41  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dangers of legal immunity to the growth of a country on: April 05, 2024, 08:41:04 AM
Legal immunity is the legal protection of  public office holders against investigation and arrest by any law enforcement agencies, so in this article I will talk about the dangers of this immunity to the growth of our country, As a government of a particular country you are a public office holder and as such just like we have seen in some parts of West Africa, Public office holders misuse the power and Even abuse their office, using their office for all sort of unconstitutional dealings, some democratic elected government no longer apply the principles of the rule of law, and most times they carry out all this actions because they see themselves to be above the law, as police and other law enforcement agencies can't investigate or call them to other, which is really hindering the growth in West Africa, I just believe most west African leaders and governments especially the presidents posses too much constitutional and even non constitutional powers, Legal immunity on all these are leaders is actually hindering the progress of economic, commercial and social growth in our region, even if there will be legal immunity it should have checks and balances so our leaders in government can be call to order or made to face the law when defaulting, that way their actions will be moderated and controlled,

More openness about legal immunity may result in greater political assaults and smear operations against public leaders. If the particulars of every case where legal immunity has been used are made public, this could result in a lot of negative publicity, even if the use of legal immunity is justified. It could also help to deter inappropriate use of legal immunity and increase public trust in the system by establishing an independent body to review cases where legal immunity is invoked. As a result of the legal immunity system, we insulate them from being held accountable for egregious misbehaviour.
42  Other / Politics & Society / Re: LIFE on: April 04, 2024, 10:46:50 AM
All life loves life and reproduction.
The future of life is to transform the cosmic matter into more life at all costs.
As the pioneer and pride of life, human beings should wake up.
Life is kind, and the foundation of life is food and comfortable living space.
So stop wars and internal friction, use these energy to make more food, and let the flower of life bloom all over the universe.
This is the calling of life.

Of certainly, we can build a better future for mankind and the entire world since war and conflict are an unnecessary expenditure of resources, which we can do via communication. When individuals can speak and understand one another, trust and collaboration are much simpler to establish. This is why the internet and social media can be such effective instruments for building a better society. They link individuals from all over the world, allowing them to exchange thoughts and observations in ways that were previously impossible. This can lead to a better knowledge of different cultures and the revelation that we have more in common than we previously assumed. Teaching our children from a young age to cherish all kinds of life and respect differences.
43  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Social vices; unhealthy society. on: April 04, 2024, 10:37:39 AM
Societies that occupied chronic drugs addicts, chain smokers, high way robbers, prostitutions, kidnappers, cultism, bloody leaders, and witchcrafts practices is vulnerable to threats and unhealthy society. Some communities has no peace around their environment because they're people who have decided to create tends atmosphere. You can not move freely because you're sore afraid of another persons posting as threats to their lives.

Any society that do not practice harmony and coherent society tends to destroy lives of its members and when lives is negatively affected it becomes a threats to the society. We should leader to maintain healthy society by been clean to yourself and your community. Let's avoid bad habits and drugs to build possible society for the future.

In my opinion, when individuals live in fear, it makes it difficult for them to live happy lives and realize their full potential, therefore providing access to the care and recovery for persons battling with addiction would help them feel more relaxed and encouraged. By offering these programs, we can help folks get back on their feet and live healthy, productive lives. Furthermore, boosting access to education and career possibilities can assist people avoid turning to violence or addiction. Finally, law enforcement should strive to combat crime in a fair and reasonable manner that does not further exclude disadvantaged communities while still providing employment opportunities.
44  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Four Lucrative businesses you can start in Nigeria on: April 04, 2024, 10:26:30 AM
I've you ever been in a situation wey you dey  think which business to do with money wey just enter your hand?Like better money enter your hand but you don't know what business to do with it.

I want to tell you all 4 correct businesses wey you fit use am do wey go yield better profit at the end.

