41  Economy / Economics / Re: UK brexit and rejoin with Europe and economy on: May 28, 2024, 09:42:19 PM
The problem with being in the EU was the Great Britain had to pump more money in than any other nation except I think Germany, to help much poorer EU nations. I will never understand this responsibility that the UK, US & other big powers have, to send billions & billions to other nations for aid or to help with wars when their own economies are struggling & their people are finding it hard to live the standard of life they used to.

Then they can influence the laws that guide their policies as a European Union instead of just cutting off their ties with the EU in what they referred to as the British Exit or Brexit. In a world of economic uncertainties and insecurity, it is rather better to get into ties than to get off ties with any union right now. I didn't encourage the UK to cut off for once but they did what they have to do and it's already backfiring on them because it wasn't going to be easy to break a mountain that was built for over half a century which the UK must have also enjoyed too, in just few months or years.
42  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The Tapswap addiction of youths today, will their expectations be met? on: May 28, 2024, 09:31:19 PM
Since the announcement of Tapswap, there has been addiction of youths to their phones, trying to mine as much coin as they can before 30th of may which is the proposed date of their launching. Tapswap is a decentralized exchange on the Solana block chain and every one, especially youths, are trying to take advantage of it but the issue is, will Tapswap be able to meet the expectations of its miners coming may 30th?  Undecided
do you consider people that are looking  for genuine money through airdrop as addict? What's your definition of addiction? Just so you know, airdrop has been ongoing for years back and a lot of people have benefited from mining it in the past and this is no different. I know that this made the headlines because of the large number of active participants it has managed to attract but that doesn't mean that participant are addict.

I really wonder what exactly is wrong with the social media hullabaloo that has grown over the shores of the country over the TapSwap mining appreciate which has continously grown its community over the period of time but I'm pretty sure that the company in itself is enjoying the hype and will always take advantage of it to grow faster and more rapidly. If there's one thing Nigerians can help you do, is to populate your initiative over a short period of time especially if that happens to appeal to their need. You got to get that massive patronage through their hypes for free.

The TapSwap only took advantage of the event that was going to happen after the NotCoin gained its value and smart Nigerians hit their jackpots from the fortune. But why I think this made the most craziest notice over the nooks and cranny is because lack of exposure a lot Nigerian youths had over such airdrops and how they truly operates.
43  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Rise of Autonomous Car Racing on: May 28, 2024, 08:50:41 PM
I'm still wondering how the algorithm works for this. Could it mean that every individual car have some sorts of human controlling the artificial intelligence behind the car. For instance, the cars will be controlled by high skilled developers who work behind the machine performance of the autonomous car or is it just going to be the artificial intelligence following the preset performance of each car based on the information it has about the engine capacity and so on. If it is latter, then it will mean that, a latest 2024 Ferrari car will always out speed a 2023 or 2022 Ferrari car by default regardless of the skills of the driver. Whereas in reality, a 2023 Ferrari can may likely win over a 2024 Ferrari car if for instance the driver skill in the 2023 car is higher than the other.

Why I'm just thinking this is, the level of precision of this game may be more than that of the drivers racing game which is more unlikely to predict since the drivers are still a factor to consider and count on. And yes, for a gambler, the more unpredictable the game becomes, the better it is.
44  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 27, 2024, 05:24:40 PM

I am seriously one of those people that actually think whenever a manager gets sacked or leaves his position probably because of poor management and team performance they shouldn’t rush back into getting another job. Taking a year off your job doesn’t only get you a free time with your family but also gives you the luxury to watch your tactics and back test matches that didn’t went well. You can use that period as a form of sabbatical. Xavi to me just like some younger managers rushed back into managing a club as huge as Barcelona with having a good record or probably a pattern they can boost of that they have used in the past and has worked for them.

