When I first started here we were at 1.79PHs and I was making way more than any other pool I was on previously by far.  The actual size of the pool is not as important as your level of patience and your ability to tolerate variance. Grin

These posts made me look back, been here a while and quite happy with the pool. Luck is luck and it all equals out in the long run.

Well I'll add regarding HW errors.

As long as the miner isn't failing due to overheating/pushing it too hard/whatever, what you actually want to compare is the accepted hash rate.
The Workers->Shifts statistics and Workers->Shift Graph will show that.
HW errors, stales, etc don't count in what you get rewarded.
Your rewarded hash rate is purely just accepted valid shares.
If that goes down (or up) after a few days then you'll know if it was better or worse due to the update.
Though, finding a block is certainly gonna reward better than not finding one Smiley

I always thought that you want your err rate at or below .01%, otherwise your are wasting power for no increase in hash rate. Especially when you are OC'ing the miner. So better to have .0005 err and 4.8 Th then .05 err and 4.95 TH. Is that a true statement?

Yeah, we need to get a lot of green so our stats will look like this:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

 Cheesy

Only 16 more to get back to even for the month, NP. 8 Saturday and 8 Sunday.
44  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL on: December 16, 2016, 01:40:46 AM
of course it would have; not on luck itself, but stdev of blocks per day, almost certainly.
organofcorti should correct if i am wrong.

A smaller pool should typically have more variation in the number of blocks mined per day than a larger pool.

to me, this ^^ sounds right.

Yes, you will get more blocks per day, but you will still get 600%+ blocks.
Blocks per day is not the way to look at it, the way is average shares per block.

The only thing having more hashrate will do is make the bad blocks go by quicker, which makes it feel better, but the reality is that there is no difference. We would all be getting less per block also, so the amount of BTC per day would be lower, so the number of blocks per day is not relevant.

I remember seeing Antpoo going almost a full day with no blocks, I think it ended being a 1400% block

Interesting. I mine here because it's transparent, openly managed, and for all appearances over an extended period of time, honest. I don't give a rusty duck about a fancy GUI; I want to see hard numbers and open structure, and that's out front here and not buried. I'm reasonably confident that bad luck is simply that.

I've been doing this for several years. I came here last year. I'm not going anywhere.

Mine on.
I agree, a fancy GUI isn't important to me either, Although a bit more condensed homepage would be nice.
I'm just passing on what some of my friends have said, which means others feel it to.

Everyone who has done website design etc. Knows that info on a site isn't what pulls everyone in, look layout and feel are a big part, Even if it's irrelevant to the purpose.

Bitminter's got a good website layout and they've lost most of their hash power over the last 2 months.

Bitminer had a 49 day round, 2.061T, we are up to 2.092T and its only been a few days. I think this block on going to be a record and we should be due for a nice rebound.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner...

I have opened up port 80 on both the US and EU stratum servers.  You can now connect there instead of port 3333 if you wish.  It's a vardiff port.  Starting diff is 10042.  Min diff is 1042.  Max diff is 1048576.

For those of you with firewall concerns, this should solve your problems Smiley

Enjoy!

I've updated the OP to include the new port details.

Works, thanks

I don't have either 80 or 443 opened on the stratum servers, but changing that won't be a problem.  I will take care of it in the morning and post back here when it is done.

Great, thanks

What other ports do you support besides 3333, is 80 or 443 supported and what is the connect string for those. Cant use 3333 anymore due to FW blocking.

I looked at past posts, thought you opened other ports but can't find it. Besides the low diff 3999 and the high diff port. Need something like 80 or 443
49  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 08, 2016, 08:20:00 PM
S9 now on sale on Bitmain store front...

What a deal at 1445+shipping for 13.5 TH, even with free power thats over 5.5 months but with Diff looking like its on the up swing, more like 7-8 months for ROI with FREE POWER. Good luck with that, I have 20 S7's that I have started selling off and down to 8 left. Time to cash in and just buy BTC and hold. Maybe I'll keep one for heat this winter, actually doing better with GPU's and HW is always worth something when done with it.

So I have 6 RX480 8GB reference cards and looking to get 4 more. Many options out now vs. launch when only reference cards were avail. Any good tips or suggestions on which flavor to get? See Newegg has a sale on the Sapphire flavor @ 239 and $15 rebate. recommendations appreciated for ETH mining.

Would this be any better for just $20 more?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202186&cm_re=radeon_fury-_-14-202-186-_-Product

Seems Claymore V7 really does well on the Furys.

I've done both ZEC and ETH on my 480's, but ETH is defiantly better on the 480's I think. I also have some 295x2 that do very well on ZEC so lets assume most of my mining will be ETH, then what flavor would you go with?
52  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [4/5 AVAILABLE] 4oz .9999 Gold NastyFans Minted Seats on: November 22, 2016, 06:39:40 AM
Considering going in on this, been reading about the fan club and these coins but still trying understand the long-term value outside the gold & collector value. Do they come loaded with BTC? I see each has 100 seats and I assume each seat is like a share in the mining operation? Do you have some links to help me grasp the concept from a long-term investment perspective? I have been converting some of my coin to gold/silver to diversify and this offering is quite intriguing to me.
Thanks,

I'm new to all the mining things, but how can you trust someone, who uses closed code, meaning, that noone knows whether or not the moment you run it on your PC it does not start sending all your data to foreign sources. Starting with your location, ip, IP camera, etc, and in the same time is asking for a percentage of your earingings in order to cover the abovementioned?

First off you should not mine with anything important on your pc.