1: Fish farming or Poultry farming: The demand for food product na constant thing. As  the population dey grow na so the demand for food too  they increase. You can start with a plastic tank or tarpaulin for the fish farming. You can also rent ponds from people. There are people that have ponds they rent out for fish farming purpose . The profit in fish farming is huge. Na my parent business be this so I know what they make from it.

2: Mobile money AKA POS business: money dey for pos business, no look am say e no dey. Just get a good location and the place  busy. Pos business provides convenience to a lot of people that don't want go through bank hassle.  I am among the first people who started the POS business before it became a global thing 😃. I made a lot of money, and I am still doing it.

3: online business( E-commerce) With the increase social media engagement, starting online store by selling various products is very lucrative. You fit sell shoes, clothes or anyone of your choice. The reason I love this one, you don't need to rent a physical store, people go dey see your product online. Just make sure say your product are of good qualities and deliver to your customer on time.

4: Buy properties people can rent from you like canopies, chairs, table, curtains, costumes etc. You can be renting these properties out to people that have parties or occasion and be making your cool cash. You know say party na sure thing, whether na birthday, wedding ceremony and even burial. People will need all these for the party.

All these businesses are lucrative in Nigeria, However the success of any business requires careful planning, market research and commitment.

If you have other businesses, you can also drop them here so we can see as well.

I must admit that your fourth concept is really intriguing. Renting out chairs, tables, and costumes for gatherings is an excellent way to generate money. People always require these goods for their events, and if you can give them at a reasonable price, you will be successful. Furthermore, as the event industry in Nigeria grows, this business has the potential to develop as well. Selling food items is extremely profitable and reasonable since people require them in their daily life; they cannot exist without eating or purchasing and selling. However, it is necessary to have solid management abilities and a dependable source to assist you operate the firm. You also need to build a business strategy too.
45  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to strengthen our own Naira against other currencies on: April 04, 2024, 10:15:18 AM
For the naira to be strengthened local production should be encouraged, Nigeria solely depends on other countries' goods for survival and it's not good for us, note any countries you import anything from, you must exchange your currency to theirs, in turn, it weakens your currency, do you also know that, some hotels in Nigeria receive their payment in Dollars, so where do we start, can you do this anywhere in the world, the answer is no, the government has to identify their lapses and improve on them, some so called expatriate is been paid in Dollar or any other currency here, so how do we solve this problem, I think Nigerian government should make strict policy regarding this, then changes will come, we have so many raw materials here that we can use to produce different things, but no encouragement, I think we should not depend on crude oil only, let's explore more and encourage local investors I believe we will get there, China was not great before, the started little, but today both in tech and normal production capacity, you cant say anything without mentioning China, I believe Nigeria can do it if they are ready to get rid of corruption.

Significant impediment to the growth of the economy and development. When elected officials and other prominent people utilize their positions for personal benefit, it can result in waste, incompetence, and mismanagement of public resources. Fighting corruption should be the Nigerian government's the utmost importance. This would assist to level the playing field for organizations and individuals, as well as encourage more local and foreign investment.

Overall, you are correct: Nigeria has the possibility to become a more rich and industrialized country. However, accomplishing this aim would need a mixture of policies that promote diversification of the economy, building investment, and efforts to combat corruption.
46  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: School fees hike on: April 04, 2024, 10:00:05 AM
I no even know where this country is leading us to because to be sincere this is getting out of hand, e come mean say people wey no get money no go fit afford school fee again then wetting be the work of government and why are they in that office and why is the school fee of Federal University be high like this?

Although for northern side, the school fee never high like that but 200k Naira is much for undergraduate, the funny part is that even after the school, no guarantee job they outside they wait for u.

I have been experiencing bad government for a while but this administration is getting out of control, food, shelter, social amenities and other things we need are expensive and the government is not supporting again; insecurity come join them again ”For this country now, the cost of living wan kill the living”

Na true u talk so, I no just understand Naija, if u won understand am today, tomorrow u no go understand am, Naija just fluctuating like say na coin and e come be like say the cost of living dey increase everyday and the people wey suppose to help us dey cause more trouble. Some people don even give up for this country. We just need to do something different, but we no know wetin we go do. How dem go expect person wey no get job or good business to take care of him family wen be say food, rent, school fee and everything else don increase.

