41  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying Vs Renting a Home- Which is the right move? on: May 16, 2024, 04:21:01 PM
This topic has come up quite a few times over the years on this board.  A lot of the discussion around it has mostly been others opinions.  I found this neat little graph online (instagram) from the New York Times that compares the two.  Now keep in mind one's location will certainly have an effect on which one might make more sense, even in what part of you own country you're in.

It doesn't matter where anyone is, I think it's a similar thing everywhere... it's the location that matters. The better the location, the higher the price per square meter both when renting or buying. In my opinion, it's better to buy a property, even with credit... after 20-30 years you will have your own house, and with renting after 30 paying for rent all that time you will still not have anything.

I decided to buy a house 8 years ago... I'm still paying it off, but if I had been paying rent all these years I would have nothing of my own.
42  Economy / Gambling / Re: Chipstars Crypto Casino: Community with Exclusive Giveaways and Promos on: May 16, 2024, 02:56:14 PM
...
Good luck.

You might not have heard of it, but it can be standard procedure and its mandated by the governing/licencing body, Curacao has meanwhile established a more serious licencing framework and certain things have to be followed. These things happen for a reason, mostly justified, in this case, it was an edge case. Which we have more than corrected by now.

I'm glad that the problem was solved and that everything turned out well in the end. I hope Miki will confirm the same, at least it would be nice to hear from his side if he is satisfied now, with the money received and the compensation for waiting.

I know that these things happen for a reason, but when the casino is quiet we players get a little restless. Anyway, it's nice that you explained the case and were transparent about it, I respect that.

43  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the Worst online Casino you've played on so far? on: May 16, 2024, 01:21:40 PM
So, I am putting out this question out to you - Which online casino is the worst of them all you've ever played on? And why do you consider this casino the worst online casino?

I haven't had a bad experience with crypto casinos in years. I guess the bad experience mostly came down to some glitches while playing, deposit/withdrawal issues, and probably the worst thing is the bad communication with support agents. I don't have such problems in casinos where I play, so I can't mark any crypto casino as "the worst", except the scam casinos known for shady actions against many players.

There are casinos where I was really unlucky, losing multiple deposits without any wins. I won't call them the worst casinos either, it's just a time when I was unlucky and it wouldn't be fair to accuse a casino of cheating without any evidence. Sometimes things really don't go our way, and the best thing we could do is to just move to another casino.

44  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which Casino and Sportsbook have the best UI? Which others can improve? on: May 15, 2024, 09:32:39 PM
I like the Weiss UI! It will be good to see the dark mode, but it's friendly for new players and have intuitive design!

The Wiess sports book looks interesting, it's a bit different from the others and I like it. I didn't bet much, I played more slots on this site. Definitely one of the more interesting crypto casinos, but the mandatory KYC is probably one of the things people don't like on this site.

Not all casinos are good even though they have a nice UI. So in the end, UI is not as important as it is important to be able to trust the casino itself.
45  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Naturally Chase loses in gambling.. on: May 15, 2024, 07:12:40 PM
...
So, from your own understanding, what do you think makes people chase loses aside greed which I believe many of us are already familier with?.

It's simple, we like to win, and when it comes to gambling profit means win, losing money means losing... So we are competitive and we will give everything we have in some moments just to win and prove that we are "better" than the opponent. In gambling, we are ready to spend the last dollar because even if we are on some long losing streak we still believe in the "last seconds" win, like with all other games.

Of course, not all people are the same, some are less competitive than others, but I believe that we all have it in us, desire to win in whatever we feel passionate about. I guess that we all feel passionate when we gamble, in some moments when we get "deep into the game" and excitement is at its maximum... we are focused on the win and we probably feel that the winning hand/spin is so close.

46  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks have money but they don't cooperate on: May 15, 2024, 01:51:19 PM
That's quite a long post. I didn't finish reading everything.

Your friend didn't know Bitcoin and gold's price would increase. He was merely making a prediction. Predictions may or may not turn out right in the end. In which case, you can't just present your predictions to the banks in order to get money from them. That would be ridiculous. Banks would quickly run out of money if they allow that. Banks know how to measure and take risks.

Forget about banks' cooperation. Their interests always come first. Also, they don't actually work for you. Let's not be naïve. The truth is that they're creating wealth out of you.

I read it to the end and there is nothing new, from the very beginning to the end everything revolves around the fact that the banks didn't want to lend money to someone who showed up at their door and said "I have a great idea, give me money!". Whatever idea/business it's in case, banks have their own conditions under which they grant loans, and it is ridiculous to just go to the bank and ask for money without any business plan, or with a business plan that does not have any guarantees/collateral.