This isn’t praising Xavi but to me he has done well with this Barcelona side who have more problems than just the one we see on the pitch. The internal struggles the club faces could create a difficult environment for even the top managers. Put this Xavi in a smaller club he would have been on the news now about been exceptional but the pressure at Barcelona is just too big for him to shoulder at this stage in his managerial career. For me he should take a one year break and later come back

I am equally of the same opinion as yours. Xavi should take some time to rest and analyze his performance with Barcelona over this season. Xavi has faced a lot struggles and tussle managing an elite club like Barcelona as a young manager in his managerial career, being able to navigate those top and tough management team consisted in the Barcelona club was sure going to be an hectic day for him all day. But he was able to remain firm and pushed the club to the position they hold today in the La Liga table standing.

For him to return optimally, I also suggest he takes some break and use those periods to take some more professional courses, give time to family and fly out for vacations while he builds more stamina to work stronger than now. What you cannot take from Xavi right now is his high profile already which makes him a high stake for a lot of clubs out there following the experience he has gathered while coaching over the Barcelona club this season.
45  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 27, 2024, 04:59:34 PM
I think it is quite obvious that we are talking about ETH being obnoxious at this point with this title. City losing this cup isn't really that sad for City since they won so many titles so far, treble last year, four in a row league this year, it's all great for them. But they did something that really hurts everyone else because now all the annoying United fans and all the annoying ETH followers (and he himself) really makes it quite boring and annoying and they keep talking about their "big" achievement.

It is obvious that United sucks, I mean you can look at UCL and League situation they are in right now to see how terrible they are, just because they got lucky and won against City is not a reason to consider them as good at all.

Lol. No hard feelings though. Manchester City have done their part to make sure they win the FA Cup but they could not. This is not because they're not willing to add that to their baggage but simply because the luck was not on their side and even though they could not win the Match, they were able to play the United to stuppor. I think any united fan out there celebrating and jumping around should be ashamed because United really performed badly in this season and was only lucky to take the FA Cup. If I'm meant to rate these clubs by their performance across boards, Manchester City and Arsenal will always be favoured than Liverpool and Manchester united.
46  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Person wey get money no fit spray the money again? on: May 25, 2024, 09:55:47 PM
I like how Central bank was been serious about this Naira mutilation of a thing, it has sent a message to many ignorants people who don't know law, with two victims that were arrested within the few days even someone who is not active on the internet will have gotten the message by now because arresting a person like Obi Cubana chief priest is one of the reason why they took him in despite knowing he is not the only person who is guilty of this act.

Atleast people that love to oppress friends that the have money will all stop now and even if they did spray money in parties and ceremonies, they will make sure no phone is allow to avoid people from making videos because I'm very confident that nobody want to be victim in the hands of the government.

I no believe say Nigerian law go strong like this until when I was opportune to attend one wedding party wey my governor sef been attend, I come hear wey him they cut warning give people say if them one donate money, make them put am inside basket but make nobody try or attempt to spray money for there. And lo and behold, nobody try spray money for the programme o. Na that time I begin they imagine how well Nigeria for don turn to today if to say everyone they obey our laws like this.

The development and advancement wey we they all look for take style they tied to our law and order. And any country wey be say, them no they hold their laws well, E go they difficult make them truly get peace and they secured. But if everyone do their part, as government and citizens, we for don achieve more results as a nation.
47  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: What are the major problems that Nigeria is facing now? on: May 25, 2024, 09:42:30 PM
A weakening economy and rising insecurity threaten progress made in its democratic development. Amid deepening distrust in government and institutions, Nigeria has significant work to do in improving national, state and local security and governance following the national and state elections.

https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-opera-mini-android&sca_esv=e366935364740875&channel=new&q=What+is+the+problem+facing+nigeria+today&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwibwYTJjf-FAxVihf0HHVu0CsEQ1QJ6BAgBEAQ

Nigeria was a nice and sweet country ever,  but all of sudden things turned apart. What do think should be done now?

