It will be cool when you could have you car drive people around and make money when you are not using it, there could be a  service like uber for them.

I don't know if I am the only one with this problem but today the website has become really slow and it takes about 30s for the page to reload. It could be from high load you might need to get some more servers.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC good investment? on: March 22, 2015, 03:25:33 PM
LTC is only here because bitcoin fanboy want it to be. If they wanted they would already 51% attack it.
Like they did with feathercoin/worldcoin and many more.

The true reason why Bitcoin is falling is, there're still to many thiefs and scammers in this community.

Why kill LTC? People who can do that actually are making money of cryptocurrencies. They will kill not only LTC, but their future profits as well. Otherwise it's true... too many scammers since 2014.

I don't think anyone is going to deliberately kill LTC, it is just kind of fading away.

Excatly for ltc the price is related to the hype around it more hype higher price, the hype fades so does the price.

If we did not meet minimum do our posts get rolled over into nextweek payments or do they never get credited?
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC good investment? on: March 22, 2015, 03:09:49 PM
I find ltc too unpredictable it has gone as high as $50 and as low as $2. I would stay away because of that. Although it is pretty low right now so there is not much more it can go down.
46  Economy / Auctions / Re: Multiple domain auction! on: March 22, 2015, 02:47:20 PM
So weak interest? It's cheap now and nobody wants it. When I put higher prices, some people post like they hate me because of it. Where are they now?
Can't believe that people are just trolling about it here.
If I for any reason cancel this auction, would you ask me "why did you do it"?
As I think I am going to cancel it and sell all on Namecheap auction.
Why? As there are people at least buying @10-15$ per domain which is much better price and at least sale is 100% at that price.
If no more offers will cancel it.

Do you mean cancelling current bids too? You shouldn't do that, you already committed to your own set of rules.
I see no problem if you cancel the auction for items that haven't received any bids yet.

Do not worry, will not cancel for the ones you made bids on.

Findgirls.org is pretty funny.
How come?

I don't know why, it is just so different from the other domains that are being sold.

Global adoption will be slower in places like china and india where there are a lot of cars and the income is not very high resulting in people keeping cars for a very long time.

Actually I think that I probably won't own a car until most cars are driverless and electric, so it is good to see the tech coming to market so soon (so it will be really good when it is time for me to buy)

Boo to electric!  (Posted selfishly by someone who has had their income affected by the low price of oil)   Grin

I see were you come from but it is the way the market will move in the future. It will be a while until most of the cars on the road are electric like 10-20 years because of how long they last so at least for you there is a bright side. Oil will still be used in lots of things like plastics so it will not be completely useless once gas cars are gone.

I don't know about 10-20 years...

Oslo, Norway is leading the way. You can see cars with "EL" license plate everywhere, and there are so many of them, that there are talks of discontinuing the privilege given to the electric cars, such as use of commuter/bus field and free entry into the capital. And the chargers in central Oslo are almost on every corner.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plug-in_electric_vehicles_in_Norway

Globally adoption will be far slower, Cars sold today in a lot of countries are mostly gas and cars are commonly used for 10+ years so I don't think my estimate was far off.

In the past LTC has gone up and down with bit coin but this is not the case anymore as the price relative to btc has gone down a lot. I would stay away from alt coins as they don't seem to be as stable as they once were.

Are the payments going out soon?

I think so... the calculations have been done..

Ya I saw I just thought that they would be sent out earlier. I think they were sent out earlier last week.

58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Double spending while spending bitcoin on stores on: March 13, 2015, 05:33:46 PM
OP's scenario seems to describe a race attack:

Quote
Race attack

Traders and merchants who accept a payment immediately on seeing "0/unconfirmed" are exposed to a double-spend occurring, if there was a fraudulent attempt that successfully communicated one transaction to the merchant yet communicated a different transaction that spends the same coin that was first to eventually make it into the block chain.

Merchants can take precautions (e.g., disable incoming connections, only connect to well connected nodes) to lessen the risk of a race attack but the risk cannot be eliminated. Therefore, the cost/benefit of the risk needs to be considered when accepting payment on 0/unconfirmed when there is no recourse against the attacker.

The research paper Two Bitcoins at the Price of One finds that the protocol allows a high degree of success by an attacker in performing race attacks. The method studied in the research paper depends on access to the merchant's Bitcoin node which is why that even prior to this paper, recommendations for merchants include disabling incoming connections and to choose specific outgoing connections.

Would double spending cause the network to undo both spend attempts? That is how I thought I works, would someone correct me on this if I am wrong.

The network will see both transaction attempts and invalidate one of them. The other transaction attempt should proceed normally.

Is it possible to know which one it will invalidate or is random?

Miners can choose which transaction to include in the next block. Most pools will choose the one that came first although some (e.g. BitUndo) will choose the one with the higher fee. So in most situations, the second transaction would be invalidated and never included in the blockchain.

If you want to read a good explanation of how it works, see the first answer below:

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/26926/could-any-standard-fee-transaction-be-double-spent-by-using-a-higher-fee

The bitundo actually sounds like a good idea but wouldn't they have to find the block for it to work?

Yes, they would need to find a block. Fortunately, they are a tiny pool with a tiny hashrate so their success rate is very low.

From their FAQ:

Quote
Q: How likely is it to undo my transaction

A: The likelihood is approximately the same as the percentage of mines using bitundo. Right now, this is pretty low.

I guess if you make a large mistake then it is probably better than nothing!

It isn't really possible to know (although fees could make one tx more likely than another to confirm).

But assuming that the fees are the same then it would effectively be random (as it will depend on which tx got included in the best PoW chain).

So that makes it hard to use it as a way to change your mind about a transaction, which is a good thing.
