41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 05, 2014, 09:07:53 PM
coin forked -> community told not to transfer until wallet updated to ask senders to resend -> no wallet updated -> coins stolen

FTFY

Eh? the coin forked on v8, and the front page of this thread still says v8. Is there some other channel I am unaware of?

Aha, you are alive.

Well that is something.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 05, 2014, 09:04:19 PM
From my perspective, the chain of events went like this:

coin forked -> community told not to transfer until wallet updated -> no wallet update -> coins stolen

Hard not to be a bit pissed...

Well aware that I may be a bit irrational at the moment, but it is hard not to be frustrated.

As to FUD - no! I just bought a load of coins, if anything I was hoping to hodl and ride a future price rise!
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 05, 2014, 08:52:11 PM
Well this really sucks.

Had just brought 500k Qora and was in the process of withdrawing which failed.

Also unable to withdraw my remaining BTC.

If there is any chance of getting the DB to Poloniex so they can do the community a huge favour and mitigate this, that would be fantastic.

Sucks for Qora too, as my confidence in the coin is certainly shaken. Unlikely to ever reinvest if I lose it all.

It is odd that both the dev and zip have disappeared simultaneously though!
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHARE]ShareCoin - Pure POS - The only coin backed up by a real bussiness on: June 04, 2014, 07:48:45 PM
Getting anxious now, could really do with a reply from the dev :/
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] ShareXcoin.com - Sharing its revenue to the community on: June 04, 2014, 07:16:44 PM
This is really frustating.

Had just purchased some Qora, but was unable to withdraw. Also have a small amount of BTC on there.

Looking more & more likely like this is a scam.
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple Approves Bitcoin Wallets on: June 04, 2014, 07:15:28 PM
Have any apps actually been approved following this chance which support bitcoin? The wording of the new terms is a bit vague, so the proof is in the pudding I guess.

Does sgminer not work with the pools?

I have it setup and running as per instructions, but the pool site doesn't register the worker as doing anything?

How do you know if you are on a fork?
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Overclockers.co.uk accepting bitcoin. on: June 03, 2014, 08:27:43 PM
I've used overclockers regularly for years.

This is the first merchant announcing bitcoin acceptance that I have actually thought I will get some utility out of.

Thanks OCuK!
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 30, 2014, 03:14:22 PM
Support the NXT community by driving up the price through HODLing. We're almost #3.  Grin

wth is "HODling"?

The same as HOLding  Wink

Ah, we just spell it wrong for fun?

It's a running gag from a typo back near the beginning of NXT Bitcoin.

+1 for NEM Smiley
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] NEMstake tokens are listed on Nxt asset exchange on: May 30, 2014, 02:56:40 PM
Just to be sure i understand well.

I need to create a NXT wallet and send my address to utopianfutur?

Yes, if you are a confirmed stake holder.

Else you need to buy one like the rest of us :p
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] NEMstake tokens are listed on Nxt asset exchange on: May 30, 2014, 02:24:29 PM
Well, officially have my share now. Feels good.

Here's hoping the future is rosy!
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEM] NEMstake tokens are listed on Nxt asset exchange on: May 30, 2014, 01:54:09 PM
If nothing else, this is fun to watch.

It's really proving the utility of the AE as well. It's working pretty much flawlessly so far.

56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: May 29, 2014, 10:10:44 PM
Figured I should post in this thread just in case I can look back on it and smile in a few years time.

Currently at just over 5 BTC, not worth a great deal today - here's hoping for tomorrow!
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Millionaires on: May 28, 2014, 06:44:23 PM
Would love for a few people to post their stories, even if anonymously. I think it would make for a fascinating read. Specifically, I would be curious to know:

  • When did you first hear about Bitcoin and acquire your first coins?
  • Did you buy or mine?
  • How did you resist selling once you had seen your first 10, 100, 1000x gain?
  • When did you realise you were going to be super wealthy?
  • What do you plan to do with your fortune?
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Definitive proof that Satoshi Nakamoto is James A. Donald. on: May 28, 2014, 06:35:49 PM
Even if the timestamps are accurate, that question almost appears planted to give the opportunity to lend further credence to the idea in the form of "dialogue".

Still, it's all redundant if J Donald is another alias.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinnext.com - Cryptocurrency Exchange - Trade Alt Coins on: May 26, 2014, 04:48:21 PM
Looks decent - will give it a go
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just read The Willy Report - Are we still being affected? on: May 26, 2014, 01:08:31 PM
$115million is not even 5% out of 7billion, which is Bitcoin's market cap..

Market cap is a theoretical calculation to determine monetary base. Comparing that $115 million figure to market cap is irrelevant, comparing it to the float is what means something, and the float is probably well lower than $1 billion, if not lower than $500 million.

What is a "float" and how does a person figure it out?

Bitcoin available for trading.
