41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / New to Crypto Currency Need Advise on: May 07, 2014, 09:01:00 PM
Greetings, I'm new to the crypto currency scene and I'm looking to start mining. I have a couple of questions and any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've been mining with my old gaming rig. It has a older gpu that I use to mine DOGE coin and I'm using the CPU to mine DRK at 130k/hash

I have 5,000 USD and looking to start mining. I'm interested in mining DRK simply because I think the x-11 is the strongest.

So I was thinking to get x6 Sapphire R9 290x Tri-X and run them with http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/h81%20pro%20btc/

Or some ASIC mining rigs from zeus miners http://zeusminer.com/shop/

What will be the most profitable coin to mine? My current cost of electric is 4.730 CENTS. Should I even bother in investing with such a small amount? If so by when should I see my 5000 back? I would love to mine BTC but that seems far fetched.

Any resource links and advice is welcome.

Please don't post ads or links selling me products unless they are with good intention and equipment you are using yourself.

Don't know how serious you are. And seeming that you have no one else to help you DEV, this looks very difficult to pull off. The general consensus of people like having a DEV that can be active full time.

Regardless, if you really are serious. I'd go with x-11 algorithms or Groestl. Seem like the future of crypto currency. In my opinion.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Any new X-11 plans? on: May 05, 2014, 09:07:03 AM
Has anyone heard any news or rumor about new x-11 coins. Seems to me that x-11 has all the features BTC was intended to have when it first came out.

Again this is just my opinion. I could be horribly wrong.

I want United States to upset the world so bad. But I don't think it's going top happen being grouped with Germany and Portugal. Fifa are a bunch of crooks and asshole rascists.

Huh How the FIFA becomes crooks and assholes for placing the US in a tough group? The group selection was done randomly and the event was televised. And for comparison, England is placed in an even tougher group.

Well maybe not exactly for that reason. But Fifa have been known undesirables. Is this really the first time you hear this?

Plus all those random selections are rigged in my opinion. Just like the NBA draft. Sports in general are bogus. Everyone has there hand in on it.

Only sport where it's nearly impossible to rig is golf. And even then you have players throw at times.

What do you guys think of http://mining.darkcointalk.org/

Been mining there for almost a week now and still haven't been able to find a block. Maybe some of you could switch over and help out with some HASH Smiley

No fee till May 8th and my gut tells me there should be a block soon...

DarkCoin will be the best. I thrives of what made BTC strong. Being, or at least attempt to be untraceable.

While I'm going to admit that DARK is not fully untraceable just yet. It's heading in the right direction. DOGE coin is risky with the upcoming ASICS.

48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you think XBC will hit .1btc price ratio? (poll) on: May 03, 2014, 11:57:24 PM
While the current price of XBC seems good. I'm wondering if some of you can quickly answer what makes XBC so valuable. It seem just like another BTC clone.

Besides the fact that their is a relatively low amount of them and that the devs burned said amount. Other than that... Why trade BTC for XBC?

For some reason I get the feeling devs are building the price up so they can dump at profit. Then the few that bought are left with valueless XBC. I have no evidence, it's just a feeling. I deal with stocks and this is constantly done. Cyrptocurrency is pretty much unregulated market. It's the wild west out here.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / X-11 CPU Mining solution for OSX on: May 03, 2014, 09:46:21 PM
Greetings,

I currently have 20 mac workstations at my disposal and looking to put the CPU power to mine some x-11 DARKCOINs.

After almost 12 hours of net research I have yet been able to find a method to mind x-11 with OSX.

I found a thread on reddit darkcoin that stated the following.

3 are currently available - ig0tik3d (https://github.com/ig0tik3d/darkcoin-cpuminer-1.2c, https://github.com/ig0tik3d/xcoin-cpuminer) and elmads (https://github.com/elmad/darkcoin-cpuminer-1.3-avx-aes),
NOTE: Make sure you go with the 64bit build, and run both options -b and -t 32 for the most efficient least CPU in

I tried all 3 method and was not able to compile non of them. I later found out that Darkcoin is currently only minable by linux and Windows.

