Woohoo, lol
10745    7    10/15 1:56 am    0 Min    4    11.875 LTC

LhMeXbqD718Eg7cKxMACRJzuKWu5wPb4yH_1 was the user that actually found the 4 share block. Congrats on your portion on of it.

I'll add some cooler stuff like who found what blocks and stuff in the future. Things are humming along very nicely. My first public pool like I mentioned before and very fun. I am enjoying this a lot. It's like solo mining on steroids Cheesy I know I don't get all the blocks but it is so fun to find them!
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ! First Live, working, wonderful haha LiteCoin Pool! LTC! on: October 14, 2011, 10:08:02 PM
We just found a round with 4 shares in a couple of seconds. 4 people each just got 12 coins from that block.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ! First Live, working, wonderful haha LiteCoin Pool! LTC! on: October 14, 2011, 09:50:32 PM
That's been fixed guys. You'll see those three blocks all have the same payout.

This is my first public pool, so set up backups if you can. I don't want someone to be pissed off at me if something happens. Cool? We are mining about 1 out of 5 blocks which matches up exactly to the current pool hash rate. Thanks for making it a success guys.

Since this is an alt chain pool, should I put it in the pool thread too? This forum seemed the most appropriate place.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ! First Live, working, wonderful haha LiteCoin Pool! LTC! on: October 14, 2011, 09:38:00 PM
Guys, just had a problem with the pool. Never had the chance to test the function to call the stats update in case one hadn't run and there was a block found. Path name was a typo and so two blocks found very quickly back to back didn't get awarded.

10702    27    10/15 12:51 am    2 Min    1    0 LTC
10700    29    10/15 12:49 am    2 Min    1    0 LTC

I am going to take the results from the previous block, 10698 for those that were connected to the pool and award those two blocks at the same ratio. That's the fairest way I can easily do it because stats had not calculated for that round, and the stats for that were in the next block.

Give me a few minutes to write the insert query. They will mature like normal.

Hi everyone,

Complete noob to pool mining. Can someone help?

Which program do I use for pool mining? Windows client binary, daemon, litecoin-windows-miner-10-10-2011.zip (crashes on me) or something else?

Which file do I have to configure? Where do I put my information? I have already registered.

Thanks everyone.

n.olmos

I'm not going to be able to help you so much. Some of the fish in here don't play with windows very much. I can give you step by step build instructions if you want to dual boot into linux. But if the windows daemon is crashing on you, not going to be able to help you. Sorry.

Works, but I think you're overestimating my khash/sec by more than a factor of 2.

I'm tweaking it right now. I need to sit down and figure out the math. It's a rolling 5 minute period for estimation of stats based on how many shares are submitted. A good 5 minute period will make you look like you are stronger than you are. Bad period, will be weak. Overall, should average out.

FAQ update with this and some other questions I've been getting.

what is the port to be used for mining ?

IP: 184.107.145.244   Port: 8332   connect your miners there.

4 more blocks found since my last post.

I update the stats page a little. I removed the Mhash references. Sorry. I fixed the Khash calculation. It was about 4 times too high before.

Changed stats update to every 5 minutes instead of every 15 for now.

And round shares, from the block stats... well, each block was overwriting all the previous info. I'll try and update all of that and get the original numbers on there. The data is still in the db, just will take a minute.

PM me with any issues, ideas, comments, etc.

Is this good enough support for litecoin that I can get the japanese scammer tag added to that kids signature?

Is it possible to be able to update the states every couple minutes instead of 15mins?

I just changed it to update every 5 minutes. The hash rate was about 4 times more than it should be for stats, that's been fixed. Let me know if you seen any issues.

For the time being, no. I need to update the stats to show round shares. This would be very limited pool hopping protection. I know the LTC is young but I don't want to penalize the other workers if someone got the idea.

Just curious, is this built off of the tenebrix mod of pushpoold?

This is artforz's pushpool fork. Same as simplecoin as far as I'm aware.

Update real quick, I restarted pushpoold a couple of times to take off the higher level of logging and reboot the machine real quick. Should be set now.

Take your -s setting away from 2-6 or whatever and change it to at least 30 seconds or more. Pushpool is enabled. So if you are constantly requesting work, the botnet protection I have, you'll probably get banned automatically. Push your request work rate back a bit and we'll all have fun.

I mentioned we found a block while I was typing the announcement, hoping for more soon.

The hash rate displayed on the website, isn't right. I'm checking my formulas and fixing that. The pretty stuff will get fixed as we go. The core stuff is running fancy.

Remember * I've had this asked several times in PM and in the threads. "FOUND" on the pool doesn't mean you found a 50 LTC block. It means you found a lower difficulty share. Your shares / pool shares is your percentage of the block once it is found. I'll toss this in the FAQ's and some other things in a bit.

Pool is back online now.

Stats are updated every 15 minutes, so check it out again. We have found about 10 blocks as of right now!

