41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Now that most of RTX 3070 on sale are LHR, what Nvidia GPUS to buy? on: September 19, 2021, 09:27:24 AM
my a4000 were 1167 with tax and shipping  and a 1.5%  discount . so about 1152

a 6800xt is a bit more.

I also like the 1 slot aspect of them.

Of course they all sold out at 1167 and are now 1200 plus tax to 1399 plus tax.

Not worth 1300-1500 with the tax.

but okay at 1152 total

Yeah, seem you found them before others noticed their performance.

1300-1500 is current pricing for these now.
I like the 1-slot solution as well with only a 6-pin power.

You got yourself a great deal there for the solution at hand.
And I don't think prices drop on those cards too much on the second hand market either unless you use them for far too long.
So you could off-hand them even in a Crypto market crash if electricity becomes too much for a decent price while the gaming cards would price-drop considerably.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Now that most of RTX 3070 on sale are LHR, what Nvidia GPUS to buy? on: September 18, 2021, 01:38:27 PM
Hi Bitcointalk community,

2 months ago I bought a GPU it was a RTX 3070 (not LHR) and I was thinking to continue buying more RTX 3070 (not LHR). Now I browse on Ebay.ca and was surprised to realized that there's no more RTX 3700 (not LHR), they are all LHR.

I would like to hear from you, what Nvidia GPUs are you now buying on the market?
In term of efficiency (hashrate per watt) I came to the conclusion that the RTX 3070 was the best to mine ETH.

Thank you in advance.

rtx a4000
RTX 4000 is a low power GPU compare to rtx3070, RTX4000 does 36MH max mining Ethereum and rtx3070 does 60MH+ if it's not the LHR version, the RTX4000 is comparable to AMD 6600XT instead

you should delete your misinformation. while it is true about the rtx 4000 it does not apply to

the rtx a4000 as it is a very good card.

 I have 7 doing 57 mh at 125 watts

we ordered 18 in total and now have 13 delivered

here are 7 mining as I type

I looked at prices but aren't RX 6800/XT/6900XT better in the end?

The A4000 are going for the same price as those but the AMD cards does 60-66mH/s at similar wattage.

The A4000 seems priced the same as 6900XT but if you can find 6800/6800XT you can go cheaper.

Even considering that it takes almost 1.5-2 years to get ROI nominal. Excluding electricity and taxes on gains making it even longer.

Unless you are getting your A4000 at considerable discounts? Not retail pricing.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dual mining ETC+ZIL Linux/Ubuntu problem on: September 17, 2021, 11:46:51 AM
How much extra does the dual mining bring vs just doing ETC?

Is there a performance loss on ETC if you dual-mine ZIL?

Been seeing this around but no one really showed if it was worth it or not to bother with.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WildRig Multi 0.29.0: multi-algo miner for AMD & NVIDIA on: September 16, 2021, 08:37:45 AM
What kind of hashrate should one expect from KawPow with a 6900XT?

I'm getting around 31-32mH/s and I feel it's kinda low.

Within expectations for these cards from AMD for Ravencoin?
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin recovery? Can someone please help on: September 07, 2021, 05:26:30 AM
Dogecoin private keys start with a Q so when you say '9LKEM' it's something different unless you omitted the first 'Q' letter in the key.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it reasonable to start a new GPU mining farm right when eth 2.0 is so close? on: September 06, 2021, 08:23:06 AM
What ETH 2.0? The earlier the better mate many people refuse to join the train years back simply because people keep talking about upcoming Ethereum PoS and oh ETH mining is coming to an end, none of that happen till this day

I still think they will switch to progpow vs doing pos.

They can

1) stick with this current algo means they are voting for asics and companies like bitmain, innosilicon, linzhi

2) switch to progpow alog it means they are voting for amd ,nvidia ,intel.

3) switch to piece of shit = POS which screws bitmain, innosilicon, linzhi, amd, nvidia , intel.

I am guessing he switches from 1 to 2 not from 1 to 3.

