Still haven't put in 2nd new psu thou

Where did you buy it from and what is the ETA?
I hope you bought it from a legit place and didn't pay in crypto. There are more scam sites then legit sites.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on a Gigabyte UD5? on: April 23, 2021, 02:28:26 PM
Hi again, I have more questions and issues.

I have since got 2 more 3070s so now at 3x 3070 and 1x 1070. Using 2x 750w PSU
For last few days I have been running 1070 then 3070 then 3070, the 1070 does the output to monitor.
Thats been working fine can always see all cards.

So the last one came today, plugged it in and boot up can only see the 1070 no other cards.
Spent hours trying almost all combos even in the smaller ports (wont even post if I try and use either of them) none of them worked.
Ive ended up getting 3x 3070s running (TPD 540-550w when mining)but can not get a forth gpu to show up if any more then 1 show up when 4 plugged in its 2 gpus and the other 2 I can feel getting hot.
Everything has power but they just dont show up, I am using driver version 469.89 and MSI afterburner.
One PSU doing mobo, 2 risers, ssd, 1070 and a 3070 (fan doesnt even turn on) the other PSU just doing 2x 3070s +2 risers (TDP is only going to 280w on idle)
Is there a bois setting I need to change ?

I have also spent hours trying to figure out how to overclock and stuff in command line for Phoenix but cant seem to get most commands to work.
I tried -cclock 1:192,2-3:-456 -mclock 1:387,2-3:1407 -powlim 1:60,2-3:50 also tried some fan stuff but ya couldn't seem to get anything to work except for some temp or fan stuff.
Im guessing there is something Im not understanding. Is this a permission issue? If i run as admin it doesn't work

I see people saying use HiveOs. I looked at site but Im unsure. Can I have 1 rig for free? Should I try this considering I cant figure out -mcdag 1 or how to auto restart stuff?

Edit: Oh I should add I am using MSI afterburner to see cards since I need that to do the OC and undervolt. Ended up getting the 2x RM750 since on sale for $150 each.

44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Helium hotspot miner in India. on: April 22, 2021, 04:42:41 PM
This is also the same reason why I haven't buy this miner yet, if I have to buy this miner it's going to be two sets and give one to a cousin of mine living miles away from me and start making money together this way, it's one let down for this miner since you can't buy one and mine alone unless other miners are nearby, it sucks

So if I buy two hotspots for my place (there are no other hotspots in my entire country), will that work? If not then how many at least I have to buy to make things going.
Thanks for you knowledgeable contribution.
If your place is large enough to have them spaced apart 300m then yes. They both need power too. It is radio miner so needs large distance. Read my post before It says most of what I know.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Helium hotspot miner in India. on: April 22, 2021, 09:17:10 AM
From what i know you need to have them spaced 300m apart for them to talk to each other and make money. They can only make money if others are in 10km (i think) range. The need to either be witnessed or witness another miner finding stuff.
I was interested too but live in Australia and nothing much around here so doubt it would make any money. Also I think only 2 companies selling them, which is strange. Other people have said its expensive for what it is too.
As for profits I have tried asking will the rate change long term, or if more miners come on network etc but have never gotten any answers.

I watch your utube channel a bit and seen the video, then seen post here.
Im in Australia would this even work here. I can see 3 on the map but no earning?
Can you explain how it earns so much, What is radio mining?
How you get paid for it? ie currency or crypto?
Does this get paid to you or is it stuck on the network?
What are the future earning like? Is it just high now to get people to buy stuff then they will lower profits?

Also person post before me map changing almost daily as they just started rolling them out I think.

Thanks
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 6800 improvements on: April 18, 2021, 04:50:23 PM
Hi, I am thinking of flashing BIOS to use less power when mining but unsure if this is a good idea.
I use pc for gaming sometimes will this cause issues? Tried googling for video on how to do it but no luck
So far I have downloaded GPU-Z. I see I have Samsung memory which is good?
Card is Sapphire Nitro 6800 XT SE

Currently running 1503 core, 2130 mem, 980mv but it says 881mv, 172w, 54-55c
Get 64mh/s average speed, pool speed can vary from 55-67mh/s thou

Normally mine at least 18hrs a day on this pc and powers very expensive here so if I can get 45w less power use might be worth it.
From reading through RED BIOS EDITOR guide I would have to restart my pc each time I want to swap is this correct?
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: April 17, 2021, 04:14:00 PM
Hi, Im still new to mining and trying to figure stuff out as I go.
Anyway I have 3 issues atm

1. Recently one machine just closes randomly, its ran for over 100hrs no problems but now it seems to lose stratum randomly.
Machine has 3070 and 1070 in it atm. I just changed to the SSL port on pool, no clue if this will help.
Is there any way to solve this? Which leads to issue 2 below trying to make a restart for miner.

