41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MIT students get 100$ worth of Bitcoin to spend by Wallstreet donor on: May 01, 2014, 07:32:55 AM

Why not give $100 in BTC to every member of bitcointalk instead ?

This is probably because we are already using Bitcoin, and they want to attract new users, that will also benefit us.

Thank you for your quick reply back.

The security part is clear to me now, tnx
however the second part is not clear just yet.

You are saying that openclerk is used to retrieve data for the balances. But I thought that information is retrieved by the API issued by for e.g. BTC-e.com. If this is not the case where do we need the BTC-e API for.

For students around Amsterdam, there is a "student ticket" for 75+5 euro.

Im still studying Bitcoin, think that would work to get me a cheap ticket  Grin

I will be there (hello everybody) in my professional capacity on a press ticket. The hotel where some of the talks are taking place is sold out, so I have to find somewhere near the airport, if anyone can recommend somewhere cheapish which will make it easy to get there and back then please let me know.

The conference is just 5 min away from Amsterdam city centre, there are plenty of hotels there. The airport is 15 min drive to to city/conference. Check agoda.com for hotels

Ticket €400,- + food and drink €25,- a day + transport (taxi or parking) €25,- a day

Think your better of buying a Bitcoin and read about the conference on the internet after  Grin

Hi there Soundasleep,

I vistited the website but I have a question (maybe noob) but if I go to the link: configure account
there it says, add security exchanges.

Can you explane me what security exchanges are?
And what does Openclerk do exactly?

Thanks

Its going to be hard at this moment to clean so many coins, but then again why hurry if you have so many and have time.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I can't find any information on Nick Szabo, is he is who he says he is? on: April 22, 2014, 07:44:41 PM
Satoshi, whoever you are, thank you, you really worked hard for everyone. Otsukaresama

Maybe it would be better to spend less time trying to find satoshi, and simply promote his ideals.

If you try to find satoshi, it will only give him troubles and waste his valuable time.

I feel that is something nobody here would like to do.

I agree, but someone made the argument that if the real satoshi comes forward, especially if he/she/they are spectacular in some way, the news would go nuts about it and tons of people would hear about Bitcoin. Imagine the media frenzy it would cause.
[/quote]

Then again, if that mass people hears about Bitcoin, it will still be to difficult for a lot of them to find where and how to buy them. There has to be more easy to understand information.
I don't even want to know who Satoshi is at this moment.

"the two chasers began sending the thief tiny fractions of Bitcoins, specifically 0.00666 Bitcoins"

Well my guess is they are only giving him more coins to spend, they just can not keep dropping small amount on all new addresses.

nice read btw!

52  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is This worth a try?? on: April 18, 2014, 07:12:47 AM
I also wanted to buy some mining rigs, but the friends I have that do some mining themselves told me its better to buy some coins now with $ then to buy some rigs.
But if you have enough money to play with it is still profitable( if the enery cost are not high)

good luck !
