41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: November 09, 2020, 09:50:42 PM
Code isn't working. And I'm using 2 Gekko NewPac miners. Even after changing --gekko-r606-freq to --gekko-newpac-freq. Need a bit more help. I'm running Windows 10 Home 64 bit build 2004.

If you're running NewPac you need to use:

./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u Your_BTC_Address -p x --gekko-newpac-freq 500 --suggest-diff 128 --api-listen --api-allow W:127.0.0.1

Earnings have picked up a bit.

I moved my miners from nicehash to viabtc.

 seems more stable.

of course I have to stack eth rather then convert to btc.

I also have to wait till I reach 1 eth to withdraw it.

I am earning about 1 eth in about 9 days. or 51 usd a day

Still can not find

3070
3080
3090 nvidia cards at stock prices.

How many GPU rigs do you run?
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: November 07, 2020, 12:11:35 AM
Basically if you want an exact number you run the rig with all GPUs. And then just disconnect 1 GPU at a time and measure the chance in wattage. This is a pain to do because there is no easy way to disconnect the GPUs, you have to disconnect the riser, and disconnect the PCIe power cables. If you have the riser plugged in without PCIe cables it will draw power and vice versa. Hence it won't be accurate.

Or instead, just run system with 0 cards, measure, connect 1GPU, measure and substract previous measure, connect 2 GPUs, measure and substract previous measure...
You will know exactly how much your idle system uses, you will know how much each GPU uses and you can do it while making your rig or after cleaning when you are rebuilding it.

Honestly, I'm good with the ballpark numbers. I have no desire to do this. lol

What's weird is that I'm running 3 PowerColor and 1 Sapphire RX5700XT and noticed that the power draw on the sapphire is a lot less than the PowerColor.

1. PowerColor Radeon™ RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6 (base model) - 110W
2. PowerColor Radeon™ RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6 (base model) - 109W (fan continually ramps up 100% - temp only @ 49C)
3. PowerColor Red Devil Radeon™ RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6 - 112W
4. SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6 - 95W

It seems like buying Sapphire cards would theoretically be more power efficient based on my small data sampling.

Measured at the wall or into the SW (miner)?

In SMOS. The rig is closer to 570 at the wall, SMOS shows the rig around 545. I'm not sure how to measure each card independently @ the wall without running each card solo to get a sampling over a set time period.

Could it be that power draw difference is due to fans?

The first two are the 2 fan model using the 8 and 6 pin power connectors, but both the Red Devil and Nitro+ are 3 fan models using 2x 8 pin connectors.

So, theoretically the Red Devil and the Nitro+ should be pulling close to the same power, but instead, the Red Devil is closer to the 2 fan model in power draw.

4 pin fan for GPU:

But I would think you would need the appropriate fan for your card.

Looks good, can you try also with Power Stage 7 instead of 4?

Thanks, so far I've been stable for almost 4 hours without a restart using the last settings that I posted and pushing the Power Stage to 7.

***UPDATE***

Stable at 25 hours.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: November 03, 2020, 05:11:19 PM
I think your issues are OC settings not Nicehash, can we see you OC settings and what cards are you using?

Keep in mind that these settings are stable on a straight Ethereum pool.

3 PowerColor RX 5700 XT running at:
Core MHz: 1300
Mem MHz: 915
Core Undervolt: 800
Power Stage: 4

I'm going to try dropping the Mem MHz to 900...

***UPDATE***

I've dropped my settings to the following and have crashed 3 times in 30 minutes:

Core MHz: 1300
Mem MHz: 900
Core Undervolt: 800
Power Stage: 4

Here's what I use for nicehash with my BTC address with TRM version 0.7.15 with SMOS.
-a ethash -o stratum+tcp://daggerhashimoto.usa.nicehash.com:3353 -u btcaddresshere.$rigName -p x --api_listen --watchdog_script.

I have three systems using trm on smos. these three systems work better with trm than they do with phoenix.  I have a fourth system that works better with phoenix than it does with trm.

That definitely caused some issues after running about a minute, I guess NiceHash isn't in my future until they come out with the newer NHOS.

Sometimes they get really stable.

My 2 card hp omen  rigs are very good.  1080ti's about 2 2/3 years old. they run perfectly 50 days in a row no issues

the amd are flakey

A) my service may have an issue
B) smos servers may have an issue
C) nicehash may have an issue

But they are easy peasy to run and I like the direct conversions of eth to btc.

Do your AMD cards get a lot of restarts in SMOS against Nice Hash? I'm at 17 restarts today using SMOS with Phoenix, I can't get TeamRed Miner to work against NiceHash (using the proper BTC address), but it works great against Ethereum with ETH address.

Do you guys get a lot of rejects on NiceHash?  Are your rigs as stable as mining straight eth?

Yes, I only get errors on Nice Hash, I can run against Ethermine for days with no issues.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: November 03, 2020, 12:32:37 AM
For TRM with Nicehash you can use:

-a ethash -o stratum+tcp://daggerhashimoto.eu.nicehash.com:3353 -u wallet.$rigName -p x --eth_stratum_mode=nicehash --api_listen --watchdog_script=/root/utils/force_reboot.sh

This keeps freezing my my server:

-a ethash -o stratum+tcp://daggerhashimoto.usa-new.nicehash.com:3353 -u 0xdd484cddd2ad58d2f562db2973ce1f87b59826e4.$rigName -p x --eth_stratum_mode=nicehash --api_listen --watchdog_script=/root/utils/force_reboot.sh

your need a btc addy. as nice hash converts all coin to btc.

Doh... I literally knew that! lol

If you using SMOS Phoenix works with this command:
-pool stratum+tcp://daggerhashimoto.usa-new.nicehash.com:3353 -wal 12345.$rigName -rmode 2 -esm 3 -allpools 1 -estale 0

Do you get a lot of these errors? My server has like 11 restarts from when I started this a few hours ago.

Smos to nhos.

I have not got round to trying nhos.

Have you tried nhos.

I was running NHOS for a few weeks on an old ASRock H81 Pro R2.0 and Intel 3250 with (4) 5700XT and I ended up burning out 1 GPU and couldn't get the OS to function properly after the fact.

I also couldn't get NHOS to function with an ASUS TUF X570 Gaming PLUS WIFI System Board. The OS loaded and said that the cards were hashing, but just showed "pending" when I looked at the web console on Nice Hash.

I would like to add that I ended up going to Simple Miner OS after reading this thread and like it. Still have to figure out how to hash on Nice Hash... I'm currently running on Ethermine.

A little uptick on eth and nicehash not sure if it stays  but it got better today.

Do you use NHOS or connect from SMOS?

If you can get  Nvidia 3080 get it.

first choice is this card

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-10gb-gddr6x-pci-express-4-0-graphics-card-titanium-and-black/6429440.p?skuId=6429440&ref=186&loc=nvidia_6429440

the Evga's are good.

https://www.evga.com/products/ProductList.aspx?type=0&family=GeForce+30+Series+Family&chipset=RTX+3080

I think the 3080's may be a hair better.

Myself I got a few more of these 5700xt's

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WNYZJ7Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?

It has dual bios , fast shipping and the return period is Jan 31 2021

Thanks, for the info. Currently, I'm using PowerColor 5700XT's. I just replaced one of my dead PowerColors with a Red Devil yesterday under warranty from Micro Center.

Phil,

Do you suggest waiting for the release/sale of the AMD 6000 series or going with the new NVIDIA cards to anyone looking to purchase new cards?
