41  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst mistake you did with Bitcoin? on: October 25, 2015, 06:04:48 AM
My biggest mistake was not investing $200 when a friend of mine told me about btc a long time ago.  I thought it was monopoly money and never really paid it much attention at that time.  Boy am I kicking myself in the butt for that huge mistake as I wood have been very comfortable right now...

52  Economy / Computer hardware / WTS Antminer S4 $450 SOLD on: October 07, 2015, 03:16:43 PM
I have a great S4 for sale that is in good working condition. The box has a few small blemishes but is a true workhorse. I have a btcjam loan that I want to get ahead on payments and this sale will help me do so. I am asking $450. The beaglebone on this unit is powered by a cellphone charger but does not affect the performance or reliability of this miner. I don't need to sell this miner but hey a few payments ahead of the loan would be nice too. A picture of the miner and screen shot of it hashing can be seen here: https://hashclub.org/topic/873/wts-antminer-s4/3
this miner was also rented and the stats can be seen here: http://rentrig.co/rigs/16605. Buyer pays shipping and escrow is ok as long as buyer pays fee.

55  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining rigs rental is that profitable? on: October 05, 2015, 06:33:08 AM
I had just left it since i dont understand all things i must do ,i made worker and a pool but the message from last rent they say is sucessfull i dont have a peny at my stratum pool soo i lost 20k satoshis on in ,and the first loan around 400k satoshis soo its enought for me to stay away from it.I had asked myself why to rent something you can use to mine and profit by yourself,i guess they earn more renting then mining but well without a roi the program wouldnt work,soo some of them are getting profit .

The owners of the rigs are the one's that get the profit mainly.   Most renters are either solo miners or alt miners.  Alt miners are a little harder to predict ROI as they very so much.  Some who mine an altcoin at right time and sell later on might make bank.  But others can loose money.

Places like most rentals are higher then what the rig would bring mining BTC so there is that premium.   But I am suprised quite a lot nicehash/westhash is under BTC price.  But add fee's and pool fees almost always you are going to lose money if mining BTC and paying in BTC.
And this is why I decided renting my miners was more lucrative tan mining btc directly at any pool. There are exceptions to this bit I don't have the time myself to mine the most profitable coin right now all the time because it changes more often than what my schedule will allow me to follow.  As many before have pointed out, more times than none renting miners/hasrate is less efficient than buying/trading for the coin you want to mine.

Well Kano has been good so i didn't even get tempted to rent;

30 Day Average
0.00957791
0.00980846
0.00980846

Even with the current slump, its still more than the 0.0090 i saw i could get on mining rig rentals and nicehash has been paying very pool for Sha256 lately.

It sound kind of a hassle to have to deal with people with rental contacts too.
How many ths is that payout for 1?

30 days average is per TH/s/day.

59  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC Antminer S1 not really mining on: October 02, 2015, 03:13:25 PM
Can you get me a screenshot of the miner status tab? Are you solo mining? Basically if you're in a proper pool, you should be getting accepted shares. A couples per minutes. Give me more information Smiley
*snip pics*

The reason is because you're pointing your SHA(example Bitcoin) miner to a Scrypt(example Litecoin) port(7777). BTC is 8888. Change your url to stratum+tcp://us-east.multipool.us:8888 and it will work.

The proper url's depending on the algo are listed a bit down the page;
https://www.multipool.us/index.php

Alright, I'll try that when I get home. It does occasionally mine script, just off and on... If I remember correctly, it wouldn't really mine BTC either. Like I said, I'll try it when I get home and share my results.
FYI a sha256 miner will never mine scrypt, ever. You may be seeing the miner trying to getwork from the stratum server but it doesn't mean it's mining.  Don't take this as condescending I am just making you aware is all.
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why you mostly like bitcoin compare to other digital currency? on: October 02, 2015, 02:39:43 PM
Btc is my favorite because it has a greater following imho. More people take btc than any other crypto. Also when you refference btc most people can relate it as a crypto vs saying I hold (insert altcoin name here)...
