41  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: March 01, 2011, 10:05:32 PM
Problem still not resolved. When will be resolved, I will update topic.

mtgox.com not replying to me for 2 days now.

We need to cross examine mtgox.com to see if your story match up with his.

If I will be lying , mtgox.com will let you know, I think. Because, I can guarantee that he is monitoring this thread, but Don't posting very much.

Also, I am ready to put this problem to court carusele.

By the way, to all those mtgox.com fans: Where you think mtgox.com going to put those 45 000 USD, if he refuse to give it back to me, to government treasury or into his self pocket?

I was contacted yesterday with my lawyers. They offered to take strict actions against mtgox.com to get him to court. And I will do this, if we don't resolve all this peacefully in one week.

I am asking mtgox.com to unblock my mtgox.com account for 1 day, because I need to take screenshots of my account as a proof , what is in it. I am not going to withdraw funds or trade.
Your lawyers told you to take screenshots as proof?  Cheesy  Here is my advice: Get new lawyers.

Of notary eyes.
I must gather all possible proof.
44  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 27, 2011, 01:00:10 PM
I don't have any connections to BCEmporium , I don't know who he is .  He debate freely.
I can "say" that  "brucewagner" is connected to mtgox.com or maybe he is same person too, because he do not discuss but blaming, but I don't.

-------
I send my ID scan to mtgox.com.

I was contacted yesterday with my lawyers. They offered to take strict actions against mtgox.com to get him to court, They giving me almost 100% guarantee, that I win, but all process can take minimum 6 months.
And I will do this, if we don't resolve all this peacefully in one week.

Also, does mtgox.com blocked account of that member from who was money "stolen" same day, or that member manipulate his account freely? If mtgox.com don't blocked , then this will be strong proof, that something wrong. mtgox.com must block both accounts, until problem not resolved.

Vladimir,

Toslti? Wasn't that one of those involved on that BTC "backup" scam?
Is it Baron the same or you confused nicks?

My confusion, I apologise. Will edit my post.

And the plot thickens....   Yes, Tolsi was the accomplice Newbie forum user to Hummer.  Hummer was the Newbie forum user promoting the scam "Backup your Bitcoin Waller File to your Gmail & Dropbox" app... which would actually send your wallet file to the Scammer thief and delete yoir copy of it!

See
http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3596.msg50879#msg50879

I was wondering about the similarity in the writing style between "BCEmporium" and "Baron"....

After 22 pages of this, did anyone at all notice that both accounts are not only brand new...  but both appear to have been created exclusively for THIS thread.

Baron.  Created February 21.    Posts only in this thread.
BCEmporium.  Created February 22.    Posts only in this thread.

Same writing style.   Both defending "Baron" and claiming wrongdoing by mtgox.

Are we becoming lazy about spotting suspicious Newbie users who suddenly appear and start posting like mad...  all on one thread...  all defending some scammer or other...?

@Vladimir.

 I'd love to know why you slipped up and called Baron, Toslti.

Does the name Baron remind you of Toslti?    Is Toslti such an extremely common name that you would remember it?    Personally, I had to look it up every single time I write it because it is such an odd unique name to me.

Oh my god, you must be joking.
So everyone who claiming wrongdoing by mtgox, everyone accused of beeing scamer? And will be conected to me?

Where does mtgox display an IP address?  www.mtgox.com resolves to 74.52.143.58 which appears to be an ISP in Houston TX...

Because that's where the site is hosted, but the guy isn't a Texan.

maybe he is traveling.
47  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 25, 2011, 01:10:26 AM
If Baron needs to lead us on a wild goose chase and make all this crap about "uh, what's a block chain".  - I really don't know what is block chain, because I am not trying to master all technical details of bitcoin at least for now.

If by now you don't know what the block chain is, you have no business trading 45000 BTC.

I never trade for 45 000  BTC, it's my LRUSD balance.

Also I don't have any troubles by using bitcoin , without knowing who is block chain.
48  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 25, 2011, 01:05:34 AM
MtGox said:

There is pretty strong evidence that this guy was involved in some theft of BTC. I'm trying to talk to him to make absolutely certain.