A lot has to be done to salvage Nigeria from the quagmire we're in already. For Nigeria to be better, we have to undergo some attitudinal change, where many Nigerian citizens and the leaders will have to revamp their attitudes towards themselves and to the rule of law. Selective discipline and judgement happens to be one major problem bedeviling our development as a nation today because anyone who have an opportunity to get close to power is quick to break or undermine the rule of law and to use the power with them to oppress others. It has become so rampant that everyone including businesspeople in the country are struggling to occupy positions of power so they can use that to protect their businesses and even shield their trades from law enforcement agencies and tax enforcement agencies. If we want things to change, it must begin with us.
48  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: May 25, 2024, 09:34:24 PM
Manchester City were able to dominate the match, but both teams had chances and shots on target that were quite balanced in the match, but today I quite salute the defense built by Manchester United which I think was quite successful in overcoming the pressure from Manchester City attackers throughout the game, I think their defense was quite solid if we compare it to their previous matches,   Manchester United today managed to win the FA trophy and regardless of whether or not Ten Hag was sacked this season but what is certain is that Manchester United will play in the Europa League next season through the FA champion path.

I also want to congratulate Manchester United..!

Kudos to Manchester United but again you see, that is a typical example of what the Manchester United is made up. Uncertainty! This season was full of uncertainty for the Manchester United club and sometimes when you expect the best from them, they give you less and when you thought they could do less, they do more. The game against Manchester City was that which many would have thought Manchester City will win but for someone like me, I already had a feeling that Manchester United will win instead and that's what happened.
49  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Religion. Beliefs or Choices? on: May 25, 2024, 09:28:42 PM
Gambling might be labeled a sin and dismissed. Unfortunately, humans aren't angels. We want excitement, risk, and a break from routine. The fact is that we gamble, not that it's good. We're multifaceted creatures, not Bible-programmed robots. Religions provide moral guidance. But ultimately, we must choose. It's a delicate balance between what we desire and what's best for ourselves and others

Remember the big picture. Society and religion typically regulate gambling. They're trying to protect and steer us toward group success. However, blatant bans typically force things underground, making them more harmful. Perhaps we should appropriately manage it instead of outlawing it. Could regulated gaming be safer than unscrupulous operations?

Generally, anything that's going to harm you physically or mentally is completely wrong and disregarded in any religion perspective since religion is an aspect of life that guide you into the right side of your life. So, when you look at gambling, it affects the mental health and not encouraged at all since it has caused people to lose their life savings and investments.

Another aspect of gambling is the addictive part. Because of the nature of gambling which makes it addictive to those engaged in it to the point they can hardly control how they gamble, gambling is discouraged by religion and even the society like you said, don't encourage gambling and when you look at the bigger picture of it, you will agree that the disadvantages of gambling are way beyond the benefits of gambling and therefore should be discouraged by religions.
50  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you achieved anything from gambling on: May 25, 2024, 09:17:48 PM
Personally I've not really earned anything tangible from gambling but I've seen interesting stories of gamblers who have won humungos payments and rewards from betting especially after staking small amount of money, setting up a high amount of odds and winning big afterwards. An instance is that of a Nigerian man who almost scattered the internet with much amusement over his monumental betting skills. How can someone stake as low as 1 dollar to win over 40,000 dollars in return. It made the entire media space went agog as a lot of people got asking for tips and possibilities from the guy.

The question this has kept me asking like others is, how is this kind of gamble possible and should we regard it as a game of luck too or was it more of a thing of mastery? Can anyone here really relate to this?
51  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling bad to the society? on: May 24, 2024, 09:57:33 PM
Gambling makes people very greedy and addicted to it, people waste a lot of things like money, wealth and their valuable time. for this it is a bad thing in the eyes of the society. People who gamble are looked down upon by the society. Gambling is really a good place of entertainment and a lot of entertainment is available from it but it gives a lot of pain to our mentality due to heavy loss due to its addiction. and that is why it is called bad addiction and society does not support it

Well, I think Gambling was brought to the world as a type of game that requires two or more people to come together and go into wagering of an amount, take risks or chances and to win a prize thereafter. But it also involves a consensus agreement between both parties going into it to gamble. Gambling is ordinarily an entertaining game that people were playing for past time sake until it became a behaviorial addiction to many that they cannot afford to leave.
52  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 24, 2024, 09:38:08 PM

I am sure that in the FA Cup final this time there will be a surprise that Manchester United can show. The reason is, the FA Cup final is the only competition that is a big opportunity for Ten Hag's team to win a trophy this season.
I am not expecting any surprise from Manchester United in the match. Pep Guardiola will be using his full squad in the match, and he will do everything possible to win the match. Guardiola missed the Champions League this season, so he will want to win both the Premier League and the FA Cup.

