41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SPEC] SPEC - SCRYPT -- CRYPTOWATCHER -- DEDICATED SERVICE DEVELOPERS on: July 03, 2015, 12:12:02 PM
With Canada Day just happening and the 4th of July about to happen (Our team is multinational), Im amazed at how well everyone is working in the background and balancing the holiday in regards to getting the behind the scenes stuff done.

I will be uploading a roadmap for SPEC that will touch on the projects we have coming up or are already working on, within the next 24 hours.

CryptoWatcher is our main focus however there are a lot of smaller projects that are happening in between as well as after. Not to mention the other service oriented sites that will be started after CryptoWatcher is up and rolling.

Those wanting to mine, now is the time to do it. Keep in mind once we start rocking this out, its going to be pretty fantastic.

This has got to be the quietest thread that I've ever seen for a new coin. I hope that there's more than four or five of us interested in this coin.

It may seem a bit sparse and slow for a new coin, however there are good things happening in the background that will be announced when its time to make those announcements. One of the things that was agreed upon, is the hope for a solid and natural foundation to take hold. No fake accounts, no false hyping etc.

The mining numbers suggest there are a good deal of people who are interested, not to mention all of the people in the background which is the SPEC team, and friends of SPEC who are actually working, and working towards making this what we know its going to be. Hang in there Wink

It's good to see that you are there and hard at work. My comments were really directed at the other miners. Everyone is so quiet.

I'm glad to hear that you don't believe in hype. Too many devs hype their coin and end up disappointing their supporters because reality never lives up to the hype.

I like the concept of your web site. I look forward to seeing it in action. Is this coin somehow tied in with the site, or is it an independent project?

Thanks for the kind words. The coin is going to be the house token of CryptoWatcher, where its use is going to be purchasing advanced membership beyond the basics (text/price alerts, custom compare pages with different chart types and any advanced features we add as time passes) per 6 months or on a per alert basis. Email price alerts will be available to everyone.

There are other projects on the table once we get CryptoWatcher where we want it. For instance CoinFundMe.com which will be a cross between kickstarter and GoFundMe, allowing the brightest people in crypto a chance to use it to help get crypto related projects off the ground etc. SPEC will also be that services house token. Once the official announcement on CoinFundMe and other services are released, we will provide more info.

I think as far as other miners go, decent amount of workers who are quiet seems to be a bit of a compliment.

As a true expert in Crypto I would like to know more about Speculator. Thats where my interest lies in this project.

Thanks

Vegas

www.bitcoinlasvegas.net

Definitive SPECulator details will follow once CryptoWatcher is closer to beta. We want to make sure we have all the specs worked out before releasing more. Thank you for the interest.

I have been quietly mining this coin from day one. I like the idea of low difficulty and no hype. It is def a dice roll, but it seems dev is not concerned with dumping the premine so there is still incentive to innovate. I am going to keep mining.

Thank you for contributing to the hash and helping. CryptoWatcher, Spec and everything else we have planned is more of a "Here we are" Project. The ultimate end goal is to have a huge market share in the digital currency space, from the combined services. Sky is the limit once we get to that point. It all starts by placing one foot in front of the other. Thanks for the kind words.

Can you try to keep this thread alive please? With the hashrates falling so fast im reconsidering the intentions of the team, cause everything was set up on a hasty manner. I would expect domains and social stuff to be secured and deaigned prior the announcement date so you'd look professional at least.

SPEC has had upwards of 3gH/s with diff reaching as high as 1077 just from what we have seen. Its resting right around 0.9 - 1.1gH/s. Im sorry your experience hasnt been the best it could possibly be.

We have a number of upcoming announcements planned, we can not simply post just to keep the topic at the top of the ann section. However we are pretty confident that some time in the near future this topic will naturally receive a lot of attention. If you feel that this project isnt up to your standards, we apologize and would understand if you decided not to join us.

This will be good coin...

Thank you. We have high hopes for the entire project, and are working behind the scenes towards making it one to remember.

why is the dev a newbie?
i would like to see who is really behind this coin.

