Can't expect the winner of a war to return all the stolen wealth and goods.

Since when can the loser make demand of anything?
42  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is there so many conspiracy junkies here? on: August 22, 2014, 05:19:31 AM
Because some people have too much time on hand.

Those conspiracy theory actually provides good reading and keep people content rather than paying attention to most recent events.

I'm not sure how anyone can still hold this attitude.

Long before the snowden revelations, people who said that US agencies spy on everyone and collect data ignoring all laws have been ridiculed and called conspiracy freaks.

I do believe that the US government is behind ISIS, al qaeda, and other groups which they use for false flag operations and to justify tyrannical laws and military actions.

Using fear to manipulate the population is nothing new and have been used many times during our history.

Doesn't matter if all the allegation is true or not, it is pointless to go against the tide and not played by the rules.

Beside, Snowden might be getting false information on the level of competency of the intelligence community. If the intelligence is that good, we wouldn't have this much problem in the world now.

Take a time machine back to 1995 and ask the same question about the Internet. There's your answer  Cheesy

Comparing internet and bitcoin is getting old.

You can own bitcoin but not internet. And a lot of internet dotcom companies went bust.
44  Other / Politics & Society / Re: TX Governor Rick Perry Turns Himself In on: August 21, 2014, 08:28:00 AM
Meanwhile the Governor of NY is twiddling his thumbs while his administrators propose rules on Bitcoin that criminalize behavior of people dealing with Bitcoin if they don't submit to the rules of NY, even though they be located halfway around the world or in another state.

NY can prosecute people halfway around the world? Has this actually happen yet?

The regulations have not gone into effect yet.  But given the total absolute craziness of what NY is doing here, and the fact that Rick Perry and Texas have explicitly said "No Regulation for Bitcoin" the contrast is so striking that I can't but bring up these comparison facts.

http://techcrunch.com/2014/07/21/new-york-to-bitcoin-startups-get-permission-or-get-out/

So what exactly do the BitLicense regulations cover? Here are some of our (least) favorite things that they would require small startups to do:

Submit fingerprints of all founders (and employees) to the FBI and disclose personal financial information of founders and officers to NY State.
Require them to hold an undetermined amount of U.S. dollar funds in bonds or trusts. Startups will not be able to predict the bonding or capitalization requirements until after they apply, making it difficult to project expenses or raise money.
Conduct expensive audits and security testing that no small startup could afford.
Hand over any untouched user assets to NY State after five years as “abandoned property.”

Worse, the regulations would require every bitcoin and virtual currency-related startup to get permission from NY state before releasing any new product or service. So yes, if I have a bitcoin technology startup and I want to start selling T-shirts, I would have to get the permission of the state of New York

Does this mean we can start bitcoin business in Texas without having to comply to NY bitlicense?
45  Economy / Economics / Re: [Flash Report] Bitcoin Starting To Look Better on: August 21, 2014, 08:19:50 AM
Every time bitcoin run into trouble and manage to survive, that will put even more faith into those who hold bitcoin for long term.

With enough core supporters to support the price and infrastructure, more casual users will join knowing there will always be someone to support bitcoin regardless of what happen.
46  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think there's any future in Bitcoin? on: August 20, 2014, 11:50:20 AM
Public confidence in it has been dropping after the whole Mt Gox thing. On top of that, you have people investing in other bitcoin alternatives without the same success that bitcoin had.
MtGox happened quite a long time ago, which has nothing to do with the collapse of the price this time.

The case is still on going.

An average consumer will want to know how the law will protect them in this kind of situation.

48  Other / Politics & Society / Re: American Health care: $10,169 for a blood test? on: August 19, 2014, 05:57:37 AM
I think it's more along the lines of specific blood tests, I had a blood test earlier this year and it cost $8000, but it was looking for a specific rare disease that thankfully, I didn't have, but insurance did cover it.

Sound more like the insurance industry is colluding with the medical industry to overcharge your company for insurance coverage. Ultimately, it is you who have to pay the cost in term of lower salary and benefit.
49  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I wrong to think Bitcoin whales should be ashamed of themselves? on: August 19, 2014, 05:53:43 AM
The hoarding behavior from whale are the reason bitcoin can go up in price. If no one is selling, then only high price and draw them out and bring additional supply.

If Govt has a lot of BTC, they can cause volatility and keep people out.

Volatility will keep another group of people in. Speculator and trader.

Decentralise Government

Gov 2.0, Dentralised

any others?