All indications are it's going PoS by end of this year.
You can trust a person like Vitalik Buterin to screw the miners over hard.

They want the centralization PoS allows. Then the amount of money you have dictates your influence and nothing else.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Unable to use OpenCL device AMD 15D8:CC (pcie 6) for Ethash mining on: September 06, 2021, 07:57:17 AM
The mining software just don't support iGPU in general, not implemented in code to allow them to run.

So unless you ask the developer you have no chance. The hassle for them might not be worth their time even if you ask.
They need to have the part in hand to test code/optimize to see if it even works as well.

I tried to have it supported for 5000G but we encountered issues which could not be resolved unless the developer had the parts themselves to debug.

So if you want to do software development on your own you could make a try yourself but otherwise I don't see support coming around.

Its not just a dev issue.  How are you going to get 5GB of VRAM (not ram) on any of these cpus igpu?

Without the VRAM you WILL NOT mine ETH.

I can select 16GB for the iGPU in the BIOS for a 5700G... Same with 4650G, 16GB can be selected.
It's a motherboard & BIOS option.

If you are complaining RAM is not fast enough... ddr4 can reach 5000Mhz with the right kit of memory.

49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU Mining altcoins on: September 05, 2021, 09:18:52 AM
ROI on CPU coins is in the years, not months like with GPU mining as of this moment.

Basically your equipment will be kinda obsolete by the time it has if ever returned enough coins to pay for the CPU alone if you buy new.
Your only recourse is to bet/gamble on the price-increase of the particular coins you want to mine.

You could scourge the market for second-hand CPU's of the better variety but you still need all the motherboards etc to go along with it.
And if you gonna mine you can't cheap out on the motherboards too much otherwise you will burn them out. The cheapest boards can't handle the higher wattage CPU's.

Basically you are better of using a GPU to mine other coins and taking payout in the CPU coin you want, than to directly mine with your CPU.

They are all "undervalued" in comparison for the effort/energy used.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvida CMP 170HX 164MH/s on: September 05, 2021, 08:46:34 AM
I'm wondering how AMD CDNA/CDNA2 compute cards can manage.

They are the true successors to the Radeon VII cards. All have HBM on them. They should be similar to the Nvidia ones if we look at the bandwidth alone.
And they will most likely not gimp performance and differentiate between Mining/ASIC and their compute capabilities.

AMD is increasing their performance at a staggering pace each generation and I see no news or stories about these cards at all. No interest at all it seems.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Nvida CMP 170HX 164MH/s on: September 03, 2021, 12:42:21 PM
New mining cards hitting the street.

Nvidia CMP 170HX hitting 164MH/s for Ehtereum mining.

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-cmp-170hx-cryptomining-card-spotted-passive-design-offering-164-mh-s-hash-rate

https://www.tweaktown.com/news/81424/nvidia-cmp-170hx-crypto-mining-card-teased-insane-164mh-hash-rate/index.html

The end for consumer miner cards?

The compute cards are so much more better for this than the gaming GPU's.

Nvidia's card is based on their A100 accelerator in a gimped format to limit it to crypto mining only.
But the general Compute cards as just as capable but with a premium price.

How does AMD CDNA compare? Will we those also enter the market?
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: September 03, 2021, 08:18:13 AM
PoS will kill the coin...

It will become worthless if you can't mine it.

It will be just like the other 10000X PoS tokens that have no value.

Anyone catch the news about 485000 RX 470 8GB gpu's being returned to a mining company after being confiscated in China when their bans went into effect?

All those gpu's for just one company affiliate in China to mine Ethereum coming back online when they setup a new location.

That's a 5-10% increase in hashing power from what the current one is.

Got a link to an article about it?

https://www.tweaktown.com/news/81368/485-000-radeon-rx-470s-returned-to-cloud-mining-company-by-china/index.html

Here you go.

EDIT: Got the TH/s number wrong for the total. More like 2-3% from what I said earlier.

