41  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Anyone have any luck under clocking memory on 6990's ? on: March 06, 2012, 03:27:46 PM
I've read a bunch of threas from here and around the web, best seems to be the 100 mhz below unless you do a bios flash and then run them on linux?

any development for windows 7 32 or 64 bit?

Windows: MSI Afterburner.

Is Afterburner capable of breaking the 125Mhz memory/gpu clock difference on a 6xxx card to lower the memory further ?

I haven't tried it for quite some time now (ever since switching from GUIminer to CGMiner 4+ months ago) but I have some 6xxx cards that I would love to get the memory lower on if it's possible and are all Windows7 x64 machines.

Could you share a bit of info ? does it require 'unofficial overclocking' to be enabled ?

MSIA will look like it does it but if you actually hook a power meter up you'll see nothing's really changing.
42  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.3.1 on: March 04, 2012, 10:48:51 PM
I should have stated that I set values engine=775 mem=300 volts=.95 fan=40 prior to saving. The only
setting that is actually being saved is my user/pass/pool info. Nothing else shows as being saved when I
open cgminer.conf in notepad. If I close and run cgminer from the command line again (with no switch) it
will remember everything but my fan setting. When I restart the computer, the only info it remembers is
the user/pass/pool info, which makes sense because that's all that's being written to the cgminer.conf file.

My issue is what I'm doing wrong so that I'm only saving the user/pass/pool info and nothing else. I've
also tried editing in the other settings in cgminer.conf in notepad but that seems to have no effect, it just remembers the pool info. Originally, I started it up with a .bat file with the user name and pass if that makes a difference.

Keep in mind that when the first single arrived it's specs were vastly different than advertised (20w vs 85w).

You also have to figure the opportunity cost of the 30k you are setting aside for 6 months? while the difficulty increases.

Is there a step I'm missing to save settings? I use S,W,Enter from the menu to save the configuration as cgminer.conf but it does not appear to save my settings in the cgminer.conf file. It just looks like below. Also when I enter in values and save, they do not take when I start up with cgminer -c cgminer.conf

45  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA development board "Icarus" - 3rd batch payment start. on: March 01, 2012, 09:22:31 PM

You'd need another board with usb to host it. Also it would probably have power problems mining just from looking at it.

That's about right for the 7970 if it's stock. Most people are running them about 20% oc'ed, which is why you see the ~650 numbers.
47  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: When is the 7990 supposed to be released? on: February 27, 2012, 08:08:32 PM
No way a 7990 gets 1350 mh/s. We can dream though.
48  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: ASUS P8P67 WS motherboard, anyone using these and what set-up? on: February 25, 2012, 02:10:19 AM
I have 7 gpu's running on the P55 using win7x64, 11.12 driver and 2.5sdk. Best to use 2.4/2.5, SDK 2.6 is for 7 series.

...I think I just got hard....just a little....LOL

What board model/manufacturer is this ? I am DESPERATELY searching for something that is 5+ GPU/Windows7 x64 - friendly.......

Could you please share your setup for that rig, including the use of any MODs (cable/pin mods etc) required to get the GPUs recognized ?

Thanks in advance,
bitlane.

From reading his post, it's a ASUS P7P55 WS board and he sets it up by putting a single gpu card in the x16 slot and dual gpu cards in the other 3 for 7 total.

It's very possible to get 5MH/W out of a GPU. The reason why people don't do it much is that space is usually limited. In that case, you'd rather have 1 rig than 2 more efficient undervolted rigs. I think the main reason these look attractive (to some) is the space/convenience factor. Otherwise, on a $/mh/s or $/mh/w basis they aren't that compelling.
50  Other / Off-topic / Re: Paypal weakness found on: February 20, 2012, 05:36:39 AM
That wasn't a chargeback. Someone just transferred $1000 from your bank to your paypal acct. You could have just transferred it back once it got into paypal. It doesn't sound like fraud because if it was, it would have instantly gone to another paypal acct other than yours for spending.

If this starts becoming a problem im sure all the exchange sites will start hosting with providers such as PRQ

PRQ?

prq.se

a Swedish hosting company
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Has anyone undervolted a Sapphire 6990? on: February 05, 2012, 06:55:45 AM
I've tried trixx, AB and cgminer and none will drop the voltage on this card. I've had success with 5870s but with the 6990 in cgminer it says that the setting has been taken, but it hasn't.
53  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: January 31, 2012, 09:34:53 PM
735mh/s
1x6990 880/600

Maybe should trade it in for 5970s looking at others numbers.
54  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 50 BTC Per Block to 25 in 2012 !?!?!?!?! on: January 31, 2012, 09:23:07 PM
Realistically, when it happens a bunch of people will shut down their rigs b/c of electricity costs, then the difficulty will go down. So although the blocks will be only 25btc it will be easier to get them. Similar to what happened when the $ value of the btc crashed.
55  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 5870 heatsink on: January 31, 2012, 09:20:23 PM
You can just pull the shroud off, cut the closed oem sinks so they look like normal ones at the top and install your own fans. Hurts the resale on the cards though.
