41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Store data on the "Blockchain"? on: February 22, 2017, 08:43:03 AM
Guys, I have a business case and I would like to ask the community which solution could help.

Lets say there is a company and they want to store very sensitive personal data but instead to store the data themself, they assign another company to store the data for them. They outsource the storing of the data because if they get hacked, the reputation damage would be too high. Is there a blockchain offering such a service? I was thinking about MaidSafe.

Thanks

I haven't read a lot about Exodus but I also don't understand why I should put my fct into Exodus. It is a desktop wallet? Why should it be more safe than a professional exchange like polo? Im open for other arguments...

Ive heard a podcast from McAffee and he is saying that ONLY a hard wallet with a OWN display is 100% safe. Everything else can be hacked. I wait until Trezor is adding Factom...

I'm also one of the testers and can give you my view on it, how I plan to use it.

First: If you store funds on an exchange you don't have the private keys but they have. That's the most important aspect.

Second: I personally don't feel safe to store funds in any case on an online-device. I wouldn't use the Factom-wallet to store FCT and I also won't use exodus to store FCT.

What I did in the past, and with exodus it's much more fluent in future:

I generate a keypair offline, whenever I buy Factoids I send those to a cold-address and I only import a private key if I want to do a transaction - let's say back to Poloniex.

Why is Exodus so good? Because it's fast. I don't need to download the blockchain and wait until it's fully synced. I just open the wallet, type in or copy-paste the private key, funds show up and are ready to transact. Even if my device would be compromised, a potential hacker wouldn't be fast enough.

And in any case, also if funds are stored on a computer with exodus, it's much safer than storing it on any exchange. That's really something I wouldn't ever do when it's about more money. The number of hacked exchanges is much too high to ever feel safe and the Bitfinex-hack has proved that even exchanges with very good reputation are vulnerable.

You convinced me tempus. I always like your approach on analyzing stuff.

This token can easily more from $1 to $5 than $5 to $10.

I don't understand how you come to the conclusion a token can more easily 5x than it can 2x.

I also don't understand why the coin price is relevant. The market cap is the important number. That means the coin price multiplied by the coins issued.

1. Are the Databits a own blockchain?
2. Private or Public Blockchain?
3. Is it possible to mine them?

Thx for some clarification

1 + 2 = Counterparty/ BTC
3. No

That means they are using the Counterparty Blockchain. Is the counterpart blockchain a private or public blockchain? Is it possible to mine counterparty?

Counterparty Blockchain is public blockchain, which is based on bitcoin blockchain. Counterparty can't be mined, they have proof of burn. You can buy XCP in poloniex: https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_xcp

What is special about the Counterparty Blockchain? That you can build private blockchains on top of Counterparty?

55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin / Blockchain in connected furnitues (IoT)? on: February 03, 2017, 06:49:07 PM
but i have to ask.
you keep mentioning the word "furniture"

do you mean like a sofa or table in someones home.
do you mean like a sofa or table manufacturer building such furniture
do you mean like a electronic household furnishings such as TV, room heaters, window blinds, fridges.

please give an example of what you are specifically asking for. EG pick a piece of furniture. or what you mean by the furniture. using it, making it..

I mean the first one...sofa or table

before even asking about the need of blockchain needed in a table of chair. you have to ask about any currency
why need to put fiat into a table or sofa
why need to put gold into a table or sofa.

the idea's i have come up with

table.
at a restaurant you fund your restaurant table with funds (like a bartab). that table is reserved for you. the waiters know you can pay the bill and you can just move funds across when you order specific items. thus no issue about not paying your bill or embarrassment of card decline when on a date.

sofa.. hmm.. lets instead choose movie/orchestra/music venue chairs. buying a ticket puts funds into the seat. thus unlocking a physical electronic padlock that releases the chairs vertical position for you to unfold it and sit in it.

ok lets look at sofa.
imagine sofa's only last for 10 years of sitting on before people ware them out rubing their ass into the chair to need to replace it. or imagine for health and fitness you want to penalise yourself for sitting on a sofa too long.
each hour on the sofa costs a few pennies. which over 10 years adds up to cover the cost of a new sofa. (self funding/saving up).
it also makes those trying to stay fit to remind themselves to do exercise if it starts costing them something to sitdown for an hour.

sounds good but why should that not possible with traditional payment systems like credit card, PayPal etc.?
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin / Blockchain in connected furnitues (IoT)? on: February 03, 2017, 02:45:03 PM
One innovative solutions would be to use bitcoin connected with furniture like sofa/chair. When user will pay a defined amount then only the user will be allowed to seat otherwise it will stay in folded condition. This type of sofa could be used in public gathering like bus stop where user could pay and sit just like pay and use toilets. And from then the owner could make some profit.

Why would it be more convenient for the user to pay with a digital currency and why would it be also more profitable for the company to use a digital currency as a payment method?

Guys, I was thinking how you can use Bitcoin or Blockchain in general regarding furnitures? Do you have any ideas?

Thanks for some Brainstorming Smiley

Do you mean as in like a form of payment for purchasing it or like as integrated in some why into the furniture ?

yeah, I mean integrated in the furniture...Bitcoin or in general Blockchain

Do you mean buying online furnitures with bitcoins?
If you want to integrate Blockchain in furniture its possible.

You may want to read this. http://blockchain-finance.com/2017/01/23/nova-lifestyle-partnership-brings-blockchain-to-furniture-market/

This company is distributor of furnitures and want to incorporate blockchain technology in their business.

Nice thanks!!!

That means a connected furniture would only make sense if there is a display which could offer more services. In that you could start integrate Blockchain / Bitcoin. Any use case?
