41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 17, 2014, 10:34:25 PM
Welcome SYS coin supporters!. SYS now traded on Cryptsy!

Some of the first good news of the day!  Wink
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ʉ Umbrella | The First Insured Cryptocurrencies | Relaunch | Cryptsurance on: July 21, 2014, 11:41:42 AM
Hey Everyone,

(ULTC)

Mined a new genesis block.  New blockchain has been created.  Got new wallets and source code ready to go. Going to wait a couple days and try and get some pools, merged-mined pools and work on the merged-mining paper before launch.

Looking at launching end of next week.

Thanks for the support everyone!  Community is looking strong.

--Robert

Edit:  Added a new pole!

Sounds like a lot of progress has been made. Nice job getting Ʉ Umbrella back on track. I'm looking forward to the new launch, and hopefully some large LTC pools will jump on this.   Smiley

Coin will relaunch next week.  Stop Mining.

I'm impressed. IMO this shows that this is a serious coin.

Best of luck on the relaunch; I'll be keeping an eye on this project. Smiley

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a relaunch. I think this coin has some interesting features that could set it apart. However, a horrible launch can dog a coin forever.

I just got my two fury's working trying a few pools now at dogehouse its getting 33% rejections and running at 2.33MH/s getting lots of HD errors

Which stratum server are you using from them? Looks like they have several. I'd try using this one: stratum+tcp://doberman.dogehouse.org:3336 ( High diff )

The Fury seems to take a dump on Vardif stratum servers that drop the difficulty too low. Seems like anything below 128 seems to make them a bit unstable.
46  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 30, 2014, 05:46:50 PM
I'm running 3 Furies on Windows 7 using the provided cgminer without any issues.  The only difference is that I specified all 3 com ports to check on the command line.

You could try adding "-S COM7 -S COM9" to your cgminer start line and see if that helps.

I also have had no issues using all 3 of them on my zenMiner.  Both ways, I get about 4MH/s out of all 3 combined on clever.  If the pool you are mining on has a low worker difficulty setting, you're going to start getting a lot more stales and rejects than if you try to mine on a pool with a starting worker difficulty of 512 or higher.

I think that I'll try running them together again and see if I can get it working. I also noticed that about the low difficulty issue. Pretty much if the pool starts out low the Fury miners take a dump. The errors I keep getting are "Low difficulty share" and stale until the difficulty ramps up.

Does anyone know how granular the frequency setting is? I know with some ASIC's it's only able to jump 25Mhz at a time, but it doesn't seem like that's the case with these Zeus chips.
47  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 30, 2014, 04:41:39 PM

It seems like you have the right config but that one of your Fury's isn't getting the right amount of power. Can you try a few different power combinations? If this doesn't work, just try the non working device alone. If this doesn't work, the unit may need to be RMA'd. This is handled through gawminers.com and/or orders@gawminers.com.

Ok. I'll go ahead and try them individually and I'll swap the power bricks between the units to see if that makes a difference. Both bricks feel about the same warmth so it seems that both a pulling about the same power. I'll report back in a few minutes.

Thanks for the help.  Grin

EDIT: Ok after playing around with them here is what I've found.

1. Both Fury's can hash just fine by themselves. Well other than the issues with cgminer you guys are working on.

2. The Fury's were originally on COM7 and COM8. I decided to try and run 2 instances of cgminer both pointed at a different COM port. This didn't work; when I'd fire up the COM8 cgminer instance it would kill the COM7 instance (Shares would stop being submitted).

3. After swapping which usb ports they were plugged into I ended up with them being on COM7 and COM9. This time I was able to run 2 instances of cgminer, and other than some extreme fluctuation in hashrate; it seems that it's working now. Pool shows ~2.6MH which is where it should be. EDIT: Seems like it's swinging over 500KH/s on both the pool and the local hashrate reported.  Shocked

So, it looks like there is some kind of software issue when trying to run both off of one cgminer instance. This was on Windows 7; is the same issue going to occur on the ZenMiner? Where it looks like it's hashing correctly, but it's silently only sending one miners work?
48  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 30, 2014, 03:56:23 PM

Hi. Currently, Zeus and GAW Miners are working on a newer firmware/cgminer that should solve some hash rate fluctuation issues. We will also submit this to zenMiner when the testing is done so that your ZenControllers will receive the automatic silent update.

I just wanted to let you all know that we are aware of this and actively working on a solution.

Thanks.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully the firmware / cgminer will be ready soon.

Seems like I'm having another issue now with trying to run two Fury's. On the pool side its been stuck saying 1.3-1.5 for the past 30 min; then when I checked I noticed this earlier:

It looks like the second Fury is hashing, but it doesn't look like cgminer is doing anything with the work it's doing?  Huh

I gave it a bit more time after taking that screenshot, but it looks like it's really only sending one Fury's work.