Long story short. Is there any x-11 CPU mining support for OSX yet? If there is and I've just been doing it all wrong just let me know >_> or post a link to a binary.

Thank You

I know many people come here with the same line looking to scam. But I'm just looking to get my feet wet with BTC. I know many people trading BTC want to be annon but honestly I don't care. I'm willing to exchange personal information, phone numbers ect if it makes you feel comfortable trading.

Again no gimmicks here. Just want to buy 1BTC in the simplest way possible. PM me if interested.

Thank you,

Don't know but it looks promising. Anyway to get come XBC anymore? I know I'm new so asking for trades will just make me look like scammer... But I am interested in purchasing XBC. PM me if you can help me out.

It shares the same algorithm as Bitcoin. Any reason why all the ASIC miners haven't began to mine this yet? You think once they catch on the price will drop?

54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: *** Complete Guide on How to Create a New Alt Coin *** on: May 03, 2014, 07:25:45 PM
I guess making the coin is step one.

The next step is getting a bunch of mindless fanboys muttering broken sentences to make it popular. That's the hard part my friends.

Quote
The coin is based on a meme, it can't attract intelligent professionals to it.

Don't take this to be anything personal.. But this coming from someone who runs a casino? What "intelligent professional" plays games with his money- Games that are rigged for him to lose a majority of the time? You profit off the unintelligent every day. You see- People don't need to be geniuses to make, and have money. Maybe we have a different understanding of "intelligent" and what role that plays in an economy. (Again, nothing personal, just making an observation, and perhaps a bit of commentary on the ridiculousness of the above quote).

If it attracts the 18-35 crowd- The "intelligent professionals" will quickly take notice. Hell, if it attracts people at first, and converts them all to BTC, and Doge dies.. just as well, right? Unless they are stupid (as in, pay literally zero attention to the risks, and bet more than they can), they've lost very little, and have a better understanding of what they are doing before making large BTC transactions

I just don't get why there's an argument happening at all. Doge has brought thousands of people to crypto, and will continue to. BTC owners should absolutely be thrilled about Dogecoin. Obviously, Doge could never be considered a "threat" to Bitcoin. They aren't after the same market. If you "invest" in Dogecoin- You're probably pretty stupid. It's not designed to inflate. It's designed to be spent- investing a significant amount of money hoping for inflation is silly. Doge will be lucky to ever hit a penny. Bitcoiners should praise Doge as an awesome, inexpensive way to get your feet wet in the digital currency world, and hope that those Dogecoiners eventually "graduate", if you will, and buy some Bitcoin.

If you are too "professional", or too "mature" to have a little fun on the internet (or in life, for that matter), while still pursuing your end goal.. Well, I feel bad for you.

edit: Things like Dark Wallet may bring those "intelligent professionals" to Bitcoin, et al. Darkmarkets,  Drugs, weapons, murder for hire- Now that's an image booster! The exact things that have sown such public mistrust, and skepticism to Bitcoin are now being promoted, and touted as victories. We're begging governments to view Bitcoin, and all digital currency as nothing more than drugs and money laundering.

I just started crypto currency about 6 months ago, having read your post I got to say I agree with you 100%. I am currently mining doge in order to trade up to BTC. Simply because I don't want to make any monetary investments into any crypto just yet.

I think doge will never be taken seriously. I am a stoke broker and I can't imagine trying to get some big fish investors interested on a coin with a dog on it. Now, that being said, I think you made a great point by saying that doge will help BTC by getting rid of the social stigma the bitcoin is being use to promote illicit activities, mainly because that is the reason I did not support crypto currency like BTC when it first started growing years ago.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Poll] Which Doge - Mining pool do you use / like / is the best ? on: May 03, 2014, 12:13:40 AM
Hello, I'm a real beginner when it comes to mining. I'm just using some old overclocked gaming GPUs to mine.

The pool I've been using is dogepool.pw

I was interested in switching to doge poolerino, but every time I would run my miner I would get the stratum timeout over and over making it almost impossible for me to mine with any constancy. Is there a way to fix this to where I could mine on poolerino? It seems that the bigger the pool the more doge potential correct? Or should I just stick with what works?

Thank you.