I have macs for important info and I mine with diy pcs

Another (less safe) way is to restrict the particular program's access to all resources it doesn't require by using proper access permissions and software like Sandboxie.

What I do is put the rig in a dedicated DMZ subnet with outbound access to internet, rigs can't access my local network. Also purpose build your rig with only minimal install and nothing else besides what you need to run the miners. You can go a step further and restrict outbound internet access to only the IP's your pools use, but that a pain to manage.

Well i did it...again.

I invested and had auto reinvest when pac4's were out took over 6 months to get paid back, slow and painful but it was 1.3 th/s. If i recall right Bitman said i made .04 profit off 1 btc..

which is 4%  in six months  or 8% for a year.

no bank pays that.

But I went for a coin this time.  No more.

Well that rate is quite normal in India... in fact even 11% isnt a rare sight.

Hmm, sounds like I can get 11% return on my 500 & 1000 rupee bills.

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v6.0 on: November 16, 2016, 08:41:23 PM
v6.0:

- improved speed by about 20-25% (depends on card model). About 180H/s on stock 390.
- "-i" parameter values are 0...4 now, default value is "-i 4".
- fixed issue with mixed cards.

Claymore,

Suggestion. Can you add a combined folder with ETH miner and Zcash miner and add a switch in the Remote manager? So we can switch from ETH to Z-cash miner and back and forth quickly.

Thank you so much for your amazing work.
If switch happens , I dont mind paying 2.5% for both ETH and Zcash mining. Great work

I'd like to second this request.

Why not go a little further Claymore? bundle both miners into same package, use API to check profitability hourly and switch algo to always mine the most profitable coin (between Ethash and Equihash), must like the Nicehash miner which makes sense but its crap under the hood. We would all spend a lot less time managing miners and switching pools, coins and algo's.........

Difficulty balances itself out between coins on its own.  Claymore writes good miners, not trivial scripts to help the lazy.  Besides, if he made a script like this, it would nullify itself anyway, because the difficulty/price between coins would always be even, since his miners are very popular.  So then in the end you, and him would lose, since it wastes time switching coins.

I get that and agree, in the long term is all equals out. But if we assume that is true, then why are we here mining Equihash and not sticking with Ethash as most people have done over the last 6-9 months?
I think we all have mining fever when the software tripples sol rates in so short of time.

Yep, chasing that pot of gold. it lasted less then a week, imagine if we had v6 miner on day one...... I'm sticking with NH for now, saves a lot of time exchanging coins for BTC as I have no intention of holding anything but BTC and ETH long term.

Stock 295x2, -i 4, 1100/1500, 320 H/s
Stock Nitro 470 8G, -i 4, 1350/2100, 155 H/s

In the 295x2, your running 1100 clock, 1500 mem and how about power limit? I have same card and getting 290ish.

0%. Haven't touched power limit. I use TRIXX to overclock. This is on Win7 x64 Ultimate, Crimson 16.10.1 if that helps. Temps are 70C and 67C, ambient 26C.

Maybe your card is throttling? How's your temps?

Temps not an issue, with ETH I was at 71-72, with ZEC its much better at 59-63. throttle does not kick in till 74. Same win7x64 ultimate, same 16.10.1. Using the default AMD setting to OC. What CPU, RAM and MB are you using? I have rigs with low-end Celeron and others with better MB's and AMD 6300 CPU. Several flavors of each

This is my work PC, not a dedicated rig. Small form factor Dell Optiplex 7010 (Ivy Bridge Q77 chipset), i7-3770 @ 3.4GHz, 2 x 4GB RAM dual channel PC3-12800 (800MHz) Kingston. It had two empty PCI-E slots, so I decided to stick two risers and run two cards (470 and 295). I might replace the 470 with another 295 if I find one, or a Fury or Nano to maximize hash. Free electricity. I power the two cards using a Corsair RM1000x on the side. I tried using a 3 way PCI-E x1 splitter to run more cards, but the PC wouldn't recognize the cards. I'm also mining the CPU using Kost's nheqminer (AVX) with 6 threads (~20 Sol/s), leaving me 2 threads for work stuff. While mining the CPU the clock boosts to 3.7GHz.

Have you played around with intensity? Maybe -i 4 could be overwhelming your setup?

Looks like my mem clock was defaulted back to 1250, once I changed that to 1500 I am now getting 320'ish per card. Looks like that was the issue, sometimes when the drivers crash, it all get set back to factory settings. Amateur move on my part, but really appreciate the help. Thanks,

Glad to hear, happy to help. Yeah, Radeon Settings will reset to factory clocks upon a crash. Had that happen to me a couple time.

Not many around here with 295 cards. I plan to try various core/mem clocks as I feel this card should be capable of higher hashrates. Be good to exchange results if you too plan to tweak some more. Any experience with BIOS modding?

I have 12 of these cards, all in 6 desktops and love them since they are quiet and can exhaust them via top and rear of towers. Basically I built a rig that has 2 of these (4 GPU's) and you can plug in anywhere and run, office, home etc. If anyone else saw a real open air rig like others build, they would call cops thinking its a bomb or something. So I think there is merit building them in fully enclosed cases that can run as normal desktops.

What cases and mobos did you use?

Gigabyte AM3+ GA-970A-DS3P and Nanoxia Deep Silence 3 Mid Tower Case with 6 Fan Controllers along with AMD FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition and 120G SSD with 8GB RAM. I think I am going to list a couple of these for sale since I am moving out of an office by 12/31 that I have 3 of these running in.  Currently this tower pulls 125 for ETH and 650 for ZEC.