I agree that we should not be naive when it comes to banks, their main thing is making a profit. But if someone has already chosen to take out a loan (for anything), he should look at the conditions (ToS) of those loans if he doesn't want to be surprised once he starts paying it back. That's something we should all know, don't sign a document until you read everything it says, even the small letters. Especially when it comes to money and all other important life stuff.
47  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Martingale strategy is a failure if you are consistent with it on: May 15, 2024, 11:06:30 AM
I love roulettes because it is very easy to play and I see it relaxing. I bet with $3.5 yesterday using martingale strategy as I want to see what the outcome would be, I was able to win $6. $6 to $9 but it will go down to $3 until I won $10.  From $10 back to $6 until I won $13. Later I won $18. I played 5 consecutive times without winning at all and I lost the whole money. If won any among the 5 times selection, I would have increased it to back $18 or to $25. It was a boring day for me, I enjoyed the game, I wish to play more but I do not want to lose more money.

As the title of your thread says, any strategy fails if overused, but as you can see a bigger problem than choosing a strategy is our greed. If I understood correctly you started with $3.5 and managed to get to $18, that should have been a nice game and that's the moment when you should have stopped the game. But greed is what we all face and often lose because of it, I think something like this has happened many times to each of us, at least to all of us who gamble often. Many times I also made x2 and much more, but I did not know/want/wished to stop and I lost both profit and deposit. It's gambling and when we are excited it's easy for us to get carried away and to believe that we can win even more...

You don't need to have a boring day just because you lost some money... you enjoyed the game and you lost, next time try to stop on time and everything will be fine. It's something we all need to learn, and more importantly to remember to apply that in the heat of the game.
48  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing all your fortune with just 3 years on: May 14, 2024, 07:58:41 PM
He manage to wager a whooping 825M $ in just a single year when he lose that 127M.

When we consider his bankroll I think we can't say that he wagered a lot... just x6.4 of his bankroll. With some luck and better playing people wager a lot more than just a little over x6 with their bankroll.

I guess this man started losing and at one point he decided to up the stakes (it's happened to all of us at some point) just to get back the millions he lost... but unfortunately, he was unlucky and lost it all.

Because of these things, bankroll management is very important, $10, $10k, or $100m is the same if someone bets more than 10-20% of their bankroll. When we lose what we have because of reckless gambling there's no point in complaining and blaming others for that. We are responsible for everything we do.
49  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo0.2BTC DailyJackpot$32,500 Wager Contest on: May 14, 2024, 05:14:27 PM
Just noticed that the user 37419370 won the lambo contest and also the weekly lottery. Huh Huh.
Good observation, it's been a while for someone with a massive number of tickets (39.94 million in this case) to win the first prize at the weekly lottery.
Wow that's a insane number of tickets, 39.9 millions. Just checked other contest too and got surprised that this user 37419370 is everywhere, winning daily contest, monthly contest frequently. Superbly active gambler man.

+34k Golden Tickets, +39m lottery tickets... this guy is gambling like there is no tomorrow. Probably one thing leads to another, that's how it is with gambling and wagering huge amounts, he wins most of the contests and has a higher chance to win all the lotteries. I guess we can say that he is more than an active gambler:

it looks like the guy who won the last round of the Lambo lottery has a gambling addiction.

- Either sick or healthy, it has a lot of Whale's oil. Or should I say Shark?

He is a shark, I would say "Great white shark"! Smiley
50  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Accessing gambling sites only on desktop as a means to prevent addiction on: May 14, 2024, 03:42:04 PM
I don't see this as a trick to prevent gambling addiction, it's just a trick to spend less time gambling. To be a gambling addict you don't need to gamble a lot, gambling addicts who bet on sports don't need to be active all day on the computer, they just log in, place some bets and that's enough for them.

As Oshosondy wrote, the only way to prevent gambling addiction is to set up a gambling budget, it's a limitation that will work for people to keep some control over their gambling habits. And that is the most important part, as long as there is some control gambling will not be a problem and will not cause problems.

51  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Attempting to turn 0.05 BTC into 1.7 BTC on: May 14, 2024, 09:23:31 AM
Hi everyone, I've decided to deposit 0.1 BTC to give this another try. This is the remainder of my BTC so I cannot really afford to lose this bet. Sad I received this bet from a popular tipster on Discord, so I hope he is right.