We are going only uphill now regarding difficulty and hash rate because many new people will join.Even if such number of cards would not exist at all or would not be returned back to where they belong the hash rate will only go up as long as the price of Ethereum stays above 3000 dollars as it is right now the most profitable coin to mine and as such it attracts many new persons. We are already near the all time high at 8.42 P regarding the difficulty of the Ethereum network yet I see my mining rewards not going down a lot, before I was doing 22-24 USD daily now I am doing 21 USD daily so it still remains extremely profitable to mine Ethereum.

I was surprised by the scale they were working at, 10x more than what I expected from just one affiliate alone.

I was thinking it wasn't this concentrated and there were more varied players around.

So one company has the majority of the hashing power on the network looking at this one part of their arsenal being "told".
These are fairly old GPU's as well and better cards are around.

If they offload these GPU's to the market...
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Plenty Baby Coins out there on: August 31, 2021, 10:29:14 AM
Tokens have made the barrier to entry so much easier from both availability & easy of access that you can pump out new variants of PoS Tokens daily from Copy paste developers out to get your hard earned cash.

Tokens are basically Proof of Scams.

It's easier to setup a Token and rug-pull than a PoW coin. It's a endless cycle of people being greedy and wanting to earn fast cash by entering these schemes and shilling the scam to unwitting customers.

They attract new users into these schemes by being really easy to setup and get into by you just buying a large amount of valued dust from you app with a few clicks.

People think this stuff is the "cryptocurrency" thing people are talking about not being aware they are being taken advantage off by their ignorance.

New users should not enter the market by buying these Tokens that have no actual value. You would get more for your money buying lottery tickets.

Tokens & PoS is the place where all scams take place now a days in the crypto world.
The hassle of setting up a PoW coin is too much hassle vs the effort & reward to doing it through PoS Tokens.

It's a complete hustle all the new variants of the same thing over and over again.

The market only really needs a few dozen projects & coins to in actuality to work.

Has the backup thing in the wallet been fixed?

Created corrupt, non-functioning backups in the older wallets. Learned a hard lesson there not to trust the software being reliable.

Should be fixed with 0.10.1.
Corrupt wallet files can usually be fixed using BerkDB tools, an example commandline:
Code:
db4.8_dump wallet.dat | db4.8_load wallet.dat.new

Still issues...

Tried to create a backup and the wallet crashed.

The wallet application can't deal with non-English letters like "å, ä, ö" in the file-path.

Don't want to trust the backup feature now either... (gonna do manual ones)

Do you wish to add support for 4000G or 5000G iGPU in the Miner?

list-gpu-devices says and lists the device but the Actual miner application just ignored it when trying to use it.

Said no Suitable GPU devices found?

Not something you wish to add? I was just curious what kind of performance one could get but could not start to even test.

I don't have a ryzen with an integrated gpu so i can't do much here.

Do you need a device ID or something to add it in the code?

I presume you have a list of approved GPU's or something for the miner to allow?

Yeah, but you assume that its enough to allow a codename, and it will magically work Smiley

You need sku specific optimization/code and such to be done? Bummer.
It's supposed to be "VEGA", so was guessing it shouldn't have been too much work to do a test. But it's work, nonetheless.

Will not bother to ask you more about it.
I don't expect them to be any performance killers either.

60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Crash or new sunrise of crypto on: August 20, 2021, 04:01:38 PM
What is happening rather than Crypto crashing to find a new price floor we have FIAT currency with the DOLLAR as lead, have inflation to catch and support the crypto price floors, erasing any real collapse of Crypto market prices measured in FIAT but in real terms only FIAT became less valued while Crypto experienced a smaller correction from the earlier year hype staying on their "inflated" prices near ATH.

We will most likely see a increase in Crypto prices as the year goes on. FIAT will keep getting cheaper as inherent inflation of US DOLLAR is realized in the economy. While Crypto most likely will keep current prices as mainstream adoption and investor approval increases with their funds going in and buying up whatever they feel like is a good investment against inflation.

We are seeing widespread acceptance and adoption of Crypto currencies. Now it's a battle which currencies in the Crypto market will catch the money pouring in. They are escaping the money press.