2. I am trying to OC a 3070 and 1070 by command line in a .bat so I can use -mcdag 1 for Phoenixminer, How do I go about writing it for each GPU?
-mcdag 1
-GPU1 -powlim 50 -cclock -456 -mclock +1407
-GPU2 -powlim 60 -cclock +203 -mclock +263
Would this work? Not sure if I should just try it. Eidt: Oh I just realised Im not sure how to set the fans either Sad

3. Finally last issue is 6800xt im using newer drivers 21.3.2 and have to use -clkernel 0
I get message "Unknown OpenCL driver version! OpenCL platform: OpenCL 2.1 AMD-APP"
Phoenixminer tells me I get 20%ish stale shares but still get 60-70mh/s over time,
when I check my pool website it says normally 3% max is 5%.
Is this actually an issue also considering Im in Australia and pool is in Asia. Get 160ms share returns.
If i did downgrade to say 21.1.1 would this even make any difference?

Thank you to anyone who can help me with any of this.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Miners cheat with stale shares? on: April 15, 2021, 03:42:59 PM
Im still new to mining and only got basic stuff atm but Ive been trying to figure out stale shares for ages....
I hope I not doing anything wrong.

With Phoenix Miner and 6800xt on Ethermine it says I get 18-20% stale shares on the miner but when I check the logs on website its always way less like maybe 3% or lower.
I just use clkernel 0 since thats all I can get to work. Is this something I can fix?

On my other PC I have 3070 and 1070 Phoenix miner almost never reports any stales (maybe less then 1%), logs on website maybe show 1-2% normally.
I got 2 more 3070s coming one day.

Also Ive tried a few pools with the 6800xt but most of them are worse, Im in Australia so theres really no good ping servers.
Ethermine asia thou I get 160ms share returns so I just have to put up with that. us1, us2 same most of time but at times got 600ms returns so just stick with asia now.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Completely new to mining and wants to learn on: April 08, 2021, 06:17:25 AM
Just want to add if he was spending 40k like months ago when gpus where cheaper it would be much less risk.
Now however you will get a lot less for the money. Where I live I pay us$0.28c per kw so mining for me barely makes any money.
I also have solar panels which helps lower it slightly. Tbh the power company making just as much as me from it.....
I recently just dropped almost 6k on 3x 3070 and 1x 1070 to run 24/7 and 6800xt in main rig running 50% of time.
The 2 gpus I ordered last week already gone up again.
Im using all hardware I already had, the only thing extra Im buying is larger PSU, 4x risers and a wire shelf unit to cable tie stuff into.

Really all im looking at doing is getting the hardware for free over a year as I was looking to invest the same amount buying BTC and ETH, instead im just mining it.
Also I see it as diversifying (don't like all my savings sitting in a bank account at this point).
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on a Gigabyte UD5? on: April 08, 2021, 05:06:21 AM
Hi again, I think I would prefer to just use 1 psu if possible.
I want to use as little power as possible since us$0.28c per kw = aud$0.36c
My mate IRL is telling me to get Platinum since it would be more efficient.
Considering Corsair HX1200 for $420 delivered otherwise maybe this one for like $360 or so delivered https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/power-supplies/atx/86920-sst-st1200-pts?gclid=Cj0KCQjwsLWDBhCmARIsAPSL3_0Nx42LTKBNU2AuCaolbcfy8CZr5I7QOSf-HNgrBAi9cHQrbomxShQaAnc1EALw_wcB
Even with those I should be able to run 4x 3070s if I was to replace the 1070 at some point?

I managed to order 2x Gigabyte Aorus 3070 just before they went up in price again.
Hopefully both will be here next week, had to buy from 2 different shops since they only allow 1 per household.

The risers came today, Im still unsure what power plug to use it had 3 in total? Do I just use 6pin or just molex? Or can I use both? What is the 2nd 6pin for?
Im going to try googling for a guide later sometime.