Bet #6: Mlada Boleslav - Slovacko | Over 3.5 | 0.1 BTC returns 0.285 BTC

You like to chase that "over 3.5" bet. I took a look at the stats, both teams seem to be playing with a lot of goals. If statistics are to be believed, you have a good chance of winning this bet. I had a feeling that you would continue with high bets, once you start it's hard to go back to smaller bets... not interesting enough, missing that excitement, and the profit we expect is unsatisfying.

Well, good luck SavingForMedSchool, I am cheering for you!
52  Economy / Gambling / Re: TonPoker - Telegram Poker Room on: May 14, 2024, 01:04:01 AM
iv4n my man, you gave us a tough fight and you don't even know it.
...
That was so strange, you won't believe it if you didn't witness it yourself.

And you are right, it could have caught more traction, that's true.

Well, it's not so strange... I have also played some games where the "inactive player" got ITM. I have witnessed this many times, a passive player can survive many all-ins. I don't like that this time I was the "inactive player", unfortunately, I couldn't avoid my work obligations. I hope that we will have a chance to meet again at some poker table. Smiley

On top of that, this is a freeroll so basically free money to anyone that dedicate like 30 minutes of their time to play decent poker. On the first place, there isnt really that many people around here that play poker though so yeah I guess in general poker site isnt getting that much attention

Speaking of poker, its been a while since we had our last bitcointalk poker huh. I really wish that we could really throw another one again. Basically making it an annually tournament would be nice but yeah there isnt really any site that would sponsor this I guess

Same here, I would also like to play more tournaments with people from here. We had a great time and many great games... Maybe that will come true for us one day, who knows?

This game should have got more attention, but unfortunately, it didn't. We will see what the next steps are for the TON poker team, however, if they want an active poker site they need to invest in it! To attract people they need to have tournaments with guaranteed prizes (GTDs), free rolls, special promotions, and bonuses. Without all that I doubt they will be able to create anything that can come close to some Fiat poker sites.

53  Economy / Gambling / Re: TonPoker - Telegram Poker Room on: May 13, 2024, 08:30:14 AM
Overall, my first impressions of this poker bot aren't bad, and the freeroll tournament was quite easy because many registered participants were sitting out. Grin Apparently, many of them forgot the start time of the tournament.
Or they just like to watch you over as you guys played against each other. Anyway, again congrats to everyone and also to tonpoker, seems to be a successful event.

I didn't forget about the tournament, I was supposed to be free but due to some unforeseen circumstances I had to be at work yesterday... when I got home the tournament was already over.

If there were 17 players, of which only 5 were active, I wouldn't call it a successful tournament... some poker tournaments with a much smaller prize draw a lot more people. So we can say that this tournament did not attract much attention and people even though it had a nice prize.

Congrats to the entrants, it looks like everyone got some kind of prize, and I hope this isn't all from TON poker... maybe they should have some regular freeroll game with smaller prizes.

Hi everyone, due to my first 2 bets being bad beats, I've decided to redeposit 0.05 BTC, this will be my last try. Smiley

Congratulations on this win. Brave bet, no doubt about that, you went all in and luckily you won. I didn't expect you to do something like this, but you did it. Smiley

Unfortunately 0.1 BTC will not get me through even one semester. Sad

Well, don't push too much. I think it's not the time to become too greedy, you recovered your losses and maybe you should continue to play with some smaller bets... But of course, it's up to you, whatever you decide to do I wish you a lot of luck. I really hope you rock the casino and take their money. Good luck man! And think about changing your username to "GamblingForMedSchool"! Smiley
55  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chased loss, got it back and lost everything. on: May 12, 2024, 02:30:23 PM
I have never gone into debt because of gambling, even when I was younger I could spend all the money I have at the moment, but that's it... until the new money comes in I don't gamble. It's so wrong to play with borrowed money, with credit cards, once you get into these debts it's hard to get out of them. A gambling loss doesn't hurt as much as a debt does, the constant reminder of that mistake.

But I understand this situation, it has happened to me many times that I am at a loss after several deposits and a lucky moment comes that gives me back everything I lost plus some profit on top of that... and instead of stopping and taking a break I continue to gamble and lose it all. It's happened to me too many times in my gambling life, that's why gambling is full of ups and downs. It's hard to be in control when we are losing, sometimes it's even harder to stay in control when we are winning and our heads are in the clouds.

56  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They put an end to online gambling: what do you think it's going to happen? on: May 11, 2024, 03:28:24 PM
...
So how will you cope in your country if eventually they put an end to online gambling?

And what will we do if... Well, when something happens, we will think about it then, certainly the world will not stop spinning because some countries have banned gambling. I guess some people will find a way to gamble, some will only do it while traveling, and some will surely turn to other things in life. That's usually how it is, you shouldn't despair when you lose something, raise your head, and move forward.