Edit: here is the bat file I'm using:

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://stratum.rapidhash.net:3333 -u worker.name -p worker_password --nocheck-golden --per-device-stats --chips-count 6 --ltc-clk 328 -S //./COM7 -S //./COM8
pause
49  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 30, 2014, 02:42:20 PM
Are you using a coin switching pool? Try a single coin pool like a litecoin pool and see if it happens there. I have my Fury working at Clever and it's not jumping like yours.

Right now I'm on LTCRabbit to test. I'll try another pure coin pool.

The cgminer released so far is pretty unstable; seems like a lot of weird issues with it.  Shocked
50  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 30, 2014, 02:34:49 PM
Is anyone else having this issue?

This seems to occur pretty regularly. It'll sit there for like 8 seconds chewing on a share; then it either submits it, or it says it's stale and then it moves on.

Seems to be affecting the hashrate on the pools I've tried.
51  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 30, 2014, 02:09:36 PM
Hey GAW, have you guys considered (or are working on) truly making your own hardware using the Innosilicon chips?

this would be GAWesome! with those chips it would be more profitable to mine since they consume less power.

I'd love to see a Generation B Fury with 1-2 of the Innosilicon chips for about the same price.  Grin

I finally got around to playing with my 2 Fury's.

Thoughts:

1. DHL did a security check on the package, and it looks like they opened / tapped it shut. Luckily nothing was missing, and the package arrived within two days of shipping from Hong Kong. So kudos for DHL.

2. The Fury are packaged really nicely in solid white boxes; lots of protecting foam. The fans are unplugged from the Fury inside of the packaging, but it's easy to plug the fan power cable into the Fury.

3. The power supply (Brick type) is the definition of "no-name". There isn't a company listed on either the all white box it came in / on the power supply itself. I wouldn't put much faith in the CE / FCC symbols listed on the bottom. The brick also would get pretty toasty; more then it should be.  Wink

4. The Fury itself feels solid, but light. This makes sense because the board itself that contains the chips is pretty small, and the heatsink appears to be made out of aluminum. The fan seems to be decent quality, and they used 4 bolts / screws to attach the fan to the heatsink. I believe the Blizzard from Zeus only uses 2 screws to hold the fan grill on.

5. I found this to be a little funny / GAW might want to contact the manufacture. The silkscreen on the heatsink that says GAWminers The Fury is upside-down when the miner is sitting on its feet. Looks a bit odd due to this. Doesn't affect anything performance wise, but cheapens the look a bit. Sad

6. The two included USB cables are very flexible and white colored. NOTE: Both USB cables were a really tight to fit in the USB socket's on the Fury miner's. Please be careful when plugging them in; you don't want to snap the port off.

7. The fan on the Fury is quieter then the fan on a GridSeed 5 chip. This is really good news; I was worried about running these in a bedroom.

8. Blue LED's illuminate when the software miner has connected to the Fury, and this lets you know it's hashing.

9. The cgminer that is available seems like it needs some work. I was having some issues with the cgminer sitting on shares for almost 30 seconds, and then dumping it as stale. The number of HW errors and rejects is also pretty high. I'm going to try it on my laptop and the Zenminer eventually.

10. At 328 Freq. I was seeing around ~1.3MH but I can't say for certain due to the cgminer issues I was experiencing. The average hashrate would drop during these issues; I'm going to try another pool.

11. The included power brick is most likely not going to last a year. I remember reading that GAW was offering a one year (looks like it's 6 months now) warranty on all of these miners. I really hope the power brick is included in that warranty. I'm going to place the brick's behind the Fury to try and catch some of the airflow.

12. The Fury itself does get slightly warm on the side of the heatsink. This makes sense seeing how it's dissipating about 40w of power. The good news is that the included fan / heatsink is able to keep it cool.

13. Having issues getting Zenminer to work; was able to setup the miner, but after logging out I couldn't log back in. In contact with Zenminer trying to fix this.

TLDR:Fury looks nice, includes everything you need to hash, power brick gets toasty hot, ~1.3MH, cgminer is a bit wonky on the computer I tried it on. I'll try it on my laptop and let you guys know if there's a difference in performance. Also, GAW did everything they said they'd do and the product is hashing faster then advertised. I just wish the power brick was better quality. Maybe in future shipments they might want to change it out; reduce warranty issues.  Cool

Anyone else getting weird output from their miner under windows?  I just set my up and I see this:
(5s):28.69M (avg):28.81Mh/s | A:115 | R:0 | HW:10 | U: 2.5/m WU: 1331.6/m

The pool is saying this:

Your current Hashrate: 1004 kH/s

How long have you left it running? I know that a lot of pools need between 30min - several hours before the listed hashrate is close to accurate.