I dey sure say we fit do something if we fit just comot our personal interest from the matter, come put the interest of Naija first although for this country na only God go just save us all if not people go die, Naija go jaga jaga and corruption go still dey increase more so even if the government no care about the property dem dey rule, e no mean say we no get get the things wey we want get but make we stand up for ourselves and our families and try get wetin we want even though everything dey hard, so one day e go better and na just na we believe say we fit make am.
47  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: ARE THEY MAKING MONEY FROM FLOOD? on: April 04, 2024, 09:47:34 AM
What has caused the increase in disastrous floods, and can't the government do something to mitigate the issue?
Poor or no drainage is one of the main cause of flooding.

Some heavy rainfall (and with some other natural disasters) can also cause flooding. The flood that submerged one third of Pakistan last year would be beyond drainage. Although some flood would have been avoid if drainages are well constructed and if people are not turning the drainages into a dumping ground.

The one that happened in Southern Nigeria last year was as a result of heavy rainfall and displace of water from dams in Nigeria and in Cameroon which caused it.

Flood is a natural disaster. Not that some people intentionally caused flooding, but in the process of preventing flooding from occuring, and also saving lives during flooding, some people are provided with jobs and they are making money.

True true, some people dey use dat means wey flood dey come dey use make money, like government fit send palliative, some people go just divide am into two, sale half, share half, and the thing go come make e no go reach everyone the way e supposed reach, dem dey always happy each time dey hear say flood dey come, dem no mind if people dey suffer or not, wetin dey just dey after na wetin dem go benefit from the flood, our government them dey try to dey assist us wen we dey for danger na just the people wey we dey under, dey make us look say our government dem no dey try, I remember during 2012 wen flood hit my community, omo people suffer like mad, dem go pack finish enter upland, government come send plenty palliative like beds, rice etc, can you imagine say some people just divide am into two, even people wey der house no dey affect with flood, talk chop pass people wey dey flood affect, omo I pity people that time o, some houses destroy but God dey and government dem fit help too in order to dey avoid complains and blame by building dams, drainage systems and also to dey inform people on time about wetin dey come so that dem fit dey prepare early to avoid loss of properties etc.
48  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Students Unionism on: April 04, 2024, 09:28:37 AM
Students are peculiar people in any society of the world. The most vibrant and articulate social class in contemporary capitalist societies. The repository of both ancient and modem knowledge which could entitle them to top hierarchy positions in work places. Which means management cadre is an exclusive preserve of the students in this world of work.
But this ideal trajectory could only be manifested by the students when there exists a vibrant and articulate student Union in the society that puts pressure on the state and it's management team to provide the blueprint for implementation.
Because the crisis of Capitalism could  only be ameliorated through the equal access to power for negotiations by all social classes aggregated on the criteria of Unionism, which the students are entitled to the game.
In the European countries, the United States of America and other advance countries, the student Union as a distinct body is recognized and accorded the privileges for Good Life all over. It enjoys social security packages and other palliatives so that they could withstand the abrasive crisis of Capitalism.
But in the third world nations, students Unionism are more of the words than actions. The students are factionalized on ethnic and religious boundaries. These primodial particularities are the causes of the failures of the students to obtain a better bargain from the state.
I would like the population of this forum to contribute to this great debate. Thanks.

