shouldn't this go somewhere else? if its a bitcoin proposal surely it is not an alt coin?
47  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: November 03, 2011, 08:27:05 AM
Now different people have the different trusted wallets and now also the source to build there node themselves. The only thing a malicious trusted node can do is rejecting certain blocks, but the other trusted nodes will approve it. This really doesn't look like "total control"  Grin

The problem with this concept is, as stated in multiple locations, trusted nodes can share the same wallets. this means that RS(or indeed anyone who has a trusted node wallet) can setup multiple nodes and validate or invalidate as much as they want. by simply having more nodes you can control the entire network. since the trusted nodes are few and with low diff to deal with for even blocks, it doesn't take much to fork the chain.the only way to prevent this is to make sure that every single client on the chain is able to validate all blocks on the network using the same rules. if the trusted nodes have all the say, then derailing the network would be significantly easier in SC than any other altcoin to date.

now i could be wrong , but based on what i have seen said, this makes sense. if not, please point out why and "you are a troll" is not a valid argument.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: banned from solidcoin forum on: November 02, 2011, 09:40:29 AM

But in order to take SC seriously proof would be needed that he can _not_. Which could easily be given by releasing the source.

Don't think the source is going to help anything. The problem with the SC setup is that the trusted nodes do most of the control of the network. This means that unless you have the source they are running as well as the code used to start the network, you will never know 100% what is going on with SC. The only way releasing the source will actually result in greater trust is if the chain is reset and started again with only clients using the released source version.

[18:40] <TimothyA> the issue was with neither squidnet's code or solidcoin (partly solidcoin, due to the send buys prior to b9)
[18:40] <TimothyA> it was MMC's code which was full of shit code and race conditions
[20:11] <TimothyA> forward that to the bitcointalk thread about squidnet
[20:11] <TimothyA> it won't let me post there

so looks like i was wrong.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did we ever find out why squidnet was losing money? on: November 01, 2011, 09:48:21 PM
from what i saw in the chat the issue seemed less to do with solidcoin and more to do with squidnet code. seemed like it was sending out coins to users while also marking those coins as reserved in the pool wallet to be sent out on request of the users. perhaps that is not the case but that is what seemed to be said in SC irc.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What effect will changing the block size from 32 to 5 have on SC? on: November 01, 2011, 07:02:23 PM

Just a few days ago in IRC his own people were asking when he was going to release B10, he stated as soon as I get 5000 SC in donation and posted his address. He followed it up, that "I am sick and tired of working 12 hour days for you people for free"...

He wasn't joking.

So I am not surprised at all by this.

Logs or it's assumed to be more BEX fabrication.

56  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why would anyone actually use solidcoin? on: October 30, 2011, 11:40:25 AM
I don't mean to be rude, but if solidcoin had came first, people would be having this discussion about bitcoin. Besides, bitcoin traders created a central authority when they put their eggs in one gox-shaped basket.

Don't see how it created a central authority. mtgox is a large exchange but they don't control the flow of coins. without their approval i can send any number of coins to anyone i want, or use tons of other exchanges. this hardly qualifies as a central authority for bitcoin.
57  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All these new BitCoin clones? Your opinions? on: October 30, 2011, 11:34:26 AM
the problem with people saying bitcoin is dieing is that they are looking at it as a means of making money. bitcoin was not designed as something to be mined forever and constantly make money from it in that way. it is meant to be a means of payment for goods and services. when looking at bitcoin and saying that the price has dropped and this means its dieing, all that you are seeing is that it is making less sense to just mine and dump. the core concept of bitcoin is still there. you can still exchange your coins for money and the other way around. some places accept coins directly, and this is more what bitcoin is for.

Alt coins who spring up take people away from bitcoins, but generally these people are the ones looking to grab a bunch of coins really fast and then dump them for as much money as they can get. these tend to be people who don't really support bitcoin to start with. they are more so here to make free money.
