41  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What makes a post to be quality? on: April 05, 2024, 11:50:05 AM
Good English or the content of the post? Most definitely, the content of the post would count before how the English is written. But generally, what makes a post a quality one? It varies and not limited to just the content of the post and how proficient the use of the English language.
Individually, we’re different in how we see and interpret things. Our thoughts and opinions varies and we do not all think alike  so no one is bound by a specific rule on what could be classified as a quality post.

The content of the post is the primary thing as well as other aspects that people consider when classifying a post as a quality one. I’ve seen English speakers on the forum merit posts written in a different language in a local board. You’ve just got to pass your message through without making people think hard to decipher what you’ve written.
42  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lately I've been thinking about this a lot. on: April 04, 2024, 11:03:46 PM
Now I started to think about the real life UFC, maybe this is even happening underground and we don't know? Jake and Mike Tyson's upcoming fight for example is gearing up, many believe that Mike will win, but maybe something like this will happen?

Many gamblers are placing bets on this fighter since its more reliable than you against the casino games, this is all about agility and skills, but the possibility of intent loss to make more money is also possible in this game, what's your take on this?

It does happen in some sports today. It’s actually nothing new as match fixing has been going on nearly as long as people are willing to place bets.
Talking about the UFC, I doubt there could be cases of match fixing as it’s widely watched and scrutinized by everyone. Match fixing may still go on today but perhaps in somewhat unknown leagues and small teams.

About the fight between Jake and Mike, it’s obvious Mike cannot beat Jake. But then again, It’s an exhibition fight.

I think it's oneself before one go into gambling he/she should have done a thorough research and assimilated every rules and regulations guiding it inorder to know how to go about it,it's not about awareness  it's about understanding what you are about to go into .
Some just come up with the mindset of making money so quick and end up becoming addicted with being informed..just as they say an Investment in knowledge pays more, you can't venture into something without knowing the full details of what it is.

Ordinarily, one should know exactly what he/she is getting into and that doesn’t exclude gambling. I agree with you that one should know the pros and cons that comes with gambling along with certain tips to avoid financial ruin. But then, people are too hasty and in a rush to enter the gambling scene while having a false orientation about earning huge sums from the activity.

A lot of people have that belief that there is lots money to be made through gambling and while trying to get that huge sum, the individual could, without realizing it end up getting addicted.
44  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Telegram Casinos (2) on: April 04, 2024, 06:21:03 PM
I didn’t know there was the possibility of playing some games on Telegram. I’m not really enthusiastic about anything that has to do with Telegram as there’s a certain level of distrust that people generally have for the app. So I doubt I would be using any of their services.

I was aware back then when they tried being innovative and introduced a service where users can have and operate a crypto wallet on the app. While I didn’t envisage the ability to play games on there, I thought the guys at Telegram may have had some long term plans and goals concerning crypto and their app.
45  Economy / Economics / Re: Debt Management. on: April 04, 2024, 05:53:14 PM
Do not borrow funds to clear debts: doing that automatically makes you acquire more debts and it keeps accumulating because you won't seize to acquire outstanding debts, it would continue to go in cycles until you work hard to earn and become totally free.
This sounds crazy to me. Do people actually do this?

It does sound crazy and unfortunately it does happen and if this actually surprises you, You’d be more surprised at the number of people who do this. People do use their credit cards to pay for lots of payments owed to various services thus accumulating more debts.

Asides that, people literally take out loans from the bank or wherever  to repay another loan that’s due. It would be quite difficult for people like that to totally pay off all his loans cause even if the individual fails in paying off the debt on the due date, the interest on the loan would keep counting.
46  Other / Off-topic / Re: How can we help beginners not to get addicted on: April 03, 2024, 11:56:44 PM
Thirdly, don't gamble with other people's money..in short debt as this will throw you in a deep ditch that you will never crawl out of as you think you can beat the casino at their own game, but news flash for you buddy...the house always wins.

This is a mistake a lot of people make. People that are new to gambling as well as veterans in gambling do make this mistake as well. Admittedly, people who are just entering the gambling scene, in their false orientation of gambling as a quick way to make or double your money, use money meant for someone else to gamble hoping for a win in a bid to make some money for themselves.
I can see how beginners could easily make this mistake. In most cases, the outcome doesn’t end up well.
47  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling addiction is not about the money you could win; it's about the "win" it on: April 03, 2024, 11:32:42 PM
But even with those ideals in play, why would a millionaire start gambling in the first place?

so why would a rich athlete or politician become so addictive to gambling?

I think socialization+joy+drinking+gambling is satisfaction to them. What do you think?

I think the idea of winning could be appealing to everyone. Just the thought that you’ve won something of value irrespective of the amount of money or the prize itself makes one feel good.
I think rich folks who gamble do so likely for the thrill of winning and to socialize with other rich folks, creating connections to increase their wealth.

