Still interested in this. BFL?
45  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] C2Q/4GB DDR2/VX450 on: May 12, 2012, 03:16:35 AM
I have some parts left over from a build that I scavenged for my new PC.

Intel C2Q 8200: 13 5.5 BTC shipped

2x2GB G.Skill DDR2 (F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ): 6.5 BTC shipped SOLD FOR 5.999999 to RickPicker

Corsair VX450 PSU: 5 BTC shipped (after shipping, I'm practically giving it away!) SOLD
This is the super amazing model that isn't made any more. Replaced by the cx430 I think. But anyways I just love this thing so much, I can't bear it just collecting dust  Cry

All prices listed are for the CONUS only. Will ship to AK and HI for additional charge. No international shipping.

I have heat under xDGDZEx

Also just signed up on bticoin-otc

I am willing to use an escrow service of your choosing (or I can choose).

Or, if you have good rep (Heat, bitcoin-otc, etc) I would be willing to cross ship.

Just PM me if you have any additional questions.

EDIT: Also I reserve the right to adjust the price (both up and down) if the price varies more than 10% from $4.90

It is a bit disappointing, and odd because one of the main changes to the 2.4 branch was better icarus detection.

So maybe it's a bit ironic that it detects icarus better, but BFL not at all anymore  Tongue

This may be surprising to some, but I'm generally more interested in the slower firmware.

I've replaced the stock fans with (much) quieter ones, accepting that some units will occasionally throttle due to the lowered CFM. By loading the 800 or 792 firmware onto those marginal units, I'm able to eliminate throttling and increase their effective speed.

The various firmware versions give me a way to optimize speed vs. noise that wasn't available before. Much appreciated.

I too, am glad for this. Three of my singles would do this thing where they would clearly throttle (reduced output on cgminer) but they wouldn't blink their LEDs. I just installed the 816 MH firmware and now they are sitting at 811 MH and are rock solid. Actually increased my (avg) hash rate from ~6200 to ~6500

So...update.

I spent a couple hours on it last night. I could not get any meaningful information other than it saying that it failed to detect bitforce, even when I manually specified ports (ie -S bitforce:\\.\COMx)

Went back to 2.3.6 and am having no problems.

And still couldn't find any logs generated. Oh well, works great now!

With those changes, now this

50  Other / Off-topic / Re: Problems with CGMiner 2.4.1 and Singles? on: May 10, 2012, 11:27:19 PM
And as an aside, 2.3.6 works perfectly.

But as you all can see, those things were done. I think it was epoch that told me how to use the ports above 9 originally...

Is anyone else having this problem? Just downloaded version 2.4.1, and saw this

Couldn't find any reference to this problem in the cgminer thread, so I thought I would ask here.
53  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL "EasyMiner" Released. Reviews? on: May 10, 2012, 05:47:17 AM
My single got the new bitstream, but doesn't seem to be going any faster. I dunno if cgminer has an indicator for the number of times it has throttled, but it is currently at 826/803 5s/avg speed. The test went through without a hitch, but it sure isn't going at 860+ mhash/s.

Weird story, but one of my rev2's did this, while the other didn't. However all rev3's took the new firmware.
54  Other / Off-topic / Re: 864 mh/s firmware release - Butterfly Labs on: May 10, 2012, 05:45:43 AM
Flashed one cool one of mine and it is now 857 up from 816.  Temps still around 56 degrees. Grin  Very nice work BFL.

Flashed one of mine and also getting 857, but my temps are 49C.

Third person also getting 857 MH. Out of 6 rev3's and 2 rev2's, three of the rev3's will run (at 857) without throttling.

Temps are ~55,57,62C on the ones with the higher clocks.

Also interesting note, all units are spaced roughly the same distance apart, and the 857 units do not have significantly higher temps than the stock units.

So I tested out the 864 MH experimental firmware on 2 Rev3 singles and this is what I got.

Also, the status of the second one is wrong, it was done uploading firmware before I began the test.
56  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Using COM ports above 9 on: May 02, 2012, 02:36:17 AM
holy mining batman! it works!

Thanks so much for this. I had given up and moved it to my laptop, because it just used ports 3-9. When I tried on my main rig, I ended up pushing the singles on to ports 2 and 3 which were already in use...that didn't work out so well, I got bsod 6 times a day.

So in conclusion, you are a wizard.

Yeah, I want to make sure I'm not going to fry anything when in hook up 140cfm deltas  Grin

Hopefully the overclocking functionality on easyminer will be good.
58  Other / Off-topic / Max power draw for the fan header on the BFL single? on: May 01, 2012, 04:53:51 AM
I'm thinking about replacing the fans on my singles with something that has a bit more oomph. Are there any published specs on this to anyone's knowledge?
59  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quality of BFL power adapters on: April 30, 2012, 05:44:27 AM
Thanks for the tips on the PSU's guys, but I already was pretty sure that was the route that I wanted to go eventually. But considering that only 7 out of 8 of my singles have power now, it's just forcing my hand a bit sooner than I was expecting. I will probably end up getting a 80+ gold PSU and some stuff from Cablez, if just to reduce the rat's nest of wires that is my room right now.  Tongue
60  Other / Off-topic / Quality of BFL power adapters on: April 29, 2012, 07:32:27 PM
I just thought that I would put this up for people to see. I have 8 singles (Rev 2 and 3) and chose to include the power adapters because I didn't have a PSU to use them with.

Long story short, out of 8, 1 made a horrendous burning smell when powered on, and 1 died within a week. So that is a 25% failure rate from my experience.

I get that they are cheap, I wasn't expecting much in the way of efficiency, but goodness...for $600, I was hoping that the power adapters would last.

To their credit, BFL has been making an effort to improve CS and I had one replacement in my hands 3 days after I received my singles and discovered the defective adapter. However, when the second one failed, I sent them another email, offering to ship back the defective ones for proof that I wasn't just taking them for a ride. Still haven't heard back after ~2 weeks.  Undecided

Just an FYI
