We're proud to announce the release of a new wallet, version 0.8.7.2!  It's an incremental release that improves some networking code and it's recommended for everyone to upgrade.  This is NOT mandatory, and no hard fork is taking place.  Fear not, and Enjoy.

First round of hardware updates complete.  Another one might be coming in a few days, but for now things are looking good again.

Yeah, that's something we were trying to not make confusing.  The network/blockchain keeps running, but we had some temporary site and pool problems.  More updates will be coming soon, as things progress.

Quick update, we are working on bringing the site up (should be up at the moment) and pool back up (not yet up), but this is temporary until new hardware arrives tomorrow at the earliest.  At best, expect more downtime of those two later this week, but we'll keep this thread updated.

The ConfessionCoin network is still running properly of course (thanks to the decentralization), as there are many full nodes still running!

The site and pool are down again due to hardware problems.  They likely won't be back for a while, as we are unable to get the replacement parts needed today.  We'll keep this thread updated.  PLEASE use alternate pools if possible.

The pool is back now, and so is the main site.  Both were having different issues, but should be good to go now.

The official pool is having some problems and needs maintenance, but it should be be back online soon.  There are other pools operating, so if they're open to the public, please tell the others here!

ConfessionCoin was never meant to be a "pump and dump", so being on an exchange hasn't been a major priority for us.  If that's what the community wants, it will take some assistance from the community to make it happen.

For example, Bittrex has expressed interest in adding us, but will only do so if the CFN community rallies for it (via Twitter and e-mail).

We are looking for healthy, slow and steady growth -- not an overnight spike only to disappear into nothingness.  There are many other coins for that kind of thing.

Hrm, that's odd.  The loads are sometimes slow here, but it's not consistent.  We are doing our best running the official pool, but we'd really prefer to see some other pools step up and stick around for a while.  If anyone has recommendations of pool operators, please let us know and we'll try to contact them (or if you can contact them about it, we'd appreciate it).

We're assuming this is either a non-issue, or it's been resolved.  The pool has continued to run properly for some time now.  Any updates you'd like to share?

Yes, that sounds about right.  Let us know if you get an alternate build system up -- we're very interested to know if that's a viable option.

Correct.  We're hopeful, but for now QtWebkit is not supported in our build system so it's been disabled on Windows.

We recommend using the GNU/Linux or OS X wallet anyway for security reasons!

Definitely an optional update!  In terms of network compatibility, it's ok to stay on the older version (for example on a pool), but the main reason to upgrade is because this new one utilizes the DNS seed feature now that we have some servers running.  This will help the CFN network mesh better with more active connections as more people upgrade their wallets.

Other than that, the addition of the Confessional is a user facing convenience, which allows you to read and enter confessions without having to go to the external http://confessioncoin.com site.

The latest wallets are now posted.  We encourage everyone to update, as it will help with the network connectivity.  Also, if you're using the graphical Linux or OS X, you can use the Confessional directly from the wallet!

New wallet available in github.  We're still trying to resolve the Windows wallet issue as previously described, so it may be delayed before it's an official new wallet release, but if you're an early adopter, it's compatible and testing is always appreciated.

Is anyone out there good at compiling Windows wallets?

The problem here is that our main dev made some changes to the wallet that uses some web based code to better integrate the site with the wallet, but it requires QtWebKit.  The Windows wallet builder does a cross a compile from Linux to Windows to generate the .exe ... but apparently the method they're using is NOT compatible with the QtWebKit changes due to a static linking requirement (and QtWebKit can't be statically linked).  We think that if someone has a setup to natively build Windows wallets on Windows, it should be just fine to be linked against that DLL, although it may have to also be distributed in the release zip.

Anyway, we're willing to pay a bounty for this if anyone is interested.  Also, if you're familiar with building the installer program, that would be great too.

Short of that, we may push the new features and have an OS X wallet out as well as the source for Linux.  We would still release a windows wallet (which of course is compatible), but it may not have some of the new features that the other wallets should have.
