41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 02, 2014, 05:57:57 PM
I was wondering: how can you make a transaction to someone, without getting him to know your account balance?

For example, if I take a random transaction: http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=2000&tra=15605582137631492127. We see that the person transferred 12 NXT. Image he or she transferred it to a shop. The shop can easily trace this transaction in the blockchain to find out he has 48,040 NXT in his account. The shop knows his or her name and can now start to track the account of this person. Not really something I would like Amazon to know.

So how to hide your account balance? Could the "Decentralized Mixing Service" help us out here? I'm curious Smiley.

Need some help in understanding the basics of NXT.

I thought that transparent mining would greatly decrease transaction time. However, average transactions of for example 100 NXT with 1 NXT fee take a few hours. To me this is slow and not VISA speed at all. Could someone clarify why the transaction time is a few hours?
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoind + Blockchain = no response from server on: May 09, 2013, 10:57:41 AM
Please try rpc.blockchain.info as the host.
Thanks, that works! You're awesome!

Would like some help with connecting Bitcoind.exe to Blockchain.info.

I'm trying to integrate bitcoin into my webshop, while my hot wallet is hosted by Blockchain.info. One basic thing goes wrong: I can't connect to blockchain.info with Bitcoind. I used "bitcoind getinfo" while having a bitcoin.conf with:
rpcconnect=blockchain.info
rpcport=80
rpcssl=0
rpcuser=mylogincode
rpcpassword=my password
which is copied more or less from the Blockchain api. Result is: error: no response from server.

What is going wrong? Is it a problem that I have in my bitcoin user folder (for win7: users\$user\roaming\bitcoin) my personal wallet?
45  Economy / Marketplace / Re: bitmarket.eu verification on: August 01, 2011, 07:49:50 PM
My experience is that the verification never happens. The site admin replied on this forum and via an e-mail, but after that never responded nor verified my account. I gave up waiting after 12 days. If you ask me, a verification system like this is flawed. You get only a few customers, thus few trades.

Good trading sites in euro's will pop up, it's just a matter of time Smiley.
46  Economy / Goods / Re: Anything on Amazon.com for bitcoins on: July 17, 2011, 05:33:11 PM
Sites like Amazon and Newegg have affiliate programs which offer a certain percentage of the sales that come through the affiliate's links. By using the spendbitcoins links, part of your purchase amount goes to them, which likely would greatly make up for any decrease in value through exchanges and any transaction fees.
Aha, that sounds very likely. Interesting service which gives Bitcoins a huge potential boost.

How do spendbitcoins.com earn their money? Why is it interesting for them?
48  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: BitMarket.eu - Password too long on: July 16, 2011, 10:00:22 AM
Normally passwords are too short Cheesy.

Thing is, Bitmarket.eu is currently the only marketplace where you can sell your Bitcoins for euros without an addtional charge. Your next battle is to get accepted as a trader. Good luck!
What about Intersango?
Good that you mention it. Where bitmarket.eu is an escrow service, Intersango is an exchange. The advantage of an exchange is that you don't need to get "accepted" as a trader, but you do have to pay the additional charge: "Receiving a SEPA transfer will cost 5 PLN (1.27 EUR)." In Europe we miss a service like Dwolla which only charges $0,25 for wiring money. I also found an overview or charges of different services, maybe it will help someone.

So thanks for the tip Smiley, but with Intersange you pay quite a big additional charge.

50  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitMarket.Eu - now supports: Dwolla, Moneybookers; new currencies: ZAR, CAD! on: July 14, 2011, 05:42:43 PM
On a completely seperate note (sorry for the offtopic) - is there a specific reason why so many exchanges are programmed by Polish? Intersange has some Polish programmers, as well as Bitomat or bitmarket. Are Bitcoins already known in the Polish market for a longer time (i.e. media coverage started earlier) or is it just by chance?
Noticed the program skills as well with a game from a Polish studio Smiley.

Hi,

Sorry, I meant to get back to you after I got your message, but something happened in the meantime and I forgot to finish that email. Apologies for that!

I have written you back now, please check your email whenever you get a chance.
Thanks, mail has been sent. Edit: nevermind, I give up waiting for a response, 12 days is enough. Good luck trading though.

Is it true that Bitmarket.EU doesn't accept new traders?

I didn't get any response after asking three times to get my account verified and I'm hearing stories of not accepting traders. Has anyone got some info?
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why store Bitcoins remotely? on: July 08, 2011, 08:14:34 PM
Was thinking about a secure low cost way store my wallet. Backuping doesn't protect it at all. Encryption seems to much of a hassle, so storing them remotely seems like a plan. But how to do that in a convenient way...?
53  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is GPU2 so much hotter than GPU1? on: July 08, 2011, 08:06:46 PM
It could be the location of the temp sensor and the precision of the sensor that could cause what you see.

How long does it take for the payment to get processed?

I'm thinking of using this in a shop. You need payment processing in less than 3 seconds.
56  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: July 08, 2011, 09:11:52 AM
yes and no, i don't disagree there needs to be some sort of restriction, but I've been reading the forums without registering for ages, finally decided i had some thing constructive to say, which will now be obsolete by the time i get there.

Maybe another way to be able to post without the full wait times would be by "verification" or sponsorship from an existing member
Same for me. Read a lot, wanted to reply and found the restriction. Ah well, I guess banning trollers took to much time.