The number is too few and too fragmented across the globe to win any election.
52  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World War III on: August 17, 2014, 09:14:39 AM
The only chance of World War III would have to be around the middle east conflicts. I doubt this incident will rise, it'll be nothing in a month or two.

I agree, and highly doubt that theres a chance for a WW3 in the near future.
Most of the great forces are fighting remote wars, fighting not directly, but rather using other countrys as puppets.

It would be futile to start a direct war between any of the bigger forces, since they would eliminate each other in no time.

Exactly.

US is trying to bluff Russia using Georgia and Ukraine as a front men. Russia called the bluff and attack them without suffering any consequences from US retaliation.

The rest of Russia neighbors should know by now not to be depended on US and should be go on friendly term with Russia for their own survivor.

There are accusation of the exchanges trading against their customers and manipulate the derivative price.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 17, 2014, 09:04:29 AM
Problem is there are a lot of miners have pre-order ASIC miner that deliver a few months down the road.

They will need to sell at whatever price to recoup part of their investment.

That's a common fallacy that people bought into 3-4 years ago with Bitcoin. People don't mine for the price today. They mine for the price 5 years from now.

Then wouldn't they be best just buying the coinage rather then the equipment  Grin

If they buy their equipment now and there is a bubble a few months from now, that equipment might be wildly profitable and in demand.

I think that's what miners are hoping for.

Wouldn't it be easier to use the same money to buy coin directly if they are expecting a bubble?
55  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advice for new users regarding CLOUD MINING on: August 16, 2014, 04:51:43 AM
I posted this in the ZenMiner thread, but it seems important to note the following issues with GAW/ZenMiner here as well:

1) Total lack of any real mining from ZenMiner Cloud, as confirmed by more than 50% of the pools ZenMiner Cloud claims to allow miners to select. No increase in hashrate, workers, etc. from ZenMiner Cloud, nor "affiliation" or "private stratums" that Eric/Josh have claimed in the past, as commented on by at least four of the ZenMiner Cloud user-selectable pools.

2) No documented evidence of physical miners or an actual datacenter presence, as much as you guys like to post photo/video propaganda of Josh being the "scrypt king" -- just seems odd you won't post any kind of proof.

3) Extremely heavy handed moderation on HashTalk of any discussion of these issues or any other question/topic that you dislike.

4) Increasingly large delays in shipping orders both from GAW and ZenMiner.

5) Decreasing amount of non-ZenMiner Cloud hardware available for purchase at GAW (and increasing prices on the few items that are available).

6) "Interest" on ZenMiner Cloud held-bitcoin -- seems an awful lot like a ponzi scheme.

7) Discontinuation of "founders club" benefits like the promised upgrade paths, free hosting for life, etc. without any announcement or discussion possible - again due to heavy handed moderation on HashTalk, and refusal of customer service representatives to address the issue.

Good points here.

Since scrypt mining has negative ROI. They might as well take your money and pay you back a smaller portion of it every month.
56  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advice for new users regarding CLOUD MINING on: August 15, 2014, 05:29:38 AM
Mining in general is bad business, cloud mining is even worse as they charge you extra for service you can do yourself at high premium but low quality service.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 15, 2014, 05:21:45 AM
Another 20% drop in price for Litecoin.

If it happen, even the most hardcore supporter will bail.
58  Economy / Speculation / Re: Still great time to sell litecoin and bitcoin. on: August 14, 2014, 03:15:45 AM
I would not sell now, after the today's drop I'm expecting a short term bounce.

A drop like this week set a new trend for the next few months if there is no good news.

Buying for short term rebound when the risk of dropping a lot further is not a good strategy.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 14, 2014, 03:11:04 AM
Litecoin isn't doing anything innovative. It has just been carried on Bitcoin's back through psychological engrained bullshit that it is the silver to Bitcoin's gold. What rubbish.

I don't think Litecoin will be top 10 within the next year. Too many more promising crypto's vying for the position.

Hard to say.

Even after dropping so much, the market cap gap between 2nd and 3rd spot is still very large.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 13, 2014, 03:25:32 AM
This thread is really funny lol.

I'll also be laughing next year when I start seeing the "I sold Litecoin at $5 feel bad for me" posts. There is a lot of misinformation here and little substance.

It's beginning to look like all of the weak hands have been shaken out... Good riddance. Bubble time soon. Smiley

Weak hand get shaken out usually help the fundamental. Problem is, litecoin has no usage and no media attention.
