41  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin and legacy blockchains do they talk on: February 18, 2022, 03:05:56 PM
I'm wondering if something like decred time stamping service is used across bitcoin, ltc, zec etc the original bitcoin works and if they do someone could point me to that because it seems like multiple chains would need to work together in order to be more secure from being corrupted. Seems logical as each chain wouldn't need to hold every block for every chains full data just a hash of the block.

I'm a noob and rolling my face on the keyboard trying to bring information together to make it easier to explain to other people how things work. I know a lot of everything is already done and nobody really knows what isn't public.

You have time to make something then hamstring it then sell it? crush or burn?does crushing and fire void the warranty as i dont see the warranty of these items anywhere?

Here is what i'm noticing with node connections. I'll be at 10/32 for hours then it'll randomly go to 11/32 then back to 10/32. Does anyone have any recommendations on this or is it a patience game?

Did you port forward in your router settings to your nodes ip address port 8333?

I'm fully synced and when I tried to turn on the miners and change the power to balanced the 2 standards are fine but the Full shows that the hashboard is inactive. Is that normal?

I'm having the same problem no its not normal if you shut down your node and reboot it will fix it for awhile then fails again. see my reply
45  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Do you think that Bitcoin is more worth buying than the ASICs? on: February 14, 2022, 08:59:39 AM
if nobody mines and nobody runs nodes bitcoin will end up like our current monetary systems. anyone can buy hardware it doesn't need to be profitable to support the network and continue to show the value of bitcoin at the very least run a full node bandwidth is cheap. riches doesn't always need to be the main driver i think people need to look at what the future could be like with fast cheap payments and everyone contributes instead of complaining about how things suck and their stock are down and crypto is down.
46  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing the FutureBit Apollo BTC - A Full Node/Mining Platform for the Home! on: February 14, 2022, 08:23:40 AM
Been trying to setup ledger live over local network with no luck have change iptables and bitcoin.conf however the software doesn't like it when I change the default credentials in /opt/apolloapi/backend/node/bitcoin.conf the node also seems to ignore the maxconnections= option i've set it to 64 and 128 and it always only shows 32 max connection in web ui.

I wanted to avoid installing extra things without purpose but perhaps i might need to use ufw

im guessing somewhere in the futurebit software the default creds are used so i will have to explore and find what and why that is.

this is an amazing piece of hardware i dont even care about the mining aspect currently however that is running great solo on ckspool and it will stay there until it mines a block and probably until the units die im really tired of using big pools seemingly all ran by 1 group. if bitcoins gonna be for everyone then idiots should be allowed to be idiots and mine solo. hash security on trusted nodes is hash security regardless if pennies are added to a btc wallet.

i did read patch notes for bitcoincore and it seems this is libbit node or atleast has the capability excited for the future of bitcoin.

attention to detail and security is awesome in this instance and i can tell a lot of time went into the development of this device right down to the design i love the screw holding the hard drive in place.

the people trashing other peoples stuff i dont understand unless maybe they were an investor and are self entitled inwhich case pffffffff

i did update the software and for some reason im getting a display error hooking a monitor to the futurebit i will explore that further i can startx but then it crashed back to prompt. im gonna setup ledger live on the unit itself which is probably more secure then doing it over local network perhaps this was by design to keep things safe.

I will get more nodes from futurebit as fast as i can for family members i need to fix an sell some boat anchors first.

My only regret in my bitcoin mining ventures is wasting money on shit hardware i should of donated to sidehack, futurebit, kano, ck instead. Canaan 1166pro was the biggest waste of money worked fully for 2 weeks then 2 hashboards for 4 weeks after replacing a $300 controlboard from a 3rd party then two weeks later firmware flash stopped the machine from working all together.

Probably the chip crapped out. Contact the seller for support.

I have had the most fun and learned the most playing with your devices. Thank you and keep up the good work without interesting technology my spare time would be boring.
48  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: QR codes vs NFC in Bitcoin Wallets on: February 13, 2022, 05:08:58 PM
with ocr being so advanced why are qr codes needed over just human readable strings? i cant translate a qr code by looking at it. even if the string was long between NFT capabilities and human readable addresses a better compromise could be made.

i love your input on nfc and its disadvantages.

Fan-spd,90 it's a fan speed with 90% you can replace it with 80% or 100% to try if it fixes the issue.

Do you know why an avalon 1166pro fails to start hashing after a firmware flash? The first time i ended up having to order a new control board and it fixed the problem and after a few weeks i flashed it with upgraded firmware that was emailed to me from canaan and now it just boots and says IDLE in the webui it connects to the pool just will not start hashing.

Canaan has been horrible with customer service i dont understand how you can sell a machine at such a high price and just brush off anyone who asks questions. at the very least they could give the tools required for people to diagnose their own machines. canaan told me if i buy a lot of machines i get support and warranty. im not rich and this is truly a hobby for me and i have bled about 15k so far on mining equipment in the last 6 months.

My avalon experience lost controlboard after 3 days(had to order from ebay for $300 canaan wouldn't sell me one), lost a hashboard after 3 weeks, lost whole machine now after 8 weeks. I wrote canaan it was under warranty when they ran the serial number but there was so many steps to get it returned and they wanted me to remove the hashboard and heatsink which i started doing but they put thermal paste all over every part of that board even the slots on the case the board slides into. So many steps as in (let us remote to your machine, disassemble whole hashboard, waybill, give us your company full information(im an individual), ship, insurance, wait time etc)

I even found a broken drillbit that was used to drill the holes in the avalons enclosure stuck in the fins of one of the hashboards. I know it was for this purpose because of the size of the drillbit and it still has 4 or 5 rings of alumnium attached to it.