The prospect of winning more money is also appealing, even for rich people and in the quest for more money, they get addicted and run into gambling debts.
48  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can family members help a gambling addict? on: April 03, 2024, 10:57:27 PM
The most cases of stigmatization comes from the family, that is why some gambling addicts will rather hold on self help than going to open up to family members, sometimes they rely on friends more since most time they likely may have some similar interests with friends that family.

I wouldn’t exactly say that most cases of stigmatization comes from family. The issues that comes with addiction of any sort is a lot. The issues would continue to rise as the addicted individual, probably still being in denial would refuse any help from family or/and friends.

So I wouldn’t really fault some scenarios where some family members have tried and failed to bring the addicted family member around. I think individuals are more likely to feel judged, be ashamed and embarrassed by their actions and present situation to involve family members.
49  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think merit is by chance or lengthy article? on: March 31, 2024, 07:40:33 PM
Trying to teach people what they likely already know won’t get you any acknowledgment from anyone. You can write a lengthy post and no matter how much time and supposed effort you put into it and still not get a single merit. Such a a post could  be boring to read cause of its length that would likely have redundant and repetitive content. Posting content that someone else finds informative and useful could get you merits.
A lot of people end up writing long posts in a bid to get their message across clearer to everyone but could end up confusing people instead. Go straight to the point and make it short and simple.

50  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 31, 2024, 01:58:34 PM
@Iroh, are you serious that Brentford have a stronger team and better players than Manchester United?
I think that statement is like a false statement because after all, how can it be if Brentford has a team and players that are stronger and better than Manchester United, but this season Brentford is in the bottom zone of the standings. Although not in the relegation zone butstill, because Brentford is only in 15th place in the Premier League standings, obviously it is a position that is in the lowerzone. Because anyway, if Brentford has a stronger and better team and players than Manchester United, then Brentford should be able to be at least in the middle of the standings.

Also, celebrating after scoring a goal is natural, moreover Manchester United also loaded a goal in the 90+ minute and therefore, it is natural for them to celebrate and there is nothing wrong about celebrating . Becauseanyway, the problem was losing focus while thematch still going on, so Brentford also managed to get a goal back quickly in the lastminutes of thematch.

Made a silly error there. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I had wanted to write playing AGAINST a team that’s much stronger and had better players and not playing with a team . It’s quite obvious to everyone who watches football that Man United is the stronger team between the two.
I wasn’t particularly impressed when Brentford scored an equalizer. With Man United’s late goal, I had hoped the game would have ended up with Man United having the win but I guess Brentford had other plans.
51  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I really hold onto my bitcoins in the future? on: March 31, 2024, 01:36:09 PM
You mentioned you were unemployed at the moment and helping out yourself and your family has become quite difficult. If you’re really in a fix and you’ve got some bitcoin holding, you could sell off some of your assets to get yourself together.
You’ve got to examine your finances; knowing if you could hold off on selling your bitcoins till later on this year. You mentioned you’ve got two months before you take a decision. You could always continue job hunting while holding onto your coins. If the situation doesn’t improve, then you could sell off some of your coins to help pay for yours and the needs of your family.
52  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 31, 2024, 12:58:56 PM
Brentford can shots 31 times while Manchester United can only shots 11 times is really a big gap, if Manchester United wasn't celebrate too early when Mount scored a goal for Manchester United, Manchester United would have win this match. Sadly Manchester United didn't expect Brentford would score a goal after finding some spaces.

It's only 6 hours to go we will watch Manchester City humiliating Arsenal.

Brentford having 31 attempts at scoring a goal shows how hard they attempted. Although only a few shots found it’s target, it shows how Brentford struggled to get a goal despite against a team that is much stronger and having better players.
I believe Manchester United felt they’ve had the win in the bag and likely relaxed their defenses a bit. They sure didn’t expect Branford to score an equalizer and holding Man United to a draw.
53  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture vs oil on: March 31, 2024, 12:40:01 PM
During war times, oil makes the country win a war. As for food, they still could trade with some other countries but no country today has no source of food. Even the desert produces some kind of grain already because technology is far developed.

Oil doesn’t necessarily make a country win a war with another nation. Obviously, oil would be greatly needed in order to power all the machinery and vehicles but it alone cannot win one the war. Besides, the production of oil could be affected and they may not produce as much as during the peace time. As for food, we all depend on each other for different food produce.
Military strength, allies and weaponry are majorly what it takes to win a war with another nation.
54  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does having children have an influence on gambling habits? on: March 31, 2024, 11:48:03 AM
but don't force yourself to gamble if you have a limited budget, only enough for daily needs and you don't have other sources of income, so you as the head of the family must be responsible for your family's needs, so I agree with you that you can gamble when you have a budget and gamble with responsibility.