Looks like registrations are back up. I'll be able to try it out in a few hours.  Grin

My Fury ran great all night and is rolling along at 1.56Mh using ipoMiner. I was getting lots of stale shares last night so I increased share difficulty to 256. That seems to have helped.

1.56MH is really nice for the Fury unit. What frequency are you running it at, and what is your ratio of hardware error / accepted shares?

Edit: Also, is this with or without the Zenminer?
56  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ZenMiner (unmoderated) service discussion thread on: May 29, 2014, 12:23:11 PM
Sorry for the delay! Here is the proposed timeline for the zenMiner site to be fully operational.

The following times listed are in Eastern time for May 29th, 2014:

12:01 AM: Last minute fixes in registration to support the increase in traffic.
3:00 AM: Database management and improved design for scaling laterally.
7:00 AM: QA testing and UI updates.
11:00 AM: Begin accepting new user registration while continuing to improve customer experience and UI enhancements.

I will be providing further updates as we get near the final deadline. Thank you all for (still) being patient.

It seems like has been a bit of a rough launch; which is a bit disappointing seeing how it's the only way to update the firmware on the Generation A GAWminers.

However, thank you though for keeping us updated and for posting the timeline. It makes it a lot more bearable knowing what is going on behind the scenes, and it sounds like you guys have a solid plan on getting the train back on the tracks.  Cheesy

Linked is the source, some config examples, and binaries for Windows and Raspberry Pi.

https://gawminers.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202184744-cgminer-source-and-config

I see that they added the source code. Awesome.  Grin

I wonder why though the manufacture / developer of that fork of cgminer started with such an old version?

Looks like DHL updated the status: With delivery courier - Looks like they're coming today; as long as I don't miss the delivery. I'm glad that GAW went with express delivery.  Grin
58  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 28, 2014, 12:15:18 PM
zenminer is up and accepting registrations.

Looks like they're still trying to get SSL working. I'm not sure why they would go live without this being setup properly.  Sad

You can manually go to https://zenminer.com However, the signup page is broken when using SSL.

I'll hold off to sign up till they fix this.

Edit: Looks like the issue is due to them calling jquery over http instead of https. Same issue with the font they're using from Google.

Is there any contact information for Zenminer? I can't seem to locate an email address other than the developer's who registered the domain name.  Undecided
59  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 28, 2014, 07:34:24 AM
Here is the open software link: https://gawminers.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202395200-cgminer-binary-and-config

Please be advised, if you overwrite your ZenController, you will not longer have support for that device. Thaks!

Thanks for posting these. One minor thing though; it seems that it's missing the source code and a copy of the license which is required to comply with the cgminer licensing (GPL). Just giving you guys a quick heads up.  Wink That is unless I'm blind and missed them.  Cheesy

It'll also be interesting to see how quickly other mining software developers add support.

Quick question. Will it only be possible to update the firmware on the miners through ZenMiner or will you also be releasing a standalone updater?
60  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 27, 2014, 02:29:30 PM
I've been a customer for awhile and have posted a positive "review" of GAW before but I thought I'd toss up something else. I'm still a bit noobish here at bitcointalk but I'm pretty active so hopefully I won't be accused of being Josh. If that does happen I want the accuser to find the keys to my Ferrari because I misplaced them.

Anyway, like others I've had to use the support system with my Blades many times because they are finicky beasts. I have one next to me to prove that and the GAW hosted Blades are actually more stable which is pretty nice. In any even, Joe, Luke and Jeff have been pretty good at getting things resolved and while they are not as fast as I'd like sometimes it always gets done. On the fast part that is partly my fault because I set the bar so high I expect immediate results! Lol, you know what I mean when you discover you've been losing hash for like an hour and you start sweating... Usually a good time for a beer.

Josh and I have had a back-and-forth also but he's been pretty straight with me and when he says he will do something he comes through. For example, I snagged a late hosted Black Widow that looks like it wasn't supposed to be up on their site but was there... I bought it just the other day! He could have said sorry, that was a glitch lets work something out next week or week three. He didn't. He got the Widow hooked up and it's hashing away (12.9something average MHs.)

I don't feel like I'm being scammed. I feel like I'm getting what I paid for. I will buy from them again.

Haha, love it....I wonder how we would do if we gave away a free car with every miner Smiley

You'd be the Oprah of ASIC distributors. You get a car! And you get a car! . . .  Grin

Looks like the DHL express shipping really is express. Last update had the package in Ohio. Should be here in about a day hopefully. Thanks for the free upgraded shipping.  Smiley
