Sorry to have left for now.  It was because idle notifications have not yet been implemented here.

It saved my bacon about 2 hours after I left, too...My host machine at KC MO Colo dropped its Internet connection for some unknown reason.  10 minutes (I'd prefer 5...) after it went offline, BTCGuild notified me that they had not received any shares from me.  I called the data center and it was back up in 5 minutes.  I'd have probably suffered 3 hours of downtime before noticing had I not received the automated notification.

When idle notifications are implemented, I will be back.  I love BitMinter!

Disagreements and arguments that end in apologies, forgiveness, and reconciliation from both parties? I thought we were on the internet. WTF is this shit?
Hilarious!  This would make a great signature.

How do I contact an admin?

When I set up my account, I used my CellNumber@vtext.com as the E-Mail address so I would get notifications as an SMS instead of an E-Mail.  However, my new phone truncates some of the message, so I can't see the majority of a confirmation link to change my payout address.  I'd like to change the E-Mail address on the account, but that gives me the same problem, a truncated confirmation link.

I can prove the "E-Mail address" is mine if the message is short enough that important information isn't truncated.

Send an email to webmaster@btcguild.com with the username and I can prepare a special confirmation link for your phone.
E-Mail sent.  Thanks!

how long was it from the time you got your first shipment to the second?
About 6 days.  Quite a surprise!

SMS even better, but certainly email would be a great first step.

Actually, come to think of it, I think you can email your phone number and get a text somehow.  I'll have to read up on that.
I'm on Verizon.  <10 digit phone number>@vtext.com is how it works for me, and I have my BitMinter E-Mail address setup to forward to that address.

Here is a Wikipedia article on how to do it with many carriers around the world.

Thanks!  domestic-number@txt.att.net is what I was looking for.  Smiley
One thing I would caution you about is to note that sometimes E-Mails have confirmation links that you need to click.  Ever since I got a Galaxy S4 (upgraded from a Droid4), the SMS messages get truncated.  I got all of it on the Droid4...Go figure.  As a result, I can't change my E-Mail address or BTC payout address at BTCGuild since I don't have all of the confirmation link.

That's why I would recommend setting up a normal E-Mail address to forward to your cell phone's SMS address.

Thanks Dr.  I have to say, after my miners were down for 10 hrs last night/this morning before I happened to check up on them, I might have to change pools just so I can get some notifications.  :\  Would really appreciate if you could get that feature on BitMinter soon!
+1

Getting this setup on a per-worker basis would be a godsend.  An E-Mail sent to me saying that the pool hasn't received any shares in the last 5 minutes from a specific worker would be like having a good friend always watching and ready to say to me, "Hey moron, your stuff stopped working! Fix it!" Smiley

Giga, would you mind if I ask where you get the fancy power cables that are hooked up to your Mini-Rigs?  Do they have L6 connectors?

Thanks,
WP

Yesterday J. Morgan got my rigs running on the hosting PC I sent to them, and it's been running rock stable since then (knock on wood).

However, if it starts giving me any stability issues, I will regretfully need to move to a different pool and either pay higher fees or give up the namecoins until this feature is implemented here.

I'm strongly hoping that things stay stable on my host PC so I can keep mining at this wonderful pool.

Can XPM be traded anywhere besides Vircurex?

Shamelessly included referral link in the URL  Smiley

I usually take a sheathed wire with the ends exposed and use that to do the short.  It feels a bit safer than a paperclip to me, but it probably doesn't make any difference.

Hi Doc,

Do you have an ETA on when E-Mail notification for offline workers might be implemented?

Thanks,
WP

Once this pool is merged mining NMC and has E-Mail notifications for when a worker goes offline, I'd like to point all my hash power here, presently 1 TH, but will be 3 TH whenever BFL finishes delivering my order.

The unboxing, if it matters: https://twitter.com/jgarzik/status/364453387057643521

Looking to run mine via Fedora Linux, on a laptop.  (Old laptops make great wireless/ethernet bridges, and they have USB too)

Although...  it is tempting to use of these as the "mining hub".  Just bought one at Fry's:  http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/motherboards/desktop-motherboards/nuc.html

I shipped an i3 Intel NUC to the hosting company (J. Morgan) to run six Mini-Rigs and six Singles (only have two Mini-Rigs so far).  They haven't set it up yet, but I expect it will run great.

They delivered two of my six Mini-Rigs to the hosting company on Friday.  Looking forward to the other four!

I was starting to feel like a mooch...  Glad I finally got a block for us with the new ASICs.

is the server down again?
Dang...The hosting company didn't setup my backup pool config properly, so my 1TH is dead in the water.  If they'd just hook up the hosting PC I sent them, I could fix it myself.  :-(

Edit:
My FPGA rigs at home appear to be mining on BitMinter, so maybe it's just a website issue?  If that's the case, perhaps my ASICs are still mining.

Edit 2:
Whew!  Website is showing activity again.