You owe your responsibility first to your family. If you’ve got a limited budget, you do not gamble as you ought to prioritize the needs of your family before your own. So you don’t indulge. If you really want to continue gambling, then you have got to increase your income levels. Get another job that would help increase your income so there won’t be any financial issues that may arise later on.
And even that, you still have to be financially responsible and not let your guard slip so as to not let loose and forget your responsibilities. A budget always help one remain focused.
55  Economy / Economics / Re: Going to war means let's ulter the economic progression on: March 31, 2024, 06:30:02 AM
War brings chaos and destruction and death. Like the OP noted, war alters the economic and social growth of both parties involved. Even when the war clearly brings forth a victor, the victor also suffers economic consequences from the war. I wouldn’t exactly say the effects is felt more on the world than in the countries actually fighting the war.

Obviously, the impact is felt in the surrounding regions and all over. Goods and services normally produced in that region and exported to various parts of the earth would be affected, drastically reduced or even stopped. Warring parties would have to conserve resources for their own citizens as the normal rate of the production of goods and services would have been reduced.

It was actually a disappointing performance from Chelsea to have a draw when they are still playing against 11 to 10 players, but that is a game. When the first goal was cancelled, it was one of the factors that made them weaker, although that was not a goal. So after Chelsea got their first penalty, they won before halftime, and immediately after coming back from halftime without hesitating, Burnley got their equalising goal, which made the game such an interesting one to watch.

Burnley just might have won this game. They were lucky to have gotten a penalty that gave them their first goal. I don’t know if it’s just me but that tackle that gave them the penalty is fair and shouldn’t have been called out as a foul. A foul that made Burnley lose a man.
Burnley surprised a lot by matching Chelsea with a goal of theirs each time Chelsea scored. They didn’t relent and that helped them hold Chelsea to a draw. A draw that disappointed a lot of people.  Interesting game that led to an unexpected outcome.
57  Economy / Economics / Re: Lock your bank balance on: March 30, 2024, 11:36:41 PM
I know that it is possible to secure a deposit in the bank with any type of asset, but with the possibility of permanent disposal of it, meaning that its owner cannot ask the bank to lock it.
What I would like to ask is whether this product exists in the banking system of your country and why, in your opinion, are there central banks that do not allow it? Also, is this possible on online virtual banks?

My personal expectation is that this will be possible with some small local banks or state postal institutions. I also expect that this is not allowed in other laws because I have not heard of it much.

Do you mean the safe deposit box service offered by banks and postal services? With the banks, I think there are fewer people each year who use the service although the service could still be available to some paying customers.

I don’t think there’s any central bank that would disallow this particular service as the whole idea of the bank is to safely safeguard and keep customers valuables. Asides money, there are things people consider valuable and would like to safeguard it. The service may not be as used as it once was, but it may very well still be available.

As for online virtual banks, I doubt they would have such service. You literally cannot deposit anything physically.
58  Economy / Economics / Re: Debt Management. on: March 30, 2024, 10:57:50 PM
Having debts is never pleasant. It’s so easy to take and accumulate them but so so difficult to pay up the full amount when it’s due. And for someone with a single income, it can be detrimental. It doesn’t really matter if the income is steady, you’ll always have the burden of parting away with some of your money to service a debt.
It’s advisable never to be in debt but obviously, issues arise that needs to tackled immediately and for some, there is little option than to go borrowing to quell such issues.

The problem is that people don’t borrow unless they really have to. They do so out of fulfilling a desire or a want and end up with debts. Debts they cannot be able to comfortably pay back when it’s due cause of their spending habits.
59  Economy / Economics / Re: When luxury becomes a necessity. on: March 30, 2024, 10:29:14 PM
As long as the product has a guarantee, it is worth buying because I have 2 of the same items to review the quality of these 2 items. For item 1 there is a guarantee from the company and I am not worried if it is damaged, it is a different story with item 2, in terms of cheap price, but there is no guarantee from the shop so we bear the service costs and the price is equivalent to half the item. So, from these two comparisons which are quite reasonable, in my opinion it is time for people to choose and sort out which one to use. But it all comes back to the needs of each individual. Because usually things like this are just a matter of taste.

It’s more of a matter of finances than of taste. I think it majorly comes down to the financial status of the individual when it comes to purchasing quality goods and getting a high level of service.
Everyone would possibly want the goods with the highest quality and the best of services available but are restrained due to financial constraints.
People are then forced to choose and to go with the substandard goods cause that’s what they can comfortably afford. We would all want to live the good life but sadly and realistically, not everyone can afford it.
60  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does having children have an influence on gambling habits? on: March 30, 2024, 10:11:43 PM
Having children or family does mean that you would really be having a responsibility that you would really be needing to fulfill, but i do
agree into some points above that as long you do able you do able to give out their needs then its not really that bad to gamble.

You do have a responsibility to fulfill towards yourself and your family. And whatever activities you do indulge in that takes up time and money before would have to be drastically reduced or if possible, stopped entirely. It doesn’t mean you can’t give yourself to a nice time treat occasionally, it means you’ve got dependents that are looking up to you as a parent financially and morally.

You could still indulge in gambling occasionally and still be a responsible parent to your child. Having a family shouldn’t make one quit doing what they love doing. As long as it’s legally and responsibly done.