I believe that student unions should be aware of the hazards and advantages of social media and devise a plan that takes both into consideration. For example, they may develop a social media strategy that specifies how it should be used and how to handle any disinformation or abuse. They might also instruct their members on how to use social media safely. Finally, they might ensure that they have other lines of communication that do not rely on social media, such as email, SMS, or in-person meetings. This way, they may still contact their members even if social media is disrupted or exploited. However, social media can be both a blessing and a burden for students unions. So it's advisable to let them know about the risks involved and the benefits of social media.
49  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Don't Give up on: April 04, 2024, 09:18:48 AM
I no fit kill myself because of another person success o because for this life, everything get time and season, everything na turn by turn, no be to dey do pass ourselves because say u won impress person or you dey competition with person wey be say ur time never come, if things never work out for u, no be for u to over do, wen ur time just click, everywhere go just, even those people wey won dey impress go dey jealous u self come envy u join. So anything wey we dey to in order to survive, make we do diligently, make we no lose hope, make we just focus on am and we go surely succeed one day so make we no come do pass ourselves come die in the process because this life na just one, make we dey take things bit by bit.
50  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Women cheap these days but benefiting more on: April 04, 2024, 08:40:55 AM
One area that I've found is that men and women typically have different perspectives on relationships. Many guys enter relationships hoping to find someone who would make them happy. They may seek out women who are attractive and enjoyable to be with, but they may not always regard them equally. This may create toxic tensions in relationships, in which the male feels owed to certain things from the woman and the woman feels obligated to perform in order to keep the man happy.

Many women, on the other hand, view partnerships in a broader sense. So, I believe it is critical to move beyond preconceptions and get to know them as persons.
51  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Be in charge of these three things on: April 04, 2024, 08:24:35 AM
Life is not without its challenges. When they come its your duty to allow those challenges to win you or you remain the winner... You don't let yourself get controlled by this three things;

PEOPLE= their opinions of you doesn't really matter, take objective look at every criticism know what it is that readjusted and leave people in their trying to wound your life.

MONEY = it comes and goes but it your duty to learn how to make it stay and use it and don't let use you.. Don't let money deny long term happiness... Because when you finally get money then you will know it's limites in life.

PAST EXPERIENCES = you have memory not trouble your soul but to avoid mistakes you did in the past should scenarios show up again...

DON'T LET YOU BE CONTROLLED BY
PEOPLE
MONEY
OR PAST EXPERIENCES

Without doubt. Let's begin with individuals and their thoughts. It's crucial to remember that people's perceptions of us are frequently shaped by their own personal experiences and prejudices, rather than who we truly are. For example, someone may criticize us based on how we seem or dress, yet this says nothing about our character or personality. Alternatively, someone may criticize us based just on a single error we did, without regard for context or circumstance. So it's critical to take people's opinions with a grain of salt and not let them define us. When we know what's truly important to us, it's simpler to disregard outside voices that attempt to guide us in a different way.
52  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Sometimes try to compromise... on: April 03, 2024, 09:45:46 PM
It is very important to hold on to what u have that is true but as my friend would always say too much carefulness can make u a fool. Most people today are seen as stingy people because they don't compromise what they have to another some fear the risk while some may say it is a life style and at the same time it is greed. I had a friend who used just 200 naira to stake a bet that totalled 200k a total of ten games with nice odds though he took the risk for those odds I felt like he was not going to even get up to three wins but fortunately he got eight and it was remaining two games that were to play at night when he checked his game they gave him an option to cash out 80k he refused he said he must wait for the game and at last he lost everything what can one say about that, it is greed.

Last week I saw free 2 USD on my yellow card I was like should I withdraw it or leave it cause dollar may rise and I also considered what if dollar drops Omo na Free money oo I withdrew the money that same evening dollar drop wetin no good so I would have compromised this free dollar cause of greed. Sometimes it is good to compromise and sometimes it is bad it depends how u get urs or how it comes and how u face it.