In the pool, the target is fixed, so those founds, are shares, not blocks.

Sheesh... took long enough to figure out wtf I was doing wrong on the easy_target. Sorry about that.

http://184.107.145.244

Okay, We've got Longpolling enabled, stats are delayed 5 minutes.

Registration is simple. Submit a litecoin address. That is your LOGIN name. No password required. Password is required for changing your minimum payouts and making an instant payout. Passwords are double sha'd salt and peppered. I would still not recommend using a password you use on other sites.

The address you sign up with is where payments will go. You CANNOT change this later.

Your worker names are your LTCADDRESS_1:1 through 9 (LTCADDRESS_9:9) No worker registration required. If you need more workers, please register another account.

I do have some built in precautions against botnets. If you have a high number of IP's going at one account, please contact me first.

and FYI! While typing this, we just found our first block after I made the easy_target changes!!! We've found about 10 blocks now.

Payouts are made after your payment threshold that you set is met and after the block has matured 120 confirmations. You can request an instant payment any time.

The pool currently charges a 5% fee. I was worried about orphans, but so far, none. Difficulty looks like it is strong enough now.

If BTC-E doesn't implement quickly, my next project is a quick BTC TBX LTC exchange.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: October 14, 2011, 03:05:04 PM
I'll start a seperate thread about this. But I found the problem. the artforz pushpool fork I am using isn't sending out an easy target.

I'm using the lines in his config sample:
Code:
# rewrite returned 'target' to given number of zero bits, 32 equals difficulty-1
"rpc.target.bits" : 32,

It currently is sending out 0x000000f0ff0f0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Bitcoin 1 difficulty is 0x00000000FFFF0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

The < 1 difficulty should be less than 0x0000b01724000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Anyone have an easy fix I can put in the config or recompile?

https://github.com/ArtForz/pushpool

As soon as I can fix the difficulty, the pool will be full speed ahead. I'll start another thread about this outside of the official litecoin one, but thought I might be able to get a quick response here.

I can move mine to confirm I have them, just let me know in PM so I can prove it first.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: October 14, 2011, 01:14:49 PM
Update real quick on the pool guys:

The pool is working. There are 4-5 people that either have been PAID out or have payout but their minimum threshold hasn't been met. Feet free to confirm that, I'll post block explorer if I have to but I would rather a user have the discretion at identifying their own LTC address. Privacy, right?

Now... what's going on with the pool? I think it's working, but the target isn't correct. We should have hundreds of shares per block. We are getting 2-10 shares per block. I think the target is incorrect. I don't know if this will get better as the difficulty gets higher, or if this is what is going on.

You are not getting any shares in your account, because they are not difficulty 1 shares (or the .000024 or whatever they are) But not all shares getting turned in hit the target and some are stale.

I'm still looking into it. It's working, but not like it is supposed to.

I'll restart pushpoold on the test server I set up and see if I can grab the packet with the difficulty and see what it is sending out. It may be a simple fix. May not be.

Also, the pool was hard coded at a 5% fee. I was going to zero that out to start and eventually set it back at 5. Things never really took off and I didn't even know we were going to find blocks on it.

PM your LTC address and username and I'll send you back the pools 5%. A failing beta version doesn't deserve it ATM.

I do not trust you. Come by the IRC channel tomorrow and we can figure something out.

So much for that... lol. Hopefully btc-e opens soon and they can take their cut and act as the intermediary.

I'll list 3000 LTC for sale at 0.012 -> 36 BTC

I was going to put my hard ass > 1kh/s to try this new pool, but it seems Litecoin has frozen my computer.  This is the second time.  Using the latest windows client.  No error messages, nothing else was running on the computer.   Same comp was running fine last night.

Don't use the pool. It doesn't work.

I set up a VM on a different server, installed the same OS, compiled everything. Set it all up, and the same results.

Pushpool gives out work, everything looks okay, but no shares are ever found. I don't know if the target is messed up or what. It worked fine on the testnet, but on the litecoin mainnet, nothing.

I'm to the 12 hour of wasted time point where I'm just going to fuck it and give up. The RPC calls work fine. When you register, it uses an RPC call to verify the litecoin address (after sanitation of course)

So... sorry for now. I don't know if Artforz is following this thread, but I'm using his modified tbx pushpool. Should be the same from what I understand.

When the real chain went live this morning I had to delete all the existing files in my .litecoin directory. Before I did that, although I had testnet=0 in the conf, I was on the testnet still. After deleting them (except the litecoin.conf of course) and restarting the client, I was mining on the real network.

Check if this is something as simple as that.

I'm not new to this stuff unfortunately. I tried deleting everything except for the config file and redownloading. After catching up with the chain... nothing.

Does solo mining work for you?
Are you running litecoind with daemon=1 and server=1?

I didn't have daemon on testnet and it worked fine. This is a linux dedicated server and I run litecoin on a screen. I added it, and same results.
