Has anyone used the Android wallet to buy a game on steam? Before I make a purchase want to make sure it works.

New Android wallet is awesome! it's very fast. I also like that you can choose USD and other currencies to value your Gulden against.

Thank you for this wonderful wallet! I like that it brings up a pin you must enter and phrase to copy when you first login or you forget to secure and backup your wallet.

Installed on 3 devices. No problems, sync was lightning quick on all 3. Progress bar is helpful , no other android wallet has this. Good selections of currencies and transactions notified instantly. Perfect wallet and good work!

Much better wallet, is it safe to transfer from old to new wallet?

Yes, just send all your coins from old wallet to address of new wallet, and then once the transfer is safely processed you can remove the old wallet.

Is there any other coin who can buy with there coin at bitcoin merchants?
or is this specific for Gulden?

I think the gulden team work right. Hope some money investors also see value.

Gulden is the first and only for Gulden  Cool and it is Gold!

When I have the android wallet on my device that can be used at all bitcoin merchants I won't have any problems buying a lot more coins as there is no risk but seeing is believing. This team has always delivered though and expect this android wallet to be reality one day.

It's been over a month since my post about the android wallet and I meant what I said.

Will the mining campaign go ahead with the small amount raised?

The bitcoin price has rallied a lot recently, not many willing to spend bitcoin on anything at this time.

Most foundations have been setup when coins have been scams or dev anonymous we fortunate enough not to have either of these problems.

I agree, this coin has no reason to create a foundation to prove the legitimacy of the dev team. I completely trust Rijk and know for sure he will handle the pre-mine with utmost integrity.

The suggested foundation (or any other legal entity for that matter) is to secure the assets of Gulden (Premine and websites) for future growth. Not only to protect them against unforeseen threats like Rijk (who's address is publicly known) being robbed or maybe gets involved in legal stuff like a divorce, but also to have a legal entity that can represent those assets.

You see, once Gulden starts to grow, we are going to run into situations like we had recently with the lack of an official legal entity to get our IOS in the App Store, more frequent. When we setup such a legal entity now, we are prepared for those things by the time things get busy.

Don't mistake the suggested foundation to be a central entity that gets control over any development or decision for Gulden. It's just a legal entity that serves the community by acting on it's behalf. It will have no saying or vote on anything, just the obligation to do what we, the community want it to do.

For obvious reasons I would want Rijk to take place in it's board and maybe someone like WaterLooDown as well. I myself on the other hand will not. Not because I won't take up the responsibility or because I want to avoid people saying I'm out to be in control. I do not want to sit in the board because I have commercial plans with Gulden and that would raise unnecessary doubts about conflict of interests that could ultimately damage Gulden.

+100. These are all legitimate concerns. Could the dev team comunicate if these legal things are taken care of, or will be taken care of in the future?

Does LTEX want a foundation so others users can use the premine for projects ?

Yesterday I experienced the advantage of having longer block times.
I transferred coins off bittrex and by accident pasted my friends address who I gave some coins to as a test 2 weeks ago, I copy addresses I use to a file and had his on top which was stupid, after I realized my mistake I was able to cancel the transaction with bittrex in time before the first block was found after I confirmed.

It gave me a idea which I don't know is possible but to have a option in the wallet to cancel your transaction if the first block has not come through or to only send after 3 blocks has passed to double check yourself. Perhaps it's a dumb idea but I see it as a advantage for coins with more then 2 min average block times. I can understand something like this would never be possible with coins having less then 1 minute block times.

Afaik this is not possible. Once you broadcast a transaction and other nodes rebroadcast it, there's no way to put the genie back into the bottle, so to speak. Maybe there could be a way to broadcast to the network "please remove this tx from your mempool" and you would have to sign the message with the address you sent the coins from to prove you control it, but this would be a major undertaking I think.
Not 100% true, if no block has yet been created you can send another transaction with a much higher fee - the miners can then (theoretically) choose which to include, and miners want money so its likely the one with the higher fee.. In practice this only has a small percentage chance of working though.

I wouldn't add the above as a feature to the wallet...
However Tom does have a point for regular folk, and for main stream adoption it might be worth considering having the wallet in a mode where it doesn't broadcast the transaction immediately but instead hangs onto it in a queue for a 'cool off' period so that it can be cancelled, similar to what some email providers do with emails now. This could then be overriden with a 'send immediately' checkbox.
At least thats how I would solve this 'use case' rather than trying to actually allow revoking of already sent transactions.

Thanks for the responses.  Yes, that would be a nice addition in the future.  Grin

Great updates everyone! Took me some time to read through the pages with all the responses.

Guldencoin has a very good opportunity in the whole of Europe and I recommend expanding outside of the Netherlands. No other coin can represent Europe like guldencoin with what I have looked at.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do useful alt coins fail in price? on: June 29, 2015, 03:24:50 PM
A lot of the useful altcoins are boring and much of the funds are in speculative coins which are used to pump and dump to get more btc for new users.

This is the conclusion I have come too, sadly!
Although I would say 99% of new users would get badly burnt when looking at altcoin options for the first time.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com — D E L T A on: June 29, 2015, 03:05:02 PM
When I first took at look at guldencoin a few months back I thought what a great currency. Logic was telling me that usage was key to success and guldencoin hasn't disappointed, I am not angry that the price of this coin has fallen but I am worried about what people in the alt coin industry are really after? Is it bitcoin, is it fiat profit or something else? The coins that have the most short term success appear to be the ones you least expect as they are dead end coins with not much future.

Is there any reason for the constant drop in price of a coin that is far beyond others in real world usage and community development, if the alt coin industry is just about pumping and dumping low supply coins with gimmicky features then I will just stick to bitcoin as guldencoin is proof people aren't really cared about change and usability. It's just greed.

I would rather not give names because people will take it the wrong way. I know it's early days still and a lot of these coins that come out as heroes for a month end up at under 10k USD in marketcap after a short while with no volume.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why do useful alt coins fail in price? on: June 29, 2015, 02:21:12 PM
I have noticed that coins which don't have much going for them besides gimmicky features and more importantly low supply end up doing the best in terms of marketcap. Coins with usability appear to be overlooked or prices driven down so others don't take notice. Is the altcoin market used purely as a slot machine?

Do people still fall for this? I don't think that many Noobs have entered since early 2014. They only invest in bitcoin. Wink