Each of us are all fairly well known in the crypto world. However we arent trying to bank on that to convince people to join the SPEC or CryptoWatcher Community. The newb account is just to consolidate everything into this project.

Those wondering if they should join us, should do so based on merit. Our entire idealogy with this project is to

A. Keep it simple B. Create tools that people will actually use and completely understand. C. Dont Over Promise

Im sure Im leaving a few out, however our goal is to see CryptoWatcher through until its managable by a small team and then move on to the next SPEC orientated project. Placing administrators in each project as they roll out. SPEC is the binder for the group of projects we have planned.

Each person who happens upon the project will have to determine for themselves if its something they want to participate in, in some fashion. We have understood from the beginning that this is not something we can or would try to control.

The fact is, we are going to "Create" Its what each of us likes to do, what we always have done as a hobby and professionally. We are just getting started, but it should be fun for sure.

Do you dont think, that 30% Premine is a little bit too much?

And the Block Halving will come in about 8 years? o_O

I would rather bet on a dev earning for his/her hard work via creating value for his/her premine, with what's being proposed for SPEC, than have a dev lose interest in what he/she is doing due to the project not being self-sustainable.

In fact I like high premines on legitimate projects, because they also deter poor evaluators of risk from getting involved.

On a lot of new coins, I mine the same amount as the premine or more, and dump into bids. And I don't disclose it... and neither does anyone else who does the same... did you ever consider that risk?

Personally I'll be mining the hell out of this.

EDIT:

Hey dev, any idea why the win-qt is tripping alerts on Ikarus, ESET-NOD32, and Fortinet? I know you mentioned it in the OP and suggested compiling from source if there are any concerns.

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/4447cc3d52c46893afb387020f1ca2b43eddcd746cfd1bd9daa0c1192d13e6a4/analysis/1435494783/

It's the standard false positive for a qt wallet with the ability to setgenerate but usually only ESET-NOD32 reports that false positive. The other two generally leave it alone.

For the time being I suggest to everyone else that if you're concerned about trusting a wallet that you leave your coins on your mining pool until the dev can expound on the alert tripping.

Dev, maybe even getting a code review from earlz or ocminer would be a good idea.

Thank you for your kind words.

These are just false positives. It will change depending on which site you use to scan it also.

For instance it trips slightly different

https://www.metascan-online.com/en/scanresult/file/eaf9fc48cff4409c8ec0bf2e28e79077#summary

http://r.virscan.org/report/1c424a11ce337f230d66c9e9897651f0

Its actually not 3 different results that are tripping, its just one result tripping on 3 different engines. It all centers around "bitcoinminer"

It all revolves around the ability to mine from the wallet, listen to the network/nodes etc. We are actually getting multiple code reviews with detailed information to make sure the community understands our dedication to the SPEC community and Digital Currency as a whole. If anyone has concerns, the answer would be to wait until a detailed code review or compile from source to ease their minds.

Just confirmed that http://spec.zapto.org is up and running guys. Thanks for the updates also.

May have been slow to load at first due to the pool owner agreeing not to launch until the ann was posted.

anyone want a pool?Cheesy

EDIT: ready soon!

www.suchpool.pw/spec ready

Thank you for setting up the pool so quickly. Much Appreciated. I have updated the ANN with its details.

There is a countdown on your website. Is this when the Cryptowatcher hub is launching?
Also the social media links on your webpage are not active.

We are updating the site now. All sites will be updated shortly once we see the SPEC rollout through.

Yes the timer is to show when CryptoWatcher will be available. Its enough time to finish development, test and roll out. Although if its finished before then we will actually be launching early. The countdown is more of a long count beyond what we see will be the launch date.

1 click Node install if anyone needs it (tested on Ubuntu 14.10 fresh install). Edit the source (fork it) file to fit your needs if you dont require the updates it installs, or do not want them.

Code:
wget -O specNode.sh https://raw.githubusercontent.com/SpecDevelopment/spec-wallet/master/AutoNode.sh ; sudo bash specNode.sh

Node Front end (similar to http://node.speccoin.com) is also available from our github account.
