an investment at this stage. However, if they have decided noble is the best alt coin to mine, that is probably a good sign we have a bright and strong future.

IMO that much hash power (outside of Litecoin) must be mining hardware manufactures running their equipment to make profit before sending out the units to customers. If that is correct, we need to be prepared for another 100 million noble being dumped to market in the coming weeks/months. This would also explain the huge fluctuations in mining power and difficulty from day to day.

Hey guys, I've setup a Noblecoin faucet at CryptoBlox for anyone looking for a few free coin drips. 10k was contributed by us, any additional donations to the faucet are welcomed.

www.cryptoblox.com

Owned and operated by the same dev that brought you CharityMiningPools. Smiley

Donated 30,000 to faucet. Charity mining pool is surprisingly good too. Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately Poolerino is still broken and not giving any payouts or confirmed coins. Until Poolerino is fixed you should consider changing to another pool. I changed to Noble charity pool and have been recommending it to other miners. Charity pool increased by 130 Mhash in about 15 hours! Currently sitting at 260 Mhash total and payouts are working great.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: May 30, 2014, 03:49:00 AM
I have been doing some detective work.
I looked at the mining hash rate on all of the Noble pools and found we currently account for about 50% (32mhash) of the network hash rate. So at this stage it should only take 5000-10,000 more khash to combat the 51% attack.

Also, am I paranoid or do the 2 top wallets on the rich list look suspicious?
http://chainz.cryptoid.info/nobl/address.dws?384427.htm
http://chainz.cryptoid.info/nobl/address.dws?407772.htm

They appear to be new, have been active recently and rocketed to the top of the list in a very short time.

I like conspiracy theories, so what are people opinions on what's going on here? New whales filling their bags? 51% attack mining wallets waiting to be dumped? They could also be mintpal/trading site wallets, but I doubt it.

Found this list http://crypt.la/2014/04/12/218-best-cryptocurrencies-social-media/. Noble only gets a 'B' grade(#71), but judging by the number of scum/scam coins above us I don't think being near the top means much.

I live in Australia and have a registered Perth Mint account that's about six years old. You will be easily able to buy Perth Mint bullion shipped cheaply from Australia. Wink There have just been too many dotting the i's and crossing the t's in the meantime, since I can't afford to be seen doing wrong here being publicly registered.

Great to hear! The number of precious metals guys adopting crypto, and crypto guys buying bullion/coins is increasing. Having a reliable and most importantly legitimate source of gold and silver will definitely be a big step forward. Earth coin already have that option, but with respect to them, it isn't handled professionally enough. Also, they certainly don't have connections to one of the most respected precious metals suppliers in the world!
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**50 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: May 26, 2014, 10:04:45 AM

That's why our approach is always going to be on pushing our 'brand' and what we represent out there as well as working on infrastructure and uses for the actual coin. We are actively working on a number of forks/ideas and wallets to test right now but we wanted to get the new Marketplace and Steps in full gear beforehand. I've been called stubborn and in some ways I am, but every time we've stuck to our guns since Jan. and taken a more measured approach we've been more or less right. Now I know it unfortunately hasn't helped our price short-term, but it's stopped us from dying medium-term. We believe you simply cannot just jump on every bandwagon these coins try to jump on to get a short-term value rise.

Once again, very well said Rofo. Everything you said is spot on.

While it is painful and disheartening to see the price drop further than we thought it could ever go, it is still VERY early days. Especially for Noble!
Treat these currencies like companies. Invest in the ones that have the best director, community, future planning and dedication and you will be minimising the chances of losing your investment. Remember that at this stage the investors (you), have as much power to make or break a coin as it's creator.

Unfortunately I speak from experience when I say; no matter how many new (flavour of the week) coins you invest in, you will probably never be one of the 1% that makes a profit.
Thankfully my ethos has always been to invest in long term coins and I have seen many 'fad' coins come and go in the 5 odd months since I got started.

In regards to the POW/POS/X11/anon war, IMO we already have the answer. The only algo we need is what LTC had all along. If it wasn't near perfect it wouldn't have survived the first 6 months of existence. Although, anonymity is somewhat important and as far as I can see the only truly useful advancement to the crypto scene since POW scrypt was implemented.

While Noble doesn't (yet) have all the latest/new features, ultimately that isn't going to affect it's potential.

See why Noble is right to stay as it is for now (first 2 posts):

Unfortunately, as much as I want to spend my Noble to help keep it circulating, I don't have a use for gift cards right now. However, as soon as gold and silver is sold for Noble I'll be very interested! Mining and buying Noble in preparation for spending millions of Noble on precious metals.