I think with the current position and points that the Manchester City is holding in the Premier League, whether they win the match against Manchester United or not for instance, they are already winners of this year's Premier League tournament and this is Guardiola doing what he's known for doing the most.

Money addiction

In my opinion, when we talk about the word "addiction", we are talking about bad things and evils in society. Meanwhile, making money is to meet life's needs and to survive in this world, so I wouldn't call making money an addiction.

Making money is an extremely difficult and sometimes even life-threatening task in high-risk jobs. So in your opinion, is anyone stupid enough to be addicted to things that can get them into trouble, even endanger their lives? Making money is our only way if we don't want to be eliminated from this world.

OPs mindset towards money spending or 'addiction' in money like he tagged the word words to cannot be applied in anyone's financial life and management. First and foremost, the real essence why people look for money and engage in many activities that will bring them money is simply to be able to solve problems with it because over time money has become the most essential commodity of life in the sense that you practically cannot achieve any milestones if you lack money in today's world.

What I'm saying now is that, due to the essential need of money in our lives today, you cannot do without spending money. The only aspect we can continue to advocate about is the investment aspect. And when you ask, I will say that we all invest with one goal at the end of the day and it is to have something to spend when you no longer have anything to spend.
54  Economy / Economics / Re: knowledge about risks and their types. on: May 23, 2024, 09:49:51 PM
Thanks for this very informative post!

I agree that many people do not actually know what entails a risk. This results to them encountering huge losses than they would have if they had just learned about risks. In every investment, there’s always a risk associated and to say that all investments would guarantee you a 100% return is crazy. Yes it might be possible but only if you properly manage the risks that will come your way.

I have come to the realization for a long time about the importance of studying risks in any business so as to prevent loses from the business. No matter how much you claim to understand the intricacies of business, if you don't focus on learning the associated risks and skills towards curtailing such risks, you will have difficult time trying to achieve a successful business career.

Most people are always interested in the results without dedicating enough time to the process. Rather they are more interested in the ambitious business targets they house in their brains.

The charm of the season has already ended as Manchester City have won the title this season. I think the most interesting match of this season in the English Premier League was the last match between Manchester City and Arsenal as it depended on these two matches to win the title.  Arsenal and Manchester City played against different opponents in the last two matches where the equation was that if Manchester City lost or drew in the last match, Arsenal would win the title this season if Arsenal won their last match. But the equation didn't turn out that way as Manchester City won their last match. Since Manchester City is title assured this season, I don't think there will be much interest in the remaining matches.

Arsenal was my favorite from the beginning of the season to the end and I never regretted in supporting them for a minute because they were able to consistently win games that pushed them forward until the tail end of the season. Premier League is one of the toughest football tournament in the world and being able to get to the level Arsenal got to was a major milestones for Arsenal. Arsenal game against Aston Villa cut off the big chance they had to take the league but unfortunately for them. It didn't go well for the club in that match. I'm sure Arsenal currently have a take home from this season that they should take to the next season.

Atalanta secured a historic 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, clinching their first-ever European trophy. Ademola Lookman stole the spotlight with hat-trick, becoming the first player to achieve this feat in a European final in 49 years. I believe that Coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s intensity and tactical brilliance played a crucial role in Atalanta’s success. Atalanta fans, whose teams are often overshadowed by giants such as AC Milan and Inter Milan, are living a fairy tale. Additionally, Bayer Leverkusen’s impressive 51-match unbeaten run came to an end.

I shout out to all the players of Atalanta who made great outing yesterday. The coach was confident enough to make the club stronger and more result oriented. Due to the current outstanding performance of Leverkusen, I thought they are taking the lead but it was otherwise as Atalanta was able to take the challenge head-on and make a 3 straight win to bring the trophy home.