What more of an explanation does MtGox owe us?  We aren't the legal system he's subject to.  If because of this we somehow think MtGox will rip us off too, then we may exercise our right to withdraw our balances and discontinue using his services.  I haven't seen Baron make even a halfway credible or coherent argument as to how these accusations don't have any merit

If my MtGox money disappeared, I would have no problem coherently explaining how I got it there, in two sentences or less, to the satisfaction of an attorney, a judge, or a jury.  The whole idea that $45k can't buy a lawyer is nonsense.  I have hired lawyers for plenty of things and doubt I've ever spent anywhere close $45k in my entire life on lawyers.  A small legal fee just to come up with a coherent letter to Jed, cc: in plain view on the forum, explaining in plain English why the funds should be returned would be priceless... if in fact they should be returned to him.  Here in America that would cost no more than a couple hundred bucks to have prepared by a law office.  If that's too much to ask from Baron, well, to hell with him.

If Baron needs to lead us on a wild goose chase and make all this crap about "uh, what's a block chain"... cheers to Jed for doing what he did.  If I were Jed, I would stash that money somewhere safe and keep my mouth shut, until someone stepped forward with a credible claim to it.  It sounds like that's exactly what he is doing.

I was on my lawyers. He told me to try solve this situation peacefully, what I am doing.

I don't know how much you pay to lawyers , but probably you don't know how much takes to hire very good lawyer.  Only consultations cost for me ~100 USD/hour. Plus calculate court expenditure,  time used , what you get?

If Baron needs to lead us on a wild goose chase and make all this crap about "uh, what's a block chain".  - I really don't know what is block chain, because I am not trying to master all technical details of bitcoin at least for now.

what is that, this is company or what?

Mtgox doesn't know everything.

I agree, but it's very strange for me.

There is no problem, just trying to get the full picture. You forgot your IRC nick, channel name and nick of scammer. Fair enough. Is there any logs for this channel? That could be useful.
Quote
Please also explain about those "links" .
Well, you asked how mtgox know? Simple, you withdraw money to address A, then you send money to address B. Scammer also sends money to address B. Mtgox, me, you, everybody can see where you send money. In other words, we can see this link.

http://blockexplorer.com/address/1DVQEpTFjxYpZMVy4Bam9MCxeGEtmMmQCh
http://blockexplorer.com/address/19n8ogD8imviHn9iZSpmUgdZqjTuDxzDwv

So I don't see any problem about that. (links)

Yes I forgot because it was more than month ago. (IRC)

Sorry I have to leave forum today, I will be tommorrow , I need to eat sometimes .

...
7. I meet man in IRC who offer me to make deal, he send me ~9000$ BTC I send him ~3000$ liberty reserve (simple trade) minus some fees, I accepted, trade was made. btc rate in that day was ~0.30/BTC.
8. After month after trade was made (with man from IRC) I noticed that my mtgox.com acount is blocked.
9. Mtgox.com starting asking from where I get those 9000$ BTC, I explained.

After the deal with the stranger, have you done any BTC deposits to your mtgox account?

No.

How exactly did mtgox refer to the 9000$ BTC in question, in their inquiry?

He blocked my mtgox.com account, and started asking from where i received 9000$ , I explained him.

Did you specifically generate a new address for that transaction (deal with the stranger), and have you ever used that same address to receive bitcoins before or afterwards?

I was "playing" with bitcoin client , I created some addreses (curently I don't realy understand why there is function to create new addreses ). I was using one bitcoin address with mtgox.com and second for trade (with that man from IRC), to trace money income into my bitcoin client. I never used those addreses for any other activiti. I also have some more addreses in my bitcoin client, but they not in use.

Is it possible that you used (accidentally or otherwise) the same address you used with the stranger for any other transaction (e.g. mtgox withdrawals), before or afterwards?

NO. only for testing  purpose. ( I send money from my one address to second my address ).
55  Economy / Exchanges / Re: mtgox.com has blocked my account with 45 000 USD in it! on: February 25, 2011, 12:11:50 AM
let's I give you example.

Imagine you creating account somewhere and you need to creat new password.
You can remember that password for a week or little bit more, but not for months. So normally you write that password somewhere on paper or elsewhere(because you don't use that password usally ). Because I don't write it no where I don't remember.

Please also explain about those "links" .

In that days I was using IRC, I said that.
Yes, but that's not my question.

Let me try again.

1. Why did you make 3 trades with scammer and NOT just 1?
2. Why can you not remember IRC channel, your nick OR your scammers nick?
3. You had to visit the channel 3 times, correct? Since you traded 3 times?