I'm almost hesitant to mention it, as people may gobble up all the amazon cards before I even get any. But you do know that amazon sells gold/silver coins, right? They sell basically everything. I'm not sure how their prices are, but at 20-30% off, I expect they'd be profitable.

I am a New Zealander which makes it prohibitively expensive to have precious metals sent from the US. Also most of the metals I want are from NZL or the Perth mint in Australia. Buying gift cards to use as a store of value in place of dollars is what I am trying to avoid.

I support cryptocurrencies as a direct form of payment, and believe people need to push to use them in place of government fiat currencies in order to increase their intrinsic value.
Despite the fact that the cryptography and technology that goes into creating these cryptocurrencies is far more valuable and advanced than any fiat money will ever be, the average person will never want this ground breaking revolution if they can't easily turn it into a physical item.

As a long time supporter, investor and miner of Noble I'd just like to say that the developers and community are still doing an excellent job.
Even after months of $hitcoins, pumpndump coins and 'flavour of the month' coins coming and going, Rofo and the Noble team have stayed true to the vision.  They know what is required to turn a revolutionary technology into something the world needs. Noble may just be a currency right now, but it has the potential to be an international brand (dream big)!

The current low price of Noble is unsettling. So if you are scared, now is the time to buy. No other new coin that I can find has the long term potential of Noble.

I mine Noble 24/7 and will be adding another 11 m hash Gridseed Asic to the pool soon, so for me, making Noble asic resistant is not the answer. Asics are inevitable and necessary! They run cheaply (saving massive amounts of power) and are far more efficient than GPUs will ever be.
There will be an influx of coins when the asic arms race begins, but that is only a problem if miners are stupid enough to sell for crazy cheap prices and supply exceeds demand. I mine to hold and support the infrastructure.
While I agree Noble is a great coin I'm not sure about the future of any scrypt coin when it comes to ASICs. ASICs only benefit the ASIC seller, the hardware makers in China. They presell and wont ship until its absolutely not profitable. Before that they just use it themselves to mine with it, using the hardware you PRE-PAID for. This is a known fact. Thats why all ASICs are "always LATE for shipping and months behind" because they are using the hardware and waiting for difficulty to skyrocket before they ship them to the poor buyer. Gridseed seems to be the only exception ATM.The buyer spends $4000 on a piece of hardware that just makes it harder for him and anyone else to mine. Exactly what happened to BTC. Buying a $4000 BTC miner makes you $12/day at current prices, that's BS. With the best scrypt price (LTC) at around 2% of the price of BTC how long will it take to pay for that $4000 miner? ASICs do kill mining.

GPU mining is never antiquated because its Windows based and possibilities are limitless. There will be constant new algorithms and ways to make new coins. JMHO

GPU miners are selling just as hard as asic miners. Miners are for network security and distribution (through selling) of coins. In general (there are always exceptions), miners are not "holders" of value. GPU miners are against asics because they can make less money by selling their now fewer coins.

EDIT: as reference: I do not own, nor plan to own an asic and I stopped GPU mining.

I paid 2200USD for 11,000 khashes of Gridseed equipment running for $1 per day @ 200watts, mining $30 of coins. I also have 5 x R9 280X GPUs running at 3700 khash using 1430watts and mining at around $4 LOSS per day.
The main reason I still run the GPUs is because I have a 2.6Kw PV solar system powering them. Without my solar system it would be stupid to continue GPU mining. If everyone stopped mining, the coins won't exist and the network collapses.
So to say "ASICs only benefit the ASIC seller, the hardware makers in China" is wrong. Once all the greedy GPU miners stop because they aren't getting rich, who is left to support the network? Only dedicated miners like me that embrace progress and realise you don't mine to get rich now. You mine and HOLD to get rich in years to come like with BTC.

There really isn't much of a point to argue, when we are seeing history repeating. BTC went through the exact same process and it's easily the biggest and strongest network thanks to efficient asics. GPUs just help to consume the earths resources turning electrons into heat.

New algorithms will constantly be developed to try and be one step ahead of asics (which is good for the development of cryptocurrencies), but the fact is they are just delaying the inevitable and slowing the integration of cryptocurrencies into the real world.

"how long will it take to pay for that $4000 miner?" - If I mine LTC and hold them for 5 years, chances are it took 2 days to pay off my mining hardware!