Absolutely, I believe that our own beliefs and aspirations have a significant part in decision-making. You indicated that your friend's objective was to make a lot of money and was prepared to take risks to achieve it. But it's critical to examine if the possible benefits of his action outweigh the hazards. In other words, it's not simply a question of whether he was prepared to compromise on his aim of generating money, but also of whether that goal was worth sacrificing on at all. But being able to compromise when it comes to job but not when it comes to family is very revealing because it appears that your profession is not as essential as your family.
53  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Technology a lasting solution to unemployed youths on: April 03, 2024, 09:36:37 PM
I believe the government has a critical role to play in assisting young people in accessing possibilities through technology. First and foremost, the government must invest in infrastructure, like as high-speed internet and low-cost gadgets, to ensure that everyone has access to the tools they require to engage in the digital economy. Second, the government ought to devote in education, training, and skills development initiatives to ensure that individuals have the skills required to prosper in the online economy. Finally, the government must develop a regulatory framework that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship while also encouraging the expansion of technology enterprises and start-ups. Without these things, young people will struggle to take advantage of opportunities through technology.
54  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Is Yahoo(Street)the last hope of a common man? on: April 03, 2024, 09:28:38 PM
Well, I no go talk say na yahoo be the last hope for our youth o, because Bitcointalk and other online stuffs dem dey wey person dey get money from, na just that so many people no won dey stress demselves dey write or dey post like us, dey just want fast fast money, na e mk dem come add am plus up, because as e be say na one person fit use jazz, carry get money without stress unlike us wey be say, we dey use our head dey type come post and to come even get merit join na war, unlike Yahoo wey be say once u get clients wey get money, dem don go lock am, de clients go dey pay dem on steady but we, na here we dey die, because we go dey suffer although na softwork from our comfort zone but e hard and dey stressful o, no wonder dem say, say nothing good comes out easy, na for this forum I see am and as we be better person like this, we no give up and we no dey involve ourselves for evil instead we hustle till our hustle pay too. So all this things dey make some people choose yahoo rather all this ones we dey do, so no be Yahoo be the last option for our street youth,  na just dem wey won cash out big.
55  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Market yourself and become visible on: April 03, 2024, 09:17:17 PM
You know this saying that, "everybody de thief but na who dem catch be the real thief" shouldn't only be used in the negative sense like what it normally connotes but in the real positive sense, everyone has brilliant ideas and skills but na who first showcase am de normally take the glory.

Sometimes I look at B lord and how he goes about showcasing his crypto and trading platforms on a regular basis and because of the visibility he has gotten, so many newbies and those interested in joining the crypto world would normally go after him, and from there he builds up a strong company of individuals that will depend on him for any crypto related transaction they want to do and he just easily multiply his income and becomes a billionaire in no time while their might be others with similar ideas that aren't making any effort to gain visibility.

Sometimes people can recommend you without your knowledge and what's normally the case is that they will either check your profile on LinkedIn or check you out on some social media platform to get some basic details about you which should have built some level of trust before seeing you in person. It's when you're looking for someone who will teach you a particular thing and then go online to search for it that you will know the importance of marketing yourself on all your social media handles because most of the recommendations you will get are people that have showcased their skill set on their handles and not those that are just skilled and limit it to self.

If you know how many automobile jobs come to Palmtech Group because of their method of gaining visibility on social media, you wouldn't want to keep your skills to yourself. Good enough, we have the marketplace on the forum that allows you to sell your skill out and the individual who needs it could easily patronize you. If you're skilled at a particular thing, market yourself as much as possible and it's going to be a sure way to multiply the benefits you get from your skill set.