Another significant event that happened was that Atalanta was able to break the unbeatable streak of Leverkusen with a hattrick from Lookman in the following minutes of the game which includes 12 minutes, 26th minute and 75th minute of the game.
57  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: May 23, 2024, 09:08:13 PM
Talking about Ronaldo, who often sat on the bench when he was at Manchester United, there were actually several problems and if you delve deeper into the problem, it was actually not Ronaldo's fault, but there was something that resulted in a misunderstanding between Ronaldo and Erik Ten Hag and Ronaldo ended up resigning.
Actually Ronaldo is a great player who is very friendly if he is treated well but if he is treated badly, he will definitely do the same thing.
Look now at how Ronaldo is making his contribution to the Saudi Arabian club, even though they have different beliefs, Saudi Arabia appreciates him and he is making his best contribution.

Permit me to talk a little bit about Ten Hag especially as he was kinda instrumental in the failure of the Manchester United to a large extent. How comes will a manager of an elite team like the Manchester United will be biased or beef against a star player like Cristiano Ronaldo when he's meant to utilize his present in the team. Now that Cristiano Ronaldo is back to the Saudi Pro League and Al-Nassr is making good of him already.

Since Ronaldo joined the Al-Nassr club, it has successfully scored 62 goals out of 68 matches he has featured in for the Al-Nassr. Making him the most prolific goal scorer in the league and the world at large.
58  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never borrow money to be able to gamble on: May 22, 2024, 09:58:26 PM
It is not going to help if you tolerate him and you still lend him some money even if you understand the situation and it's okay for you that you have the idea that guy might not be able to pay.

It is not compassion if you're going to help him get some money so that he can continue to gamble. A real friend won't tolerate that but instead will educate the addicted gambler to stop it.

Whether he'll get love or hate from that addicted gambler, at least you have expressed and said the right thing to do.

If I was a friend to an addictive gambler and I am in a shoe to advise them to stop gambling, I won't hesitate or stop doing that at any minute I got the opportunity to do so. I have oftentimes try to relate the addiction of gambling to that of drug abuse, permit me if that's not true in your opinion, hence it's very difficult to survive it whenever you're an addict.

I have a friend who was a drug addict and another one who was an addict in gambling. The only difference between them was that the gambler was able to leave gambling in the long run, whereas the drug addict had to pass through rehabilitation before he stopped but they almost behave the same. Like, when they are broke, they still try to go into the practice even when it will require them to borrow money from people around them. And even after they have promised to stop, they can still hide and go back.

So, if I was a friend to an addicted gambler, I won't stop to advise and encourage him to stop, part of which is denying him the funds to play the gamble even when I have it.
59  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 22, 2024, 09:49:39 PM
Real Madrid could experience the same thing this season in the Champions League final. Real Madrid is really considered the favorite because of its current performance, but this is not a guarantee to ensure that Real Madrid can actually win the match. No one knows what will happen in the final, Real Madrid is still very likely to lose even though they have a record of many titles.

Real Madrid is currently one of the best clubs to count on. I will always choose Real Madrid over Dortmund if I were to gamble it based on the antecedents and trajectory in this season and the previous ones. They have always been promising and up and doing as far as effective delivery in performance is concern. Let's not forget that Ancelotti is not experiencing this for the first time and he has also been promising when it comes to controling the game to a win. Ancelotti is interestingly one manager that you can count on even at the last minute of the match when it gets hot.
60  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Bank limitations, loss of customers as result of POS on: May 22, 2024, 03:14:30 PM
Omo, POS ( point of sale) has taken over the bank people now, they have many things easier and faster unlike the banks who will just be wasting people time and energy yet one can't still fulfil what he or she came for, so this POS can help or deliver someone in need, especially during emergency that concern health, with POS one can have peace of mind etc.

Na these POS terminals be the way forward now. Technology wey we see today, have brought about plenty developments in the world and Nigeria have not been left behind too even though developing countries like ours have a slower pace in terms of technology adoption than developed countries like.the US and UK who are eager to explore and experience new developments.

Even though the POS system have been said to be in existence since 1800s, the Central Bank of Nigeria brought it to Nigerian banking sector in 2012 under the leadership of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who was the CBN governor from 2009 to 2014. Since the adoption of POS in Nigeria, many citizens and small business owners have taken advantage of the ease in doing business using the POS stands as an alternative to the Bank ATM machines or over the counters.