Ty again

Edit: The PSU prices in in Aud$ not Usd$ , Also the Corsair had 10yr warranty, Silverstone 5yrs.
Just spent ages again looking at options, they don't make TX option for Australian market. Only HX or RM
So basically my options are really
1) 2x Corsair RM750 for $169 + $15 postage = $353
2) 2x Corsair RM850 for $195 + $26 postage = $416
3) 1x Corsair HX1200 for $420 delivered

So realistically the HX1200 isnt worth it unless it somehow make me use less power. I can see the 2 psu would increase Amp ratings quite a bit too
So Im looking at ordering either RM750 or RM850 not sure which yet.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on a Gigabyte UD5? on: April 04, 2021, 04:55:09 AM
Ya I was going to preorder 2x 3070 for aud$1200 but they just went up to $1700 the other day  Embarrassed
I could buy 2x 3070 Gigabyte Aorus for aud$1500 each, in stock atm.
Can claim 4yr warranty on them since I would get within 30days of payment.
Really dont want to pay more then au$1300 for gpu thou.
My power cost is us$0.28 per kw (highest in world for over 18yrs here) and thats the cheapest I can get it also,
only reason I can make any profits is because I have solar some of the time, looking into 2 small cylinder turbines too.

With the PSU would a 1300watt be enough to run 3x 3070 and a 1070? or should I look at 1500w?

I found these 2 from decent brands

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give (cant even post on reddit yet lol but you have been very helpful)
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on a Gigabyte UD5? on: April 03, 2021, 12:17:23 PM
Everything is going well with the 3070 and 1070, had it running over 20hrs straight, runs 90mh/s.
I ordered a thing to measure power from wall but its going to take a long time to come.
Same with some risers will take a while probably a month maybe more. 3070 runs at 57c, 1070 runs at 55c.

Im also using a 6800xt in my main rig for gaming and mining but I having issues with it getting power dips that cripple the hashrates.
Currently I can only get it to work with clKernel 0 which results in normally 16-20% stale shares.
Is there anyway to stop this? Tried googling it for ages.

Also getting less fps in GTA 5 in 1440p then the 1070 was.
Ive even tried using MSI afterburner with it but that just uses amd software manual mode so same as me setting it in the driver Sad
Not sure whats going on Dirt Rally 2 I can see an improvement, still downloading Doom 2016 to try.

Update: Well i feel a bit silly but I guess its easy to do
Ended up using DDU and found 3x r9 200 series stuff still and 1070 stuff too so just removed everything including 6800xt stuff.
Reinstalled drivers and now its working perfectly, holds 155fps with max everything 1440p.
Even upsampling 2.5x solid 155 still crazy (it didnt like that much thou ramped fans up heaps)
Now im happy with my card even thou it was a bit pricey.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on a Gigabyte UD5? on: April 01, 2021, 04:45:43 PM
Awesome thank you for reply

Oh sorry I did not realise there was so many other UD5s otherwise I would of been more specific
This one here https://www.gigabyte.com/au/Motherboard/GA-X58A-UD5-rev-20#ov

I just finished installing windows 10 and waiting for drivers to install.
If i got another 3070 it would be fine? might need better PSU using 11yr old corsair hx750

Edit: update, got it oc now and running at 27.3mh/s 56c 50%fan and 118watts cant wait to add the 3070
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining on a Gigabyte UD5? on: April 01, 2021, 02:51:25 PM
Hi I have a few questions if it is okay to ask here thanks.

1) I just upgraded my gpu and have a spare 1070 as well as getting a 3070 tomorrow.
Anyway I have been trying to setup the 1070 in a Gigabyte UD5 motherboard with a i7-950, 8gb ddr3 2400mhz (I can put in 6gb more but its 2000mhz).
Ideally I want to run both the 3070 and 1070 in the same computer mining 24/7. Is this even possible with those spec?
I seem to only get 18mh/s and the system just lags up like crazy. In my Ryzen pc is was doing constant 26mh/s never dipped like my new 6800xt.
Also using windows 7 on the i7 is it worth trying windows 10?

2) Should I be looking at buying a 6 slot pcie board? If so what would you recommend including cpu ram? Im located in Australia so might be limited on selection.

3) The other thing I am unsure of is risers. I seen this one on ebay but what are the extra power connectors on the side? I understand it needs 1x6pin.

Thanks for any info you can give.