It is vital to remember that promoting oneself is a long-term process that does not produce immediate results. It takes time to create connections and trust with your target audience. So, be patient and work on developing quality material and relationships over time. It may not be easy, but it will be worthwhile in the end. So, before you begin marketing yourself online, spend some time getting to know your intended audience. This does not mean appealing to everyone, rather than finding the people who are most likely to be interested in what you have to offer. You should also ensure that you are not exaggerating or establishing untrue assertions about your abilities or qualifications.
56  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Remembering our parents and guardians: Would you rather? on: April 03, 2024, 07:43:51 PM
Omo for me, I will say parents o, them later when I grow up, I will go and stay on my own to keep learning the remaining part I didn't learn from my parents because it's not everything they will feel comfortable sharing with us and we too, it's not everything we will share with them or ask them questions because they might be feeling shy likewise us, so having our experience is also good too at times but living with parents is the most exciting thing to witness because living with parents can be funny, annoying etc, except they are no more than I even prefer staying on my own than living with relatives which we don't pray for them to die,  and they will treat you with so much care.
57  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: While placing bet what comes your mind on: April 03, 2024, 07:15:21 PM
Yesterday was trying to place bet and during the process something in me keeps telling me to increase your wager do you know if you would hit something you never won before.. I was like is this how other people are being controlled by gambling or is it how it works? I said, no wonder some people gamble and finishes their allocation for the week or month. This can even lead someone to also go borrow if this feeling is not killed and stop, you can also see that this attributes in gambling addiction.

However, have you had this feeling while gambling before be it offline casino and online casinos?

It's true, it does happen to me especially if I succeed in Winning at first so I will be desired to stake high and it can even cost me to even go to the extent of borrowing money or even stealing my brother money. So it's a very bad behavior and just to make things right is by limit on how much I spent on gambling and also divert my attention to something else, that is something I enjoy doing apart from gambling such as reading, exercise, watching movies, spending time with my loves ones etc. Although it's not that really easy to limit or stop gambling but with the help from others like family members, etc and also with determination, we will overcome.
58  Other / Off-topic / Re: No interest in gambling if there is no profit or fun to be accountable. on: April 03, 2024, 07:03:37 PM
I believe it is critical to distinguish between games of chance and games of skill, particularly in the context of gambling. Games of chance rely only on luck, and the player has no influence over the outcome. This can be extremely irritating because the player has no control over the outcome. In contrast, skill games need a certain amount of strategy and decision-making. While luck remains a component, a smart player may make decisions that increase their odds of winning. This can make the game more appealing and rewarding to the player. It's just that we need to strike a balance in which you may enjoy the game even if you don't win every time.
59  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Decentralized vs Centralized Gambling....Which do you prefer? on: April 03, 2024, 06:55:22 PM
I prefer centralized gambling because from what I've seen decentralized contracts keep getting hacked over and over. If you check rekt.news it's just crazy.
Also there's other disadvantages. Decentralized transactions can get stuck, or suffer from very expensive fees like on ethereum for instance. So it's really counter intuitive to gamble on most platforms.

Also because of how centralized Web3 wallets are, it's easy to get hacked and not even notice it. Don't forget the Ledger web3 connector hack, that happen through just a github compromised account. It's crazy how weak the security of supposedly decentralized web3 infrastructure.

This event demonstrates that even hardware wallets, which are thought to be the most secure means to hold cryptocurrency assets, may be subject to assault. However, the problem did not affect Ledger's hot wallets, such as Ledger Live. This demonstrates that utilizing a hardware wallet is still a decent security solution, but users should be aware of the dangers and take extra measures such as storing their seed phrase and using a strong password, especially if they follow instructions. Even with all of these safeguards in place, there is always the risk of human mistake, as in the ledger incident, in which a single hacked GitHub account resulted in a large leak.
60  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has this ever happened to you as a gambler? on: April 03, 2024, 06:09:59 PM
Well, for me, it's difficult to state for certain what was going on in this situation. However, I believe it is crucial to acknowledge that this type of circumstance is not unusual. Gambling addiction is a very real and severe disease, with terrible implications for individuals who suffer from it. One of the most important things to know about gambling addiction is that it involves more than simply money. Gambling addiction is frequently associated with depression, anxiety, and relationship troubles. It is critical to get assistance if you or someone you love is battling with gambling addiction. There are several services accessible, and there's no shame in contacting for help. Also we should also be cautious of greediness, as it may lead to highly damaging behaviour if we are not vigilant and endeavour to prevent.
