41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mark Karples deletes tweets from Jun 25 - July 7. Can they be recovered? on: July 21, 2014, 08:50:05 AM
does it seem odd to anyone else that mtgox still has not made any public accounting of the lost BTC?
fuck this thief.

Yup... the strangest thing for me is that there's no information. That is, it hasn't even been confirmed or even speculated by Mark that the coins have been stolen. All he's said is that coins are missing. He hasn't even said he lost the private keys or lost the harddrive or forgot a password or his servers were hacked or someone took the coins out of his address. He's just been extremely vague.

Mobile ATM? it doesn't sound save. Are there any feedbacks?

It's a nice idea, and I think it has a role to play, but be warned for U.S. customers you are still subject to KYC/AML laws and a retailer would most likely need to apply for money exchange licenses at both the state and federal level, same as with any bitcoin ATM.

The idea is that if you are in a retail location with existing staff, then why buy a $30,000 ATM machine in order to get buy/sell capability. Instead, purchase the exchange enabled Coinkite terminal for less than $1000, and then it's simply a matter of training.

It's essentially allows for bitcoin sales from a storefront as opposed to an ATM. The Coinkite terminal has features to pull down live exchange rates, let you pre-program fees or markups, and buy/sell BTC as needed.

48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you sponsor an athlete with your Bitcoin? on: July 14, 2014, 07:34:31 AM
I was watching Camozzi's fight live (on TV). At no point was the QR code scannable, wearing a QR code on clothing that shifts around and will never be camera-focused isn't a good match.
Athletes also make big money for being talented. I don't think they need a couple dozen five-cent tips

51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardbit hardware wallet? on: July 13, 2014, 01:04:52 PM
I will be returning this device because I need a device that fulfills the following requirements:

1) I have control of the private keys not a third party
2) If something were to happen to my private keys outside of the hardbit device then I can export the keys within the device to my computer in a format that can be loaded into any other bitcoin wallet.
3) USB is used to transmit data to the device to allow for the device to receive private keys generated outside of the device. If those keys are lost usb is used to send private keys within the device to an application running on my computer such as blockchain.info. USB is used to receive payment requests and it is used to send sign transactions to a wallet software such as blockchain.info.

If the above is your expectation also then DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT.

I've been there - they have the largest collection of coins in the world. Well worth seeing.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Places in Greece which accept BTC on: July 13, 2014, 12:52:00 PM
I'm Greek and nobody here has heard of it, apart from a few university students I know - and they all treated it like shares. Buy low, sell high, make fiat profit. I recently travelled up to Bucharest, Romania on a university orgnaised trip. The small circle of people I interacted with during my 4 days there also showed me the same situation. People either treat it as a joke, a fad or they're completely oblivious of it. If they actually use Bitcoin they do it in hopes they get €€€ by selling BTC.