But this will not happen, we can expect online gambling to be more regulated, but to ban it is difficult, it seems to me that too many people gamble and it brings a lot of money to casino owners and the state through various taxes. So gambling stays where it is, it can only grow.
57  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you feel that the global economy is declining? on: May 11, 2024, 01:08:08 PM
This is basically the way that we are forced to do but shouldn't be the case if you look at the history. Even the slaves that worked in the pyramids got paid more than some people in the world, and by some I mean a few billion people are getting paid less than those people these days.

I have to say that if we are forced to work at two jobs, that means that we are going to be forced to work three jobs eventually, or eventually we are going to be told that living in a house alone or just one family is a luxury that you shouldn't do and you should all be living in apartment complexes, and they will cram all of us in the same place, and they will tell us meat is not a must and we can just eat chicken, or they will... basically they will make us do worse and worse stuff.

They do not force us to do anything, we accept everything that is served to us... maybe there is a choice, but mostly that choice is reduced to choosing between many bad choices. It's a system, we are still slaves in a way, not like 1000 years ago, we are not chained, but we depend on money, there's never enough money and that puts us in a tricky situation.

It is a contradiction, the global economy is not in decline, but the gap between the rich and the poor is bigger than ever. While it is difficult for many to push through the month, some people prosper and have more money than ever. I guess it's all a matter of perspective, but for sure not everyone can advance in this world, it's individual... some people are going up and some are going down.
58  Economy / Gambling / Re: [SOLVED] Betnomi | Project status & Refund Plan! on: May 11, 2024, 09:47:24 AM
...
Well, since there have been no response from them for a long time now and no news of any new refund I’m guessing that they have finally decided to give up on their little scheme.
So far we havent heard out something from them whether they do really have the plans on trying out to resolve the issue that they do have with those unpaid users or not. I have forgotten on whats the name of their new site? ...

The new name is BaseBet.io, and it's very similar to the old site, as far as I can see it has the same games as before.

A few members were refunded, but some were not... and where are all those who don't know about this forum? Those who are really interested can read the last few pages and everything will be clearer.

I'm going to stay away from the new site... I wasn't harmed by what Bethnomy did, but I believe it's very bad and there's a possibility that it will happen with the new site. So why risk playing in the new Betnomi casino when we have many other casinos around that are far more trustworthy?

4 goals needed!!! Cheesy

tips: bc1qgll9gt4gmf8rddnyynrdrmzq9qzv336w7yezce

It is with 3 goals in the 64 minutes so hopefully you will get this first bet to get you a boost or as I would say to give you like 2 more free tries with the same bet as I would definitely not suggest to increase the bet amount after every win, depending on your budget you can do so if you lose but don't do it if you win.I have seen people ruined by odds of 1.3 or something along those lines and that would be catastrophic if you happen to lose it all from that bet,I am not a big fan of trying to get money needed through gambling yet I want to cheer you up and hopefully you can achieve the med school money and if you don't at least to get a nice part of it,something like 0.30 to 0.50 Bitcoin so you can pay a part of them through this challenge.

Unfortunately, the game ended with 2:1. After that goal in 64 min. there were no more goals and this bet was lost. I was rooting for the OP to win this second bet, but it didn't come to that. Maybe it's too late to talk about what he could have done better, he tried and failed... but he should definitely study some tips from this thread if he wants to try again.

So Savingformedschool do you plan to try again?
60  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What you think about Casinos rewards? on: May 10, 2024, 07:43:15 PM
Online casino rewards I have always found to be "kind of" nice, but there also always seems to be some sort of catch, like having to bet a bunch more just to get the "free bonus funds' to be used.  I like IRL (in real life) rewards much better.  Often that's things like being comped a hotel room, for example.  Now often that's from either winning a lot of losing a lot, but they are tangible rewards that I get to utilize right away.

Well, casino rewards are like that... there's always some catch. And mostly that catch is about some wagering, there are no rewards without wagering a lot, or if it's not that it's some lottery/raffle system where it's really hard to compete with people who have more tickets (from wagering/depositing).

Many casinos offer different types of rewards, but most include playing (which is understandable)... active players and the ones who wager more will get higher rewards, but there is something for everyone. It's gambling after all, it's on us to try different casinos and various promotions, and if we are lucky enough we can win something, if not we will get some cashback/rakeback and that's it. I guess the bottom line is simple, if we don't play (try it) we can't hope to win, and if we try it and lose it we can't complain too much, we can just hope that we will be more lucky next time.