Quote
I don't understand what you trying to say about this your statistic, can you explain?
I want to know if it is true. It's not statistics, it's your bitcoin pocket, YOUR wallet.
I want you to see if there is any mistake, if so, please correct it so that we can have a clear picture of what's going on here.

And also, it explains how mtgox found out about you.

What problem you see in here? ofcourse after I created my address I tested it by sending my own money to it, where is problem?
The scammer sent you 3 payments, not 1.
2011-01-07 02:49:29 - 3134.8 BTC (in) ---> From scammer
2011-01-08 10:27:16 - 3174.6 BTC (in) ---> From scammer
2011-01-09 10:47:30 - 3096.9 BTC (in) ---> From scammer

Why? And if you look at the dates, each payment was 1 day appart. In other words, you had to go back to IRC 3 times, correct?

right, I was in IRC about 5 days, I was using same nickname and chanel, but now I can't remeber what nickname and channel was.because I don't use IRC anymore.

Guy in IRC sends money to: 1DVQEpTFjxYpZMVy4Bam9MCxeGEtmMmQCh (First seen: 2011-01-07)

Let's just name this address the "red wallet".

Red Wallet:
This is the wallet where scammer sent money.
Balance:
BTC: 9 506.33

Transactions:
2011-01-07 01:01:26 - 100 BTC (in) ------> Receives money from his green wallet Oooppss... we have a link!
2011-01-07 01:01:26 - 100 BTC (out) ----> Sends money to ?
2011-01-07 02:49:29 - 3134.8 BTC (in) ---> From scammer
2011-01-08 10:27:16 - 3174.6 BTC (in) ---> From scammer
2011-01-09 10:47:30 - 3096.9 BTC (in) ---> From scammer

Green Wallet:
This address was used to receive money from mtgox. It first appeared a day before the 9000 btc transaction that came into the red wallet. This confirms the story so far.
Balance:
BTC: 4 692.64

Transactions:
2011-01-06 23:57:14 - 0.05 BTC (in) ----> The free money faucet probably
2011-01-07 00:55:03 - 100 BTC (in) -----> From mtgox I assume.
2011-01-07 01:01:26 - 100 BTC (out) ----> Test spend to the red wallet Oooppss... we have a link!
2011-01-07 01:20:01 - 120 BTC (in) -----> From mtgox?
2011-01-07 01:35:57 - 3057.6 BTC (in) ---> From mtgox?
2011-01-20 22:02:26 - 400 BTC (in) ------> From mtgox?
2011-01-22 11:25:47 - 1015 (in) --------> From mtgox?

Now that it's obvious and crystal clear how mtgox linked those account, the first question that comes to my mind is, why is the trade transactions with guy on IRC spread accross 3 different days? Did you not trade it all at once? And if not, you must have gone back to the IRC channel at least 2 times, correct?

If you had to go back to IRC twice after the first trade, how is it possible to not remember either:
1. Channel name
2. Your nick
3. Scammers nick

And why is there absolutely no browser history from 7th of January 2011 that you can use to refresh your lost memory?

I don't understand what you trying to say about this your statistic, can you explain?

small correction I have total 14 000 BTC in main bitcoin client.

He says that you accepted those ~ 9000BTC in chunks and it took three days, so how come you do not remember who sent them to you. You must have been communicating with the seller within the time of the three transactions, right?

right, I was in IRC about 5 days, I was using same nickname and chanel, but now I can't remeber what nickname and channel was.because I don't use IRC anymore.

This whole thing amazes me.

If I lost an honest $45,000 to MtGox, I would be the first to find an attorney and start with the legal guns blazing.  Assuming I had $45k to blow around on BTC in the first place.  Someone who is resourceful enough to have $45k for Bitcoins is probably resourceful enough to engage counsel in a foreign jurisdiction when the law is on their side.  I wouldn't even dream of coming to a forum and trying to argue a case that big...

...unless I had stolen the money and had no other options.

You are forgetting, that for Baron 45,000 USD is nearly nothing. Wink

I never said that.

Quote from: Baron
why I deposited "so much" to mtgox.com account?
I don't think that it's "very much" .  How you imagine trading? trading with 100 USD or 1000 USD, how much you will earn profit from such trading portfolio? 10 or 100 USD per month . Maybe it's big sum for you, maybe you live somewhere in africa , where peoples  lifes from 100 USD per month? I focus on big profit, I don't waste time with dealing with small portfolio, because it's time wasting. I better go for walk with my girlfriend.

Smiley

not very much for trading.  it's two diferent things.
